Disappointed 5:30 into Ep 1
BB highlights the lack of prep, and then the meandering wasn’t edited out? I’m out. Gave this a try because I like you both, but I doubt I’ll be back. Best wishes.

Anxious Energy and anxious chemistry
Not gonna lie - I love these two incredible “thought entrepreneurs” but this is the weirdest, most pretentious energy and chemistry between two people I have listened to in a long time. I am not really even sure what the podcast is about? It was truly anxiety inducing for me. It kinda feels like you guys need couples therapy. Y’all are operating on two different frequencies. And Adam, bro - quit finishing her sentences and mansplaining to her how she is feeling or what is driving it. Get curious. Ask. Quit pretending to know. I wanted this to be my new fave thing but for me it’s a swing and a miss. Seriously love you two tho. Together it’s just feels weird tho.

Finally!
When Brene did her Strong Ground episodes with Adam, I shared the insights with friends and remembered texting “I could listen to these two talk to each other for hours” and now I get to! Happy to follow along as each episode unfolds and really enjoying when they dig into something.

Saying so much but nothing at all
LMK when they stop stroking each others’ egos and actually offer up something of substance to the listener.

Repairing and rebuilding
Brene and Adam show an excellent example of how to have challenging conversations, embrace paradox, address conflicts, and how to work together through differences when the chemistry isn’t there, at least at first.

Is this really what we need right now?
The title of the show excited me tremendously. It felt like it might be a balm for the soul, a guidepost to help navigate these troubling times. While I appreciate the notion of bringing back the fireside chat format of Tolkein and CS Lewis, this podcast feels like it is a square peg in a round hole. Brene has a depth of experience that Adam simply can’t relate to, so the conversation lands like her being overly graceful and generous, trying to help Adam understand more about empathy, going deep, why feelings matter. I hope this show matures into something beyond their personal rumbles and intellectual musings, because right now it’s a little like listening to a reality TV show if the people were really smart. I can’t help but wonder if a third person acting as a moderator might smooth out the dynamic.

Pretentious
Listened all the way through each episode and all I can do is point to the title of my review.
Two people who make it clear that they have it all figured out. We are not worthy of their intelligence and overthinking of everything.

This is the weirdest reality show. I hate reality shows but I love this.
The addictive ingredient to reality shows is that they force slow moving and obvious collisions of people you can’t look away from. This show is also that, but it’s like the most skilled train conductor on the planet heading toward the most skilled tank driver on the planet attempting to handoff a single envelope that could save all of existence.
Yall are two of my 10 favorite people on earth. It never would have occurred to me that you’d have beef or such easily recognizable conflict areas, but it’s amazing to watch you navigate it. I bristle waiting for the shouting and y’all either edit it out or figure it out (you tell us).
This is what Big Bang Theory shoulda been — a heavy collision between two people who certainly woulda crashed and burned in their 20s, but now might figure out a way to be a power couple in their 50s (this is a metaphor, not a guess on age). Gosh darn it, I hope you crazy kids make it!

A balm for our times
A show like this is so needed right now. These two leaders don’t connect easily. Their understanding of one another doesn’t come naturally but they work to attune and strive for better understanding. It’s easy to stay in company with people who just agree with you. To stay in company with people who may not agree but want to understand is profound and offers hope in this time where people are so easily written off by another. Well done and thank you.

Sausage making
Excellent duo but this highly intellectual, meta analytical podcast is not for me. Episode 2 on pre-mortem had 10 minutes of content I can apply to my life. If they could agree to execute an agenda on an unrecorded call beforehand, a tightened up version would be magic. I will gladly come back to give it another try in a few months.

What is going on here?
Love these two, but I’m so confused on what this podcast is about. Is it about their relationship? Is that what they’re curious about? I need a better thesis for the show.

Incredible!
What a game changing conversation in the first episode and a breath of relief. To hear two people disagree in such an understanding and open way is inspiring. And I learned so much along the way! This podcast is just bound to get better and better.

I always learn from anything put out by either of you… and when you two team up, it’s pure magic. I can’t wait for more!

