Thought provoking
There are several Jungian analyst shows, but this one is my favorite. They cover a huge range of topics and apply Jungian theory creatively. And this show has helped me better understand my unconscious thinking/behavior and how to recognize patterns. Once the pattern is revealed, awareness and consciousness increase.

Amazing
I’m writing this in strong contrast to the accusations that the hosts are transphobic. The idea of people undergoing DRASTIC, life-altering surgery without a DEEP look behind their motivations and psychology is insane to me. These guys are exploring WHY someone would feel trapped in the wrong body. It’s a discussion worth having.

Bringing Jungian perspective to modern life
I love this podcast. The interplay of the three analysts is great and offers different perspectives and insights (as long as one of them doesn’t talk too much). Love the episode themes they explore and including dream work in almost every show.

My favorite podcast
In style, substance and content, this is the most valuable and transforming podcast to which I’ve ever listened. I just wish I could be friends with the hosts.

Disappointingly narrow-minded
I am a longtime listener, dating back to the beginning of the podcast, but am increasingly disappointed by what I observe to be a narrow-mindedness with regard to diversity of experience. I find it disturbing that the hosts take their own paths as a sort of universal a priori, giving rise to frequent instances of elitism, ableism, and worse, transphobia (see some previous comments). Also: the amount of self-advertising during each episode has increased to a level that feels excessive and disingenuous.

Hate-filled
Transphobia should have no place in self-discovery guidance. Lisa’s hate-filled stances, as well as her creepy ideas that a woman can’t be individuated without children, is a hard no. Just waiting for them all to out themselves as racists, misogynists, and homophobes. Their licenses should be taken away.

One of the best Jung podcasts out there
Just consistently wonderful content. I don’t think I’ve ever listened to an episode and not had several moments of “aha” surprise. Highly recommended!

Not sure…
I generally like the topics but Marchiano’s hard-line stance that Trans people should not transition seems very arrogant and paternalistic to me. It certainly makes me question her judgment, empathy, and flexibility.

I don’t like Joseph Lee
I like the other two hosts a lot and the podcast as a whole but sometimes Joseph’s takes come off to me as misogynistic or just not fully understanding of the female experience. I noticed this particularly in the episode about coming of age rituals for women. The other two hosts will usually call him out on it but something about Joseph rubs me the wrong way. I almost wish there were a space for them to have conversations about the feminine aspects of Jungian psychology without him there.

Lisa is Transphobic
I wonder how Deb & Joseph feel about Lisa’s anti-trans rhetoric & influence ??? I don’t believe Carl Jung would have approved of this kind of small-mindedness :(

Exceptional support for personal development
Among all the psych podcasts, this stands out as the top shelf choice. Models how to face and explore the contemporary psyche, complexes, and archetypes. Every week’s theme has had an uncanny connection to my own journey and what US collectives are grappling with. It has changed and deepened my relationship to my experience. Highly recommended!!!

LOVE this podcast, but…
As a newcomer to Jungian philosophy, I thoroughly enjoy this podcast. It’s rare to find a podcast with deeply knowledgeable hosts, with a variety of themes and regularly released episodes. I’m excited to work my way through them all.
However, I do wish they would not recommend JK Rowling. I’m disappointed that they’ve chosen to ignore her bigotry by discussing her books in the latest episode. There are many more mystery authors to reference who aren’t transphobic.

Rare gem
Truly a unique and rare podcast offering so much value, perspective, and wisdom. In a world of cultural click bait and social media (full of arm chair experts, seeming to be everywhere!), this podcast offers credible, deep, and compelling insights to stimulate the mind, encourage individuation, and inspire. Thank you from a fellow Depth therapist!

What a gift!
Three wise jungian analysts share their craft in a thoughtful and respectful way? Yes, please. This podcast is the perfect antidote for this political junkie’s late winter malaise.

A gem of a podcast
The more I listen to this podcast, the more of a gem I realize it is!

Great stuff
Great podcast. I appreciate the subtle hint of centrism, toleration, and even classical liberalism I hear in these episodes. It’s a welcome relief from the heavy-handed “progressivism” one hears in many cultural products in our era. If they ever got explicitly political, I’d probably stop listening. Thanks for staying fair-minded.

love this podcast so much!
I’m very thankful for this podcast and the hosts/all those who make it. It brings a sense of peace, comfort and hope, even in the more trying times, and teaches about Jungian psychology in an interesting and understandable way. Love all the hosts’ insights, backed with cool life and clinical experience, and the show always leads me to some self reflection before the end of an episode.

