So disappointed
I cannot believe the platform Ezra provided Mahmoud Khalil to reinforce his propaganda. Ezra let him go on for so long with his skewed narrative without hardly challenging any of the biased propaganda he was spewing. I expected a more intelligent and unbiased interview. Such a disappointment.

Former favorite
Listening to this podcast used to be a thought provoking pleasure. Now just a grim auditory equivalent to doom scrolling. Seems like everything is terrible and nothing can ever be good in Ezra’s world.

Always makes me think
Excellent interviews. Ezra has empathy and warmth that puts his guests at ease. I always learn something

Appreciate the viewpoints
Appreciated the Hazony interview despite my disagreements with much of it. I liked that Ezra pushed him on some of his views. But listened to the Khalil interview and felt he went way too soft on him and didn’t push him enough at all. He’s not terribly educated and he’s very, very biased in his views on Israel but Ezra let it slide over and over again. Disappointing.

Unrepentant
You’d think having Mahmoud Khalil on signals some change from this “liberal” Zionist host. And you’d be forgiven to give him the benefit of the doubt of rehashing the same tropes about Palestinian resistance against apartheid and occupation under the guise of clarification during the early part of the interview. But in the end, what fired him up isn’t the decades long barbaric acts of the Zionist Entity, not the endless smears and lies in service of such acts, and definitely not nearly 20 months and ongoing genocide; it’s some slogans that call for equality and justice for all that might hurt some Zionists feelings!
Like Khalil eloquently responded, they’re meant to make them feel uncomfortable!
If you still fail to understand this in 2025 as an adult, you’re just a tool for Hasbara; and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Ezra Klein should leave the NYTimes for their blatant propaganda around the “war” (genocide) in Gaza
I have been listening to the Ezra Klein show for over a decade - it’s safe to say I love this man. The way that he is able to speak so fluently in the language of economics but also integrate a soulfulness and progressivism into that more technical awareness is unparalleled today in the media world. The humility that he approaches thorny issues and wrestles with the moral dimension of these issues whilst fearlessly confronting the reality that there are no easy answers. And yet, it seems clear to me that his relationship with the NYTimes is no longer tenable, given their refusal to report the reality of what is happening in Gaza as nothing other than a genocide. I worry that his continued association with NYT is significantly limiting his credibility with progressive audiences which frankly need his voice more than ever. Ezra, please go independent. I’m sure you can find a more suitable home for your podcast and writing. Thanks for your consideration

Yoram Hazony
I guess I’m glad you had this guy on, but sheesh, what a jerk.

Yoram hazony
It seems to me that Mr. Hazony is looking at a very narrow view of the United States. Over time the country has allowed immigrants to join the United States experiment. In fact Mr. Hazony is product of allowing immigrants to come to this country, live, study and thrive. It seems to me that he is very selective in his view of the US, its leaders Iand what makes it work or not work. I wonder if he as spent much time learning, working and living with any part of the immigrant community other than his own? He is very smart, but he does not allow for any other ideas but his own.
Keep up asking the difficult questions of the people you interview.

I’m glad you did this interview. I am interested in national conservatism, and I’m not a strongly ideological person. I was prepared to be won over, or at least to finally understand the appeal of nationalism. Instead, what I took from this is that Mr. Hazony is full of ****. He couldn’t answer the simplest questions. These guys think the Scots-Irish have more claim to America than Jews, Blacks, Hispanics, etc. The fact that their leading thinker can’t explain *why* is damning. I have always assumed these folks are exceptionally smart. Mr. Hazony instead came across as pathetic.

Great pod
Ezra is always a great listen, and I respect that he is willing to listen to other viewpoints. But, wow, this Hazony guy! That was a long time to entertain his blathering. Even with Ezra’s help, the guy struggled to make a coherent argument. ( or maybe I missed it, who knows)

Thank you
Thank you for your work
The USA has a problem with immigrants because the way your system makes so difficult for people who wants to come and work and help this country this country be better
I have experience in the process and the long lines in the USA embassy and the way they treat people with different looks
Tell your guest Yoram Hazony that he came to this country
How easy or difficult was it?
Thank you
And YES we have a big problem with the division of thoughts

Keep it up
Glad to see Ezra confronting right wing nuts face to face and exposing how empty their arguments are. Most democratic leaders are happy to state their opinion, but rarely sit across from one of these dense, blabbering idiots like Hazony, and tell them flat out that their argument makes no sense. While Hazony may have correctly observed that we are in a divisive time, he seems to completely misunderstand why. The core reason this frustration and intolerance has emerged on the left, is because the current right’s only agenda is to devalue other humans, seek to eliminate anyone they deem unworthy of being alive, and bully and name call anyone who isn’t blindly faithful to their extreme agenda. That’s why the left has reacted. No lib was talking about how republicans are evil in 2015. But civil discourse goes out the window in 2025 when republicans build their coalition based fundamentally on hate, othering, and taking away rights. Is it any shock that the left sees MAGA as an evil movement? It’s survival now, not a difference of opinion or approach to solving problems.

