My Guncles
I have been following Tom & Lorenzo since 2010 and have definitely developed a parasocial relationship with them. They are my fun gay uncles, and I love listening to them. I respect and am interested in their insight on all things. I love hearing about their traditions, cats, travels, tv and movie reviews, political takes, and fashion insight.
I’m floored by the negative comments from unhinged people. Feel free to unsubscribe to a free podcast. My god.

Their Time Is Up and Tom Is Wishing He Could Delete Comments Here
Lorenzo seems nice, but Tom is just nasty. This has nothing to do with their age, but it’s about their brand: They thrived during the mean girl culture of the 2010s, and Tom is too dusty and unevolved for the current world. It’s clear he is the one who deletes any comments of disagreement on the blog. The best thing about his is how much he loves his cats and is devoted to them. But it’s SO weird and spineless to make a whole podcast episode defending American Eagle and registered Trump Republican Sydney Sweeney. The white half of a white and Latino couple talking down to the other and downplaying dogwhistle racism in an era of open racism is deeply disturbing. Hey, next time, just don’t, Tom. Just because you’re privileged and can ignore the subtext in certain things does not mean you are any authority on the topic. Have humility, maybe learn something new. It’s not your opinion that matters here AT ALL, Tom. You’re choosing to look away and ignore the context, and it’s gross. Questioning and shutting down your partner the way you are is odd and disrespectful. Every point Lorenzo makes, you have a loose, silly defense for, each one very boring and typical of racist apologism. “The founders of American Eagle are Jewish.” AND??? Have the wisdom to do better moving forward. What are you defending? Telling people to pander to racists and FOX viewers during an authoritarian time is just stupid.

Inconsistent Schedule. Constant Humble Brags. Tom Talks. Lorenzo Mumbles.
You took a ONE MONTH break with ZERO explanation on any of your many social accounts for the pause, even while posting to your website daily. You finally posted & at close of that show you said “ we’ll be back next week .” THREE WEEKS later NO NEW podcast. Promised broken, again & again. You have lost & will continue to lose listenership because you “need a break” & cannot be bothered to alert listeners. This is your JOB. Post every week. Your excuse “We don’t know what to say! We’re worried how we’ll come off during this time in history!” is boring hand wringing. You’re a pop culture podcast. Distract us from the horrors around us. And do it WEEKLY. And MANY people listen to podcasts during the holidays. Plan ahead. Pre record. For some of us it’s the one time of year when we have time to relax & enjoy them. Do your job, stop complaining you’re busy or can’t come up with ideas or boo hoo you’re scared the mean people will troll you on social media, post weekly & ENTERTAIN US. Also, if it’s too loud in your home to record, maybe rent a studio space? Problem solved. You’re adults. Figure it out. Also enough about your book & how busy you are. We get it. You wrote it. You’re busy. We all are. Save the shameless promotion & ENDLESS humble bragging for a different channel. Also, Tom, stop talking over Lorenzo. It’s not a good look. Lorenzo, if you do get to speak, have a complete & original thought. More than “it’s fabulous.” Also, you both need a lozenge or some water before recording & stop coughing in the mics. It’s gross.

5 Stars for Lorenzo (but it’s an average)
I have been a fan (“Bitter Kitten”) of Tom and Lorenzo’s since as early as their recaps and costume studies of Madmen on their website.
For 8 years or so I’ve been a devout listener of the pod, even enjoying their recaps of shows and movies I have no intention of watching. In fact, their reviews saved me from watching ‘And Just Like That’, which I might have, had they not been so damning in their criticism!
I’m coming to review the PSO now, unfortunately, because of a long, slow change of mind I’ve had about it. I used to count on the Friday release and listen right away, or save it to accompany me on a long walk or to help pass the time during a particularly tedious chore. I enjoy the couple’s banter, for the most part, though I agree with some other listeners that Tom’s impatience with Lorenzo at times is a real turnoff. (Lorenzo, you are an amazing polyglot. For several years I lived in a country where I worked in a second language, and it was very difficult to truly come across as myself, something you do well.)
Tom is impatient with a lot of things, it seems, and it makes liking him harder. I do wonder if that’s why they no longer have a certain expensive and popular sock company as sponsors- Tom rushed through those ads so fast, sounded bored and like he could barely be bothered. Now their ads are really “sus”, as the kids say, lots of online gambling. Pays, I bet, but a nice sock company with an altruistic bent was classier.
And now, to the crux of the matter- where is the pod? It’s showing up less and less frequently in my feed. I know about the construction next door, the travel and family visits, and hearing about those things is fun and relatable, including the cats! No problem with any of that. Can they fashion a soundproof space in their loft? Rent a studio?
Wait! Just noticed that they have set the frequency of the pod to “Monthly” here. Maybe they are semi-retired now (also relatable!) I am correcting myself - if I don’t do it, Tom surely will!

