Hope
Thank you. My husband and I enjoy listening to this together. We especially enjoyed 2/25 Rabbi and Priest episode. We feel increasingly marginalized in our church which has become very dogmatic and authoritarian. The grace and thoughtfulness you bring are refreshing. And it gives me hope knowing that we aren’t alone.

Love Kaitlyn Schiess
Kaitlyn Schiess remains my favorite voice on the show - so thoughtful, engaging, charitable, challenging in how Christians should wisely engage with politics and culture. Especially appreciate discussions with church history/theology for deeper context to help process current events. Phil brings levity. Appreciate Esau when he’s on too.
I do wish they broke up episodes since an episode often feels like two disjointed parts. I’d rather it be two episodes in a week, one interview & one cultural commentary. Just my personal opinion. But been a 5+ year listener now!

Unsubscribing
The show after Easter weekend you talked and laughed about absolutely stupid stuff. For 50 minutes. There is a lot going on in the world right now and the church needs your voices and you decide to talk about nothing. Very disappointing. No longer worth my time.

Grateful for this podcast
I’m so grateful that I started listening to this podcast a few years ago. There aren’t a lot of places out there where you can listen to Christians discuss current events with such compassion and respect, while also being funny and entertaining! You can tell Phil, Skye and Kaitlin genuinely get along and enjoy what they do. Pro-neighbor content is what we could all use these days! My faith is very important to me and I try to stay in the middle politically but I lean different ways depending on the issue. I have friends and family on both sides of the aisle, and I always try to keep an open mind about issues. I have learned a lot from this podcast, and I am so grateful to be part of this wonderful community of Holy Posters.

Episode 712, Theology of Glory vs Theology of the Cross
Just listened to the interesting episode 712, the New Fundamentalism. In one form or another, the topic has been a common theme since Trump 45, and yet I’ve never heard from anyone on any podcast, etc., frame the question of power vis-a-vis Christianity as framed in Lutheran theology: the Theology of Glory and the Theology of the Cross. What we’ve been seeing over the past 10 years is the eager embrace by Christians of the Theology of Glory. I’d like to see an episode on this topic.

So happy to be a Holy Poster! Love the thoughtful, pro neighbor, Christian content without overly angry or fearful vibes around sensitive and serious current events. Thank you, Phil, Skye, Kaitlyn, and the whole team!

Stopped Listening
I listened to the show for a while drawn in initially by the man who created VeggieTales and I stayed for the thoughtful commentary from graduates of some fine institutions of learning. I stopped listening when Skye started saying whole groups of people are bad based upon their region, race, and vehicle preference. They need to broaden their connections beyond midwest/northern and liberal. They seem to really live in a bubble, and clearly do not understand the perspective of or diversity of thought in people they seem to hate.

A little constructive criticism…
Love the show and all the other Holy Post shows, especially Esau’s show. My only issue is at the end of some of the episodes, Skye will interrupt the interview and say if we want to listen to the other half of the interview that we have to subscribe to their Patreon account, which I have no problem with.. the problem is that he says the interview was too long to fit into the show, which, (in my opinion) is really disingenuous to say.
I listen to other podcasts that are literally 4 hours long, so please quit saying that the guest interview was too long to fit into an hour and a half podcast. Just be honest and say all the reasons why you want or need us to pay for your Patreon subscription. I’m sure you guys have several great reasons to subscribe.

I’ve listened since the beginning…
I still very much miss Christian!
And now I’m very disappointed to see that the holy post has stooped to tactics of playing partial episodes to try to cajole people to subscribe
Shame on you!!

Love this podcast!
This podcast has helped me make sense of current events and some evangelical Christians viewpoints about politics. I have listened for 5 years. I feel like I know the hosts. I read the books they recommend and appreciate their faith filled approach to the Bible as we go through these strange and difficult times. I also love their banter. Skye is very smart, Kaitlyn is well read and intelligent. Esau is full of wisdom! Phil makes me laugh.

