Always inspired by Ginny & guests
I started listening to this podcast when I was pregnant with my now 8 month old child. It’s my absolute favorite and has shaped many of my parenting decisions. Ginny’s breadth of guests is wonderful, and I typically feel inspired after listening to an episode and follow up with my own research on a topic. I also appreciate Ginny’s Christian viewpoint and willingness to incorporate that into the podcast. I have recommended this podcast to many friends and encourage you to give it a try!!

Taking a turn
Ginny, you are wonderful. I’ve seen you speak in person. I’ve read your books. I’ve listened to 1KHO for years and adore your podcast. But I’ve noticed that your podcast topics/guests have taken a decidedly sharp turn into politically-charged waters. I used to be able to recommend your resources wholeheartedly but *if* I mention them to others now, I do so with a disclaimer. Please return to the heart of your mission: getting kids (and their parents) outside in nature, enjoying each other, and discussing how and why that’s important. Other people cover politics and controversial health topics…you have always been so refreshing for your nature-based inspiration in adventuring with my kids outside. ❤️

A gift for all!
Ginny has an incredible heart for today’s families and honoring all the authors she interviews with amazing questions and care. Truly, she makes the most wonderful connections within her interviews that are life giving to listeners and thoughtful to the person she is interviewing. With every episode I finish, I’m encouraged to pursue a simple, meaningful, outdoor, faith filled life for myself and my family. No pressure, just thoughtful insights and encouragement. She is a joy to listen to! Keep it up, Ginny! We are cheering you on from WV! 👏

Favorite!
I think this is my favorite podcast. I always look forward to seeing who Ginny is going to talk to next. At this point, most of the books I buy are ones she recommends on her podcast! I even like the tone of her voice and how excited she seems to be able to do this podcast.

Best interviews EVER
Ginny is a joy to listen to. She does her research and it shows because her interviews are incredible. I can’t count the times I’ve heard her say “I have pages of notes.” She reads a ton and I’ve bought many books based on her recommendations. Her interviews have changed my parenting.

Amazing
This is my absolute favorite podcast. I listen to it every day on my way to work. It is my dream to be able to homeschool my child one day but I cannot do it right now due to financial situations. This podcasts so much more than homeschooling though. The guests are all amazing. These are all real life issues that parents are struggling with. I absolutely wish I could be your friend and basically think you are a hero! Thank you for everything!

THE BEST!!!!!
Life changing podcast! Whenever I feel down and like I am failing at parenting and homeschooling Ginny builds me up and gives me confidence to keep moving forward and realize loving my kids means I am doing enough! She is so positive and genuine! ❤️

Loved until recently
I loved the early seasons of this podcast. It was very influential on me! The content in the last year or two has become increasingly odd, anti-science, and coded religious content.

Fantastic!
My wife and I listen to this podcast more than any other one. Ginny is a fantastic interviewer and she consistently brings a wonderful array of guests to this podcast. My wife and I have learned so much and this podcast has given us the gift of countless resources that we would not have been aware of.

Absolute favorite!
This is hands down my favorite podcast. It has changed our life. Ginny is simply the best host… so knowledgeable, yet humble and personable. I love how unapologetic she is about her beliefs, views and faith. She is a joy to listen to and picks great interviewees. My TBR list is a mile long because every book she shares about is compelling. Such a great listen!

Highly recommend!
I have been listening to this podcast for a while. I always finish so encouraged and inspired, knowing I’m right where I need to be. I am a homeschooling ( more unschooling) Idaho mom to two curly haired boys. We’re either outside being wild or inside playing LEGO’s. I am currently reading Ginny’s new book “Homeschooling” I’ve laughed, cried, been filled with inspiration.. and I’m only on the second chapter! Please listen to this show if you need some encouragement and confirmation that you’re doing the right thing. “Slowly but surely, I was loosening the reins. I was dethroning myself. I was learning through living right alongside our kids.” Page 48 of “Homeschooling” WOW. Thank you Ginny for the life changing work you’ve done for the homeschooling and parenting community. I’m so grateful for this show.

