Strength and Length
Love the podcast, especially when Tommy and Cooley are on. Despite giving a 5 star review, I do have one critique. A while ago you got on someone about how to pronounce strength and length and how the g is silent. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, both pronunciations, with and without the g sound, are acceptable. Only difference is, one is much more annoying to listen to than the other. I’ll let you decide which one that is. Keep up the good work and remember it’s okay to pronounce those g’s!

Get over the name
What used to be a good show is unbearable to listen to every time he brings up the old name…which is frequent and often biased.

“Nobody Cares About This”? Yes, we do!
Whenever Kevin says, “Let’s move on, nobody cares about this,” he’s wrong! Kevin - it’s JULY! That’s all we care about (at least until September)! Whether it’s Thommie’s fight with his neighbor over the appropriate place for packages, Kevin’s foray into mushrooms, Thommie’s graphic eye procedure, or the weather in Powell, Wyoming, keep it coming! The only reason I listen when the otherwise biggest “news” is a Truth Social post, is to hear the banter between two men that have been part of my life since I was a teenager (I’m now 37).
P.S. Did you see Jahmir Young dropped 40 in the NBA Summer League? Looks like Toronto finally found their star! (that’s trolling)
P.P.S. Watch The Wire! How you have time to watch a documentary on a 1960s pin up girl but not a single episode of one of the greatest shows of all time based in your home state is mind boggling!

Great Show
Living out of town, there is no better podcast to stay up to date on all things DC sports. It would be nice if Kevin would admit that Andy’s wife was correct many years ago that Turgeon wasn’t the guy (this is Andy’s son 🤣). Keep up the great work!

Love this show
Absolutely love the podcast—smart, funny, and always a great listen. The stories, chemistry, and insights are consistently top-notch. Would love to hear more from Thom, especially about the legendary bad taste some of those old radio bosses had when picking holiday party restaurants. That deserves a full segment. Keep it coming

Great week of guest!
Love your show Kevin! I no longer live in the area however will be a DC sports fan till the bitter end! I especially enjoyed the guest you had on this week! Good stuff! Your knowledge and passion for our sports teams are 2nd to none only surpassed by your INCREDIBLE memory! You’re the best! I also enjoy the conversations and debates between you and Thom! Keep up the good work and I/we (your devoted followers) will keep listening! All the best! #skins #ALLCAPS

Cooley Film Breakdown gets 5⭐️
Chris Cooley gives this 5 stars. Kevin and Thom are great, but Cooley is the best. I’ll follow him if he ever left. No Cooley as he is busy coaching so this drops to 4 stars. I will not listen until he is on again. Kevin and Thom are still good, but other WFT podcasts are better. Also, way too much time spent on the old racist name. I didn’t think it was racist when I was a kid, but once I stepped away from it as MY team’s name. It clearly is not PC. Stop trying to bring it back. Commanders is a terrible name, but because it is dumb not because it is racially insensitive.

The top pick in the podcast rotation, Kevin is the best. Love the guests, especially Tuesday’s and Thursday’s with Thom. I got nothing else for you boss.

Honest a DC fan, enthusiastic coverage
Not as always as objective as he tries to be but great in-depth coverage of all DC sports with the exception on Caps, and Mystics (it’s for the best) and too much basketball for me but I know that subjective.
Thanks Kevin