Proud to be a liberal
Your interview with Yoram Hazony was brave and exceptional. Empires with diversity such as Persian Empire soared because of their liberal ideas and their diversity
THANK HOU for being our voice. As liberals coming to US during a time where my own country was more liberal, we appreciate your defending democracy and diversity. California is the proof! Don’t let these conservatives drag this country to dark ages. Their anthem is hate and ours is love

Behind Trump and Vance…
Absolutely brilliant interview. Appreciate Hazony ‘s point of view despite it violating my core values as a liberal. Those that share his view will be disappointed to learn that nothing stays the same and the center always moves. Interesting to think why brown Christian (many catholic) are not considered the “center”. I guess mariachi music is too much. Anyway, would love to hear more of these type of interviews. Good choice and as always, excellent discussion, thx.

Guest Crashout
Ezra, love ya, always. Appreciate the intellectual dialogues you always bring us. And even appreciate you disrupting the confirmation bias, by bringing on opposing individuals... But Jesus Christ, this “theorist” and “philosopher”, Hazony is making me crashout in this car ride to the mountains.

Loved this episode
The podcast with Yoram Hazony was terrific! I find it so helpful to hear differing views espoused by very smart, thinking parties. This will cause all listeners to think & mull over the issues discussed. I thought it was fascinating!

Behind Trump and Vance
Engaging, probing, intentional about words and meaning and very, very good at interviewing. This episode in particular was a helpful exploration of what the current right is saying, and why they’re saying it. I find it very challenging to find anyone willing to move past banter, grandstanding or asserting false realities. While I disagree with the guests framework almost entirely, this interview helps ground the disagreement in substance.

Frustrating to be this mediocre in impact
Just listened to decarbonization episode. Good facts and analysis but how can I believe any of it. Every show, I mean every one attempts to turn conservatives into mustache twirling devils. I had to laugh when Ezra said he tries to be fair to conservatives (then went on a riff on how evil they were).
IMO, climate change is existential. And if 1/10th of what his experts say is true, I’d probably vote dem next time. But I’ve seen how each side makes things up, only selects supporting data or leaves out inconvenient facts. So the episode is wasted. True believers are already there and skeptics like me, know these are just advocates and will say anything to win (which doesn’t mean they’re wrong).
Be tougher and different Ezra. Bring on experts who disagree with you as well as your allies.
It’s just such a waste of a bright guy.

Please stop saying “underage women”
Love your show. And you are generally very thoughtful with precision of language. But please stop staying “underage women”. The “women” blunts the “underage”. You can call them “girls” “minors” or “children” if you are referring to a someone under 18. They are not women. That’s the whole point.

Klein’s conclusion on Epstein
I honestly don’t how someone as smart as Klein can come to the conclusion he did after exhaustively exploring the facts around this. QANON is for idiots. The story the government is selling on Epstein is for idiots. Why did it take Julie Brown for the story to come out? Why wasn’t the media on this story - it’s the greatest Pulitzer Prize bait story since the Teapot Dome except there is no question of entrapment, and in our new “attention economy” it is the nuclear bomb. When the media acts diametrically opposed to how it acts in 99.9% of other situations (excluding of course the humanization of Palestinians who apparently aren’t human to the media) it gives me the creepy feeling I had during the run up to the Iraq war: of robot talking-heads with dead eyes repeating prima facie ridiculous propaganda. Of course Epstein was an asset. Other than that I’m agnostic and Klein should be too. There is simply too much factual evidence, too many ridiculous, outlandish, impossible coincidences to come to the conclusion that Klein does. 1,000 victims. Isn’t that a conspiracy? People keep secrets for many reasons. No one but creepy Maxwell has been held accountable. And for Klein to imply that Dershowitz is actually innocent because of the “settlement” is just too much for me.

Thought provoking
Varied, in depth and most important thought provoking, Ezra Klein’s podcast offers up ways to think about complex issues that previously seemed intractable. He and his guests open up several paths for fresh analysis and action.

