Please make Mission Accomplished MIA
I love TBP, but after listening to two episodes of Mission Accomplished I’m begging the folks at the Ringer to either give it its own feed or just scrap it altogether. As someone who detests a lot of what’s happening in the world right now, I get it. I really do. But the irony is that politics becoming a source of entertainment is precisely why we’re here - with a reality tv show host running the country. Please let me have my entertainment podcast back. I need a friggin break.

Extremely good
Love it, really hope this pod keeps going! I’m always excited for the next episode.

Good mainstream movie podcast
My favorite part of the podcast is when Brian Rafferty goes his documentary series.
This podcast can be a bit generic at times but Sean and Amanda are both real cinephiles.
My one complaint is that I dont understand why Chris Ryan is their correspondent for horror stuff bc his response to “Skinamarink” shows he doesn’t know anything about horror.

Mission accomplished Mission Accomplished!
Long time Big Picture fan, but wanted to make a shout out to guest host Brian Raftery and the Mission Accomplished series. As a millennial, I’ve found the series to be a thought-provoking examination of the 2000s as portrayed through film. Brian is also a great host! Would love to hear him on the Rewatchables! I’ve been recommending the series to all of my movie loving friends. Gonna go watch Bring it On now

Miss Sean and Amanda
Can’t wait for the big pic to come back, mission accomplished is one of the most boring things I’ve ever heard. Only Brian Raftery could take the fun out of Bring it on and Anchorman.
Judgey Eyes
Weapons
Loved this movie!!!! I didn’t agree with all your comparisons but I thought the Ruth Gordon vibe appropriate!
Not sure if you know this film but both Barbarian and Weapons are similar in structure to ‘Mystery Train’. Have you guys ever discussed Jarmusch?
Good job with the director!

Sean and Amanda did the thing I didn’t think was possible anymore — they made me a fan who listens to every episode! I literally wait to see what their release plan is for the month by going to their IG on the first of the month…and then book my movies for that month. It’s such a wonderful glue to my life. Thanks, ya’ll.

Love the pod!
Sean and Amanda are such great hangs- intelligent, funny, passionate- keep up the great work!
Mattman Returns
It’s getting worse
Pretty sure if Amanda published a list of all the movies she’s ever seen, she wouldn’t be allowed to host a film podcast. Such a blatant lack of knowledge; it’s like Sean is talking to a brick wall.
Anything with Chris Ryan or Adam Nayman is great. I enjoy limited Oscar talk but they basically just repeat themselves for six months and discuss Twitter trends. I’m mainly confused why they put Amanda Dobbins in this role... why not get someone who’s been watching movies for more than two years?
Nothing more grating than non-funny people getting the confidence to make jokes. I think the pod is deteriorating, it’s getting more self-satisfied (“we’re so crazy we’re screaming about this movie!”). They’re also afraid to take stances on movies, whether it’s because Sean doesn’t want to upset the directors he interviews, or because they aren’t confident enough in their knowledge to form opinions before the general consensus materializes. The Ringer will continue to make middling boilerplate content until they hires staffers who have can exhibit recognizable, valuable identities.

Monolingual nightmare
Yet another podcast that thinks films are only made in America 🙄

BOYCOTT THE 92Y
Hosting the live show there, 2 years into a genocide, when the 92Y has remained on every major boycott list for its cancellation of Palestinian voices and hosting of Zionist ones is super disappointing! There are many other venues in NYC!!!

Feels like Sean was reaching with the Weapons pod…pandering much??

Personality differences
Good discussions, these two know what they’re talking about. Unfortunately, Amanda comes off a little too snobby for my taste; Sean is better. Maybe it’s just me but I’m just not having fun with this one.

See you at the movies
My favorite movie pod!

Chris is missed
At this point are we all just putting up with Dobbins and her inability to sound less grating? Seriously, the film festival elitism and her vague condescension is eye-rolling, even while driving.

Best movie podcast in the world!!
Sean and Amanda are amazing and feel like my friends at this point. I never miss an episode and love all the guests. Chris Ryan deserves the third chair, but you should bring producer Craig back on periodically as well!