Ignorant
Good to finally see the bullying on the left called out. Regarding more important topics: Phil and Skye - the authority and insight you posses regarding illegal immigration and criminal activity is incredible. Your depth - your wisdom. It’s clear you’ve spent a tremendous amount of time in communities run by gangs and cartels. Your insight regarding the plight of trafficked women and children trapped in these communities is absolutely awe inspiring. Please keep speaking on these topics. You look like geniuses. Please - watch TV and then tell us what you heard from your favorite news sources. It’s truly inspiring. Passing this podcast on to trafficked women and children - they’ll love your bravery and insightful solutions to their problems. They’ll be so happy to see ice removed so their criminal captures can remain free. Thanks guys. You’re truly courageous men.

Must listen!
This podcast has been a go-to for years and they continue to break down current events and spiritual matters with balance and respect. I want everyone I know to listen to this every week! I’ve already gotten a few family members listening.

Two Years of Listening, Still Waiting for Balance
I’ve kept up with The Holy Post for over two years now, not because I agree with it, but because a loved one is heavily influenced by the podcast and often references its ideas. I wanted to understand what they were hearing and why it resonated so strongly.
The show presents itself as a thoughtful Christian podcast engaging culture with nuance. In practice, however, it consistently leans left while claiming distance from partisan politics. Criticizing the far right; especially Christian nationalism, seems to be a regular feature of the show, which is fine and often warranted. But if the stated goal is to evaluate politics/culture through a Christian lens, the imbalance becomes hard to ignore.
What’s largely absent is any serious critique of far-left expressions of Christianity, particularly when progressive political commitments collide with historic Christian teaching. For example, public figures like Hillary Clinton frame themselves in Christian moral language while strongly supporting abortion and shifting positions as the Democratic Party continues moving left. She’s even publishing material in major outlets like The Atlantic that blend religious rhetoric with policies fundamentally at odds with orthodox Christianity, yet this side of the conversation is rarely addressed.
If the podcast truly aims to help Christians think faithfully rather than tribally, it should be willing to challenge all political ideologies with equal clarity. Right now, the show feels less like a Christian critique of politics and more like progressive politics filtered through Christian language. That’s disappointing for listeners looking for theological consistency and genuine balance.

Love hearing Phil’s thoughts and point of views. You’ve become another Mr Roger’s to my generation who grew up with veggie tales, now use What’s in the Bible with our kids, and can still listen to your wisdom as adults on this show. Thanks for continuing to seek God in your everyday and provide space for conversation in these times

A balm
One of the few bright spots in the media-sphere.
Come for the encouraging content about what Christian’s are doing to support the marginalized and oppressed, for nuanced takes on current political and current happenings, but then stay because the humans making this podcast are kind, generous, thoughtful, and have a delightful a sense of humor and camaraderie. Thank you so much for your time and labor.

The Tension
Thank you so much for providing such thoughtful commentary in this important moment. It was on this podcast where I first heard a phrase that finally spoke to how I have felt over the past several years as a Christian trying to navigate these charged political waters. I’ve always felt too conservative for the far left and too liberal for the far right. In an interview Kaitlyn spoke with a pastor (can’t remember his name) where he spoke about the tension Christians should live in, where the only camp we should ever fully find ourselves in is that of Jesus. Thank you all for the work you do.

Episode 698
I appreciate the Palestinian perspective addressed on your show. Years ago I read a book called Blood Brothers by Archbishop Elias Chacour (Galilee) which documented his experiences growing up in the Holy Land. I have had to do my own research into the history of the area as what I learned in school and/or the church was inaccurate and so very very wrong.

The only centrists I respect
As a Christian who is also a socialist and who finds themselves most at home in Greek Orthodoxy these days, I have many disagreements with the three hosts. Yet, I find their analysis deeply helpful in understanding American Christian politics. They also provide a more reasonable articulation of Evangelicalism which I wish was more common. The faith would be better for it.
God bless yall.

Great show
With all the content available, it shouldn’t be this difficult to find Christian commentary that provides an even-handed non-politicized view of modern culture and events. I’ve been very happy listening to Phil and his crew in this regard as they provide thoughtful, challenging, and entertaining commentary on the days’ events. People of all political stripes should give it a listen and acknowledge our shared, messy, and loving faith.

