I’m hoping the Windup continues, both for Starkville and the Roundtable. They both are highly enjoyable, and it’s been quite a while since the last new episode.

With the waves upon waves of games, it’s hard to talk about baseball games. Instead, the roundtable bros talk about the game of baseball. I think? Or sandwiches. Or life? ..they might really just be youth pastors catching up to talk about the 1999 San Francisco giants. No way to know.

Hello! Grant briefly hosted a sf giants podcast that I loved which faded and then died. Sam was on a podcast that I loved which lost its magic for me without him and or Jeff on the pod. Unbeknownst to me Sam and Grant have joined forces and are now close to creating my perfect baseball podcast. If the athletic could poach Ben or Jeff I would be forever grateful. My only complaint is that personally I would like more giants chat. So if any other reviewers says to talk about the Giants less just remember that there is at least one audience member waiting with bated breath for a Denard Span reference. Also I like the other hosts too.

You know, the Roundtable turned into a Dodgers fan podcast so gradually, I didn’t even notice.

Too often in discussions about sports money, salaries, billions, millions, is the center stage. I watch sports, in part, to take the focus off of the monetization of everything. Now, money and player’s salaries ate as much a topic as balls and strikes. No one knew how much Koufax made or John Unitas or even John Elway. It’s polluted sports as I see it. When you watch a movie do you see a display of what every actor made and stay the director made, etc.. I DON’T CARE! Give me X’s and O’s over dollars and cents. Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio?

Andy. Please clear your throat. We can hear when you have phlegm in your throat and it’s not a good listening experience. Good podcast otherwise. Go brewers.

More Round Table less Doug Granville, Starkville is only good because of Stark. Glanville is annoyingly dorky and tells the same five stories.

Great chemistry. Smart. Actually knows the players.

This review is specifically for this week’s episode of the Roundtable. I couldn’t even make it through the entire episode as the hosts’ insufferable whining about having to discuss the Wild Card race was too much to deal with. Any team in the Wild Card chase is obviously going to be flawed but the hosts didn’t even attempt to hide their contempt for discussing these teams and their playoff hopes. Based on what I heard, the hosts don’t even like the sport of baseball at all.

Hey that most recent podcast with Sam and Grant was really really fantastic. Someone should do an analysis if there was something in particular about that episode that made it transcend the others.

Fun banters among the three of them, love their takes. Sam Miller is awesome, have enjoyed listening to him since Effectively Wild. Keep up the great work, fellas

Like Mookie Betts, Pedro Martinez, Mo Vaughn, Jim Rice and Reggie Smith before him, Devers committed the cardinal sin in Beantown and among the schmucks at Duh Globe. Devers ain’t white.

I heard Grant’s joke(?) about it so just want to say that this is the only podcast that I don’t miss an episode of. Opening banter is top notch.

This podcast is consistently great. They say the numbers aren’t great, but I say ignore the old school download numbers and look at the WRC+. Keep doing what you’re doing.

I’m a big Roundtable fan. I both learn and laugh a lot. Keep it coming!

Losing Keith Law and Eno Sarris from the rotation has really hurt this show. Jason Stark is too goofy to take seriously, and I always skip The Roundtable, where writers compete with one another to make the funniest jokes about how bad MLB teams are.

The Roundtable is the only truly great podcast about baseball. It features two super intelligent, funny, and thoughtful wordsmiths and one big miserable dummy who claims to be a jock.

Too much inane chatter about things unrelated to baseball.

The Roundtable is the best podcast period, never mind baseball. Fun interesting dudes talking about ball and ball related things with funny, interesting tangents. Sam Miller is such a great addition. Smart, thoughtful explorations of different unique, personal ideas and observations. Grant and Andy are perfect compliments to each other. Love this show.

I always tune into the Roundtable now that Sam Miller has joined the fray. He’s so very funny and brings real joy and curiosity to baseball commentary. As always, I would prefer that Starkville were shunted to it’s own feed so I wouldn’t have to continually delete those shows from my feed.

First… the Round Table…These guys are knowledgeable and a good listen….when they keep their head in the game. Unfortunately, they seem to style themselves as comedians and entertainers when it really sounds like 3 guys talking at each other in bar without the booze. Want to hear about what a bold prediction is? Prepare for a scintillating 45 minutes of your life you’ll never get back before there is even a point made about the game of baseball. Want to hear if these guys are enjoying the Jets to Brazil reissues or if they ever got into Pavement? Want to hear someone eat on camera and talk about ballpark amenities? Want to hear jaded approaching middle aged sports writers pontificating about the semantics of clubhouse writer culture? Grant and Andy GOT U HOMIE! Wanna hear how bored things get once middle age eclipses? Starkville will snore you through an hour of your day. Well OH BOY did YOU come to the right place! I’m literally only giving this 3 stars because this is supposed to be a baseball podcast channel and I love baseball and don’t want sports journalism to disappear BUT….you guys have GOT TO STICK TO A POINT and TALK ABOUT BASEBALL! I had signed up at one point to pay for podcasts but even the $1 option isn’t worth it when these guys just ramble about nothing resembling baseball talk. I hope this is read and taken to heart. We all want you guys to stay employed and write and talk about baseball because WHEN YOU DO, you’re great! It’s so disappointing when we’re at the last days of Spring Training and we’re talking about hat culture. COME ON GUYS

No It Alls who don’t know jack! For example did you know Jerry Koosman at Age 42 threw 224 innings to 3.25 ERA in 1984 for the Phillies? You could look it up.

Starkville is unlistenable but otherwise these are good, well rounded podcasts. Although not understanding the Monty Hall problem is a concern on a podcasts that likes to discuss game theory…

Any chance of getting a 10 minute ‘Daily Baseball Briefing’? Athletic listeners who are soccer (football) fans get treated to a 10 minute ‘Daily Football Briefing’ every day during the season. It’d be great to have a similar thing for baseball! I do love the shows baseball shows that are here already, especially The Roundtable. Keep it up!

Every other Wednesday, Sam joins Grant and Andy and it’s FUN! Great banter and discussion. Very wild. Effectively so…. 3 of my favorite podcasters. Give them a listen!

I like Jayson Stark as a writer. These guys are awful as podcasters. It’s so horrible to listen to. Bad jokes, inside jokes, just stupid stuff nonstop. They think this is funny? No, it’s not. Not to anyone. Stick to baseball and get some real radio talent to do this podcast and have Stark and Glanville as guests. God this podcast is so bad.

These hosts are stealing money for the athletic. They know nothing about baseball

Awful! I tune in to hear about baseball. Everyone on there seems to hate baseball. Grant is so bad, like he hates being there.

Literally not a single person cares about your personalities or thinks you are funny. We only listen to hear about baseball. Take five minutes before you record to stretch all the cringe out then get to the actual point when you record. I promise we have no interest in indulging your woefully unfunny sense of irony. Wont listen again

Thankfully we have Grant to counteract Andy and his yelling at the clouds to bring back pitcher wins … the only pro labor podcast that does a top front office run down where 3 of top 5 front offices don’t pay their players.
