What happened to this content?
I am a long time premium member. Recently there are other podcasts in this feed. I follow some of these but when I am listening to the Sleepy Bookshelf, I want to hear Elizabeth not Oprah or Jay Shedy. Please go back to the other system.

Now advertising OTHER PODCASTS in the feed!
Suddenly The Sleepy Podcast list of episodes is absolutely littered and clogged up with freaking suggestions to listen to OTHER PODCASTS labeled ‘you might like’ “bonus” episodes!! STOP ADVERTISING OTHER PODCASTS! So now we have to scroll through all that mess just to find the next episode? Even before that, there are jolting advertisements at the start of most episodes, so heaven forbid you DO go to sleep, because the very next episode is going to WAKE YOU UP. And if you do actually pay attention, you’ll notice numerous errors, usually in the summary of the previous episode - as if the narrator just reads what’s written and hasn’t actually comprehended what she just covered in the previous episode. Listen for long and you’ll give up, too!

Sleep made possible
Elizabeth has the most calming voice ever. I have tried quite a few sleep apps but Sleepy Bookshelf beats them all.

Wonderful
Best way to go to sleep. Quiet and beautiful feeling eases you in to sleep like in the womb.

My favorite!
I’ve listened to a few sleepy podcasts but as a reader and lover of classic literature, this is my favorite. Elizabeth’s voice is soft and beautiful. I love the recaps of previous episodes bc I almost always fall asleep quickly. Occasionally I am gripped by the book and am too interested to fall asleep but most of the time it’s not an issue. Highly recommend, 10/10!

Better than drugs
This has helped me hundreds of times to fall asleep. Fantastic narration. Well produced. Ads will wake you so I broke down and paid $4.99 a month.

This is my third favorite podcast ever I love this podcast and I can’t stop listening to it! I love the Wizard of Oz ones especially they stand out to me a lot. And I really love them. I think that you if you’re looking for any podcast, you should help me pick up the sleepy bookshelf because it’s really good for not just sleeping. Thank you for reading this good night.

Really enjoy the stories but the ads…
So, I really like this app and try to listen regularly. The music, the recaps, the narrators voice. All great. However, the ads - they are loud. Significantly louder than the rest of the podcast. I have to turn the podcast down, let the ads run, and then turn the volume back off. This isn’t a huge deal but it is a pain when I’m just trying to go to bed (and avoid handling my phone). I appreciate that ads are needed to fund the podcast but it would be so helpful if they’d turn the volume of them down. It actually puts me off of supporting the advertisers.

Elizabeth's Reading is AMAZING
I agree with others that Elizabeth's skills of hosting, narrating, and reading the stories are simply amazing!! Her voice is so soothing that she really does lull me to sleep. ☺️ THANK YOU SO MUCH, ELIZABETH!!!!! I don't think I've ever heard the end of an episode because of the way she reads; instead, I fall asleep before the episodes end. The only thing I don't like is that when I asignaciones to Pro, the no -pro version of the show remained in my YouTube music library. But that's a YouTube issue, not a podcast issue. I didn't even realize that's why I would sometimes hear ads despite having paid for premium until tonight when I wanted to see if I had missed any episodes of the most recent book I'd finished listening to with Elizabeth : A Tale of Two Cities. So far, there has been only one book that I found too stimulating to fall asleep to. I think that's a very good stat!

Elizabeth’s Voice (s)
I have never heard a reader with as much talent as Elizabeth Grace. Her narrator voice is beautiful and relaxing, and she convincingly presents each character, male or female, as a distinct individual. The stories selected for reading are awesome, but I bought the subscription to Slumber Studios because of Elizabeth’s skill. -Cassie in Texas

Too much to subscribe
As much as I love this and would like to subscribe I just can’t bring myself to pay $7.99 to listen to special stories…. as much as Netflix and other movie channels, especially when the whole point is to fall asleep and not finish the story and get a recap. Maybe charge half and and go for volume? Just a suggestion.