The marriage I didn’t know I needed
It’s funny how they talked about how someone said they would oddly make a great pairing because they’re so different but identical at the same time. Or at least an identical approach to solving things that come up in life. If you ever wanted a throuple, I wonder how Jefferson Fisher would work.

Hopeful that this will be (at some point) a slam dunk
There’s so much to love about the pairing of Brown and Grant, even without knowing the backstory of their relationship (which I had no idea about). The “nutritional density” of their first episode is great - lots of interesting nuggets to reflect on regarding shame, honor, guilt, commitment, duty, and agency.
That said, the fist episode also was a bit disjointed and I had a hard time staying engaged at some points. I love Brown’s work, but I don’t love when she is looking for a quote or article while continuing to talk - it feels a bit like the podcast equivalent of someone looking at their phone while in conversation with another person.
I also hope their dynamic continues to evolve. Lots of interruptions of Grant from Brown, who would often ask him a question that she then proceeded to answer herself or take in a different direction while Grant was still mid-sentence or thought. Maybe it’s just their personalities, but Grant was very accommodating of these interruptions and didn’t force the conversation back to his points, which I was interested in hearing. And maybe I’m over-reading, but in context how they both recall their backstory, it seems a bit to me like Brown still resents Grant’s past misjudgments and has him on thin ice, and that he is aware of this and therefore overly deferential to Brown.
All this may be totally off-base, but whatever the reason behind the dynamic, I hope the show becomes a bit more evenly distributed and less prone to distraction and interruption. That said, I do plan to keep listening because there’s no debate that these are two extremely wise and thoughtful people from whom all of us can learn a great deal.

Great duo
What a great podcast. It’s always so inspiring to listen to both of these hosts as they are both so incredibly intelligent and thoughtful and have an amazing way of communicatingideas and issues with ease to those of us who are not academics. And what I especially like is that they can disagree, sometimes heatedly, but have a civil discourse about their disagreement. So refreshing! Looking forward to more episodes.

I very much appreciate the how real both are being and that they are comfortable with it because they both grow as a result. I’m excited for what comes next.

So brilliantly unconventional
I love the real life tension, to see how brilliant minds work through years of research, experiences, and how to arrive an apologies and accountability. It is a privilege to hear this! Thank you

Incredibly charming and valuable
Listening to Brené Brown and Adam Grant feels like listening to your two favorite professors out at a bar on the last night of the semester.

Excellent!!!
Brene and Adam - to the great teachers I've had the privilege to learn from—I'm grateful beyond words. I’m constantly reminded how much there is to learn through these conversations. Thank you for your wisdom, your guidance, and the generosity with which you share both.

Losing Her Religion?
I don’t know what else to say except that the episode on Paradox was nothing but navel gazing at its worst. To hear Brown complain about Discipline and Freedom about having to schedule her Pickleball games and hair appointments was just mind numbing. Be a functional adult! Quit making mountains out of nothing burgers and grow up. It didn’t help that Adam Grant tried to act as if Brown were having an existential crisis. Good Lord, the rest of us show up for life and live it…why does Brown talk about needing a coach for something most adults do every day? I like her but this episode was just so inept and dull and made Brown highly unrelateable.

Mic Drop BREŃE
Last week I listened to Liz Gilbert’s new Book knowing that my next book once dropped would be Brené’s Strong Ground. To my amazement these books go so well together. Liz gives you the real life consequences to not understanding leadership as explained by Breńe. These podcasts add a layer of to the book. Thank you thank you thank you. Love it!

Insightful, candid, informative
Brene Brown always delivers, in this podcast and her Unlocking Us podcast as well. She chooses great guests, does her homework, prepares, and informs. She’s not afraid to share from her own experience either. I think she’s the perfect mix of research nerd (meant as a total compliment!), storyteller, interviewer, and deeply thoughtful, sensitive person navigating the topics she brings to her podcast and the world. Highly recommend.

Not sure how is this rated as “Clean”. The host and (T least one) guests use the S and F words.
