Lose Gala
Love listening to Quentin & Roger, but then Gala comes in with a truly irritating songbird voice and parrots point by point everything Tarantino says. No one ever disagrees with Tarantino. God forbid someone have a different take than QT once in a while. Other than that...

“I roared and I rampaged. And I got bloody satisfaction!”
Listening to Tarantino talk about movies is my fav thing in this life. He is my movie GOD. (I also worship Trent Reznor and Bill Maher) I cannot wait to listen to this podcast! Tarantino wants his movies to bring people together old school. Like we did at movie stores and theaters. Just like Trent wants for music! Remember when he made everyone buy concert tickets at a box office? So fans could meet each other! I wish so much I lived by one of your movie theaters. I want to be in your club!! I already give this all the stars! I can’t wait to hear it!!!

Paywall??
I consume a lot of podcasts on a weekly basis, the ones that I grow quite fond of I’m happy to support on Patreon, however, I can’t support this show which throughout season one had plenty of advertisements laced through each episode. The idea that you would lock season 2 behind a paywall is very disappointing. I would submit to you that if you offered quality bonus content on your Patreon that you would see an above average retention rate from your dedicated listeners including myself. The idea of being able to interact with Quentin and Roger through Patreon would be enough for someone like myself to subscribe, but the decision to throw season two exclusive to Patreon is a bridge too far for me. Good luck with the podcast, and I hope you will consider reversing course at some point down the road.

Bait and Switch
I was fine with the $8 a month, I loved season 1 and I even bought a VA journal. But I listened to the first 3 episodes and watched most of those first lame films. The Love Bug? I'm sure people enjoyed it and I'm not trying to knock it, but I was totally underwhelmed. Then the Joe Rogan Podcast did it for me. Not for some political reasons and not Roger’s ridiculous takes on the LA fires, but when QT basically says he understands being a completely broke cinephile, but this podcast is for the people who care enough to pay $8 a month to hear it. Really? Something about a millionaire (many times over) telling the audience that the ones who actually care enough are the ones who give him money, didn't sit well with me. Especially after a highly successful first season that was 100% free. And don't tell me you can't make a ton of money off a free podcast. I just mentioned the most successful one. It felt like a bait and switch money grab. Truth is, I'd probably care a little more if it was just QT and guests. Avary's "Franklin Brauner" bits are just brutal and they will not be missed. Boo-urns. Thank god for the Pure Cinema Podcast.

Show has been ruined
Loved the podcast but now it’s basically just an ad for the Patreon. Such bad sales tactics. Disappointed with this choice and how it was handled.

Going to sign up on Patreon
Heard them discuss on JRE the point of being on Patreon, so I will sign up there

My favorite podcast, don’t listen to the complainers.
Why do you have to announce “You’ve lost a listener”? Just leave man. You can’t afford five dollars a month to listen to one of the greatest directors of all time talk about movies?! Really funny.

Avary
First they go on Rogan and then Roger Avary Tweets about antifa starting the fires in LA? Avary has brain rot and I hope he starts drinking and driving again, preferably by some steep cliffs.

Paywall
Went free season one to generate positive reviews put now has a paywall. I’m sure gala receives all the proceeds.

This is a film school lecture! THANK YOU!!!! If you look up the interviews of the people whose insights you care about this is an invaluable podcast. I hope we get these for as long as possible!

Love the show!
QT is my cinema Jesus. I will watch, read, listen to anything QT gives us! Best there is, ever was, or ever will be!

Love the pod, not the paywall
I could listen to Roger and Quentin talk all day about movies. What a pleasure to listen to two people who are so passionate and knowledgeable about one of my favorite subjects. Subtracting one star for new paywall strategy. I understand this is a lot of work but I already have a ton of subs - not sure I can afford another.

Abridged Too Far
I was waiting, with bated breath, for the second season to drop and when it did I was terribly disappointed. I get that it’s a business, they’re trying to generate revenue with the podcast. That’s why it has a ton of ads and every other episode is an advertisement for what’s playing at Quentin’s theaters, but every time I see that there’s going to be a discussion about a movie I’m actually interested in, I get to the end of the episode and Gala tells me I have to pay to hear it. Now, the discussions are interesting and entertaining, but not so good that I’m willing to pay for two thirds of the content. I feel like the whole second season is a bait and switch. Not cool.

Disappointing
What a slap in the face to fans of season 1. Now for season 2 they only play a portion of the episode and try and entice you to sign up for Patron to listen to the remainder of the episode, no thanks, I just won’t listen to any of it instead.

Ruined a good thing
Season One was 5 stars. Season Two with the paywall is 1 star. The main show should be available with ads for everyone. Put ad-free and bonus content on Patreon.

Films they discuss are mostly garbage
Pod is fine. The actual films they discuss are usually mediocre to absolutely awful.

Disappointed
Like other film fans here, it’s disappointing the podcast has moved to a subscription model. I’m subscriptioned out and am moving on.

Loving the Cinema Club eps
The way Gala and Matt talk about these films is really beautiful and always makes me want to hop a plane to LA to attend all the screenings

Et tu, Quentin?
I suppose I should be used to paying for things that used to be free these days. But I had to voice my disappointment here, just because I had really been looking forward to season 2 of this podcast, only for most of it to be hidden behind a paywall. To call this a drag would be an understatement. I guess QT isn’t quite rich enough yet. I may or may not keep listening, but there’s no chance I will subscribe to the Patreon. Shame on you, guys. 👎🏼

Yikes
Tarantino is a barely literate loudmouth and everyone around him a sycophantic toe sucker. He is a talentless hack, and those of you with Scarface posters on your wall will see the light one day. Not only the luckiest man in the film industry but the one who has most bought into his own hype, he hasn’t made a great movie in 28 years, by my count, and that was his only one. But no, please, by all means…I love hearing QT mispronounce the name of every famous actor and well known word, and I can’t get enough of those masturbatory ads for his poorly written tome. Oh, and MORE GALA AVERY! Give the gal(a) her own show! Because that’s what everyone was asking for.

