In the 1980s, Paul Bennewitz had a breakdown after an Air Force agent fed the man's belief in UFOs for years. A scientific panel was convened in 1952 that led Project Blue Book director Edward J. Ruppelt to later criticize the dismissal of UFO sightings and retire early before his sudden death.