The adds loud, besides that love the podcast been listening for 2.5years now

LOUD ads
There are LOUD ads. They moved them to the beginning of each episode. The problem is that when you play a book through the night, you are still startled awake between episodes on auto-play. I would subscribe, but the price is ridiculous. If it was about 50% of the current price I might be able to afford it. Even the annual cost is just too much.

Love Elizabeth!
Love the old stories from spoken by and written by female authors! Elizabeth’s voice has become so comforting it’s hard to find another voice if I’m not into the current story but I can always go back in time because I can never make it through a whole episode before falling sweetly to sleep 🫶🏼

Nice
Love this podcast and relied on for quite some time to fall asleep. However, I just can’t get into this Dickens tale, no matter how many restarts. It’s roughhh. I must abandon the podcast for now but I’ll return as soon as you have a new story. Thanks and sweet dreams!

Dickens
I tried, but such depressing stuff just isn’t for bedtime. Reality is bad enough, I don’t want to be more of a victim. Maybe the next season will be better. Great podcast though.

Loud Ads Ruin Experience
I have listened to and loved this podcast for about two years and recommended it to everyone I know. I hate to have to give such a low rating, but the loud ads at the beginning of the episode are a complete turn off for me. To go from Elizabeth’s soothing voice to the super loud advertisements, with literal dogs barking at times, is jarring and throws off the whole listening experience. I understand that ads are necessary for the free version of the podcast, but if there’s a way for them to be read in Elizabeth’s voice, which was done in earlier episodes, that would be much better. Until then, I’ll have to find another podcast to help me fall asleep at night.

Guaranteed to fall asleep before the end of an episode
I can’t tell you how any episode ends because the cozy atmosphere of this podcast knocks me out every time. Thank you for the much needed sleep!

Its really good for sleep except for the fact that there are ads and it costs money to finish a story

Love this show!
The readers voice is the by far the best I've found in the sleep section. Also, so fun to discover these classics. I'm going to join to Support this show.

LOVE IT ♥️
I love this podcast so much! Now I sleep much better & love drifting off to the sound of Elizabeth’s voice, it’s so calming! My only complaint if the commercials are so loud that I wake up, & that some of the episodes are kinda short. Otherwise absolutely love! Thank you! ♥️
wow in the world super fan
Great show!
Really helps you to sleep!

No nightmares
if I don’t listen to the podcast I get horrible horrible sleep and the best part about this is the stories and her voice is so soothing and it helps me go to sleep😴
no nightmares
Love it
I look forward to going to bed and listening to these wonderful stories. I’m not much of a reader, so I love having someone read for me. My only complaint is, the commercials are so loud, so if I fall off, it blast in my ear and wakes me.. I set the timer most nights, to when episode ends to avoid them. other than that, I love, love, this pod cast, and Ann’s voice lulls you to sleep. Thank you Anne

The best way to fall asleep
I have had trouble falling asleep for a long time but not i fall asleep within 20 minutes of starting the podcast! I really enjoy the breathing and reminders that all i have left in the day is to fall asleep. Elizabeth Grace’s voice is very relaxing i could listen to her talk about taxes and fall asleep just as easily. The story’s really help having something to help my mind focus without the requirement to stay awake for the whole story because of the recaps. I seriously love this podcast so much it’s genuinely improved my life!

Grace has the Best Voices!
The Sleepy Bookshelf will always be my favorite! Grace‘s characters bring the stories to life like no other! I find myself listening while crafting or doing laundry or cooking because I love her delightful voices and her delivery allows me to understand the stories in a way I never imagined possible. Some nights I don’t want to fall asleep, but I’m out like a light after a short time every night. Phenomenal. Thank you so much.

Love, love, love!
I've been listening to The Sleepy Bookshelf for a few months now. I always have it on as I'm falliog asleep. Elizabeth is my favorite narater, and Anne of Green Gables series by LM Montgomery is my favorite collection on the bookshelf. I have very high anxiety, and The Sleepy Bookshelf not only helps me calm down before bed, but has also opened my mind to meditation with the "wind down" segment. Thank you Elizabeth and team for creating this beautiful podcast. You have a listener for life in me! :-)

Changes in voice are startling
I want to like this podcast. The stories are good and I like the reader’s voice however she changes pitch, tone, and sometimes volume when switching between characters. I find it enough to jar me awake.

