FLUFF FACTOR: 23% (ouch)
/ Episode length: 57 mins / Ads + Fluff ⭕️ ⬆️: 13 mins / Avg time between ads: 19 mins. / Based on episode: 813.P1. A SEVEN MINUTE ad break! Ouch. ============================. Some podcasts on the Apple platform keep throwing in extra minutes of commercial ads every six months. Four, five, six-minutes of ads and more. It’s like they’re trying to strong-arm listeners, “Pay us through our Patreon, or suffer the consequences.” Not everyone can pay $100 a month for 20 podcast subscriptions. I have 300 in the list.

Love to listen to these guys.
Definitely prefer these two to your average left wing female podcasts host. But a bit too much S word. I prefer not to have feces brought to mind several times an episode. Other than that it’s good.

Bad research/memory
I listened to an episode about a local girl who was murdered and y’all can’t even call her by her name correctly. Switch back and forth between Lauren and Laura the whole episode. Not to mention that it really doesn’t even seem like y’all researched the case or studied the area. Just saying wildly inaccurate things like that her housing was a dorm etc. just seems bad.

I listen to my favorite guys every night before bed. I really do look forward to every episode! Thank you!

Oh how the mighty have fallen
For around 7 years upon it’s creation, TCG was easily one of the 3-5 best true crime podcasts.. •Thoroughly researched •Tasteful humor •Honesty •Objectivity •Fantastic storytelling (From Nick? Absolutely. From the Captain? Not so much) •Stayed away from divisive social/political issues That said, those days are longgggg gone. To be fair, to an extent it’s understandable after many years the pool of captivating stories begin to dry up (I say “to an extent“ because podcasts like Casefile have been able to maintain their excellence despite covering significantly more cases than TCG). But at this point virtually all TCG does is cover extremely recent stories — something they formerly swore to never do for obvious reasons (e.g. spreading misinformation and being unable to tell complete stories bc investigations/prosecutions are still in their infancy) — and rehashing the same old stories over and over and over and over and over and over again by bringing on “experts” of said cases while disingenuously gaslighting people into thinking it’s somehow a new angle — when 99.99% of the time it never is. For example, they’ve committed 19(!) episodes (and counting) to Brian Shaffer.. Is that a fascinating case? Absolutely. Have they brought virtually anything new to the table to justify covering it that many times? Absolutely not. I take no pleasure in saying any of this. Truly. But they have completely mailed it in. Having said all that, if anyone happens to be new to this podcast, you can disregard everything I just said. The back content of TCG is phenomenal. Arguably as good as just about any TC podcast on the entire platform. But for those of us who are caught up, its value has been completely bankrupted and therefore has become a complete waste of time.

I’m on episode 2 and I love it! I’ve listened to you for over a year now and your true crime stories are always so good! Question - why are you replaying this podcast from 2023? How often do you release brand new stories?

Grab a chair!
I was late getting in to podcasts, but I’ve been a fan of TCG for 5 years or so. These guys set the standard as far as I’m concerned, and I compare everything to TCG. This podcast is well made, professionally done with regards to facts and respect for the victims and their families. Their voices are made for radio, so easy to listen to, and the original music scores is great. This podcast is my number one, I highly recommend it. Cheers to a good job!

Let the Captain talk!
Long time listener of the podcast, here. I really appreciate the deep dive and attention to detail provided. My only gripe with the show is Nic talking over the Captain and sometimes doesn’t let him get a word in until he’s off the soapbox. Take a breath sometimes, dude. Let the Captain talk!

Awesome Poscast!
I love the new music guys!! I just recently started listening to you guys regularly after the Brian Shaffer podcasts. I live in Cleveland and was raised in lake county Ohio. So that case definitely is something I remember. Idk the way you guys interact is awesome. Keep up the good work! I think a lot of people can relate to you guys & Both of you provide something different than other podcasts. Can’t wait to hear more!

Best True Crime Podcast Around
These guys have the sauce… they’ve conducted this show in all of the right ways and for ALL of the right reasons, I’ve been a long time listener for many years and I’ve listened to every episode of the main show and almost every episode of OTR. I recommend you to every that I know that’s into true crime. I’d love to hear an episode or two on the Clutter family murders from 1959 in Holcomb, KS. Also inspired Truman Capote for In Cold Blood. I first read the book for a project in high school English class. But I’ve never actually thought much about the true case outside of the books inspiration! I know Nic is a big reader, as am I! So I thought this might be fun to hear you guys discuss in the garage! -Kayla from Colorful Colorado!

Captain Loves to hear himself talk
Trying to listen to the Brian Shaffer podcasts. For the love let Kelly talk. He goes on and on and on and on about nothing. I tried but can’t do it.

Dear sirs,
There were the good ole days when the $#!+ words were very, very few and far between. You’ve come this far without the crassness and are a place, I (& the lovely listeners) can listen and not have to do a peroxide/alcohol rinse in our ears afterwards. There’s a certain respect associated, if there is going to be a necessary expletive to have a gentlemanly warning ahead of it. I know it’s the world we live in, but the nice places are a little nicer without all of that nonsense. And you two are a HUGE part of a very nice place. 5 ⭐️’s and all the 🧡

Appreciate the amount of Research
I appreciate the amount of research that goes into these episodes! I think that the Nick goes into these cases with the delicacy and dignity they deserve for the most part. I do think both hosts could use more work on their language surrounding different marginalized communities. I also dislike the amount of always being on law enforcements side they can be when they clearly mess up sometimes and that needs to be addressed. Now captain has got to stop with the victim blaming it’s awful, I do appreciate Nick reeling him back in and reframing what captain is trying to say but damn have a little respect for the people whos tragic stories you’re telling.

I have finally listened to every episode!!! I love this show SO much…thank you for the interesting cases, amazing banter, and bringing light to cases that could be solved.

