Powell-Trump Building Cost Tour!
A hard-hat Trump tour, I didn’t wanna go!
Advisors saying, “Excessive costs News”, make a show!
“Palace of Versailles” cost comparisons, a low blow!😎
Printing money makes it easy, when remodeling costs aren’t low!

Either way it goes, I’ll be in the heat!

Conservative Ghetto - What is Jack smoking?
Jack seems to think the Texas legislature is Conservative, but I suggest looking closer. The Texas GOP is known as the Republican Party of Texas, which has its own problems being true to conservatism. But add in the Associated Republicans of Texas ART, which is not reliably conservative. They reach across the aisle readily to embrace Democrat policy priorities, and even committee chairmanships.

Whose podcast is this?
I realize that Jack and Victor are friends. In fact, that close friendship, the sharing of film stories, and the ability of each to finish the other’s thought makes for an interesting podcast. But Jack, you really trod on Victor’s space today. You talked over him to the degree it was uncomfortable. I listen to the podcast for a primary purpose of hearing what Victor has to say, not you. Today I had to try to discern the very quietly talking Victor over the loudly talking Jack.

Timeless Wisdom
I have followed you for many years, and all 4 of my kids went to Hillsdale on your recommendation. I would like to suggest that instead of referring to an “Educated” class, you instead call them “Credentialed.” Few graduates of higher education are educated to any meaningful degree. My 3 year old grandson, who listens in on his siblings’ home schooling, explained to me that “Mesopotamia” is “the land between two rivers.” I doubt many PhD graduates know that much!

It’s not a dossier, it’s a drossier
I love the show, victor!! Philosophy Dawg from UGA with much love. But that document should be referred to as the “drossier” because it’s pure garbage

I love VDH encyclopedic analysis of present and past events. A man that smart should be able to master the pronunciation of Nuclear.

Eleni & Immigration Angle
On the 7/15 episode, Jack mentioned re-watching the movie, Eleni (based on the book by Nicholas Gage). Do it - and note the scene where Eleni explains to her children why they cannot hurry up and move to America, to be reunited with their father, because they need “an invitation”. It is striking, given the normalization of unfettered migration and open borders. I am a HUGE fan of the podcast and love the stories about Greece…whether it’s classical history or that infamous littering bus driver from Victor’s time there as a grad student.

Simply the best
I never miss Professor Hanson’s podcasts. In fact, I often listen twice, in case I missed something. I love stories of your growing up on the farm, hearing about your parents and grandparents, and what life was like for you as a child. I grew up in SoCal (Palos Verdes) and later, followed my parents to Irvine, where I met my Marine husband at MCAS El Toro. We raised our two sons in Irvine, but we are now among the California escapees you speak about, moving to Arizona where freedom and lower gas prices make the hot temperatures worth it. Love Jack and Sami and the incredible wisdom of VDH.

Long Term Covid Answer!
VDH needs to listen to the recent interview by Megan Kelly of Dr Soon-Shiong!
“Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, Chairman of the Los Angeles Times, joins to discuss a breakthrough showing our body's "natural kill cell" can be activated and fighting cancer from within, why this could completely rethink how we treat cancer, how Fauci and Collins mishandled COVID, how the Trump administration figures like RFK, Makary, and Bhattacharya can fix the mistakes, and more.”

The legal visa procurement and expenses
I am a fan of VDH and listen every day. I was born in Oxnard and moved to Arkansas but back to San Diego when I was 20 I had a shell gas station at 21 years old and made great money because of the embargo in 73. I purchased 200 shares of Tesla in 2013 and enjoyed all of the splits. Now I’m 76 and I am trying to get my fiancée from the Philippines. I would love for VDH to do a segment on the cost and time required to get someone here legally. I think that amnesty should include a large amount of money and other restrictions. I’m back in Arkansas where I raised 4 daughters

Victor and Movie Reviews
I absolutely love listening to Victor! The podcasts are informative and entertaining. The wisdom and insights are beneficial to all. Besides his podcast & web site we can find Victor on daily signal, Meghan Kelly and many other places. We have numerous daily podcasts by others with news updates.
Some enjoyable highlights from Victors podcasts are when he veers off topic to talk movies or stories of family, farming and growing up.
I think many besides myself would enjoyable something like one day a month having an off topic podcast. Victor could review & discuss war movies on one show, westerns on another, followed by family stories; or even questions submitted by the audience.
Please take a poll and give this idea some thought!

Disappointed
Really wanted a good, reasonable right wing podcast to listen to. This ain’t it. Try Jonah Goldberg or Glenn Loury. Definitely don’t use this to try and convince left wing friends

movie victor should watch
Victor, you and Jack talked about great movies of the past, especially Westerns. Have you seen the 2015 film Forsaken? Director John Cassar with Kiefer Sutherland, Donald Sutherland and Demi Moore? Really fine movie in the tradition of Shane. I think you’d love it.

Enjoyed Jack’s anecdote
I usually tune out Jack’s voice due to the ads but I enjoyed the brief succinct story about his connections to the Waterfront movie. Keep them short and humorous. Thank you Jack!

I’ve waited years for this….
Mr. Hanson, Over the years, I’ve occasionally heard you speak and have really liked your thoughtful opinions and their genuine delivery. About a week ago, I became aware of your regular podcast. What a treasure! I wish I had found it sooner.
From 1984 to 2021, I was a daily listener to Rush Limbaugh. His departure left a hole that your show has now more than filled. I mostly agreed with Rush’s opinions although I less often agreed with how he arrived at them. In contrast, I most always agree with your opinions, AND I agree with how you arrive at them. As an added bonus, I learn things from your show with every episode. Have you ever considered an AM talk radio format?

