As someone considering on going into finance, I learned a lot by listening to this podcast about the industry and what I might be getting myself into in the future and how I should prepare for it. The episode about the live 2008 recession was fascinating and it provides a different perspective about what happened from what you generally see on the news. And I really like that aspect of the podcast.

When I started my MBA, I had no idea I’d be drawn to a career in finance. Coming from a non-finance background, I was overwhelmed by the number of potential career paths and the jargon-heavy nature of the field. That changed the moment I discovered The Wall Street Skinny. Kristen and Jen break down complex topics in a way that’s both insightful and approachable. Thanks to their podcast, I’ve gained a solid understanding of different roles across finance, current trends, and how to navigate the industry. But more than that, their discussions have directly helped me stand out — in interviews, in class, and in conversations with professionals. It’s more than just a podcast — it’s a mentor, a roadmap, and a confidence boost all in one. If you’re even remotely curious about finance, this should be your first stop.

After switching majors to finance in college I discovered this podcast. It helped me in the beginning understand the differences between finance career paths and the pros/cons of them all, and their guests always provide helpful insight into their field. Can’t say enough good things about this podcast, truly my favorite finance-based podcast, since they work hard to bring new and interesting guests and dive into new topics/areas that I haven’t seen any other podcasts cover. The “Skinny” episodes are also very helpful for keeping up to date on market activities (I love the bond market updates and analysis specifically since I’m less knowledgeable on it). All around great podcast!

Started listening to this show early on, they cover so many topics in finance, as well as provide good career advice that transcends finance jobs. They do a very good job on explaining extremely complex topics with wit and the right amount of depth for lay people and professionals alike. This is a must listen to podcast for people trying to get into the field, or for people just trying to keep up with the crazy markets these days.

As a current buy side analyst this is becoming my go-to podcast for all things financial services and business related! Perfect to listen to while at the gym or on my commute to work pre market.

I’ve listened to a ton of episodes as prep for starting as an IB analyst. It’s been a great primer for me as a liberal arts major and breaks down complicated concepts in a digestible and entertaining way.

I only listened to a few episodes but this podcast was pointless for the guy who’s out in the workforce and spending his spare time trying to figure out how to turn a working wage into a retirement. This show is another chat feast for us workers who didn’t go to Harvard or Princeton to wonder what it would be like to inherit money or grow up in a family where Ivy League education is normal. Who cares🤷‍♂️…

This is what I’ve been looking for! Sure, we can watch Industry without knowing anything about about the finance world because the writing, directing, and acting show you how high the stakes are and the shifting interpersonal relationships and power dynamics drive the stories. But when you actually understand what is happening in a transaction and someone in the know (like Kristen and Jen) contextualizes it, the plot becomes that much richer. I am so excited for you two that you’re just beginning season 1, and you still have two and a half seasons to go. You might want to check out interviews with Konrad Kay and Mickey Down, the creators who worked in finance before this project. Also, you might enjoy the podcast “The Watch” which has been doing incredible analyses of the characters, plot, etc since the beginning. Please, please, please do more episodes to break down the financial aspects of the show. I just watched episode 6 of season 3 last night and things are getting far more complex! Most of us do not understand the intricacies of what’s happening but do get the references to Lehman Bros. Please catch up soon and help us out!

I’m a senior in college in finance and am so glad I found the Wall Street Skinny. With a lotta background knowledge it makes it easier for me to understand this podcast but I believe they do a good job breaking topics down for beginners as well. This podcast has opened my eyes up to many more things finance related and taught me so much. Really great podcast they both are very entertaining to listen to lotta good info on PE and investment banking but also just any high finance career in general.

Extremely informative on banking and finance from two hosts that know the inside workings. They always seem like they are having a blast!

So many jobs in finance feel inaccessible because they are over complicated, or poorly explained. The WSS breaks down topics so well and always has the most incredible guests on their show. I particularly love the “skinny sessions.” Jen and Kristen do a wonderful job at communicating current events and traditional finance , I’ve recommended so many of my friends to listen to the podcast.

I absolutely love the content of this podcast. This is one of the best podcasts ever! Exploring a career in finance can seem complicated with all the possibilities out there. I found this podcast by following their Instagram account for a while…was blown away by the content and quality of the podcasts. This is a wonderful listen for those looking to break into finance, those already in finance, or for those with an interest in financial topics. I was feeling a bit lost in my finance career but these podcasts and their guests (ex: Zoe Cruz) gave me hope and guidance in navigating my career….hopefully it can do so for you too. As a current college student, this podcast is extremely insightful into different areas of financial services. You get to hear from real people in these specific fields and learn what sort of person can fit in these industries. It has allowed me to gain so much knowledge into this industry and help me gain a more well-rounded perspective.

Great podcast ! The girls do an amazing job making financial concepts understandable to people who are not as familiar with this world. As someone who works in finance I love to take their view on current events as well as listen to the older concept episodes to understand other products/strategies I don’t see on my day to day. I saw this on Instagram reels first and then started selectively listening - I started with the Succession episodes. I’ve since worked my way through about 90% of the episodes. Jen and Kristen are hilarious, intelligent and great teachers. I work in talent management in professional services and wish there was podcast like this for my industry. While I’ll never work in finance, I do have a much better understanding of what investment banking v private equity v hedge funds are!

I love the Wall Street Skinny — I have learned a tremendous amount about Wall Street / finance from listening to this show. Not only do they break down all of the complicated concepts you’re too afraid to ask about, they also dive into the unspoken norms and break down the culture. Learning these things have made me more confident in finance circles. I especially enjoyed the Succession episodes and the three part on the Caesar’s LBO. Keep it up!

Hard to believe how much the podcast and IG has grown but not surprised in the slightest. There are so many episodes that I’ll re-listen to when I need a refresher too!