Commanders = Skins?
Kevin,
I love the podcast! I love your down-to-earth takes, your passion for DC sports and was especially impressed with how you held court at the 106.7 the Fan vs. Team 980 event in Feb 2024. I hadn’t really listened until 2020 but thought your raw stances on some of the buffoonery that was going on in Ron’s first year was so refreshing and hilarious (mixed messages, changed expectations, Haskins at the Club, to name a few). Specifically, when you, Cooley, Thom, or whoever your guests were got a little “explicit” in your collective frustrations, I was laughing out loud. You do a great job as a host, a facilitator, an interviewer, a guest on other shows, and the list goes on!
As a lover of the NFL, I have noticed that teams are referred to affectionately by their fanbases as plenty of things. Some are shortened versions of the team nickname, some are a unique take on the team nickname, and some are just tangentially related to the team nickname. For example, some that are shortened: the Pats, Them Boys, the Jags, the Bucs, etc. Some that are unique takes: go Pack go, Bills Mafia, raider nation, etc. Which leaves me to the tangentially related: the Bolts (chargers), the birds (eagles), the flock (ravens), the dirty birds (falcons), monsters of the midway (the bears), the Dawg Pound (browns), Big Blue (giants). With that said, since Manders and Coms and Commies and Cs all stink, why on earth can’t we start an initiative to informally call the commanders “THE SKINS”?! Not in secret either but as our unofficial nickname to the nickname. Shouted at games, on the street, etc. These things start with the fans anyway. So, start it up for us! On the airwaves on 980, call them “the skins” constantly and it can spread to other 980 hosts, hosts on The Fan, and in 9 months, we all are calling them “The Skins” as our term from those in the know; the “in crowd.” The team may even follow in suit with hashtags of “skins”, broadcasts may say “skins”, and the actual nickname will stay Commanders and be used, as well. Redskins will never come back and shouldn’t anyway (look at the history of why it was even the redskins; blame Boston, poor football attendance, and the passion for the RED Sox). But “skins” is harmless, its ours, and can be like the “Birds” is to the Eagles!
Keep up the great work! And as Doc says when evoking Coach Thompson, “You are simply.. one of the best!”

Gibbs’ best single-game coaching jobs
Kevin,
Like many, I love the show, and I particularly love it when you and Thom are together and you discuss history. With our (the Skins) fanbase as tormented as it has been, I think it's important for all of us (younger and older) to learn about/reflect back on good times and greatness.
Since this is the slowest time of year on the sports calendar, I went to YouTube and came across the 1986 NFC Divisional Playoff game when the Skins visited Chicago.
You've often mentioned (and I agree) that the 1990 NFC Wild Card win in Philadelphia was one of the most satisfying wins in franchise history. But what are Coach Joe's greatest coaching jobs for single games? That would be one of them.
I'd argue that another that is sooooo often overlooked is the 1986 NFC Divisional Playoff win at Soldier Field, when, with Jay Schroeder at QB, the Skins knocked off the defending Super Bowl champion Bears, who were basically all intact from the dominant '85 team (with the large exception of Buddy Ryan calling the defense).
Although Doug Flutie was at QB instead of Jim McMahon, it was still a game not many believed the Skins would win.
Many cite the following year’s win in the bitter cold with Doug Williams and Darrell Green’s heroics, but the ‘86 (January ‘87) win was just as impressive, if not more.
Although they lost the next week at the Meadowlands, it was a tremendously satisfying win, Walter Payton's final game, and I wonder what you and Thommy's Top 5 all-time Gibbs coaching performances (single games) would be. It's such a hard list to comprise since such a great coach and man had so many big wins.
Thanks for delivering such great content to those of us who are fans of the city and area's teams.

Redskins 21st Century Mt Rushmore
Hey Kevin, Big fan of the show and big skins fan from Texas! Love Thom Tuesdays and Thursdays. Who’s your Redskins Mt Rushmore in the 21st Century? I have London Fletcher, Trent Williams, Ryan Kerrigan, and Santana Moss. I wanted to put JD5 on there already but one more season like last year will have him on there.