I really like VDH and own several of his books. But for crying out loud, the sound quality on this podcast is abysmal. Constant popping and clicking and clipping; it’s really annoying. Fix it and I will subscribe again.

I’m 74 years old, a retired RN and I only wish I had known about VDH many, many years ago. Thank you so much for helping me and I’m sure millions of others understand our history as well as present. I listen everyday if possible. Keep up the great work!

Commercials yuck
Love, love, love the podcast. But there is something off about having the co-host selling your ad space. Maybe switch it up. Have Jack do Sami's ads and vice versa.

A Gen Z listener
Mr. VDH’s podcast is a fantastic way to start each day of the week, some people may decry the delay between breaking news and this show’s own publishing, but I find this feature endearing. Question: considering the current spat between Trump and Musk, the two are seasoned political operators; are they playing a charade to garner a wider political support (or other purpose), or are they indeed fighting without purpose?

Love VDH
The Victor Davis Hanson Show is a must-listen for anyone seeking sharp, insightful commentary on politics, culture, and history. Hosted by the brilliant Victor Davis Hanson, a distinguished scholar and Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, the podcast is elevated by the engaging interplay of co-hosts Jack Fowler and Sami Winc. Hanson’s deep knowledge of classicism and historical conflicts shines through in every episode, offering listeners a rare blend of erudition and clarity. Whether he’s drawing parallels between ancient Greece and modern geopolitics or dissecting the roots of contemporary cultural trends, Hanson’s expertise makes complex ideas accessible and riveting.
Jack Fowler, with his wit and grounded perspective as Director for the Center for Civil Society, keeps the discussions lively and relatable, often grounding Hanson’s scholarly insights with practical questions. Sami Winc complements this dynamic, bringing a keen eye for current events and California’s unique challenges, enriching the podcast’s scope. Their chemistry creates a conversational flow that feels like sitting in on a fascinating dinner table debate. From exploring the lessons of historical conflicts to unpacking today’s political flashpoints, this podcast is a treasure trove of wisdom and perspective. Five stars for Hanson, Fowler, and Winc!!

Fair is Foul and Foul is Fowler
5/23/25
Must have walked into wrong classroom. I thought this was VDH's show. Instead it's Fowler drone-cast.
The guy just won't stop prattling and interrupting with his half-wit interjections and unsolicited opinions. When he's not disrupting the flow of prof Hanson's important thoughts, or forestalling them with wholly unnecessary irksome prompts, Fowler's reading interminable ads in his insufferable atonal monotonous drone. Please make it stop.
4/22/25 Maybe the podcast should be renamed "The Jack Fowler Show"
Between Mr Fowler's interminable reading of multiple ads, his longwinded, utterly superfluous, introductions & prompts to every question, and his irksome interruptions throughout, it seems Fowler takes up more air time than professor Hanson's commentary.
Were it not for Fowler's excessive participation with a voice not made for Radio, VDH's podcast unquestionably would merit five stars.
I try to listen on weekends only, when Sammi Winc is the co-host, just to avoid the sound of Jack Fowler's voice, which I find exceedingly disagreeable.
12/14/24
Jack's antics get fouler and fouler.
He manages to make Professor Hanson's otherwise superb podcast unbearable. The superfluous interjections ("yeah," "right," "oh yeah!" etc.) disrupt and throw spanners into the poetry and logic of VDH's delivery. The obsequious giggling; the chortling; the garrulous prompts; the sound of heavy breathing: make it stop!
Perhaps his voice would be less grating if half the recording did not consist of Fowler wheezing through interminable ads with irksome intonation and insufferable inflection. Businesses should insist on a non-grating voice talent for the ads they pay for.
12/3/24
I may need to limit listening to weekend editions w Sami.
Jack Fowler is a smart, talented writer with many gifts. Serving as co-host to the great VDH, however, is not his forte, in my opinion.
His monosyllabic interjections -- e.g., "yeah"; "heh heh heh heh"; "ug"; "right"; "right"; "right"; &c. --are quite disruptive. He must be unaware that he's ruining the rhythm of Prof Hanson's expositions, and thereby spoiling the listening experience. How disappointing and unpleasant it is to hear VDH's mellifluous commentary so frequently pillaged by meaningless exclamations.
The long prompts preceding each topic seem to grow ever longer. Why not just say something like, "Please tell us your thoughts about _____." No one needs the interminable introductions and explanations. I get the sense from other reviews that my irritation w JF is shared by many.
These problems are easily remedied. I hope Mr Fowler will heed the suggestions of many reviewers and curtail his commentary to let the professor speak!
11/26
I know a lot of reviewers complain about Mr. Fowler's garrulousness, but I will not mention that in a review, as it would be disrespectful to a fine intellect and writer. (Practicing my rhetorical devices, haha)
2) Jack Fowler (10/17/24 show) referenced a hearing in the appeal of New York's property-appraisal case against President Trump. Mr. Fowler said the hearing took place in the "high court" of New York. If he's referring to the hearing on Sept 24, 2024, he's mistaken. That hearing took place in the Appellate Division, which is the mid-level appellate court. The "high court" in New York is the Court of Appeals. (For reasons too tedious to explain, the trial court, the lowest level in the hierarchy, is called, absurdly, in my view, the "Supreme Court.")