So Much More!
Absolutely love this show. Of course I started listening when diving deep into Jung but now it’s pure entertainment and education for life. I mean who doesn’t want to hear about wild dreams too (you know you’ve got ‘em ;) )
AND I just got “Dream Wise” …. I have to force myself to not read it all at once. 🤓

This podcast is a precious gem
I went through a huge loss, and subsequently a radical change in my perspective on life and who I am as a person, over the last 5 years, and this podcast has been one tool that has helped knit me back together into a stronger and healthier person than I was before. I went through very clinical, very scientific, but very soulless CBT ERP treatment, which was very effective, but brutal, and lacking in addressing the deeper, human side of anxiety disorders. I then looked for talk therapy that could reach those deeper levels, but mostly found therapists who were, undisciplined, ignorant of human nature and history, encouraged unhealthy rumination, and took unstructured approaches. This podcast introduced me to Jungian psychology, which is an approach to mental health/being human that I wasn’t familiar with but gave me what I was looking for: a combination of the scientific and…soulful? transcendent? As a lover of myths, fairytales, history, and nature, this branch of psychology hits at a core of truth about life and humanity that many (most?) other forms of therapy lack. It has helped me articulate my experiences and therapeutic needs/goals to therapists, and helped me grow on my own as a person even without therapy. I recommend this podcast to everyone I know.

Interesting and Challenging
I completed my own analysis and began listening around the time of its launch. Each episode I learn scores of new things via the interesting topics. I especially like the inclusion of special guests and the many excellent books the podcast has featured. It is a generous show. I appreciate how the three hosts’ relationship to each other feels real and growth filled as well, as they both challenge and support each other—a good model. Each one brings strengths that are complimentary. I’ve gained insight from the dream analysis and am excited to finally have the time and focus to start Dream School.

Thinking themselves wise…
This is foolishness. They opine and wax eloquent, abandoning reasonable analysis. They discount any traditional model. I have listened on and off for years, and I can’t anymore. Disgusting bias and arrogance = blindspots.

I Can Hear My Mother Now…
Grew up in household where dream interpretation went with morning coffee. Love how accessible they make psychoanalysis and lean into the magical on occasion. The episode about the 1980s Satanic Panic moved me.

Since '20 I am deeply grateful for insights shared by this trio of Jungian analysts!
With an INTJ temperament, a Psychology college major & propensity to like to try to help friends interpret their dreams as well as my own, these three take the cake for me. I appreciate the wide variety of topics offered, the depth of their discussions, and the camaraderie & respect evident between the three of them. What a great team bestowing wonderful gifts upon us. :)

Confusing individuation with individualism
*my comment on YouTube was censored by the hosts so I’ve put it here instead*
I have found a lot of value from this podcast in the past. But the most recent episode (being loyal to self and the death of illusion) came off as extremely elitist and out of touch. It was stated that workers who are advocating for unionization and fair pay/benefits are just stuck in a parental complex. There are people who work 40 hours per week and live out of their cars and can’t afford food! Workers joining hands and fighting against this is not asking the company to be their mommy and daddy. It’s demanding basic human decency and adequate pay for the work being put in. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Jungian psychology is somewhat of an elitist enterprise at its core. Jung himself was extraordinarily wealthy, becoming an analyst is generally only available to those with very deep pockets, and going through analysis is only possible for those with hundreds of extra dollars to burn each month on sessions. The pursuit of “individuation” isn’t really possible for those who are scraping and clawing to survive each day. It’s clear that the hosts of this podcast aren’t rubbing elbows with the “common folk” too often. But I would expect a better general understanding of the human condition from people who study psychology for a living.

Constant Companions
I discovered TJL just weeks before the onset of the pandemic and the timing was fortuitous. One of many auspicious synchronicities. The show might not be for everyone but it was exactly what I was looking for and have remained a loyal listener since I first laid ears on it. A source of so much wisdom and inspiration.

Sexual shadow of male therapists
It is my hope that u could do a podcast about this topic.
Specifically how their “male” lens affects their ability to interpret female sexual and initiatory behavior in clients, and to interpret myth, fairytale and dreams.