My favorite!
TCG has easily become my favorite podcast to listen to. I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts and this one will always be chosen first. The quality is always well done and I love that they are always respectful with the victims, families, and stories. They put the work in and they dedicate as much time as needed on the stories, not as much as they can squeeze into one episode. I especially love how they keep politics and their views out of it. It seems like other podcasts struggle with that and it’s making it difficult to listen to. These guys, top notch!

The best
I’ve been listening to these two charmers since the beginning and no show comes close to matching their attention to detail and factual reporting of each case while sprinkling in much appreciated comical relief from the Captain. Never sounding fake or forced, these two blokes are the real deal. They are the OG of true crime podcasting and one of the best .

Love you Men thanks for a great job ..you men rock !!
I just love you guys. You guys really know how to tell a story and I always like when the captain speaks I like his voice and I always like at the end of the show when Nick says and don’t litter and be kind. From PV cruncher in Clinton Township, Michigan what city are you boys out of? i’ll bet you guys on the back.

Best True Crime Show - bar none
I can’t say enough good things about this show. Started listening a few years ago and then went back to the beginning and have been working to listen to all of the episodes since then. LOVE these guys. Great content, great commentary, great music. I have recommended this podcast to everyone I know. Even if you don’t like podcasts, listen to this one anyway.

Captain Fatigue
I have loved listening to this show for several years. But it’s getting more and more difficult to tolerate the Captain’s interruptions. They aren’t informative and come off as snarky. I find myself looking through the list of episodes. Start to listen and just can’t get past the remarks and stop.

Been with you since 2017! Keep up the great work!
I am so thankful for this podcast, it gets me through long work road trips! I love that you had Sheryl Mac on recently. I met her at 2024 CruiseCrimeCon, she was wonderful! When I’m having a long work drive, I think, “what’s the boys talking about” and I turn you on!

Not as good as it was
It used to be one of my favorites, but I’ve noticed for the past year or year and a half that there seems to be a lot of repetition in the information they’re providing during anyone show. As though they are just fluffing to get more mileage out of the information that they do have. The Kierra Cole’s episode was such an extreme example of this, it seemed like a parody of podcasting. They just went over and over and over the same information. I feel it is 100% believable that she never gave her boyfriend a key to Her new apartment. There are several steps in saying you’re gonna give somebody a key and actually getting the key to them. The host just be labeled this and multiple other points to the ridiculous degree. I’m very close to removing this podcast from my list of weekly listens.

Captivating perfection
Not one day has gone by since I discovered TCG that I haven’t listened. Pure talent in storytelling-episodes are organized, intriguing, suspenseful, and respectful. They take even the most complicated of cases and make them easy to understand. The who’s, what’s, where’s, how’s and applicable why’s are covered! Love their voices too. They add appropriate-timed humor that is greatly appreciated. Oh-and they have amazing episode music too. Can’t wait to meet you guys someday at Crimecon. 😍keep the episodes coming!! And let’s all donate to the beer fund!

5-Star Ellen Greenberg Coverage
The captain and colonel are bringing the HEAT with their Ellen Greenberg episode. I’ve read and listened to everything about this case and hands down, this is the most interesting episode about Ellen I’ve heard. Cheryl, the investigator was a phenomenal guest. Bravo on the excellent work!

Nancy Grace
I have been listening to True Crime Garage for close to a year. I thought your presentation of the cases were good, and accurate. During your recent broadcast Nancy Grace was mentioned by your guest and your response was,”Nancy Grace is one of your favorite people at crime-con! “. That’s it for me!! Nancy Grace is an awful person! She has no journalism integrity and very much stirs the pot. She is the leader of the lynch mob who comes after anyone she considers the actor of the crime. Good bye True Crime Garage!! I value our Constitution which says a person is innocent until proven guilty by a jury of their peers. She deems herself a judge, jury, and executioner!!! I can’t stand for that.

The hosts make light of very serious topics, victim blame and always follow the police story never daring to look deeper.

The Best in True Crime Podcasts!
Nic and The Captain are excellent true crime storytellers with a passion for justice. They keep us informed and up to date on the most interesting and terrifying cases. Enlightening and hilarious, and The Captain’s voice is undeniably sexy. I’m hooked! Cheers to these two!

Hard to find grown-up scary tales there are of a fictional nature. Still gotta be scared by Frankenstein instead of terrified by Ted Bundy.

Long time listener (finally) checking in
I love True Crime Garage. I have been listening since its inception, and it’s consistently great, with no shortage of new material to report on! Nic and the Captain are easily two of my favorites on the podcast scene and their individual talents complement each other perfectly. It’s great that they’re so close as brothers as well. Cheers, fellas! Keep up the gory work.

What’s up with this Delphi episode?
Gun guy here. Guys. There is zero chance they found the cycled bullet and knew it came from an sig pistol. The trial proved the science tying his gun to the shell was junk science. I’m not saying Richard Allen was innocent, but it’s irresponsible to imply they have him dead to rights because of this cycled round they found. If I’m not mistaken, wasn’t the round found hours after the body, after law enforcement had contaminated the scene? Also-the idea it’s a rare caliber in law enforcement is a fallacy. It was at one point INCREDIBLY popular. Only in recent years have agencies changed back to 9mm. In 2017 .40 was still prevalent. Great podcast, but I’m disappointed in this episode. Frankly it makes me question other ‘facts’ I’ve heard.

Old Friends
I work as a janitor and maintenance man and I listen regularly on my headphones at work. The episodes, while almost always creepy and scary, are perversely entertaining. My boring shifts go by quicker and I feel kept company by Nic and Captain. I like how they can present cases seriously and compassionately but they can also add bits of humor and their own personalities. I always feel like I am listening to old friends.
