Pregnancy and postpartum episode
Dr Mark, I really love your podcast and value the wealth of information that you share from interviews and from your own practice. I appreciate you taking time to support pregnant women by sharing your functional health advice.
But you really should be more careful with your language when you say the baby is a “parasite”. Do you know that this rhetoric/argument is used among many especially angry young women in the pro-abortion space -that the unborn baby is not a human life, it is a “parasite” and it is such an ugly and inhumane way of looking at fetal development. So while I understand the context in which you were using that word, you can see how that way of describing the unborn baby is misrepresenting the actual biological process of creating human life. Which is necessary to the survival of our species, by the way. I will continue to listen to your podcasts but I find the use of “parasite” in respect to pregnancy leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Review of PODCAST
I thoroughly enjoy Dr. Mark and his podcast. He brings on some of the best guests of any health related podcast I listen to. Functional medicine is making its way into mainstream circles thanks to people like Mark Hyman. He’s helping to pave the way for a healthier population with his podcast.

Some shows are great!
Others are overly wordy and understand just way too long to get through.
Either way, I appreciate the effort.

Mark is a flipflopper
Mark recently endorsed the increase use of glyphosate in U.S. crops by the Trummp Administration and Maha movement. Not only does he contradict his previous views. He’s endorsing a toxic chemical with known carcinogenic effects. I’m done with Mark Hyman.

This seemed promising but was basically an hour long advertisement for their wellness clinic with zero useful or substantial content.

Practical, helpful info that’s so easy to listen to and follow along
I just listened to the interview with Sir David Beckham and Dr. Dawn Mussallem, and it had so much good info! I love how Dr. Hyman paused each time a medical term was mentioned, and he put it in very clear terms for those of us who aren’t medical doctors. He made it all so easy to understand. The conversational flow among the three of them was so easy to follow along, and I feel more motivated now to make some changes I’ve been needing to make for better health and longevity. Really enjoyed this one!

Spineless
The Doctor’s Farmacy has turned into a masterclass in selective outrage.
Mark Hyman built a career warning about glyphosate, PFAS, mercury, endocrine disruptors, and regulatory capture. But when he hosts Robert F. Kennedy Jr. or guests orbiting the MAGA ecosystem, the spine vanishes.
Under Donald Trump, there have been repeated efforts to roll back environmental regulations, weaken EPA enforcement, and loosen pesticide oversight. If your whole brand is “toxins are destroying America,” that should be front and center. Instead? Hyman lobs softballs about “medical freedom” and “corrupt agencies” without forcing any reckoning over deregulatory policies that directly affect chemical exposure.
You can’t rail against glyphosate and then stay silent when politicians you platform support regulatory frameworks that favor industrial agriculture. You can’t warn about PFAS and mercury while avoiding discussion of environmental rollbacks because it might upset your audience.
It’s not that he interviews controversial figures. It’s that he refuses to cross-examine them.
The result isn’t bold truth-telling. It’s wellness populism wrapped in polite deference, attacking abstract “systems” while protecting specific political allies. For someone who brands himself as fighting chronic disease at its root, the unwillingness to confront power when it’s politically inconvenient looks less like courage and more like calculation.

Grifters are gonna grift
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by how easily people are manipulated with misinformation but here we are. His statements of “fact” are disproven time and time again by actual medical professionals but he continues to lie and his followers blindly believe him while he makes a cash grab.

Exceptional
This show (with Dr. Aseem Malhotra) is exceptional in its truthfulness and accuracy. I listen to this type of show frequently as it relates to current health issues and new medical and biological research, current day stuff, and this one is filled with details that I crave, actual numbers and answers. My doctor is guilty of “not knowing what he doesn’t know“ related to statin drug recommendations. Either that, or he’s not letting on that it’s an issue and continues to recommend statins for me in spite of my rejection in the past. I’m beginning to believe he should’ve been a bookkeeper not an internal medicine doc; he clearly loves the numbers.