Love this Podcast!
Elizabeth does such an amazing job of reading, the accents, and the cadence. Highly recommend, whether you want to relax in a good story or fall asleep gently. So far I’ve listened to Heidi and The Secret Garden. Loved both.

Love it so far
I love the narrators voice and the stories. I just wished they grouped each story into seasons or made it easier to find the stories using the drop down. I don’t listen to the stories in order and it’s a pain when I have to scroll a lot to get back to story I was listening too.

Santa Claus stories
I so wanted to listen to these readings. Unfortunately the audio quality made it difficult for me to hear what the narrator was saying. Her voice sounded muffled and it was challenging to understand her enunciation.

Wonderful Podcast
I could listen to Elisabeth read books all day. I don’t sleep to them because I’m so interested in what is going to happen next. The Sleepy Bookshelf is my way of relaxing in the evening with the soothing music in the background.

The Enchanted April
I’ve been listening to The Sleepy Bookshelf for a few months now and I can’t recommend it enough. It took me about six weeks to finish The Secret Garden because I just couldn’t stay awake and now l’m on episode 15/15 of Enchanted April but four nights in I still haven’t heard the ending! Elizabeth’s voice and soft, smooth reading is guaranteed to sedate anyone. Amazing.

Hard to listen - not soothing voice
Narrator very nasal. Very nasal voice. And speaks in a staccato fashion. The narrator voice more important than the storyline because that's what should be soothing!! This is not job for her.

Amazing
I’ve always had trouble sleeping, but it helped me go to bed every single night. Her voice is calming

Better than Ambien
Elizabeth does a beautiful job of sharing her gift. A soothing voice with calm, loving presence. I look forward to my next visit.

How can you make it subscriber only in the middle of a book?
Truly cannot sleep without this podcast. I have been using it for years now. I would normally give this show five stars. However, I am now unable to listen to Treasure Island in the MIDDLE of the book because the two most recent episodes have been changed to subscriber only. That feels really unfair to change it while the book is still actively happening. Some of us live paycheck to paycheck and we can't be subscribers. I am thoroughly disappointed and annoyed by this move.

Outstanding!
The real star of The Sleepy Bookshelf is Elizabeth Grace and her mesmerizing, soft, enchanting, voice ! It is my security blanket! I listen at least 4 times a week. The variety of audiobooks and short stories are certainly diverse and appealing to most . My all time favorite, so far, had been “The Enchanted April”. Thank you Elizabeth for helping me get a good night sleep. Karen OConnell

**EDIT: lots of cuts in episode 8 of treasure island
EDIT; there are a lot of cuts in episode 8 that just cut off what Elizabeth is saying. Even her name is “I’m -bith” and the catch up part had 4 cuts. Just flagging for your team! Original subject: Fantastic - please do all Anne of Green Gables series!! My favorite podcast to fall asleep to - please do the entire Anne of Green Gables series, they’re my favorite! The jane eyre book was surprisingly creepy and I ended up not finishing listening to all of it, just because I like more wholesome positive vibes for going to sleep - as my dreams get quite imaginative. Thanks for such an amazing podcast!

Used to be great
This podcast used to be great. All of the obnoxious commercials have ruined it. One or two calm commercials would be fine. But many loud overstimulating commercials on a sleep podcast defeat the purpose.

Love this podcast!
I have yet to hear an entire episode of The Sleepy Bookshelf, as I fall asleep so quickly listening to her soothing voice! I had checked out audiobooks from our public library to help me fall asleep, but their voices weren’t always conducive to sleeping, or I’d get too invested in the story. But with this podcast, I know her voice is perfect and I’ll get a recap of what I missed in the next episode. It works wonders for me!

Thank you for this podcast! I look forward to sleeping now because I love “reading” these books with you before I sleep. Please consider doing John Steinbeck’s Cannery Row or Travels With Charley. Thanks!
