Funny and Entertaining Woodworkers
This is my favorite woodworking podcast. (But please don’t tell Logan that). John, Logan and Phil make me feel like I am having coffee with pals. The banter is great, and the bits of knowledge and hearing people talking about things they are passionate about is always great. The recurring ShopSmith related smack talk is hilarious. I am fond of the magazines these gentlemen produce as well as the television show. Keep up the good work. Thanks!

Great discussions
I absorb a lot of good information listening to these folks B.S. especially loved hearing from Brent Hull!

Like old friends
I love listening to these folks while doing my morning exercise routine. It’s kind of like sitting in a diner having morning coffee with a few old friends. No, it’s not always about strictly woodworking, but neither is life, and the tangents are usually somewhat related. They make the miles on the treadmill go by faster.

Great podcast!
I really appreciate having a podcast to listen to once a week that is clean, fun, and full of good tips!

Knocking a couple back with friends
Great show, I feel like I could sit down with these guys and join right in with their conversations. I do miss Nick though.

This is a little creepy
I just came across this show this morning before my drive to work, and figured I’d give it a listen. The first episode that I listened to is the latest one released where the cast talks about the finishing process, and the latest issue of Woodsmith Magazine. Later in the day, I get home and check the mailbox, and what do I find?… an offer for a free year, and a free “The Complete Small Shop” book with a 2 year subscription to Woodsmith Magazine. What are the odds of that? Well, I’m about to mail off my card for the subscription, and binge all of the episodes of this podcast, as I really like what I’m hearing so far. I guess you could say that it was just meant to be.

Black Locus?
Good luck it’s almost a tree that is a solid knot. It’s hard to plane bu hand or planer, I haven’t ran it through a belt sander yet that may be your best bet after a good run through a jointer. You guys are great! James Coleman

Fantastic, educational podcast for the fellow woodworker…
By far, the best woodworking podcast available! These guys are unpretentious and very down-to-earth in there explanations and tips for woodworking. I look forward to listening to this podcast while driving around(as a project manager for a general contracting company). I have been a carpenter since I was 16 years old (23years and counting...) and I am in the process of setting up my own, first wood shop. I’m in the process of outfitting an oversized, two car garage (26’x27’) in my first home. The tips, pointers, trade secrets, discussions, topics, and humor expressed throughout this podcast helps me to become a better woodworker. Much appreciated and keep up the good work! You guys rock!

Meh!
Way too much bull sh1# and not nearly enough woodworking. Sad that the podcast of a woodworking mag is so lacking in woodworking. Hey guys, do your shop gossiping elsewhere. Good luck!

The Logan Show
I tried, I really did. I have listened for over a year but can't take it anymore. I had hoped for an educational audio podcast from an established wooodworking publication, but it's just three guys jabbering on about themselves. They pick a woodworking topic but it's just their personal stories without any meat behind it. I do not question each member's expertise as the magazine is professional and educational, unfortunately it does not translate to the podcast. My biggest issue is that the show is three-quarters Logan jabbering on about himself. He pretty much takes over each podcast he is in, hense the title - "The Logan Show". I had hoped being a woodworking magazine podcast that there would be more education and perhaps some Q&A. It has become tiresome and time to move on.

Nice format.
I look forward to each episode and enjoy the informal nature of the program without much useless chatter as some other woodworking podcasts. I can appreciate the effect of the pandemic on the show and the remote structure but please mute your cell phones. Someone’s beeps and/or vibrates during airing and I think it’s mine. Since I’m usually listening while driving, this can be a distraction.

What’s in the background
This has the potential to be a fantastic podcast but every episode sounds like they are recording in a grade school playground. The background noises are terrible. Logan’s mike sounds like a fisher price toy and someone is constantly tapping or scraping something. It’s very distracting for me.

Great, but...
I’m really enjoying these. The biggest challenge for me is the differences in sound quality. Two of the last three episodes I’ve listened too had sound issues where I couldn’t hear one or more people, or they were cutting out. The most recent episode required me to turn my volume way up for one person, then get blasted by audio when the others talked. Please work on this. As for as quality content goes, these are great. I’m even inclined to look through my ShopNotes CD/DVD for some new projects. Just don’t tell my wife. I haven’t finished her sewing center yet that I started nearly 6-years ago...

Almost great podcast
The content is great, as are the hosts. However, one if the hosts, (Logan) has the most annoying habit (maybe it is just my pet peeve) of using the word “right?” in nearly every sentence. Hopefully, this constructive criticism will make him change, or i will just have to unsubscribe.

Audio engineer needed...
Love the concept and content but in my opinion this podcast needs some audio normalizing help. It seems like Logan’s mic is really close, Phil’s is generally really low/quiet, and everybody else is somewhere in between. The variation amongst each speakers mic feed is too dynamic and thus I find it difficult to listen to at a reasonable volume.

Quarantine Woodworking
I’ve loved hearing about how you all have handled woodworking during the quarantine. I loved this last episode where several of you shared books you’ve been reading. I was just curious, have any of you ever watched/listened to/read Paul Sellers in England? He’s been a major influence in my woodworking. I’m a dentist by trade and am very careful with my hands so I started with hand tools only. As I’ve lost my fear of power tools, he’s really influenced how I approach my work, even with power tools since he’s made me better versed with hand tools. I would love to hear your thoughts on his work. Thanks for a great podcast guys!

Fun and informal
The first podcast I've listened to. Nice to hear the casual side of the show. Second generation magazine subscriber.

Low key and to the point
More about the craft of woodworking and less about the glitz of podcasting. A refreshing change from some other podcast productions.

I enjoy it
Look forward to the podcast every week. Very informative straight up ideas, answers, and tips. It sounds like a kicked backed and lets have a beer and talk about it setting.

Has potential
Please limit the use of the word yeah. I know this is new for you but I can’t be the only one annoyed. Let the speaker complete a sentence. Good luck.

A Great shop companion!
I find myself at peace in my shop listening to the ShopNotes podcast. Hearing the perspectives and experiences of these seasoned Woodworker’s gives me a “grounded” and collective feeling knowing I’m part of something larger. This shared experience makes this an excellent option for listening while I work. Sincerely, Blaine.

Makes my woodworking week better!
Thoughtful and interesting discussions on woodworking, tips, and woodworking lifestyle. Really enjoyable!

Thoughtful discussions on woodworking
A great podcast that focuses on getting the project done instead of selling you a specific tool. Always good to hear unbiased talk about methodology. Dado or slot cutting bit or spiral cutter? Finishing tips and types.