Fake news
This guy loves hearing himself speak even when there’s a guest on. Not to mention all the unverified tests and supplements he pushes. He seems to fall into the same circles as Trump and Peter Attia if you get my drift.

very insensitive language
I was extremely disappointed to hear Dr.Hyman to refer to children conceived with ivf as “test tube babies.” That term is inaccurate, outdated, and reduces a human life to the way they were conceived. If you wouldn’t say that directly to a child, please don’t use it at all

Protein - Dr Lyon v Dr Villoldo
I’ve been following Dr Hyman for many years. I always enjoy and learn from the podcast and reading his books. I’ve also read Dr Lyon’s book Forever Strong and Dr Villoldo’s book Grow a New Body. This interview reminds me of one of the tensions in the longevity space. On the one hand, Dr Lyon articulates the need for more protein for muscle growth and longevity. On the other hand, Dr. Alberto Villoldo decries too much protein, and associates mTOR as a detractor to longevity.
Dr. Hyman has collaborated with both of these doctors. I’d love to hear an episode that attempts to square the “too much v too little protein” arguments.
I am grateful for the thoughtful presentation of these materials. Keep up the good great work, Dr Hyman and team!

MAHA and Robert Kennedy Jr
Referencing MAHA and idolizing RFK Jr diminishes Dr. Hyman’s credibility.

Laughs too loud blocking out his guests
Good info, but quit talking over guests. Listener, you’ll notice he duplicates and splices various episodes, so somewhat redundant.

Great information
I am so happy I found Dr Hyman. I have done the lab and seen some interesting results in what I have not ordered for my patients in the past. I am a NP and want more education in this area!

Great Suggestions and Best Doctor
I was following Dr Mark Hyman from more than 2 years. He is a great and amazing doctor. His suggestions are great. I have enrolled in function health. My initial reports alarmed about my health and they provided suggestions on foods to take and foods to avoid and supplements. My Vitamin D was 7. After one year now my vitamin D level is 30. So many improvements. My Heart health is very bad 2 years ago. I’m getting better and I should get even more better next year. I wanted my family members to start functional health as well.

Eye opening!
I have listened to your podcasts for quite a long time. I appreciate that you share your medical knowledge along with inviting guests to share their insights. My eyes are open to the realities of our healthcare system and its hangups and what functional medicine does to teach people to be and stay healthy so they don’t need to invest in “sick care.” Thank you!

So disappointed
Wild how someone can use science nefariously to actually push people away from science. First, do no harm, Doctor.

Great content, terrible editing
Okay team, I think you’ve reached enough success to invest in proper audio editing & producing. Many current episodes have sloppy cuts, unbalanced audio levels, and duplicative content. This is unprofessional. I can tell your team isn’t listening back to what’s published, which honestly is disrespectful to both your guests and listeners.

Love.Life Elitism
Out of Touch - Mackey is about as elitist as they come. The once rebellious hippy is now hocking a $40k-$50k a year membership while spouting off about loving all people. I listen to your pods religiously and am a Function Health member, but listening to Mackey was stomach churning. “Out of touch”doesn’t begin to describe his “Brave New World” leanings.

Interrupting your guests
Love your pioneering efforts and the work you have contributed. But your enlarged ego becomes apparent when you pontificate your agenda and do not allow your guests (Simon Hall) to finish his point, let alone his sentence.

The anti-vax episode was disappointing
Even though Dr. Mark and his guest both insisted they’re not “anti-vax”, they used all the anti-vax dog whistles: “we just need to understand it better”, “why aren’t there more studies”, “ever since we started vaccinating” (insert anecdotal observation here). Knowing that he generally goes for fact-based medicine, I was really hoping for some hard data here. Sadly, this episode was practically devoid of it, only offering up questions designed to promote vaccine hesitancy without offering up any kind of data-based analysis. Question the science with better science, not supposition. If you have a hypothesis, come up with a study and put it to the test. I’m sure RFK’s NIH would gladly fund it. Highly disappointing and really knocked him down a few notches in my eyes.

Utterly flabbergasted
Drones way too long
Dr Hyman is great and super informative, but his podcast drones on and on. It becomes mind numbing and makes me not care about the subject anymore. I can’t dedicate an hour or two to a single podcast.
I don’t listen anymore, but just speed read through the transcript.
Get to the point quickly and simplify your approach. Use the KISS principle.
His old podcast was much better.

Ownership
Dr. Mark Hyman’s Function Health is life changing. My husband and I did Function Health a year ago and it was not only a sense of ownership over your labs but it was also very empowering to see real time changes when you take the results seriously and implement the suggested options to see results. I just have one question that I hope you address soon in a podcast. You speak about the AI body scan and it detecting cancers, there is also the Galleri blood test can you explain the difference as they both seem to have the same results but one is more expensive than the other.

Great info, so hard to listen to
I really respect Dr. Hyman’s efforts to help people and bring us important health info. He is a poor interviewer, though, because he’s constantly interrupting his guests. He often derails an idea mid-sentence, and then it’s either lost or the interviewee has to try to re-route the conversation in order to finish making their point. It drives me nuts.