Love a happy ending!
Long time fan here: (love the site, bought the books, and am a faithful listener to the pod). In this crazy world where there is too much going on, I come to your pod to escape the news. With that said, in your roster of things to talk about, I appreciate that you ended the Jan 20th podcast (about Renee Good and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms) with something that you liked or at least something positive. It’s a small thing, but it counters all the negativity out there. Keep up the good work!

Negativity Land
I gave Tom & Lorenzo’s podcast a good run after reading their pop culture blog, but it was time to unsubscribe. They only seem happy when talking about their cats or travel adventures. The rest of the time? Pretty much any topic is consumed by negativity and analysis that dwells on all the things they hate about people or acting or media. It has become so rare they are talking about anything they are truly passionate about, and I don’t need that level of vitriol as a part of my weekly routine.

Justice for Lorenzo
This should just be called The Tom show. If you want to listen to someone pontificate on everything then this is the show for you. He constantly interrupts and arrogantly challenges poor Lorenzo if he has a different view and barely lets him speak. It’s giving beleaguered housewife vibes.

tom speaks my tv and film love language
i have wanted to talk about death by lightning and pluribus with a smart person who is on my vibe for a week and tom, i was VIBING with you. and i hope an editor/publisher hears you because i really want to read your amazing book and will be watching for the nov inquirer piece. you all are awesome, all love.

Taylor Swift episode
We are so overwhelmed with Taylor news for the past few years, especially those who aren’t fans. You had an interesting take but she really doesn’t need the exposure and we, your fans, would love to hear your views on a myriad of more interesting topics. Who cares if you’re not talking about THE MOST current event?
libra1075
Good analysis but
but the interrupting/talking over each other drives me BATTY (it’s really Tom interrupting Lorenzo endlessly). Also, it’s tough to engage with tv recaps/analysis when you don’t watch the show.
also the cat chat has been too much lately. Skip skip skip

Love you and your lovely husband but hard disagree
I always enjoy your show, y’all are lots of fun. Just so you ate aware tho, some of us love Taylor’s new album. I don’t think you can cast the “billionaires can’t make art” trope. Beyonce is either there or getting there and she is truly a great.
Tons of people hated Tortured Poets also.
Hope they finish construction soon!

Truth Tellers!!
Thank you for being some of the only reviewers who TOLD THE TRUTH about the AJLT reboot….Tom summed it all up with “You had no idea what you were doing and you alienated your core audience and ruined your brand.” 🎤💧

Tired
The show is tired. You have to establish the length of your career in every episode. Tiktok reflects culture and you are culture critics. Yet you condescend to it.

Love the And just like that reviews
Please don’t stop the reviews! I know you’re suffering through the show as we all are, but it’s so delicious to hear you clarify why this show is so terrible. Thank you for bringing some sassy sanity to that infuriating mess 😍😍

