I listen to this daily and absolutely love it. I came back to mass because of Father Mike. Thank you so much Father Mike and Jeff Cavins!

I November 28 I drove to San Diego my daughter was put in the hospital with Covid pneumonia now February 4 my salvation has been to listen to this podcast thank you so much for making my life a little more bearable Melisa has gotten better and going to rehab but the last 67 days were a nightmare.I’ve learned so much and understand so much more and now just a few years later, my daughter got put in the hospital again with pneumonia I had walking pneumonia when I was able to go. I got to spend one afternoon before they shut off the machines she has now passed Bible in a year has kept me focused and helped me through my grieving. Thank you so much, Mike.

Not a Catholic, but truly enjoy this

From the very beginning of this journey, I have been following along daily with the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible. I am blessed to have 2 commentaries daily. The first from my study Bible and the second from Father Mike. Through the lens of love, I am able to clearly see how much God loves me. Even in my brokenness. Today is day 79 and without fail, I have found my own ignorance, sin and failures written right there in front of me. I am the murmuring Israelite, the harlot, the sinner. And God still loves me! As I read along through difficult and sometimes violent portions of Numbers and Deuteronomy, it is clear to me that God loves us. And as I spend more time with the Lord through his scriptures, I am beginning to be less and less ignorant to the Love story he wrote for me and for all of us. The love of a father knows no bounds.

For Catholics and Protestants alike! This is the best 20-30 minutes a day (or every other day, or whatever works for you) you could possibly spend. Merely making God’s word a regular part of my life has its own subtle effects, but the lessons within have truly been life-changing for me. Father Mike’s commentary is always spot-on and enlightening, too. 💯

The very start of my day, began s with Bible in a day. Each time I hear a session, my heart hears something new. This is such a blessing, for anyone who listens to Father Schmitz.

So you’re an expert on a work of fiction. Yay!

This pod really encouraged my faith even more than I really wanted to…but I’d beg to my dad to “practice faith more!” When I’d act like a demon. When I listen I feel so good and cleansed! Praise the Lord! Have a blessed day!

Thank you Father Mike for this beautiful podcast. I have a 45 minute commute to work and was looking for a Bible in a year podcast. I am a protestant Christian but have Catholic friends. I am so thankful to have found this podcast. The way you explain the bible has changed my view of the OT and its importance for followers of Jesus. At age 57, with years of reading the bible and attending worship, there is still so much to be learned. May God bless you and your listeners.

I suspect it’s Mike’s raw emotional connection to the bible that elevates this from being companion storytelling to a real spiritual landing pad for a Christian newbie like me. Highly recommend it.

I’m humbled to have been born into the Catholic Church, a family. The riches available to me make me feel wealthy! I’m on Day 66 and again, feel like I hit a gold mind. All the work has been done for me… the Bible has been divided into manageable parts, Fr. Mike is so kind and competent as narrator and spiritual guide, & Jeff Cavins provides expert background. This podcast is a true blessing. Thanks to Gather Mike’s excellent commentary and Jeff Cavins Great Adventure Bible Timeline I have finally read the entire Holy Bible twice using this podcast and once with a different yearly Catholic Bible reading plan, and that plan had no commentary, no timeline to guide me through it. Needless to say I will be using this podcast for my fourth journey through the Holy Bible. God bless Father Mike, Jeff Cavins, the whole team at Ascension Press for this podcast.

I love this podcast

I’ve been listening to Fr. Mike and Jeff Cavins since the inception of The Bible in a Year and enjoy all of their podcast shows. I am not Catholic, yet I still gain so much knowledge, wisdom, and spiritual growth from these podcasts. My only critique is that I wish the “Start Here: Introduction to the Early World” episodes were refreshed each year. The current “Start Here” series is from 2021. As much as I love listening and re‑listening, it would feel more personal to begin each new year with updated introductory episodes. Thank you for all you do, and may God continue to bless you as you bless others. 😊

It is a joy to hear Father Mike take us on the Lords journey that is saturated with clear explanations of its meaning allowing me an additional way to connect to God. Thank you Father Mike!

Whether you’re religious or not, the Bible is the most printed and read book that has ever existed. Here’s your chance to read it in a spoonful manner over a year. I think it’s a great way to understand a book that has changed the world.

