I honestly don’t get why everyone hails Bill Simmons as some great sports mind. He does so many podcasts and is always talking/writing to the point he doesn’t seem to have the time to get really informed. He falls to recency bias a lot and his takes are often just bad. If a friend in your basement holding a beer said some of the same things Bill does you’d just assume he doesn’t understand the sport that well.

I am, and will continue to be, a loyal listener. I get the podcast features adult language. In general, that doesn’t offend me. I understand. The Ringer wants to find the balance between deep analysis with a “sports-bar-conversation” vine. That said, is House just incapable of articulating a passionate thought without including “G— D—“ in there at some point? It’s multiple times an appearance, always at the top of his lungs. It’s annoying, and I mean this in a supportive-ish way: it makes House way, way dumber than he actually is.

Doc Rivers is the worst guest. Can’t hear anything he says and it is not entertaining. It sucks he left the Bucks and now we have to be subjected to him. No more Doc!

Still not a word on the Vrabel/Russini situation. Seems as though it’s deliberate at this point. Great reporting Bill!

Bill is obviously the sports podcasting GOAT and the Ringer as a whole is simply the best. However, there’s just too much gambling forced into everything discussion! I think that fans are used to, and expect, the Celtics to be shoehorned into every segment regardless of whether they’re talking about the NBA or not (it’s kind of endearing in a way), but man I just wish there was less gambling talk. Even so, I will continue to listen. There’s simply no one else who has the pull Bill does for sports guests (and others!) on the program. Half-baked ideas with Kevin Wildes is always a hit for me.

Please stop having these boring former-or-current espn people on. I know bill is unique, and his kind do not grow on trees, but he’s found plenty of other unique people and I don’t think the ringer or the listeners should have to settle for these espn-speak-type people. If I wanted to listen to people talk and talk and talk and say absolutely nothing, I’d watch espn shows. This would include Zach Lowe, btw. Losing Russillo was a shame. (I know that both Bill and Russillo are former espn guys, but when I say espn-speak, everyone here knows exactly what I mean.)

From the man who coined the phrase, March 11th for me is officially the podcast that has caused me to smash the unfollow button for this podcast. I loved his writing, liked his podcast but all good things must come to an end. Sal and NFL over unders, the academy awards and Tom Brady on the night Bam goes for 83 and it’s all anyone is talking about. To be fair when this became a straight gambling pod it was already over but this is the end for me. Thanks for the memories sports guy. Adios.

How Pina keeps getting spots on the BS pod but Joel Anderson hasn’t is beyond me. Michael just no-selling college basketball and gambling tells you everything you need to know, and I’m neither a gambler or a big college fan. It’s not his medium at all. Also, if you’re an “I can’t watch college basketball” guy, you better be a real baller—otherwise, it’s embarrassing. Something tells me he can’t dribble with his left hand.

I’m a hoops fan but not a football fan. Nonetheless, Ienjoy listening to your podcast but I tend to skip the NFL episodes or the ones that are mixed NBA with NFL and sometimes i feel like im missing out. Is there any chance you can just have NBA and NFL episodes separately and not have then mixed in one episode? I would love that. Im sure NFL fans that are not hoops fans would love it too.

I wouldn’t listen to this podcast if Bill Simmons wasn’t a well known Boston sports fans. I like the occasional humor and pop culture references. However, episodes are way too long. Simmons’s guests are a mixed bag. For example, Cousin Sal is insufferable to listen to.

I am watching the video version on Netflix right now, husband’s pick. Please do not let your cohost eat during the podcast. Hearing him eat and lick his lips was disgusting. Also, Bill and cohost staring straight at you via camera during the podcast was uncomfortable. Other podcasts have the speaker and cohosts and guests angled and it makes for a much more pleasant viewing experience.

Also just one episode focus on hockey a year would be cool. This is the best podcast out there. No debate.

This is the first, best and greatest sports pod. But please, please, please never waste my time with Chris Russo again. I’m an educated person.

My favorite, I need this podcast like I need water and oxygen.

Bill, you HAVE to find a way to make Mad Dog a recurring guest or have him on more regularly. You two have real chemistry, and listening to you both talk about sports history and relating it to modern day sports is fantastic.

Another NFL season almost over. I’ve been listening to Guess The Lines for several years now and, without question, it’s one of things I most look forward to and will miss when it’s done. To 2026-2027, may we all be here for it!

But remember yesterday when you were talking to Shrages and House and you said you didn’t trust the Seahawks offense? Listen, you weren’t wrong at tge time. I agreed. Out loud. But DAMN. They showed us tonight.

In response to latest NBA pod with Kon on, you say Siakam is an average player. That is one of the most casual statements I have ever heard. Has won a title, helped carry the Pacers to game 7 of the NBA finals last year, was an All Star last season and was clearly a top 25 player in the NBA. Has even better stats this season for yes a bottom team that has battled horrible injury luck the entire season and has played way more 10-day contracts guys that any other team. So explain how this man is an Average player.

Bill is fun, House is the best, it’s mostly a sports gambling pod that isn’t concerned with the social consequences or context of any topic. If you don’t gamble there’s not as much there for you as other places.
