Too many ads
There are so many ads you can barely follow the story

Your episode covering the expulsion of the Acadians was very informative - thank you.

Please tone down the intense ads
I have loved this podcast for many years (and still love the podcast itself!) but the ads that run during the show have become more and more abrasive such that I may have to stop listening. It’s just too jolting to be listening to a chill history topic and then be jolted by an ad with a guy literally shouting an ad about some sports event. Please please dial down the intensity of the ads that are run with the podcast! I don’t want to quit listening but I just can’t deal with the shouting ads anymore.

Cool idea, but they support and promote leftist absurdities
Love the premise of this show. The hosts are not awesome. And they are an openly leftist podcast, promoting LGBTQABC agenda and propaganda. No thanks. If you can’t recognize “Pride” as general unwell, then you likely can’t be trusted to tell history accurately and without your political/cultural bias.

Turned political
This podcast has changed from being about history to being way too political. In a recent episode, they spent 25% of the episode talking about an event that happened a week earlier. They were very clear on their political views on the event. Please go back to only telling stories about what happened years ago without the political commentary.

Love this show!
I’ve been a fan of this podcast for several years, and I’m just as big of a fan today. I learn so much from it and the hosts are a delight.

Liberal History Class
I’ve listened to this podcast since its inception. I’ve enjoyed the various hosts and always appreciate varying perspectives. However, the hosts have become insufferable, self-righteous preachers of their preferred view of history. I feel unwanted and unwelcome as a listener and am sad to be hitting unfollow after many years enjoying niche history stories.

By all means, please be political
I’ve been listening to this podcast for over a decade, and it remains a bright, thoughtful, and necessary voice in historical education. In response to reviews criticizing the hosts for being “too political,” I offer the opposite: please don’t stop. History does not—and cannot—exist in a vacuum. Stripping it of emotional context, relevance, or present-day implications turns it into lifeless trivia. When recent public figures like the HHS Secretary promote falsehoods about disease, or the firing of the Librarian of Congress stirs outrage, I want to hear Tracy and Holly connect the dots. That’s not bias—it’s history doing its job. If it bothers you to hear propaganda and lies called out and countered with receipts, compassion, and clarity, then perhaps history was never your true interest—just a comfortable version of it.

Too political
I enjoyed this podcast for a long time. Can’t take it anymore… everything seems to be politics. We get you are mad… but when you drag it into the podcast it is not pleasant to listen to anymore.

Should change name of show to why I hate Trump
Use to like the show now you have to listen to a 5 minute opening of how bad Trump is. It’s a history podcast not a political commentary.

Political
I can’t listen to them be political anymore. I’ve been listening to this show for over ten years, enjoying every minute. The last few months have been infused with their political views and beliefs, and while I believe that those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it, I also believe educators have a responsibility to be neutral in presenting the facts and allow students to form their own opinions. I realize this isn’t a classroom setting, but the basic principle is the same. I came here to learn and I’ve absolutely loved it, but I don’t need to have your opinions shoved at me. Present the information and be done with it.

End The Political Bias
I have enjoyed listening to your podcasts for several years now. However, lately you seem to be bringing in your political views. I have lost almost all respect for most journalists - it would be disheartening to add you to the list.

Thank you!
This show has been a constant companion for almost a decade. I love seeing the crossovers of different stories in history, and I truly appreciate how the hosts are dedicated to honesty and truth.

Took me a while...
…..to get used to the style of the presentations, but now I ‘get it’ and really look forward to each new episode. I love learning about interesting people and events that were not front and center in the names/dates/places version of history that dominated in the classroom. aAnd I truly appreciate the discussions of sources, how solid/trustworthy various pieces of the story are.

Racist and *Phobic
These host must be the most racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist podcasters ever. The amount of times identity politics and oppressed vs oppressor concept being brought up could only mean they are making up or covering their own bigoted views.

True Patriotic Podcast
Revising my old review to say, I have always enjoyed this podcast as education and entertainment. Now, I love this podcast for standing up for our country in a time when our most basic values of liberty are under attack. You have a FOREVER fan.

You two are amazing, thank you for all that you do. I’m an even bigger fan now after you’ve said what needed to be said about this current administration.

Women and poc’s you missed in history
This podcast is going downhill with 75% “strong women” history topics. Please keep it balanced, your listeners need you! 2 of the last 32 episodes about white males. How long will the revenge take? Edit 4/17/2025: Gone full left. One star.

I have listened to almost every show from the very beginning of this podcast. I love that the host of the recent Spring Unearthed stated the impact of the current administration on researching history. I I think until people really understand the impact of these changes, we will not know what is lost until it is too late. However, I feel like this show continually shines the light on so many parts of history that I would not know about if these two hosts did not talk about it. They are very thorough, and I have enjoyed learning so much more about the world around me because of them. Thank you for speaking out about the impact of what we’re experiencing right now. I am so appreciative of the two of you, and even more so now.

Defenders of knowledge
Thank you so much for sharing about the recent obstructions by the federal government to learning. It meant a lot to hear you stand up for truth against their efforts to mislead and silence people.

Politically slanted
Generally, when I listen to a history podcast, I expect to learn about history. There are plenty of podcasts out there that will give me a politically slanted view of current events. That’s just not what I’m looking for in a HISTORY podcast. The 4/14/2025 was unbearable. I couldn’t get through the first three minutes.

Untrustworthy due to injecting woke ideology
The hosts can't help but inject woke ideology all throughout the podcast. They've biased it so much that we can't trust they're actually talking about history, or trying to subvert history - a grave corruption. This is what the Soviets did. iHeart should consider getting hosts that won't pollute history with their leftist ideology.