This is the fourth time and every time I learn something new. This year I started focusing on taking notes and trying to follow the early books of the Old Testament.

The prayerful reading of the vestments was a stumbling block for me. I read it over and over. And listened to it, a few times, and it was the first reading that sounded so holy. Maybe because I like clothing.

Thank you so much Father Mike for creating this! I absolutely adore listening to the Bible with you! You explain everything in the text so well. It’s a wonderful way to read the Bible!

It’s so beautiful

Great podcast, but I just stopped listening to it, I guess I got busy, but I will start back up, at the moment I think I should make time for it instead of ignoring it

I’ve read the Bible but have not really read it, in its entirety. At the my age, which is over 40 I am not ashamed, nor I’m I upset with myself; I am just glad I found this podcast. Many times, misunderstanding would discourage me from reading. Reading the Bible is simply not enough. There are several Bible in a Year Podcasts, but there’s not one that I’ve tried that has blessed me, like this one. The way that Father Mike Schmitz explains the scripture, is so wonderfully needed. You not only read, but you also explain. You’re a teacher!You’re also honest. You explain how certain things may not be good. You said, “Just because it’s in the Bible, doesn’t mean that it’s right.” I love this…. I’ve always struggled with understanding certain things, that I’ve read and struggled with the pronunciation of names, this podcast has not only helped me spiritually, but has build my confidence as I listen, and read along. My late pastor, used to say “Don’t take it from me, go and read it for yourself.” With the support of this podcast, I am doing just that. God bless you & all the listeners.

I’m a nine year old kid in fourth grade me and my friends are growing closer to god but also you talk really fast or maybe it’s me but…I STILL LOVE THIS SHOW

Best way to get into a routine of hearing the word every day.

As a 15 year old girl I love this podcast I really hope it encourages me to keep growing in my faith as a catholic and keep a strong relationship with God.

This is my first year at bible in a year and it’s only been one moth of listening to it! It’s become part of my morning routine and I love it so much!!!

I cannot go through my day without the Bible in a year. This pod cast is food for my spiritual life and existence.

I have gone to several Bible studies and always felt that I was not educated enough and so I never participated in the discussions. And eventually dropped out. This approach makes me feel very comfortable and involved and not like I’m spending hours trying to figure out what’s being said or implied. The lesson after the readings is short and to the point. The episodes are usually less than 30 minutes and have become a half hour that I really enjoy to start my day. I’m almost finished with The Bible in a Year and will start something else to grow my faith, as this has been so fulfilling.

This podcast has played a huge part in changing my life! I now commune with my creator, my Lord and Savior and life will never be the same! I now love the Bible. It’s like I was listening to it on a phone speaker, and now I have the best stereo headphones money can buy! Thank you Father Mike for being here everyday for us with God’s word. The way that all the Bible speaks and explains things and includes himself with us as his great and really helps us to hear the Holy Spirit and to break it down to your powerful . this is my fourth time around always finding something new

I’m starting my second year of listening to this podcast, and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Hearing the word of God from Father Mike has changed my life my life from the inside out. It’s really saved me. And now my sister is starting to listen to the podcast!

I can’t begin to explain the effect this podcast had on my life. As a newly convert who pretty much didn’t know anything about the Bible fr Mike’s reflections, explanations and beautiful personality made going through the entire Bible an easy, enjoyable and incredibly inspiring experience, it completely changed my life. I cannot thank everyone involved enough and I cannot wait to start again.

I’ve been following along and love the set up/plan of readings. Your voice is clear and this edition is easy to understand. One thing that I have an issue with is how you keep bringing up our “brothers and sisters” the Jews. I don’t have an issue with them being our brothers and sisters but I find it interesting you never mention our other brothers and sisters the Muslims. We are all under Abraham’s God.

I came across this Bible in a year roughly 4 1/2 years ago and have been following ever since. I am a pastor at a Protestant church and frankly this is the best Bible in a year program I have found. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I was a lukewarm Catholic my entire life and thought I had a decent understanding of my faith, yet I never went to church nor had a firm grasp of the faith in which I was raised. This podcast was instrumental in bringing me back home, and I’ll forever be grateful to Fr Mike and his commentary for helping me understand what I had been missing out on for my entire life. I started listening to this podcast a few months ago and have found it to be a wonderful way to incorporate daily Bible reading into my life. I typically listen on my commute or during my daily walk.