Patreon
I absolutely love this podcast! As a former student in a film school (many years ago), this podcast has helped to reignite my interest in films! As a result of this podcast, I have discovered so many great films that I had not heard of before, especially the Giallo films! However, now I only get to hear/learn about 33.3% of the content unless I pay a subscription? Look, I already pay a lot for internet, cellular, and for the phone that I am using right now. Can you at least make the transcripts available at 100%? That way we can at least have access to all the content.

Incomplete episodes
Most is behind a paywall. And let’s be just guys, this show was amusing, but in no way is the discussion here so vital that it merits having to pay to listen to 75% of the banal back and forth.
Teabaggindragon
Bait and Switch
One of my favorite shows that I was eagerly waiting for season 2. Now 2/3 of the show is behind a paywall. There are other Patreon add-ons subscribers would have gladly paid for. This business model is terrible, I’m no longer bothering to listen since I don’t get the full show.
EntangledMind
Not cool, guys.
Let me start by saying that I’m a fan of Quentin Tarantino. He’s a great filmmaker and knowledgable cineaste. The Video Archives Podcast is one of many movie-themed podcasts that I listen to because I gain a lot out of it. But this new model of hiding most of the show behind a paywall does no favors for its subscribers and illustrates how out of touch these two are. Not all of us can afford to subscribe. Some of us have bills. Now, I understand that it’s not Tarantino and Avary’s problem—I’m not trying to foist my own issues on them—but what I am saying is be mindful of the kind of people your base consists of before you decide to create a paywall. This is not okay, especially since we’re going to be seeing rapidly rising costs in the future.

A great podcast ruined by greed
The first season was fantastic and I was really looking forward to season 2, but alas, it’s paywalled. I’m a huge QT fan and all 3 hosts do a great job. I just wish they hadn’t paywalled me out of it all. Unfollowed, unfortunately.

You need a Patreon? Really?
Really? You?
SethFourTen
Not cool
In a time when so many people are struggling you take what was once free and charge people for it? Do a Patreon like other people do them: Bonus shows, extra interviews, after show content. Don’t take your successful base model, strip the guts from it and expect me to be happy with less.
Galante Love
They think we’re suckers
We wait over a year for new episodes and then without any kind of prior announcement they bury 85% of the show behind a paywall. No bonus episodes of any kind, they’re just offering the same exact show they gave us for free before only now you have to pay for it. This is lazy and greedy. That’s fine though I have plenty of other movie podcasts that I listen to that don’t treat their listeners like this AND most of them have patreons that actually offer worthwhile bonus content. I’d highly recommend checking out Screen Drafts, Blank Check, the Big Picture, The LexG Podcast or the Important Cinema Club for good insightful discussions about film that don’t cost you $5 a month just to hear complete episodes. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

From favorite to won’t listen anymore
Loved the first season, now that the majority of the show is behind a paywall I will not be listening anymore. I believe this is a slap in the face of the fans of the first season. If you needed the money, ask for donations. You can put the after show and very special episodes behind the paywall not the main episode. Though this was a very unique experience, there are plenty of other good podcasts out there that don’t make us pay to hear the whole show

Paywalled? Ugh.
I’d be glad to pay for extra content, but hiding 2/3rds of what season 1 included behind a paywall is terrible.

Paywall is not the way
I don’t mind if you started that way but I stay subscribed hoping you will come back with more episodes and then this. Y’all have more money than god himself but 99% of us do not. I can’t give everyone a patreon donation, maybe for a weekly but not for a weeks worth in a year, so I must now unsubscribe.

Disappointed
I loved season 1 and was excited for season 2. Reading the description I was looking forward to 3 movies and awards. What I got was a bait and switch to get me to sign up for the Patreon. I appreciate there are folks involved with the show that this is their primary source of income, but this is the only movie podcast I listen to that you need a patreon account to listen to the complete main show as opposed to exclusive bonus material. I wish them well but I won’t be joining Patreon and will not be listening to an advertisement for a paywall

2nd Season Greed...
Patreon? Two listen to a clueless rich kid, her annoying dad, and Tarantino testing the limits of his ADHD meds? Nope, not for me. Almost as bad as Gala's infomercial podcast now... I really, with this, I doubt that I'll ever watch any of their films again ubless it's on 123.movies or some other free bootleg.

My favorite podcast!
Really into this although I’m way behind because I like to track down the films they are talking about before I listen so I can better understand what they’re talking about.

Love is…this podcast
More edits: Is Quentin and his family safe? His wife’s family? I am so sorry Israel and its citizens gave been so brutally attacked. Edited to add: I would love for Quentin, Roger and Gala to do an extra sumpin’ sumpin’ Golden Globe discussion as well as The Oscars. I am recommending this podcast to anyone and everyone. Great conversation. Wonderful stories that add layers to the films. The give and take of delightful and insightful information just makes these movies so much more. Terrific teamwork between Quentin, Gala and Roger — impressive and fun. Loved Quentin’s interview for 3 Books (bought one of Pauline Kael’s books at Quentin’s recommend) and purchased Cinema Speculation today. My only complaint is, I hate waiting for new episodes!
