Now, fully left-leaning
You just went full liberal bias after your public funding was threatened huh?
Omg ty so much for asking Pete Buttigieg the hard questions about his beard and what he thinks about Mamdani
Why do your reporters talk in a tone like they’re talking to children, specifically Kamilla

Incompetent and pathetic
The journalists at NPR deserve to be prosecuted at The Hague. The world will remember your complicity in what is happening in Gaza.

Thank you!
This is exactly how I like my news. No opinions, just straight up reading the news! I will continue to support NPR.

Biased news with only one side
Nothing like listening to disgruntled democrat extremists explain news in a way that’s only opinion and minimal facts.

NO MORE FUNDING
Look I get that news outlets are gonna be bias, and that’s fine, because freedom of speech is a thing. Would I rather them not be bias? Yeah. But they are. HOWEVER, the government should NOT be funding ANY news outlets with TAX PAYER DOLLARS because ALL OF THEM HAVE SOME SORT OF BIAS, as I said before. NPR is FAR from the exception as they lean far left. Just as the government should NOT be funding things like Fox or Daily Wire, they should not be funding NPR. To be clear, they also should be free to continue to make their show. They shouldn’t be cancelled, they should still have freedom, but the government shouldn’t use citizens’ hard earned money to essentially donate to a private owned biased news outlet.
Also, I listened to their episode on the rise of different media, and they seem to take the view that it is bad that there are conservative news outlets and that it should only be liberal ones. Pretty much any conservative that you talk to will say that it’s good to have a balance of news from both sides of the aisle. I don’t know about all of us, but most of us would say that it’s good to hear the other side so you know what your side is doing wrong, like Trump with Epstein. That’s why I listen to NPR in the first place, because I want balance in my news. It’s disturbing that they don’t want the same and are discouraging diversity in media.

MORE MUST DONATE!
Let me say this now, WE CANNOT LOSE NPR! Please do your part and donate to NPR. Donald Trump is trying to silence the voices of the people and replace them with right wing propaganda. We will not stand for this. We will keep public broadcasting for all time. No one can ever silence the American citizenry, no matter how hard they try.

The US can't lose NPR. So many people won't have access to balanced and accurate news and other wonderful stories like the one I just listened to. NPR exposes people to cultures and people different from them.

Truth
At a time when truth is hard to find, I appreciate NPR even more. I’m a long time sustainer who gave because of the content, but now donates 3x that in defiance of the orange clown.

What is the news anymore
I have listened daily for years. It’s sad to see how much reporting has changed in such a short amount of time. Please get back to pushing back and asking hard questions. The public is relying on your access to people in power to speak for those who have no power or access. Please get back to the work of journalism

It’s giving zionist
It’s all in the language. The dehumanizing of brown bodies under apartheid. The phrase Israeli hostages vs Palestinian prisoners. A zionist narrative that there are no innocent Palestinians. It’s not the Gaza war when one side has American aid in weaponry. This whole idea that Hamas is this big bad boogie man when it reality only the IDF is dropping bombs and dancing about it on tik tok. Or settlers who block aid. Call it what it is, the war on Gaza.

I can no longer listen on weekends
I can no longer listen to Ayesha Rascoe's tone of voice. I quickly change podcast once her voice comes on.

Congratulations on not asking any difficult questions or challenging him with follow up questions. This wasn’t an interview, it was free publicity and propaganda.

“A” Martinez
For so long I thought all of the reporters were from Canada because they kept saying “eh?” at the end of their sentences. It finally dawned on me that they were saying “A”.

Where elites communicate what unwashed masses should believe
I’ve been listening to upfirst since it began maybe 8 years ago. I’ve been an NPR listener for 20+ years (they were early adopters of putting their shows on podcast format where I would listen on my iPod back in the day)
Honestly NPR has fallen FAR in 20 years… Uri Berliners expose was right on the nose.
However I still listen most days, i think it’s important to understand what narrative / spin the elites want the unwashed masses to believe about the news of the day. And they do a really good job of distilling down the agreed upon mainstream narrative, into a bite size little chunk of digestible listening.

Appreciate the daily episodes and love Ayesha Rascoe’s Sunday story
I’ve been listening to Up First every morning for years now, and I feel like it’s a great way to stay informed while protecting my mental health from needing to be bombarded with news all day. I also really really love Ayesha Rascoe’s Sunday stories- I always learn so much and her interviews have made me cry several times when it’s a deeper or sadder (and very important!) subject. Ayesha is an excellent journalist and interviewer.