I’ve watched a change… in you…
I am a binge listener who has gone back to the beginning and listened forward. This show used to be mostly about being a Christian while navigating life and politics with the intention of living like Jesus. Unfortunately, it has slowly evolved into a political podcast that has Christianity as a hollow shadow behind it. Basically it’s just pod save America without the profanity and a small reminder that if you are a Christian, you should think the way they do. And that’s fine, especially if you are a leftist Christian, but if you are a centrist or conservative, it gets old fast. I am interested in Christian theology and its modern application, but I feel like I have learned all I can from these folks since covid. The first 300 episodes are still worth listening to though, so just avoid the newest 300 episodes if you aren’t into political entertainment podcasts.

Democrats
I really love your podcast but today when talking about Ezra Klein and Democrats assumptions are being made that if you’re a Democrat you’re secular. That is absolutely not true. There are a lot of Democrats that are Christian and are completely repulsed the way the Republicans have highjacked our faith. Also, you portray us educated, elite that is a blanket assumption that is also not true. Assumptions and blanket statements about either side are not helpful!

Need to sort out your stuff
Been listening to this show for a while and have found it to be a voice of reason in dark times. But recently the interactions have taken a negative turn. I wish Skye and Kaitlyn could figure out how to get along. I’d like to see Phil offer more substantive contributions. It has become sort of stagnant and deflated. I hate this because I’m a fan. Could you all come together and settle on the hope and unity in Christ? So much potential good.

This refreshing and Biblically sound Christian podcast really helps in this time of American despair. And I’m sorry Phil is sick, but it is so much easier to listen without his constant snark. And I love snark. Just, well, read the room.

Conflict Entrepreneur
Governor Cox's actual words...
"For 33 hours, I was praying that if this had to happen here that it wouldn't be one of us (a resident of Utah) --
that somebody drove from another state, somebody came from another country. Sadly, that prayer was not answered the way I hoped for."
Phil Vischer's hyperbolic and divisive sowing of potential seeds of offense by misrepresenting and misquoting Cox's words was glaring..."Yeah the only questionable thing was when he revealed that he was hoping it was an outsider who had done it, an immigrant or a Muslim."
That was not at all what Governor Cox said. Thank goodness, Mr. Jethani pushed back.
Who is the real Conflict Entrepreneur??
Honestly, is Mr. Vischer just in a constant state of hypervigilance and fight flight, heavy on the fight as a keyboard/microphone warrior because of all of the social media vitriol and personal stressors that he is involved in? Or is it a provocative schtick that's just not funny?
Why would Mr. Vischer say what he said and add provocative and offensive implications
specific to certain populations of people that Governor Cox did not say--doing exactly what Vischer was confronting by addressing the whole idea of conflict entrepreneurs??

Anti-conservative
Wish they could be more balanced, but instead they are just critical of MAGA. This feels like a MAGA-hating podcast. Th rhetoric is hard to listen to unless you join in on the problems with the right.
I do appreciate the interviews they do with authors & thought leaders that edify the body of Christ.

Better than I expected
I’m sorry to say that I approach Christian podcasts that deal with current events very trepidatiously. I’m neither left not right. An eagle cannot fly with only one wing.
My first episode is dealing with the horrible murder of Charlie Kirk… and I like how they balanced it.
No extreme left, no extreme right.
This is what I HOPED a Phil Vischer podcast would sound like.
edit: Ignore the people saying they were laughing about Dobson’s death. It was a very fair take, to the point of crediting him with the existence of Veggie Tales.

Hopelessly Biased
Been a weekly listener for 5 years. While their left bias was always there, I have watched them steadily build their platform out into a carefully curated echo chamber of increasingly progressive ideology pitched as a moderating voice. If you are left of center and in need of people who can call out your better angels while affirming all your preconceived assumptions about the political right, then this is the perfect podcast for you. If you are right of center, interested in engaging with voices outside your bubble, and looking for moderates who won’t misrepresent conservative views while advancing left political narratives, then mark and avoid this one. If you’re going to ingest that stuff you are better off doing it with people who are at least honest about what they’re doing.

Conviction + Compassion
I walk away from every episode challenged, encouraged, and often laughing out loud. It’s like a masterclass in how to hold faith with both conviction and compassion.
If you’re looking for a podcast that’s as funny as it is faithful, The Holy Post is for you.

Think about it…
You were dismissing Charlie Kirk as a martyr as if that was the craziest thing in the world. Have you thought about John the Baptist? John the Baptist was not killed because he said, behold, the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. John the Baptist was murdered because he was calling out sexual sin in King Herod. Charlie Kirk called out the sin of LBGTQ+ and transgenderism… He was actually talking about it when he took the bullet to the neck.

