Interesting and enlightening
I stumbled upon this podcast when searching for podcasts with Bastille after finishing Muses, and listened to the episode with Dan Smith talking about Gimmie the Future. I enjoyed it so much I started going through the archives for other artists I recognized like Orla Gartland, Fizz, Everything Everything… now I’m wishing every artist did this podcast for every album. Learning about the process and how different sounds I love came to be is such an antidote to the destructive nature of the news and listening to this podcast has probably helped me lower my blood pressure. Loving it and looking forward to more

Musical Masterclass
I am working my way through every episode and I cannot get enough of it. I’ve learned so much about the song making process and marvel out how these artists are not only willing to spill their secrets but are eager to do so. You can tell that they love nothing more than to talk about what gets them excited about the process as John masterfully guides them along. I guarantee that your favorite song was not made how you think and you’ll be hanging on every ear-opening word!

Too much electronic music lately
Thanks for the great podcast! Please include artists that do something other than electronic music. How about some more rock, jazz, blues, country, pop, etc?

Gets deep without getting dull
Absolutely love this podcast. It gets deep into the intricacies of what goes into a song while not losing an audience (me) with very little understanding of audio production. You start to listen to music differently. Can’t wait for more.

Fantastic Podcast For Music Creators and Appreciators
This podcast is a true gem. I love how it focuses so much on the creative process behind so many great albums and songs. Unlike other music podcasts, there’s no sense of ego or self importance from the interviewer. He just lets the artists speak and engages them with thoughtful questions. I also love the long form discussions, which sets it apart from Song Exploder. We get to go so much more in depth compared to other podcasts. Keep up the great work!

Exploding Songs!
A podcast where musicians take apart their songs, and piece by piece, tell the story of how they were made... each episode looks at 3 songs off one album with both musician and producer. Together with the host. Starting with the original idea of the song all the way through it’s completion. So if you’re like me and have searched far and wide for Podcasts similar to Song Exploder well my friend I’m pleased to inform you that you have finally found it!

Love this Podcast
Really interesting and awesome podcast for anyone interested in the production and songwriting process behind some amazing records. Love hearing the early demos and isolated original stems. And diving into multiple songs on the record really gets you into the headspace of the artist at the time of the recordings. The Little Dragon and The 1975 episodes were fantastic. Keep it up!!!

Yes!
At first I wasn’t sure if it was gonna be too close to Song Exploder but it has a style of its own, not to mention is more extensive. Plus, some good artists featured!

The. Best.
Such an amazing podcast! I discovered it when John interviewed Dave Bayley from Glass Animals (my favorite band) and I have listened to that episode 4 times because there’s so much to it and it’s so interesting and incredible! Even when an episode is about a band or producer I haven’t heard of before, I end up falling in love with their music because of the experience of listening to how it was made.