Life changing
I started listening to this podcast when my first was just a few months old and it completely changed what I thought how parenting was “supposed” to look. I’ve learned it’s okay to say no to screen time, encourage them to play on their own, and how everyone is in such better moods outdoors. I have recommended this podcast more times than I can even remember. Thank you Ginny for your dedication to the 1000 hours outside movement. I think it quite literally saved my life 🤍

Inspiring & Encouraging
This is my go-to podcast and one that I share frequently. I love Ginny’s enthusiasm, curiosity, authenticity, and how she champions her guests and their work. I learn so much and am encouraged by the great thinkers and doers that share on the show, and by the community of people spending more time outside, less time on screens, and providing space for kids to be kids in our fast-paced, over scheduled culture.

We love Ginny!
Hands down my favorite podcast. Thank you Ginny for your thoughtful questions, your humble insights, and your conviction when it comes to the best life for our children and our families. I was drawn to Ginny by the screen-free childhood message but have been listening faithfully for all the other wonderful insight that I’ve gleaned as well. Thank you, Ginny!

Congratulations!
In honor of Ginny’s 500th episode I’ve decided to finally write my first review! It is long overdue! Her authentic joy and expertise is a welcome consolation to my burdens as a young mother finding my place in the midst of a constantly shifting world. Her podcast is approachable and will leave you with a long list of books to read for yourself. Thank you for helping me become the best version of myself and who I want to be!

Edifying and Encouraging
I’ve really enjoyed the episodes I’ve listened to. As a former public school teacher spanning the last 15 years, I’ve seen many of the negative symptoms of our current culture. As a mom for the last 6.5 years, I’ve been burdened to restore independent play for my 2 boys. I do not see my role as their conductor of fun and they are the better for it. Love listening!

Love this podcast!!
I have 4 kids and don’t have much time. When I do get free time to listen to something, this is one of my go to podcasts. I almost always learn something new and valuable dealing with parenthood, child development and my own well-being. Ginny is such a great interviewer! She keeps it thoughtful, entertaining and relatable. There’s SO MANY good episodes, I can’t keep up.

Favorite Podcast
I have been listening to this podcast for about 3 years now absolutely love it! I always feel inspired, intrigued, or motivated to a) read the book she discusses with the author, b) try some of the parenting tips, recipes, etc. the guest discusses, c) dive deeper into the topic, business, or person who was featured. I often find myself nodding along and saying YESSSS! to things as the conversation progresses. I enjoy the variety of people she brings on as guests and how she always has pages of notes from their books and truly values what the guest is passionate about. She is a fabulous interviewer and finds ways to connect the audience to the guest and the topic in a way that naturally flows. Yes, her mission is getting families outside, but her podcast is so much more than that.

Started listening when my son was 5 months old and it has absolutely filled my life and parenting journey with a wealth of confidence, joy, knowledge and Fun as I let my kid be a kid outdoors, but also have some really solid science backing that and encouraging it all the time! Thoughts....
The BEST parenthood podcast!
I stumbled upon 1000 Hours Outside completely by accident and was immediately hooked. Ginny is the most knowledgeable host. It always amazes me how studied she is on each guest. The guests are all so unique and have their own experience to offer. Love, love, love this podcast!

Trying to take the Meat with the Bones
I was really enjoying this podcast until a recent episode had a rude comment about Florida. As a native Floridian, I’m probably overly sensitive about the topic but it isn’t in good taste to make a blanket assumption about a whole state full of people. Just for the record, there are lots of homebirthing, homesteading, homeschooling folks here.

My most shared podcast
I don’t know if I was initially drawn in by Ginny’s genuine nature and relatability, or for the inspiring and fascinating interviews she conducts, but this podcast is immensely valuable. If it wasn’t free, I’d pay to listen because I gain so much. It’s given me many new tools as a parent; I feel well equipped for navigating the challenges of being a mom in our modern world. Thank you, Ginny, for leading this movement and helping to restore the best of childhood.