Meditation & Psychotherapy
This episode was esoteric and odd. I’ve meditated for years and it is straightforward. This guest’s philosophy using Freudian concepts, etc.—. ridiculously and unnecessarily complicated. Lost me halfway through. If I was not familiar with meditation, this guest sure wouldn’t succeed in gaining my interest to even pursue it.

Refreshing and thoughtful
I love the way he adapts his interview style with different guests. Really enjoyable and thoughtful discussions. Less echo chamber-y than most.

2025 Going Downhill
This show is going downhill. Typical liberal pretending they’re leftist. Praising Ross Douthat, a podcast on meditation…seriously??? The USA is on fire and this is where he wastes his time. Been following Ezra for years but like always, money changes people.

When are you going to report on the concentration camps?
People died and tortured in those camps, there’s no supervision or inspection. It’s environmental hazard. It’s severe humanitarian crisis. I cannot imagine there’s another bigger news than this, when are you going to report on it?

Vocal fry
Ezra is an interesting if unoriginal thinker, I often feel he is simply disseminating a certain consensus view. I would listen to this podcast if I could handle the vocal fry
He who shall remain nameless
Unconscious antisemitism
I listen to the podcast about Mamdani and old politics with Chris Hayes. Anti-Zionism becomes antisemitism when you only and/or disproportionally criticize Israel. All anti Zionism right now is Anti semitism. Mamdani has not criticized Hamas, Hezbollah, or the many despotic leaders in Africa, Asia, South America. Mamdani praises terrorist orgzs, which make him unfit for office.
When Klein and Hayes talk abt Mamdani, they sound like Maureen Dowd obsessing over how she wants to have a beer with George Bush. It’s naive.
Finally, it was extremely irresponsible for Hayes to say that he is not antisemitic because his wife is half Jewish. He sounds like Donald Trump saying he’s not a misogynist cause he has daughters!
The two host really need to dig deep and think about where are their opinions come from and what is responsible to say aloud.

states the obvious
I used to like the show but since the genocide in Gaza began it feels like Ezra has struggled to say anything interesting. He talks about Trump way too much with no added value. I feel this pod adds nothing to intellectual discourse... can't tell who it's for? I guess right-wing liberals? It's a terrible podcast. Why does he think "everyone is distracted by Trump?" He talked on and on about this "Trump just lives for the moment." The guest summarized Ezra's blather in 5 seconds flat. Ezra adds nothing and assumes so much.

I can not believe that neither of you addressed Cuomo’s sex scandal at all in the post-mortem NYC election podcast. There should have been much more analysis on sex scandals, AIPAC, and rank-choice voting. Most of the country is against sex offenders, against the two-party superpacs, and the ongoing genocide in Palestine. Ranked choice allows for more complexity outside of the two-party system. It’s not just social media fluency or viral popularity. I was also irked by the term “native” being used over and over instead of offering a definition of digital nativism and using the term fluency.

Feels like New York Times has more control than having Ezra’s ideas since they are outdated but still a good listen to see where the right is at.

BBB episode
Very typical NYT content: no real emotional investment by the participants, interested more about their theories than actual impact on human beings, blind to anything beyond the horizon of the issues of the news cycle, and always ALWAYS most interested in how the Democrats are responsible for what MAGA does.

Disappointed lately
While I enjoy the in depth wonkish discussions, sometimes I feel Ezra is out of touch. For example, saying that the Trump budget has not been a big item in the media - all I see is commentary about the awful budget that just passed. I also feel like there is so much intellectualizing around questions of say why “the left” lost the war on trans rights when there isn’t enough of a focus on the fact that trans people are absolutely demonized by the Right. Why is it “the left’s” fault that some people lack empathy and kindness??

Mamdani and the Anti White Racism Problem….
The Progressive Wing of the Democratic Party AKA The Far Left, Extreme Left, Identity Left, Woke Left, are in an Echo Chamber of Hate. They’ve become an Anti White Movement in a country that’s 60% White. How long before the backlash comes in the form of extreme violence?
It’s almost as if the Progressives don’t understand that they turned their allies into their enemies…..

Ezra Klein will learn nothing
While I appreciate the high quality producing, Ezra spent over an hour saying Zohran only won because social media and his policies will never work. He won because people want to have HOPE in those policies and that someone will FIGHT FOR THEM without BILLIONAIRES being in their pocket.
And the episode on trans rights- stop platforming white trans people that are clearly privileged. Maybe talk to a Black or brown trans person. Trans people deserve rights and it’s only a culture war because people are afraid of stepping out of the gender boxes that our society has deemed we should be in.