Great conversations, sketchy ads
I have been a huge TLo fan since the Project Rungay days and have listened to the podcast since day 1, but now there are ads for handguns (yes, guns) and that is SO off-putting and sketchy, not to mention totally out of sync with your brand. I hope you can talk to whoever is providing your ads and make that stop.
No Guns Please
Totally agree about Four Seasons! 👎🏻 👎🏻👎🏻 GREAT podcast!!
Love Tina Fey, great cast but….hated it.
Depending on the viewers age, who in your friends lives and our own, hasn’t had marriage, health, children, friend, mental health, substance abuse, disappointment, therapy, divorce, remarriage, bitterness, new partners, old partners, heartache, job, death, cheating or trust issues?
It’s not going to appeal to 30 something’s or 40 something’s bc it’s too old school and if you get to 50+, all it does is remind you of all those past traumas you’ve managed to miraculously live thru or known people who have, but certainly NOT unscathed?
You can’t put a “bow” on all those couples different life experiences in a story like that. That hideous rage filled psychotic (acting) college age daughter was ridiculous. I hated them portraying her as some demonic only child of divorced parents who seemingly is going to spend the rest of her life finding ways to terrorize her dad and his 30 year old girlfriend for ruining their family.
I’m 67 so of course I’ll see it differently than a person between the ages of 20 and 50. It was predictable, sad and I found it totally depressing.
The one scene I did enjoy was when Tina Feys “husband” saved them from falling through the frozen ice on the lake and she cries “you saved US”.

Too inconsistent
Love the show and have been a listener for years but the last year or more they have gotten too cavalier with skipping episodes. You look forward to it each wk and wait and wait and wait and an episode never comes. No notice, no heads up on any of their socials. Like a bad dating relationship, you can only be stood up so many times before you cut your losses and look elsewhere. Sorry guys but “we were soooo busy this week” doesn’t cut it and insults your audience —as if we are not also busy with work and family etc. Egos run amok.

Insightful and Entertaining
I’ve been reading TLo’s sites/columns and listening to their podcast for years and they are my absolute favorite content creators! Whipsmart writing backed by years of experience covering fashion and culture. I always find their opinions well researched, thoughtful and delightfully delivered whether in print or on their podcast. They are a perfect duo and cover a wide variety of fun topics. It’s a highlight every week when they drop their podcast.

My favorite podcast
Listening to this podcast, is like listening to two very good friends bat around topics. Even when I don’t watch the show they’re reviewing, I still listen. Love these two!

Enjoyable podcast, with reservations
I have been listening this podcast for years now. It is very personality-driven; if you like the personalities, you will like the podcast. If you are new, give it a few weeks and see if you can relax into the vibe.
Over time it has improved: not only does Tom not interrupt Lorenzo as much as he used to, Lorenzo has gotten much better at holding his own. The new segment where Lorenzo talks about things he’s learned on TikTok is very fun. Tom has an encyclopedic knowledge of “nerd” culture such as Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Star Wars, etc. and is always worth hearing on those topics. In general they have interesting takes on a wide variety of popular culture and all forms of media, as well as the UK royals. I enjoy their “day in the life” ramblings about cats, decorating, and travel. The two men obviously enjoy each other’s company, and it makes for a fun and comforting listen.
Tom does have a couple of tics I wish he would address: when he expresses an opinion about realms he is not a part of, he will preface his remarks with something like, “I, as a person who is not *fill in the blank* (Black, straight, a women, Native, etc.) perhaps shouldn’t weigh in on this but...” and he then proceeds to weigh in on it. Dude, we’re here to listen to your opinion, just give it; your listeners know what you are and what you are not and will calibrate appropriately. He also repeats himself quite a bit, often literally saying “As I said before…” or “To repeat…” If you already said it, don’t say it again!
Finally, I think the guys need to accept that they can’t produce the podcast on a regular schedule. It drops *roughly* weekly, usually a bit longer, and they take frequent breaks for holidays or other commitments. Some podcasts hew to an extremely reliable schedule, some don’t. This one doesn’t. It’s fine. No need to apologize every week.

Fun
If you are into cats and royal gossip, then this is the podcast for you. Entertaining and very funny.
The verbal gymnastics these two perform with regard to political correctness make Cirque du Soleil look like a troop of amateurs.

Royals are parasites
Fact .
Any charity is done with the money of the population , supporting causes for propaganda purposes mainly and money laundering . It’s a well oiled machine and they shouldn’t exist .

Enjoy but a bit long
Enjoy hearing TLows take on many things. But an editor to trim some of the fat here would help immensely.

A joy to listen to.
If you want to walk around listening to a podcast with a big fat smile on your face check T&L out.
I don’t watch most of the shows and movies they talk about with so much knowledge and humor and heart — and snark! — but listening to these two fabulous men take apart a topic is so much fun that I got hooked on the show the first time I listened.
Now I wouldn’t miss it.
Whether they’re talking about the Oscar’s or Princess Kate or a new show on Netflix or whether their new cat gets along with their other cats?
I am in and I am LOVING it.