Mixed Feelings but Overall a Great Listen
I’m a long-time fan of This Jungian Life. As a psychotherapist (not strictly Jungian), I gather so much great material from the podcast that enhances both my work with clients and my own inner work (which is guided by a Jungian psychoanalyst). However, I do occasionally find myself frustrated by the hosts’ slavish adherence to a Jungian point of view beyond the point of good sense. As an example, I recently had to pause Episode 332 (The Secret Life of a Woman’s Soul) because I was becoming so angry at Jospeh’s insistence that Christiana Morgan may have not really been all that unhappy about her lifetime of being stifled, subjugated, and used by the men in her life (including Jung) and by patriarchy in general. He wonders if we’re just “projecting” modern attitudes onto this 20th-Century woman (also modern, by the way). He goes on to wonder (in his breathy, soft, sensitive-guy voice) if Morgan would be unhappy about being viewed as a victim. She was a victim, Joesph. Of patriarchy. Of misogyny. Of Jung and her lover. She can be both strong and brilliant and creative and also be a victim. It’s not projection. It’s not a problem in her psyche or mine. My anger at Joseph’s gaslighting is not a matter of my own overactive animus. It’s just plain frustration with unrelenting sexism. Anyway, four stars because 80 percent of the time I don’t become enraged by the content.

Love!
Could Joseph’s voice be any smoother? This trio has given me perspective that would never have occurred to me other wise. I started to listen just a year ago and the back catalogue has been so great! I’m very grateful for these conversations. I especially love when they dive into fairytales and confronting shadow.

Enlightening!
It is such a treat listening to this podcast every morning with current episodes and rich library of back episodes. The hosts are fun, humorous and brilliant. They weave Jungian philosophy/psychology into a wide range of topics from fairy tales to tornadoes. They continue to expanded my consciousness and deepen my awareness of self, psyche, and dreams.

High praise.
I love listening to your conversations. They are like fireside chats for me. This conversation about homesickness realty hit home for me, as do many of your talks. All these versions of loss the gentleness needed to move through the experience. Withdrawal comes to mind, or reluctantly waking up from the sleep that we oscillate between conscious home, unconscious home. The disruption of the last couple of years,

Powerful and healing
TJL came to me at a point in my life when I was deeply lost. I needed something to help me become connected and whole but didn’t know where to get it from. I somehow found this podcast and gave it a try, and it sent me on a journey (still ongoing) to understanding myself and my life and becoming whole. These hosts do such an amazing job of holding the human experience and investigating different parts of life in a way that is both empathetic and honest. Not every episode is a home run, but that’s true of anything we do! By and large I think this is the best podcast I’ve ever listened to and has had a profound influence on my life.

I love this podcast so so much!! I’ve been listening to it for a couple years now and I find myself looking forward to every weeks new episode. It gives an opportunity to go deeper into once self and the world around us. I have shared this podcast with many friends and family who have found it equally insightful and meaningful. I’m so thankful for all that I have learned from this podcast over the years.

Interviews
This podcast is at its best when they have a guest for an interview. The early episodes are also really helpful. I struggle with the more recent episodes topic round table but that’s just me. The dream interpretation section often has unique insights but could benefit from the dreamer being a guest to present the dream as it sometimes strikes me that there are assumptions that need grounding.
But this is a real fine podcast that helps get the Jungian ideas out to a new audience. I applaud and give it a 4.5 but am limited in the star rating system.

Unchecked Narcissism
This show used to be really amazing when it was about the topics at hand. Now it just seems to be all about Lisa and she needs to be first and doted on and put on a pedestal. I’m hoping we can go back to the original purpose stated in the intro to the podcast.

Illuminating
Three charming and intelligent analysts engage in captivating conversations that are an amazing introduction to Jungian thought. Uncannily relatable and sparking epiphanies, these conversations range from the personal to social. After listening for months, my dreams have become more cinematic. Thank you Deb, Lisa and Joseph!

Transphobic co-host Marchiano
Lisa Marchiano, alias Lisa Bell in anti-trans networks, has devoted her work to attacking the lived realities of trans, nonbinary, and gender expansive people. She is not alone in this in Jungian circles, but listeners should be aware of her transphobic positions before choosing whether or not to support her via this podcast. A Google search will bring you to her work.