It is great show I love listening to it
Amazing

Good but THANK GOD for the search option so you can skip ahead.
These guys will bait and switch you and talk about nonsense for 40 mins before discussing what the title of the episode is about. Weak.

Great Variety
Not sure what’s up with all of the poor reviews saying Sean and Amanda hate blockbusters; if you’ve been listening to them for any amount of time, you know that simply isn’t true, they just want them to be good. If you’re looking for a movie pod that covers a variety of types of films as well as awards season and industry talk, this is the one.
jibucko
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I gave this a shot. They both know a lot about the industry, which is cool, but they’re both pretty pretentious and the episodes are in dire need of editing.
theadmiral09
If it’s popular, she hates it
Cool kids only please. Chances are that if you like a movie, she hates it and he is embarrassed for liking it. Super interesting podcast if you’re into long discussions about film festival scheduling.

Pretentious
So tired of people like you all acting like the only good movies are awards contenders. Its ok to have fun at the movies and enjoy Marvel/ super heros. Snobs

Solid discussion
I enjoy the show and the discussion between hosts even when I don’t completely agree with their opinions— hate towards Marvel and superhero movies and blockbuster movies in general. They’re great at communicating reasons, and the interviews with filmmakers is also always pretty strong.

Love the show but…
Love the show but lately it’s feeling a little bit lazy. Felt like there was nothing of substance said in the entire Fantastic Four episode. I like when they reviewed without spoilers and understand that it’s hard, but this last episode I was waiting for them to start reviewing the movie and then realized it was over after some banter. I also don’t think Amanda should do the Marvel episodes she’s good on other topics

Pompous And Annoying
The drafts are a fun idea but Sean and Amanda are insufferable.

25 for 25 and FF
A great movie news podcast with fun episodes and guests had lately become stale with its takes and unoriginal in its programming. You guys should avoid going hard with your dislikes. You often say you’re not critics, so why would you spend an hour trashing a fun, family film (FF)? And the 25 for 25 is the biggest mistake the show has ever made. It’s like a clip show of your stale takes on movies like mission impossible fallout. There are so many podcasts that do these films better service that where you went to dinner before seeing the is one, or who you were with which is why you loved that one so much. The list is so cringeworthy that I’ve just started removing downloads and marking as played, and with hate toward the MCU, love to 28 years later, etc., I am starting to do that more and more for the first time in years. Maybe do less pods? Sorry for the tough feedback. Unspooled is having similar issues.

Stop making statements into questions
Almost every sentence the main guy utters goes up at the end like it’s a question. He has a good voice, but he needs to stop it. It annoys me to the point I’ve stopped listening to the pod.

Okay Pod/Just not for me
Tried listening to podcast for movie reviews of films I may want to watch. I will give the crew credit in that the reviews are extremely in depth. They are so in depth that they are overkill. Amanda is a really tough listen and they come off just a bit pompous and high brow for my taste.
DrewK19
Stay mad, Dobbins haters!
Sean and Amanda are perfect combo. Petition for a weekly ep called “the third chair” where CR just gets off his latest movie takes.

End the auction
I enjoy some episodes, but good god is the auction draft awful listening. Just talk about upcoming releases or I guess draft them if you really need some gimmick or crutch, but I can’t fathom caring less about whether Sean is going to “get” some movie for an imaginary $61 or Amanda will for $62 - meaningless, dull podcasting, did not finish the episode.
DJ20004
Amanda talks way too much
Just blabs on and on without much value. She interrupts and cuts people off. Yeesh. I want to hear what others have to say but have to make it through her empty content.

