I love this delivery of the news in general.

When sexual predators are reported on we need to stop calling them minors or young women. They were literal children. This diminishes the crimes committed and shields the predator with softer language. Your guest today made these errors over and over again. I typically enjoy your reporting but this is damaging to survivors and supports abusive culture. Language matters!

Update: I still miss the old format with multiple voices but the show has found a nice groove. I’ve been a listener from day one. I loved the humor and energy of the various hosts. They talked about the news like it was a chat on the couch with friends. I know change is constant but it’s not always welcome. I knew it was a wrap when they got rid of Akilah’s “Headlines”. The new host has been pleasant to listen to. The changes in program have not been. And we are losing the joyful voices that have helped to start my day. Next Tre’vel will announce their departure and I pray there’s another uplifting news pod to discover.

Crooked media gained an excellent reporter and personality in Jane Coaston. Having her daily new show on their platform is a major feather in this already excellent news organizations cap. Keep up the good work!

I really liked the show before Jane took over. Now it just seems more opinionated than actually reporting on news. Would give no stars if possible.

What would the world do without Jane Coaston! Seriously, if everyone would just listen to her we’d all be better informed and better off.

I thought the show was fine as a daily coverage of the news but then when they covered Israel bombing Iran, repeating Netanyahu ‘s propaganda over it being self-defense?? Reporting Israel’s dozens of casualties (tragic, truly) and not reporting Iran’s *hundreds* of casualties….. another American media outlet regurgitating the dehumanizing of Middle Eastern people yet again. Yet another media outlet lost to Israeli propaganda.I can’t really trust a new source that doesn’t understand and perpetuates the Zionist bias there.

Jane is awesome! What A Day gives a sufficient amount of humor and just enough News to not increase my level of anxiety.

I love WAD and listen almost every day *and* when it comes to their coverage of the insurance industry it would be nice to hear a balanced perspective that doesn’t sound like it was bought and paid for by State Farm insurance. Two episodes in the last six months on disaster insurance and not a single mention that the insurance industry saw nearly double their profits from 2023 to 2024? No inclusion of consumer advocates voices or coverage of how insurance companies delay and deny homeowners when disaster DOES strike? Would love to see WAD give listeners the bigger picture.

As far as i understood, this was supposed to (used to) be a shorter headline news pod. I listen every morning but I’m having a harder time and likely will stop. I have to skip the first 10 minutes of every episode to hear the actual daily news because Jane always interviews someone about an adjacent topic or something else entirely. This morning, she interviewed someone about why climate change is affecting insurance premiums… think that’s pretty self explanatory and definitely not news. It used to be a great source but it has gone in a different direction.

I rely on “What A Day” to provide me with accurate news.

I had to fast forward that interview. Tapper had years to report on it but saved it for a book. I’ve lost what little respect I had left for him and will not entertain anything he’s a part of.

Had on one of the Biden bashing authors and didn’t ask why he isn’t writing about Trumps obvious mental decline. If I wanted right wing talking points I’d listen to Steve Bannon

PLEASE consider making Saturday and Sunday shows— even if the episodes are pre-recorded, I miss it over the weekend. I’d be happy to listen to a pre-recorded Sunday Fun Day of all the happy news from the week or something similar like Saturday Predictions, or coming up on Saturday that’s just info about what to pay attention to or predicting crazy things that will happen on the weekend. Anyways, this show is amazing and so personable. Thank you for making the morning news easier to digest and fun. Keep doing what you’re doing!

As the title says, I start every day with this pod. Jane is one of my favorite people in media, and the show is both informative and entertaining. I know they’re internet reviews, but I really can’t understand some of the other comments. If you’re looking for a podcast that will go in depth on certain topics, while also giving you the news you need to know, this is the one. Can’t recommend it enough.

I hope he does well. Congress needs to pass a bill to stop “news” personalities from being allowed run anything in government. Also if your over the age of 5 catchup should be nowhere near a hot dog or any other sandwich

I’ve listened to this show daily for about a year and I really appreciate the combination of in-depth interviewing on one issue and headlines on a handful of others. The content recognizes the complexity of our world and looks at the very real impacts to average people of actions by governments and corporations. On a personal note, it was wonderful to hear Jane Coaston back today after an extended absence. The interim hosts also did a great job, so the bench is deep on this show! To me, Jane brings a special brand of facts, analysis and yes, humor to this constantly changing world. Thanks Jane, host team and all at Crooked for What A Day — and my sanity thanks you, too.

