The most recent episode with Matt Lieb was one of the greatest times I’ve ever had listening to a podcast. You three are perfection together. To sum it up in high school yearbook terms… Was so fun having you in first period. Don’t ever change!

I used to love this podcast because of the witty banter and great impressions. If I could ask them to go back to the way things were, please follow the format of 10 cent beer night! Best episode ever. Listened to it multiple times due to the way it was told.

Sometimes he’ll go on a rant about something and I wonder if he’s joking. The classism of the Simpsons? Drunk history and its tacit support of excessive drinking? Idk man. Some things just aren’t worth getting that worked up about. Gareth is outrageously soy. Holy moly.

I listen to these guys when I garden (and I garden all the time) my neighbors must think I’m crazy cuz I’m always busting out laughing randomly while I’m out there. They are hands down the funniest duo I’ve ever listened to. And I’m so glad they have good politics. Like for real good politics and not fake, grifter politics. My favorite is when Gareth does accents and when Dave laughs. I’m always smiling when listening to them. Genuinely great guys.

When twitter became a right wing cesspool, they sucked. When twitter was a left wing cesspool, it was A OK with you guys, right? And don’t forget to mention the government subsidies that Tesla is scooping up were invented purely by liberal democrats 👍🏼👍🏼

I’ve listened to almost every episode and I giggle during every one. History, accents and laughs…stupendous!! River of cheese is still running through my head 🤣

Anyone who doesn’t give this show five stars is just whining about the fact that Dave is a human being with eyes and ears and therefore ties ongoing events to historical ones.

Quickly went from my fav to intolerable with all the bickering politics and assuming everyone cares about where they stand on things. Your job was simply to be funny :(

This used to be an enjoyable escape. But these morons can’t help talking more and more about politics, not the politics from the old newspapers they’re supposed to be reading, but today’s politics. All the world is a stage, and anyone still following politics is an idiot. I can’t enjoy this anymore, because all of their misinformed political yammering is starting to outweigh any of the funny content that used to shine. If you want to hear from a couple of libtards giving their ignorant opinions over and over this is the show for you!

They turned into cry babies . America is the worst and white men are even worse. Capitalism is the devil, and they have so many breaks for ad reads?!?! Audio is the worst. Gary only does stereotypical voices that are great but never if they are any shade but white.

Been listening since the early days and through my 20s, this podcast was literally foundational in educating me and opening my eyes to the realities of the USA. I thank you, Dave and Gary, for shaping the person I am today in many ways (and easing the pain of it all with laughter). I refuse to give this pod less than 5 stars and I’d give it 10 if I could, but I DO wish for better audio quality. I expect the live shows to be difficult to listen to, but some of them are completely unlistenable sadly, and even some of the studio episodes suffer from quality issues. I listen anyways whenever I can actually hear what is happening, but I struggle sometimes to get others hooked because of the quality, and I want so badly to share the education I get from this pod with as many people as possible.

Either hire a sound engineer to equalize your sound levels or QUIT SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS. Unlistenable.

I recently watched you guys Bill Clinton series and it was awesome. Dave relayed the facts and stories well, and Gareth and James followed with top tier impersonations and comedy.

Love the show, been listening since it started and have been to a few live shows. As time goes on, Dave’s jokes simply sound like a man who is obsessed with anal sex and all riffs turn into Dave saying in a “creepy” voice something about butt sex. It’s funny for a few times, until you start thinking that this man is merely desperate for a kink he can’t have. Also, it used to be better when Dave Anthony picked and wrote the stories.

Humorous take on a wide range of topics from American history, some super obscure, which are off in the best stories. Some people complained about the political angle – if you don’t like it, don’t listen.

OMG! I’m so glad I found this show; such a stress reliever.

I love the promise of this show & love history. The stories are really amazing & the detail they find is impressive - the jokes are good but Gareth pushes them so far I find myself unable to listen. I have to skip forward minutes at a time multiple times an episode which makes listening kind of annoying bc I have to keep my phone at attention & cant just listen. It’s good but Gareth pushes too far & is annoying at least a few times per show

I'm glad the hosts enjoy their show. Not many laughs from actually hearing their jokes though.

I wish they released more than once a week! I’m not good at writing reviews. I mean what else is there to say other than I like the show. They heavy lean left especially Dave. That is mostly a good thing. Sometimes lean left passed the point of common sense but I understand why.

I’m a relatively new listener. One of the other podcast’s I listen to (The Smoking Tire) has mentioned it’s one of good favorite podcasts and I can totally see why. Absolutely hilarious. I look forward to it every week.

This kind of humor is dated.

Loooooong time listener. This podcast has a wonderful premise and Gareth is amazing at timely and insane interjections. I’ve learned and laughed a ton over the years. My only wish is they could dial back the “holier than thou” attitude. In their book so many things seem to be racist and wholly beneath them - but then they find it hilarious to do incredibly racist caricatures. But only of white people. And since they are white Americans: they can do moronic depictions of any other cultures white people (which are usually really funny). They just don’t seem to have found a solid flooring of who to kiss up to, and who to punch down at. Hint: it’s comedy. Stop taking everything so seriously. Or take everything seriously, and stop doing racist caricatures.

This is the podcast that I listen to during the night feedings with my newborn. Keeps me awake and entertained. 10/10.

It’s unbridled chaos. Have only listened to a few but wow. It’s life around the dinner table when I was a little. Ten kids & stories started, interrupted, new story interjecting, then somehow rewinds back. One of the brothers making a snarky joke & derailing it into fits of laughter. Thanks for the memories & making my old brain ping pong again.

This is by far and away my favorite podcast ever. Believe I started listening at episode 3 (comp endurance tickling?) when it came out and have been hooked ever since. The guests are all fantastic but Luke Simmons has to be a guest more often. Maybe even a spinoff? Idk, but episode 181 (?) of The Past Times with the gang in a van is one of the best things ever, partially because it’s a trainwreck (in the best way). Hearing Luke made me think about the Hope Diamond Curse episode (no idea the number) which made me relisten to it. Luke is just as good as Adomian, Oswalt, Kilgariff, and Anderson. His delivery is so very unusual and disarming. Love this show!!!!