I listen every day. They do a great job and if something really big happens they will put out a special episode that sounds just as prepared as the regular episodes

Fluff piece for credibly accused sexual predators?
Why is NPR doing a 40 min interview special with a credibly accused sexual predator (Dave portnoy)???? Yikes.

❤️ for Ayesha Rascoe
Don’t listen to the people saying to remove Ayesha Rascoe. They don’t like her voice, that is their personal issue. Ayesha is a great addition and her laughter is uplifting.

Portnoy
It’s a sad commentary on the state of our society that Dave Portnoy is elevated to the level of someone worth interviewing.

Interviewing Dave Portnoy is not ok
Generally enjoy this show, normally a great way to get a quick bit of news, but normalizing someone who is a known racist, as well as giving them your platform is not something I can look past.
Momoftwins2002
Dave Portnoy? Really?
I'm a lifelong NPR listener and have always trusted their reporting above most other news outlets. I am beyond outraged that they chose to platform a man who has been credibly accused of sexual assault, is an outspoken misogynist and racist, treats his employees like garbage, sends an army of trolls after everyone he doesn't like, etc etc. He's one of the worst people in media and the notion that he "shifted right" and democrats should be trying to win back his vote by—what exactly? Using more slurs? Congratulating rich people for being rich?—is laughable. Inskeep, I've always respected you, but you got absolutely worked here. Really disappointing stuff.

Absolutely unbearable voice
Remove Ayesha rascoe from the Saturday and Sunday shows. She has completely made those episodes unlistenable.

Good, Solid reporting
This is a good show of top headlines to start your day. NPR remains the best option for consistently unbiased reporting, despite the attacks by this post-truth administration who wants to deny reality. NPR is not perfect but they do provide details and insights that are not included in other media outlets. This is why NPR listeners tend to be better informed about current events than those who stay in their media echo chamber.

Can’t start my day without Up First
This is quite literally the first thing I listen to each day. I love the straightforward news plus the peak into the relationship s between the hosts at the beginning and end.

Shocking lies
The fact checking you guys do is outrageously bad. ‘Israeli forces shoot at Gazans at aid distribution site’ is how you begin an episode. Holy cow that’s just a lie. Where was this claim even sourced from ?
The company distributing aid - nope.
the IDF - nope

Please… just try to make an attempt to cover the news in a balanced manner.
Today’s Covid vaccine coverage was a good example.
Getting healthy children vaccinated or boosted, the story was all one sided, basically just trashing the new direction the administration laid out yesterday.

George Floyd Reporting May 24
I listen to Up First every day for an informative take on the news. NPR leans left but provides a good counter balance to other reporting.
The May 24 story on George Floyd protests anniversary was infuriatingly terrible. An incendiary report blaming far right radicals for destruction and violence. An unbelievable show of completely biased reporting of the worst type. It seems that.NPR wants to re-ignite the protests and start the mindless violence all over again. Both sides are at fault. The right recognizes this and disavows the violence. Until the left wing wackos recognize this, until they stop treating violent criminals as the ‘victims’ (yes, those who are attacking innocent businesses and people), we will continue to be divided. I am starting to believe this is what NPR and the left want. Please stop.

Zionist slant
The amount of detailed coverage of anyone who kills a Jewish person with the lack of story and details about Palestinian people is way out of wack, spreads a dangerous bias, and shows NPR’s funding,
Bias, and loyalty.
Mama ciel
So disappointing. So biased.
It never ceases to amaze me how biased and one-sided NPR presents information. The way they report one side of a story, use language to manipulate how listeners feel, and pairing certain news topics to influence listeners to draw conclusions that fit their agenda. Slowly indoctrinating people as they listen.

Too Much Joking
I used to love how simple and quick to the point the shows were but I noticed about two years ago they started adding a 15 second pre and post “unedited” section where we get to “listen in” to the newscasters behind the scene chats. I find it annoying and incongruent to the abrupt shift into important world news. A Martinez, Leila, and Steve do it the worst. Please focus on the news!! You aren’t comedians 😞

After NYT’s The Daily added a paywall, I began listening to NPR. I am thankful for their coverage of events and simple layout of the facts.

Top Headlines; Terrible Story Telling
I listen to know what my 20 year old kids and nieces/nephews think the world should be like. It’s excruciating to hear some of dumbest opinions presented as facts in the legacy media, but I’m better prepared for my week.

Thanks but…
I will always love and support NPR, but it’s really troubling to hear ads for Amazon while listening to this podcast. Amazon, really? We’re still cosigning workers’ rights abuses and the damage Amazon does to small businesses and creators? Do better and ditch Amazon for good, NPR!