For the billionth time…
Do you enjoy movies are know how to talk about them in a way that isn’t like Seth Rogen’s character from the Studio? Both of you? Any of you?
Jr1372
Meh
Not great- basically sucking the marrow of joy out of every movie they review. Sean and Amanda have a very strong knowledge of what they believe. A good movie is, how movies are made, and the industry in general. My frustration is in their highbrow take on things, if it’s not art house it’s not worth watching in their opinion. Her voice is the epitome of a former sorority sister who is slightly buzzed with aggressive vocal fry. they talk about their kids, inside jokes and “stuff” that have nothing to do with movies. I’m not listening anymore, I just wanted to leave an opinion because as someone who 100% supports the theater experience and spends hundreds of dollars a year in the theater, I wanted to have a more well-rounded diverse open-mindedness in their selections and opinions. I was really disappointed.

Her Voice
Amanda Dobbins has an excellent voice for print-only.
Red Beard Steve
Superman (James Gunn)
I just listened to the movie review pod and I’ll say I never heard such a movie breakdown podcast before with spoilers mind you. I need to re-listen to it because there’s a lot of info being bantered about. Let me say toward the end of the pod they go over various iteration of Superman movies in the series I would like to see a podcast uploaded after both hosts watch Superman and Lois the TV series which I believe is the best Superman interpretation since Christopher Reeve. I’m about to download a podcast about the future of James Bond so far I’m liking what I’m hearing.

Not my thing …
A yapping guy droning on and a ‘ya whatever’ woman chiming in with a story to make it clear she’s above it all. Detailed discussion of movies from the cineplex - can’t stand it. For others it might be perfect, I suppose.

Great podcast
The knowledge that the hosts have about movies and movie making is just amazing. The reviews of movies are really in depth and interesting without spoiling the movie.

Amanda must go
This podcast features Amanda Dobbins, who’s a real life Cathy cartoon. She’s proudly ignorant and seems to hate movies and people. She’s thin skinned and lashes out at everything like a petulant child. What other job in the world could you be as ignorant, unprepared, and lazy as she is continue to keep your job? Anyone who refers to movies as “boy movies” & “girl movies” or themselves in the third person in 2025 is just plainly an idiot not worth your time. Replace Amanda with literally anyone else! PS-no one is here to listen about your kid. Not one person.
Those months without Amanda making everything about her narrow tastes and apathy towards movies was a glorious time for the pod. It blossomed without her and her atrocious vibes.
Check the game tape. Your listeners hate Amanda!! She’s unfunny, fairly dumb, & has the worst taste in everything. She needs to shut up and go away forever.

Down with corporations Amanda?
Amanda’s comment during the Jurassic World review regarding being “down” with an anticorporate message is rich given she’s saying this on a SPOTIFY podcast, sponsored by STARBUCKS. To quote Logan Roy, you are not serious people.

Comprehensive but pretentious
Finally had to unfollow despite this being the most reliable movie podcast in terms of always covering whatever comes out. The problem with this podcast is they lose sight of what movies are meant to be: entertainment. I got tired of listening to Sean dump on fun movies because they weren’t technical enough and then glaze boring movies because of some filming technique or something. This show is essentially two regular people who are desperate to be film critics and think the only opinion that matters is their own.

Amanda is insufferable
Really enjoyable aside from one of the hosts—Amanda. She’s incredibly condescending and obnoxious. Can’t read a room, not even slightly funny or amusing. That said, the pod is great with guests/when she isn’t on.

Dobbins
She has two kids. Knox and Huckleberry. Let her speak on being a mother.

Wish I could give it a 0/5
Honestly this podcast is halfway hosted by someone who is completely out of touch and should never speak into a microphone again. This podcast has become painfully unlistenable. Amanda is terrible and anyone who argues otherwise and blames negative feedback on sexism are completely ignorant to the facts. There are plenty other amazing women at the ringer who do awesome work. These two already have so many deep biases that they don’t even need to watch the movies, they can do a whole episode on them based on prior opinion. It’s so goofy to excuse flaws by saying this is simply a conversation show when they have legitimate influence, its like Joe Rogan but for movies.

The Tom Cruise obsession has to stop
His “savior of movies” personae was his re brand from insane cult member / abuser / enslaver of Sea Org members. It’s cool I like MI he’s fine but he’s not a great actor and he’s also a TERRIBLE PERSON. Every performance and feat is enabled by invisible Scientology slaves. Look it up and talk about it!