Lengthy Kevin Appreciation Post
I am a 30-year-old die-hard Skins fan who has listened to Kevin for decades now. Whether it was tuning in to his pre/post-game coverage on the way to or from FedEx, the ESPN980 app, or now the podcast, Kevin has always been excellent and rational in his thoughts pertaining to this team.
Hand up, Kevin—I’ll admit I was firmly in the “get on board or get out” crew and would always find myself shocked that you weren’t as optimistic as I was (a naive teenager/young adult) about acquisitions like Donovan McNabb, Adam Archuleta, Brandon Lloyd, etc. In my defense, at that age, it’s hard to understand just how critical competent, drama-free ownership is. You did a phenomenal job putting that into perspective.
As I matured, you helped me realized that nothing positive would happen regarding this team until he was no longer the owner. My Sundays became a weekly comedy: What opponent will they lose to by 35 at home in a half-empty stadium this week? Who from the front office will be accused of sexual harassment this time? Will the FBI raid our football facility today? Will sewage pour onto our fans during this game? What flashy acquisition will they make this week that will inevitably fail miserably—Jason Taylor? Carson Wentz? Haynesworth? #WinningOffTheField
When the bombshell broke that he was exploring the possibility of selling, your coverage throughout was excellent. I could sense the rejuvenation and passion in your podcast. And although I still watched every game since 2001, I finally considered myself “back.” I still get chills from the passionate rant you went on, pleading for our team back and calling out Dan for holding us hostage for decades.
This year was special in the fact that you were able to focus on just football—and what a spectacular season we had. It’s crazy to think that’s how it should have and could have been all these years. I’m happy my sons won’t have to suffer what I went through, and I’m fired up for what’s ahead.
Keep up the great work, my friend, and thank you for always bringing it strong.
P.S I wish Cooley was on more!

Fan base impatience is justified
Kevin - I never write to the podcast, although I listen everyday, but I stopped by the radio show recently and it seems the fan base is growing impatient with Adam Peters’ performance in the draft. I did some research and it turns out he hasn’t put together a roster that reached the playoffs since Jayden Daniels’ first season in Washington. Interested in your thoughts.
Thanks for the great work!

RFK is back?
Kev 5 stars as always. All signs are pointing to getting our team back in the district. But, I have to think though will Mr. Purify have a strong opinion pushing back on this great news, as his opinion all along has been Landover has been the path of least resistance? Maybe Thom will harken the words of Kool & The Gang and have a celebration for this news!

Second To None
The Snyder era finally got me, along with the name change. I left the fanbase and wasn’t planning to come back. But now with new ownership and the success of 2024, I’m back home. And while those are main factors, one of the biggest has to be that I missed listening to Kevin’s podcast everyday.
As someone who tried to be a fan of another team, trust me when I say it’s hard to find the analysis and charisma that Kevin brings to sports talk. I dearly missed listening to him and Thom Loverro talking sports and about anything and everything, and now that I’m back to regularly listening (I tuned in for the smell test still) it feels like my sports fandom is complete once again.
Thank you Kevin for helping to bring me back to my Washington Football fandom. It’s not the same with the new name, it likely never will be, but at least we have a legitimate football team to talk about now, win or lose.

True DC original
Long time first time. I’ve been a fan of Washington DC sports since the 1980s and I’ve been listening to podcasts for at least 15 years but in the last two years, I have really grown to become a huge fan of the Kevin Sheehan show which he does a great job of doing a radio show that can also be enjoyed as a podcast. Good insight, good takes. Keep it up

Oh man here we go…
Love the show Kevin, love the insight and POV you provide…and regardless give you a 5 star…just dont mess with the “Snyder” talk anymore…sometimes I feel like you guys just don’t wana let it go…trust, I get the roller coaster experience and skepticism….and how easy it was to have constant news to report with that era…but that ship has sailed…Thom simply just sounds like he’s whining all the time and that is def a turnoff…however his insight does have merit and I respect it….just because someone doesn’t agree with everything doesn’t mean you don’t have a great show! Good job to the both of u Ogs…you simply can’t ignore experience and you guys def have it!

Love the show from day one. Grew up at RFK in 80’s. Went to all the same big games as you. My dad went to Kentucky v. Texas Western at Cole Field House as did your father. Loved the Captain Fantastic Elton John pinball machine reference. My family had one in our house as a kid. We used to play “hotfoot” game on Captain Fantastic. Loser put up his shoe, we would take aerosol can and lighter and flame the losers foot. Happy memories! Dave from Alexandria.