I Listen to What A Day every morning, it is my first podcast of the day. I start my day here because I then feel informed over the most important stories of the day with a humorous host I truly appreciate Jane Coaston. Thanks.

Loved Josie and Erin as the hosts this week! Not a fan at f Jane (or at least Jane without a cohost). Her jokes and humor don’t land as a solo reporter.

so sad what has happened to this podcast. i really miss the (now more than ever) much needed natural good humor with the prior hosts. so glad to have josie and erin fill in. i stopped listening after josie and the others “left” and now am only listening on days there are guest hosts. please reconsider the hosting situation. thanks

Very biased towards the left. She gives her opinion on every topic. I was looking for a news podcast, not a one-sided story.

I have come to appreciate Jane and enjoy listening to her. But it was nice to hear Josie on the pod today.

This show is a necessity!! Jane is the best combo of humor and news no matter what.

While asking listeners who are interested in groupthink to “kindly keep moving,” this podcast strikes me as having formed opinions on current issues. For example, if one goes to the update on RFKjr in search of information about Health & Human Services, it’s pretty one sided. Could the Secretary have positive goals on the agenda? Apparently not.

Jane is ah-mazing! I can’t get enough, especially in this ever changing world where there is so much to keep up with. Jane does a great job of providing context and bringing in experts. He quick sarcastic whit has me laughing out loud on my morning commute. If I wasn’t already gushing enough the most recent episode about the national championship trophy highlighting the Michigan in season win did it for me. Love this show!

I look forward to hearing Jane’s view of the news every morning! Thanks for telling it how it is!

I will preface this by saying I love other Crooked Media podcasts like Pod Save America, Lovett or Leave It, Hysteria, and Offline. Jane seems to be an improvement over previous recent hosts of What a Day in that she seems to legitimately have a thorough understanding of what she’s talking about. The problem for me is fully in her delivery. The way she speaks throughout the podcast comes off extremely smug and sarcastic, and almost as if every single sentence is supposed to be the punchline of a joke, or like she’s playing a character, to the point that it’s overwhelming and distracting from the actual content being delivered. I just start to crave a single moment without her condescending overtone. Also, she’s one of those people who pronounces the ‘R’ sound with that tongue-rounding effect like it’s being combined with the letter ‘L’ every time. That last part is just a small pet peeve that I could more easily forgive if not for the bigger issue described above. I can see why people like Jane, but unless she changes or is replaced, I’ll have to stick to the PSA guys and the Hysteria girls.

Really miss some of the other hosts…I feel this hosts voice is the equivalent to an eye roll, I don’t need the emotional undertone, just give me the liberal news…maybe it’s the point of the show so I should find another but didn’t feel like the other hosts were like this

Jane is like a smart, funny, knowledgeable friend who expresses shared concerns, interests and anxieties with humor and intelligence. P.S. Love the Headlines jingle.

Used to love this podcast but y’all need a new host, or at least additional ones to balance it out. She’s not as charming as past hosts and it all just sounds more scripted than ever…like listening to a middle schooler give a book report.

It turns out you can hate the news but love the presentation! This is the best way to start every day.

i am very disappointed that crooked media changed the format and dropped all of the over host and stuck with dry host. the former host use to keep this show alive and gave it zest and now it’s just like someone made a really dry chicken. i truly think this was a mistake because the trying to be the daily is a big misstep. the old format had this show stand out and now it’s trash. i stopped listening for months and i tried again and honestly this was a mistake. i’ll listen to other crooked podcast but this one is in the garbage disposal!

Love the brevity and the impressive guests. Sometimes I hear myself singing ‘head-a-liiines’ in my head when ever I’m hearing any kind of news! Keep up the excellent work!!!

This new host is so hard to listen too it’s like she tries too hard to land zingers or jokes and they always fall flat and usually pretty cringe