Great history podcast, always a good go-to for interesting topics
I’ve been listening to the show for almost ten years, and I recommend it highly. The topics are kind of random, but I find that a plus as there are so many interesting episodes and topics that open the door on some new topic I never knew about. The hosts, current and those prior (who sometimes come up on “classic” episodes) are clearly passionate about history and go the extra mile to find aspects of stories you may not hear elsewhere…and follow-up as they learn (or “Unearth”) more! Check them out…

Go girl!
I LOVE this show and have my masters in Stuff you Missed in History Class. I can’t explain how on your side am about your statements on April 14! I can’t imagine what will become of our world I. The next 4 years. I am scared, but as a white hetero cis-woman I am privileged, but I love many that are not! I will always fight for equality for all! Thank you for your work! Keep up the good fight!

Amazing show, even better hosts!
Tracy and Holly, you rock! Thank you for pointing out the cruel horrors of the current administration and making it clear the direct impact it has on your listeners who enjoy learning about the past. History fans can not and should not be allowed to ignore the magnitude of influence current events have on our ability to access historical information and to learn from it!
Katis228
Thank you
I’m mad too. Furious. Keep doing what you are doing and be sure to protect your work so it can’t be destroyed. It might be one of the only historical references that survives.

Getting a little too woke
I have listened to the show for the last five years and while I have picked up on in the past that the current hosts and I have different political and ideological views… it’s been getting a little out of hand. I am all for being passionate about your own viewpoint, but episodes over the last few months are becoming hard to listen to due to political rants. I would rather that the stories be presented in a way that allows the listener to come to their own conclusions, not being told what they should think or feel about a subject. However, the subjects are usually great and it is an easy listen. I just miss how the show used to be.

So many interesting topics that are not covered in regular history classes!

Thank you
Thank you for speaking out today, Tracy, concerning the troubling path our leadership is taking us down to obliterate the truth about our nation. As you say it is NOT unpatriotic to know the good, bad, and the ugly in our progress as a nation. Educated and well informed people can make educated decisions, but our leadership seems intent on keeping the populace uneducated so they can blindly follow- very scary times, but I applaud you and all who have a microphone for standing up and speaking out!

Fascinating History
Thank you for providing such a fascinating look at history and the people within it! I really appreciate how well-organized it is and that it’s a “warts and all” inclusive dive. Honestly, what is the point of exploring history if it’s just a “sanitized don’t want to possibly offend anyone” examination? Only great countries become great when they are honest about their history and grow and change because of it.

Too many Ads and not enough variety
This was one of the first podcasts I listened to and really enjoyed originally. But I feel like it’s gone downhill. The biggest complaint I have is the number of ads. It’s excessive for such a short podcast. Add in to that the listener mail at the end which can run for several minutes. They take over way too much of each episode and I find myself skipping more than I listen. On top of that the episodes feel repetitive (Unearthed, sinking ships, eponymous foods) and either condemning or pandering in how the hosts talk about the subjects. I like the hosts, don’t get me wrong. But I can’t remember the last time an episode really grabbed my attention and inspired me to read more about a subject.

Far too unimpressed
Great show, bad management
I love this show, the hosts are fantastic, it’s great to hear these overviews of topics that often don’t get mentioned in a typical history class, but I absolutely have to dock some points for the current ad situation. Some ads are necessary of course, but right now we’re listening to a 40-50 minute episode and 15-20 of it is ad copy, sometimes the same ad twice in a row. It’s too much. Updating because while the episodes are still ~30-40% ad, they seem to have fixed the hearing the same ad multiple times in a row issue.

Woke & Condescending
I’ve tried to listen to this podcast but the two host “historians” are loathsome. Any potential is instantly obliterated by the utterly silly woke bias. History 101-level training teaches you to not use your condescending, pedantic, 21st-century theories to judge historical figures who lived hundreds of years ago. How about more fact, less opinion? I wasn’t going to mention the shrill, nasally voices, but they deserve it since most episodes involve them snidely snorting—literally snorting—at any white male historical figure. If you love modern leftist politics disguised as inaccurate “history” with a healthy dose of white lady condescension, listen & subscribe, because Tracy & Holly know far more than you.

Wanted to love it but too biased/“woke”
They are great storytellers but kept shifting further and further to the left with their commentary. It ultimately made this unlistenable.

A Beautiful Show
I have learned so much. And in the darkest present day times having a podcast that is not about the current world is like a warm bath. I love Holly and Tracy. This podcast is a gift for the curious and helps get me out of my doom spiral sometimes.

Scraping the bottom of the barrel
I used to really like this show, years ago, but now it seems like they’re picking the topics that are just uninteresting. I still like the Saturday Classics and the hosts have lovely voices and personalities, but so many of the episodes in the last few years have bored me to tears

Girls are too goofy
Love the subject matter but as a 75 year old woman - I find the giggling too annoying to listen to it It’s a shame as I do like most of the subjects - But there is lots to listen to on podcasts and YouTube without getting angry at their stupid comments

Best part of my week
I’ve been listening since these episodes were just a few minutes long. Holly and Tracy are the highlight of my week

Love it
Entertaining and factual bits of history. Thank you for citing your sources.

Incredible & Informative- Love it!
I adore Holly and Tracy; the information they share is well-researched and presented in a fantastic way. They have integrity and in the *very rare* time they make a mistake, they will correct themselves asap. I love that they dive into lesser known historical people and events- giving a voice and recognition to those who were previously under appreciated. I have learned so much from this pod and am so thankful for it. I highly recommend!!