TLO are so entertaining and enjoyable!
I’ve been following TLO for about 10 years now, and I love listening to their podcast. I adore their reviews of tv shows and movies, they are super knowledgeable. I also love when they share about their travels or visits to museum exhibits. They invite you in to their world with humor and you always leave learning something.

More Lorenzo please!
I’ve been following these guys for years. With all due respect, I really like both these guys but Tom needs to step back more and Lorenzo should talk more in these podcasts. It feels a little unequal. Tom also needs to stop cutting off or undercutting his comments. Lorenzo is an interesting guy and his comments are thoughtful. More Lorenzo please!

I absolutely love this podcast
I’ve been following Tom and Lorenzo since 2009. They’ve been a constant in my life since then. I didn’t think anything would beat their website, but their podcast does. Every Friday I look forward to listening to them discuss topics I’m very interested in. They don’t hold back and always provide a rounded opinion on everything. I can’t recommend this podcast enough

Look forward to this every week!
I love T&L, have been following their coverage for years. They’re smart and hilarious. Their takes on coverage of distressing queer news always honestly make me feel better and it’s comforting to hear their intelligence, compassion, and as needed, outrage. They cover fashion and pop culture wonderfully and always punch up. Come for their excellent takes and charming delivery and stay for the cat updates (or occasional cat “guests”- more Miu Miu please! And sending my best wishes to Mister Tab Hunter). Love you guys, mean it!

Fantastic, sharp, incisive commentary
I really enjoy Tom and Lorenzo’s podcast due to their clear framing of topics in context of todays zeitgeist and the critical lens they apply to their observations. their on microphone chemistry is great and you can sense their connection (obviously) but they play off their verbal styles well.
It also reminds me of being at a really great dinner party and sitting next to a couple you actually want to converse with.
Cheers!
PS - I’m (absurdly) late to the mad men party and am thoroughly enjoying the recaps and the style analysis!

Lorenzo’s accent?
It’s always been a point of interest to me, but listening to his critique of how the lead actress of the Mayfair Witches speaks her lines is hilarious given his accent. “WoMein”. Two tousand”, “veedio”, etc. Not to mention his predictable reviews of movies being “gorgeous”. Just let Tom and his ego handle the podcast - at least I know he has a legit point of view.

Best new find this year!
I stumbled upon this podcast looking for movie reviews and SO glad I did! Love how they play off each other, they do great reviews-wish they would have some more in depth *spoiler movie reviews, but great none the less, great - keep it up and happy to have found them!

The best podcasts always feel like a natural conversation!
This is such a fantastic choice for a podcast. Tom and Lorenzo have a certain magic where they can provide both escape from the mundane and also bring up timely cultural conversations. I have been listening faithfully for about seven years now, and they are a mainstay of my late week when I most need it! My husband also enjoys them as well and he even calls them “our BFFs”. Thank you so much for producing such a great show.

Tom and Lorenzo are the very best!
Tom and Lorenzo are the funny and insightful uncles I wish I had!
I can always count on their thoughtful breakdowns of the latest in culture and fashion. I learn something from the Pop Style Opinionfest every week, and I follow A LOT of the cultural discourse.
Last but not least, Tom and Lorenzo are two genuinely good humans. Listening to them makes me want to be a better person!

Don’t waste your time
Let me summarize an episode for you so you don’t waste your time.
Tom: We’re so tired and busy and we wrote a book
Tom: We are so fabulous and tasteful and people are so mean to us did I mention we wrote a book?
Tom: Our book is so fabulous and I wrote almost all of it - Lorenzo tell them how fabulous we are.
Lorenzo: I’m not…
Tom: Someone disagreed with us on Twitter that puce is a fabulous color, they’re so mean to us I immediately blocked them. You can see how fabulous our taste is by buying our book
Tom: People say I don’t let Lorenzo speak, that’s not true right Lorenzo?
Lorenzo: Well…
Tom: See I let him speak
Tom: it’s so hard being us and being so fabulous and we have to go because we’re so tired and busy and if you get a chance buy our book.