Conflicted about content
I really enjoy parts of this podcast. Ginny is so enthusiastic and curious and you can tell she enjoys interviewing her guests. Kirk Martin’s episode was so helpful and he’s been a favorite follow of mine since. I love Ginny’s mission and passion for getting outside with your kids.
However, there is a clear and consistent “pseudoscience” bent to this podcast. Some of her guests are promoting fringe or blatantly false ideas about seed oils, vaccination, pharmaceuticals, even neurodivergence and mental health. Ginny has also been open about her support of RFK Jr., which is concerning. I think open dialogue about a wide variety of topics is important, but I’d love to hear guests who aren’t promoting misinformation in the name of “health”.

Love the Podcast!
I listen to several podcasts now and Ginny is still my favorite! I have been introduce to so many new people and ideas by listening to her podcasts. I have listened to several books from authors that she interviews and have learned so much! Her new focus on health and her guests have changed my family’s lives in how we eat. I’m so grateful to have found her podcast.

Homeschooled daughters loves this podcast
I love listening to your podcast on car rides. My kids (ages 17-11) are also with me. I hadn’t paid attention to when they stopped listening to their music and started listening along with me but they do! Recently we got back in the car and they asked me to put your unfinished podcast back on, and even more recently my oldest who will be a nanny abroad while finishing her senior year of homeschooling has been listening to your podcast on her own time. Love this! Your topics are so relevant on how to raise happy healthy kids! We are on year 3 of our 1000 hours outside goal. Thank you for what you do!

The best thing parents can listen to
So many things to say… this podcast is everything I (and all parents) need to hear. The lightheartedness paired with directness addresses some hard things we all need to hear in the most loving way. I refer to Ginny by first name and have told every person I know about this podcast. Go back and listen to every one of these episodes, apply what you learn, and your kids and family will thank you for it.

I cry every time
This is one of my top shared podcasts. Ginny is. A regular reminder to me from Jesus, to slow down, go outside, listen to the symphony of nature, and trust that YOU are your child’s best teacher. Thank you, Ginny. I cry in every episode as the water streams into the desert of my “little years” soul. It was a joy to preorder your book today.

Just finished the Forest is Magic episode
I listened to this on my drive home from a camping trip and was just enamored with excitement and totally wished I had heard it before the camping trip. 😂As my kids slept on the way home, I found myself drifting off into an imaginative fairy tale land with my kids. I got home, immediately bought the book and can’t wait to read it aloud with my kids. What a fun interview Ginny! I learned so much!

The best!
This is such a great and important podcast that everyone should be listening to. Love everything Ginny talks about! So much valuable information for our children and their future. Especially love when Ginny has Mike from Grownowadhd on! He’s a wealth of knowledge when it comes to our kid’s childhood. Appreciate them both so much!

True to her advice to get outside, Ginny’s podcast feels like stepping outside on a beautiful sunny day when inside you’re feeling cloudy and glum. Ginny is that encouraging optimistic friend you call on when you’re full of parenting doubts. She’s got the expertise and knowledge to back up her warm and friendly advice. She’s the perfect blend of fact-based knowledge and fun! I’m so glad to have found her voice and perspective while on my homeschool parenting journey. Your family will benefit greatly from listening in! THANK YOU GINNY!

Excellent discussions!
I just recently started listening to this podcast, and I’m hooked. There’s always a good discussion. Ginny exemplifies how adults should be curious learners and find beauty in God’s world and what it holds. I have recommended it to several friends already. Keep up the good work!

I listen to nearly every episode. Ginny is so excellent at interviews, and because of that, the conversations with her guests offer so much valuable information. I share episodes from this podcast more than any other. Keep being a light Ginny- you are making a difference!
