My wife and I have never been to Europe… we have been planning a trip to Italy for a year and a half. I discovered Untold Italy Travel about two months in. Although I haven’t contacted them directly for services or booked their tours, their podcasts, the new app and Katy Clarke along with the entire extended Untold Italy team have been - hands down - our best resource! They have given us the confidence to book accommodations, travel and local tours in Milan, Cinque Terre, Florence/Tuscany, Puglia, Naples and Calabria in a month long adventure! Our Dream Trip! Listening to Untold Italy has been such a joy since the beginning of the pandemic when we had to postpone our trip to Italy. Katy’s podcast gave us a connection to the ongoing troubles our Italian friends were going through while we experienced our own problems here in the US. Katy gave us hope that we would return and we have done so twice since then and are planning our next trip there in 2026. I’ve been listening to episodes of this podcast as they apply to a trip to Florence, Umbria and Liguria. Such great information and tips from such knowledgeable and entertaining local guests. I especially like that I can go to the website and bookmark the show notes so I don’t have to frantically take notes while I am listening. The show notes also provide links to things mentioned in the podcasts as well as lists of foods discussed, etc. I highly recommend this podcast and the Untold Italy website. Ps. On the website, you can also download a guide to the more than 250 podcast episodes to help you focus on your interests.

I’ve traveled a lot in my life but haven’t been overseas for a long time. I was nervous to plan a trip by myself to Italy, a country to which I’ve never been, but couldn’t find a travel agent I trusted at the start of my planning phase. Then I found this podcast and the Italy Travel Planning Facebook group! What a wealth of info in both! I jumped into the podcast episodes and have been planning for a few months now. With all the info in the podcast and FB group, I’m very confident I’m not missing out on anything that I want to do and that I’ve created the best plan and booked the best activities possible! I continued to listen even after my trip, because like a lot of people who visit Italy, I can’t get enough, and wanted to continue visiting if only in my imagination. Katy and her friends (ok, travel experts, but they are clearly friends, too) give practical and fun suggestions for all the regions of italy. As I listen, each region becomes my new favorite and goes on my “must visit” list. I’m obsessed with this website and with planning trips to Italy. Your podcast is so interesting and love listening! I feel like I get to be in Italy every time I listen. My ancestors are from Umbria so it was so nice to hear about this region. It isn’t the most popular which makes it more interesting to hear about. There is also a town in Umbria called Deruta which is famous for Italian ceramics!

Every time I listen to an episode I have a new place in Italy that I have to experience. Katy collaborates with local Italians who have the inside information on the best experiences and how to really enjoy authentic Italy.

A podcast that’s not too “ informational” but very informative. There’s more than enough information to give you a good lay of the land and to peak your interest. The ladies speak from great experience and with enthusiasm. I love the mix of information and casual speak.

If you are looking to explore Italy, and not just the major cities, then join Katy and her guests on a wonderful journey exploring the entire country. I’ve enjoyed some great restaurant and agroturismo recommendations as well as some great tour guides. We are going to Rome, Naples, Florence, and Venice in September/October this year and I stumbled on your podcast a couple of months ago in my research and have listened to atleast 40 episodes (some multiple times). Im going to Italy VERY soon and I don’t know much!! I had recently done a poster about Italy so I know a little bit , But this podcast helped a lot! Sometimes it would just jump right into the scenario instead of doing an introduction I feel like but overall It really helped on what decisions to make and where to go , what to eat , and all that stuff!! It was a little fast but I’m parts they would go slower . But this podcast is helping me a ton! This podcast would get a little bit confusing in some parts but I would recommend this podcast if you GOING to italy , if you want to KNOW about italy , or if you just are LISTENING to a podcast for fun!! Now I know about the untold italy.

I love this pod cast it is very detailed, friendly and and a whole lot of enthusiasm for the love of Italy.

The variety of topics and the good content keep me coming back. Good interviews with numerous Italy experts. Good advice from the host. It is sometimes hard to get through an episode due to the host’s speech pattern. Lots of high pitched giggling, especially when a second person is part of the presentation. It may be an issue of nerves, but it is very distracting and knocks down the value of the content. Some presentation skills training helped me many years ago.

I am so happy I found the Untold Italy podcast! It is the best for reminiscing about past trips to Italy, planning upcoming trips to Italy, and dreaming of future trips to Italy! My great-grandmother was from Calabria and I wanted to learn more, and stumbled upon this podcast and now I turn on this podcast when I do dishes and quilt and dream of Italy. This podcast also introduced me to Vicky Bennison’s work and now I’m an avid Pasta Grannies fan. I revered my Japanese grandmother and helped her make sushi and gyoza and Vicky’s work to treasure this knowledge and these amazing women is invaluable. Thank you, Katy, for your oodles of accessible information and your beautiful, positive, pragmatic attitude. When I go to Italy someday, it will be in large part thanks to what I’m learning from your podcast.

I planned an entire trip to Italy on 2 1/2 weeks notice after our other travel plans fell through. I found Untold Italy’s podcast and website, and used them to plan the entire trip! Just returned home and everything was superb. Hotels, restaurants, trains, arrivals, language, customs … we handled all with confidence thanks to Untold Italy.