More listening
Hi! I absolutely love Dr. Hyman’s knowledge, thinking and guests. His one podcast saved my husband when he recommended a Heart Calcium Test! Had an undiagnosed Widow Maker. 99% blocked! But sometimes Dr. H speaks too much when interviewing his guests and doesn’t let them express their knowledge .

Disappointed!!
I used to appreciate and follow you, Dr. Hyman. I own your books and have followed so much of your advice over the years. And now, I cannot trust anything about you. Your alignment with RFK and MAHA and the cruel and insane Trump fascist regime is not only disgustingly disappointing, it is endangering American lives! How can you support a regime that is dismantling our government, is deeply corrupt, built
on conspiracy, and rooted in hate and white supremacy?? It is unconscionable. Your legacy and reputation are now stained and anything that you promote now feels suspect and untrustworthy.

Excellent and balanced information about vaccines
The 5/21/25 episode is a must-listen for parents who are trying to decide whether or not to vaccinate their kids.

Courage to look at difficult topics like vaccines
Thank you for the latest interview with the doctor on vaccine safety. As the mother of 4 children, who reads voraciously, and asks a lot of questions, I was lucky to have a pediatrician who listened to my concerns, did not shame me and was willing to work with us to wait on many of the vaccines or to spread them out and to take what we felt was necessary.
There has been a huge change in the last 20 years and now it is very difficult to have a conversation with our health care providers. It has made us not want to go to the doctors office with our children. Often we are treated with derision or shamed for asking questions.

Thank you for the Joel Warsh podcast!
This podcast finally addressed issues I have been thinking about the whole vaccine issue for many years. Was so nice to hear this intelligent discussion and hopefully these ideas will catch on…or more correctly, hopefully we will revert back to scientific consideration and evaluation of vaccines rather than the zombie arguments that have predominated over the last several years! Thanks again!!!

Improves My Life
Dr. Hyman, you consistently introduce us to experts with research and wisdom that can lead to improved health. Each week, you inspired us to live a healthy lifestyle. I’ve dropped sugar from my diet! And, now I’ve even reframed my concept of success so that I feel more positive about my journey. Thank you so much!

MAHA Nope
Why? Honesty and integrity lost in one mention of the word MAHA. Destroying our health agencies and clogging our government up with fanatics and unproven nonsensical malarkey. Guess promoting MAHA creates another golden opportunity to sell supplements. $$Cha Ching$$

I can no longer trust your podcast. You support a scary regime in the name of making people healthy? We are losing our agencies that keep our environment clean. This is not good for Americans.

Lost Credibility
I’ve listen to and followed Dr. Hyman for years. The fact he is onboard with MAHA while regulations on climate etc etc etc are being slashed which will also affect health in a huge way is infuriating. His stance on neurodivergence is also troubling. I am done with him unfortunately because I did appreciate a lot of content but I can’t in good conscience support anyone that supports MAHA.
Danielle84Mass
His support of MAHA makes me question everything
I've learned so many valuable things from his books and podcast but felt the need to remove all association. Put the books in the trash and will no longer listen. He is complicit in supporting a destructive movement for the health of our country that is not grounded in science. Disappointed to lose this health hero. It's not that I think that he lacks anything positive to contribute but it's something that I can never overlook.

He thinks ADHD can be “cured” by diet changes
I really wanted to give him a chance but after listening to his episode on ADHD he lost all credibility in my eyes. Referring to people with ADHD and autism as “not normal” and labeling them as “broken” is inaccurate and disrespectful to this diverse community. I’ll be turning elsewhere for my tips and tricks on staying healthy.

Great information
I learn something new every time I listen. Dr. Mark you are an inspiration. I never new about functional medicine until listening to you. As an avid runner and workout junkie I thought I was knowledgeable about nutrition. I have learned so much from listening to your show. I can’t imagine what the general public lacks in nutritional knowledge as I considered myself pretty knowledgeable. I tell everyone I can about you and your message to just, “ eat real food”. Thank you for fighting to help clean up our food in this country keep up the good fight.

Great info
I love listening to the show. I don’t believe in everything Mark has to say but I take portions of it to taylor it to my health lifestyle. I’m WFPB going on six years. Good info.
Excited to join the yearly health testing center. Tests my doctor would never do. Thanks Mark !!!
Do research.

Thank you for your informative podcast and equipping people to be proactive in their healthcare care decisions! Thank you for endorsing RFKJ and promoting health care, not sick care!