Know Better Do Better
I wanted to love this podcast, I tried to stay with this podcast. I agree with every principle they purport to support, but when anything comes up that is left of center or to the right of center the team is insanely biased against it. They presume anything independents, libertarians, conservatives, Republicans do or say is imposing Christian Nationalism, whatever that is, I don’t know what that is, or worse on the universe and Christians. This is ultimately a horrible podcast because it is ultimately reflexively polemic and not at all balanced or discerning. It makes me sad because there are good parts until the polemic kicks in.

Honest and challenging
There are a few podcasts that I listen to besides this one. Faith based podcasts that seek to express understanding and a deeper appreciation for not only the word of God, but also humanities response to His word. This podcast succeeds in an increasingly rare way to in gender, contemplative, thought and consideration of what it truly means to be a Christian. Above all, I appreciate how this podcast does not shy away from extremely difficult subjects or topics of the day. The tongue in cheek humor helps to keep the show inviting. I recommend this podcast to anyone who wants to learn or relearn how to think.

Biblical balance
I very much appreciate the discussion of complex issues surrounding Kirk’s assassination. Especially appreciate the perspective for how we apart from social media and in spite of it can be salt and light in our sphere of influence. Not easy and not the wide path but a narrow road for Jesus apprentices.

They’ve become what they used to criticize
I’ve listened off and on for the last 7 years. I love the chemistry that Skye and Phil have. They also aren’t afraid to discuss difficult topics, but they have evolved from being critical about certain segments of evangelicalism to being cynical about almost everything that is evangelical. They have less outrage over real sin and evil in the world than they do about all things MAGA. It’s become an echo chamber of griping and whining from a progressive evangelical perspective. I still may listen in the future, but not as much as I have.

Needs a Right-Leaning Voice
Update: I’m unsubscribed and don’t know if I’ll return anytime soon. They’re just as bad as the conservatives they loathe
I love the Holy Post. I’m a weekly listener. It provides a great foil to many other Christian political podcasts and voices. Also, it’s hilarious. As of late, I’ve grown tired of only really hearing about Christian Nationalism on this podcast. I get it, CN is bad. Trump is bad. But can you talk about something different for like a week? If CN and trump disappeared tomorrow, what would you talk about? Just like I stopped listening to The Briefing years ago because Mohler only ever talked about LGBT and abortion, I don’t want to hear the exact same thing from the HP post every week. CN is not a new phenomenon in church history. It won’t destroy the world or America. And if it does, why does that matter? Just try something else for a bit please 🙏🏻 This podcast would also massively benefit from either having someone co-host who doesn’t agree on everything the others hosts do, or from more frequent interviews of Christians with varying views. Often the show feels like an echo-chamber, which is sad:/ EDIT: was hoping that as more reviews like this one were coming in, they’d address this or maybe course correct or in the very least, bring on differing opinions, but still nothing. I was a weekly listener first time I reviewed the podcast but that is becoming less and less

Straw Men Galore
I am a principled conservative, and after listing for 12+ months, I have yet to hear my positions fairly represented. Holy Post uses straw mans, caricatures, ad hominem’s, and only interacts with the worst arguments from the weakest proponents. If you aren’t a Christian, please know that Christians are supposed to do their best to honestly represent everyone, even if we disagree. This show does not.

Dr Dobson
The mockery and sarcasm you all felt free to use around the death of Dr. Dobson was just so disgusting. I’m shocked that you think it’s ok to mock anyone’s death, let alone James Dobson’s on a supposedly Christian podcast. Although I do not agree with all of your philosophies and your take on Christian ideals, I have appreciated a different perspective over the few years. I’ve been listening. But after your treatment of Dr. Dobson right after his death, I will no longer be following you. I really think you ought to rethink how you treat people. He has family. He has tons of people who he has influenced and a ministry that has helped thousands if not millions of people. You do not have to agree with everything someone says, especially when you’re quoting them from many years ago. I am quite certain that if you quoted yourself from 40 years ago, you might be appalled at some of the things that you have said…or do you think your wisdom is on par with God’s? The arrogance and the mockery was absolutely uncalled for. There is a place for humor, but you grossly misused it.

Good, Could be better
Good discussions about relevant news and commentary on Evangelical culture. Great interviews. However, I find the banter about “fun” topics at the beginning unlistenable. I always hesitate to recommend the podcast or admit I listen to it because it’s so unlistenable at the beginning. Advice: skip the first 25 minutes and then enjoy.

Great podcast
The Holy Post is one podcast I almost never miss. For me the light banter between fellow Christians, is refreshing The podcast also helps me think through some of the issues that we’re facing in the church and our Christian faith and in our nation. The interview section is always informative and gives me something to think about and about a third of the time I read that book if there’s a book involved. The Post is an invaluable resource to me. I’m very thankful for it.

It’s gotten too serious!
I love The Holy Post podcast. I’m really listening from the first episode to all the way through and I love it so much. I just feel like it’s gotten way too serious and there’s not that funny, fun loving little tidbit in there that I always enjoy in the beginning episode.

Not The Vibe
The pick me, white knight energy from Phil and Skye has become unbearable.
Long time listener of the show who genuinely used to enjoy it. What started out as a lighthearted yet depth-filled place to explore my faith within today’s culture has morphed into something I no longer recognize, with every episode progressively feeling further away from what the show was intended to be. Everything about this show should appeal to me: I’m a millennial woman, a deep thinker, I love theology, I’m a current student of psychology.
But as I’ve continued to listen over the years, I’ve found myself more and more not so much disagreeing with what the hosts say but being repulsed by how they say it. It’s fascinating to watch Skye and Phil become the very thing they criticize.
They spend a lot of time taking specks out of other’s eyes while completely ignoring the logs in their own. They have positioned themselves as the arbiters of truth, seemingly never question their own biases, and drip with condescension and disdain for anyone who does not think exactly like them.
They seem more concerned with “owning” their ideological opponents than with offering love, understanding, or an invitation into a new way of thinking — or even perhaps examining whether they themselves are wrong (a big ask, I know).
It is sad to see how they have become catty and hypocritical, unempathetically calling out others for being unempathetic.
The two stars that have gradually moved down from 5 over the years are for Kaitlyn, who is currently the only voice of reason in a sea of bluster. The insecurity that both Skye and Phil display at Kaitlyn’s obvious superior intellect and articulative ability is palpable. I have no doubt her relevance will grow past them quickly. It already has.

An Unenlightend Lady
The Fashion Police of Modern Christianity (The Holier Than Thou Post)
Listen, I’ll always have a soft spot for Phil and his imaginative influence on Christian art, which is why I’ve been disappointed to see him sink to the level of adolescent keyboard warrior, daily engaging in petty Twitter fights. I’ve averagely enjoyed a couple of Skye’s books, even though they’re largely unremarkable rehashings of greater minds’ ideas.
But even though I often agree with their takes on a myriad of relevant and theological issues, I find myself growing weary of the petty sanctimoniousness, othering condescension, and haughty tone that weaves itself through most conversations of the countless episodes I’ve listened to. They (rightly) speak loudly about the importance of Christians having empathy and love for others, but in the same breath, they offer no love or understanding to those they disagree with. There is no humility in how they state their opinions (that I often agree with), no belief that they could be anything but objectively correct. And if you happen to disagree with their preconceived notions, you will be mocked in a high school, clique-like, mean-girl fashion. The disdain that colors their words and attitudes for those with whom they disagree seems anything but Christ-like.
It’s become the worst of an out-of-touch, high-horse echo chamber where, in the years I’ve listened, I’ve almost never seen them have on a guest with a differing viewpoint. Instead, they recycle the same handful of guests who only restate, uncritically, their own “enlightened” beliefs.
But worst of all, while loudly calling attention to and pointing fingers at the wrongdoings of others outside their hyper-judgmental tribe, they all but totally ignore the abuse, slip-ups, and sins of their own—like their former guest and friend (and editor of a major Christian magazine) who admitted to repeated sexual misconduct.
I had hoped this would be a place unlike the swath of tribalistic, rock-throwing podcasts that clog so much of the airwaves and allow me to think more deeply about important theological realities and their relation to modernity, but unfortunately, it seems this show has become nothing more than a gossip rag disguised as a moral guide.
