I heard an interview with Evan and snippets from this series on Radiolab (I believe it was) and was instantly intrigued. It’s an interesting listen and has helped me confront this aspect of AI that I had been assiduously ignoring.

I’m just two episodes in, but am really finding the reporting and first person storytelling super compelling.

I loved that you approached this really dystopian, kind of scary topic from such a personal and vulnerable angle rather than just fearmongering. I laughed a lot, I cringed at times, and by the final episode I couldn’t stop smiling.

Once you dive in you might not be able to stop!

This series was funny, bizarre, thoughtful, and strangely moving. One of the best examinations of AI I’ve found.

Rare is the podcast that can make me laugh aloud and keep my rapt attention while simultaneously imbuing me with a deep sense of impending doom. I will forevermore subscribe to anything Evan produces, but also never sleep soundly again.

I think it’s always a betrayal not to tell people they’re speaking to a voice agent. One of your friends said, “Can’t you hear me suffering?” as they guess it’s a bot, but the bot still doesn’t admit it’s false(?!)- that seems so wrong!

The name caught my eye. And after reading the description, what started with a “hmm, I’ll give it a shot” turned very quickly into an addiction. Every episode was excellent and now I’m hooked to whatever else Evan Ratliff decides to put out there. I’ll even listen to an AI Evan at this point ;p

Great podcast, even for those not interested in AI making fake voices. Ten out of ten for quality and journalism and bonus stars for no ads!

This needs to be a documentary or movie, It's fascinating. It demystifies what AI can really do. it realistically rescopes AI and how it will be used as a lazy, less effective substitute that will wreak havoc with its inaccuracy! Tbh AI is most dangerous because ppl are lazy and really for no reason think tech is smarter than us. Just like ppl think a filtered photo of them on social media is now a representation of them. I love how laughable the AI versions of everyone is. Just like seeing a highly filtered person looks nothing like their photo in person. Ppl need to live in reality

This series has helped me to better understand the state of AI at the time of its making. I had some laugh out loud as well as cringe and introspective moments listening as Evan pushed his Voice Agents into different situations.

Terrifying and beautiful! Some of the things the AI comes up with is terrifying… and poetic! The comparisons to the AI revolution and the internet revolution are amazing. It’s probably going to be a similar life change: both more work (email) and not that life changing (Amazon replaces Sears or whatever). But we can’t know in the moment! Guess I’m gonna have to store this show somewhere and listen to it again in, idk, 10 years or so. 🤣

Evan manages to balance the utter absurdity and potential terror of AI in a deeply human (often hilarious) way. His curiosity and willingness to use himself as a test subject provides answers to a lot of questions about the implications of this technology, but also sheds light on some tough moral quandaries we’ll all eventually need to navigate. Can’t wait for another season.

I’ve listened to thousands of podcasts since I dove into this medium 7-8 years ago, and this one is perhaps the best of all. What sets it apart is its unique ability to be both hilarious and deeply heartbreaking. Through Evan’s experimentation with AI voice agents, the technology reveals both the terrifying and the beautiful. Terrifying in that the AI explosion exposes how desperately humans long for personal connection. And beautiful in that AI may actually provide that connection to those most in need. The show illustrates that AI may never fully replicate a human and all our glorious idiosyncracies, but it can provide a service. And it’s tireless. And it won’t judge. I found this podcast thanks to an interview on the Scuffed podcast, and I hope there will be a season 2!

I really enjoyed listening to this and I think it’s important for everyone to know about the capabilities of AI and what it can be used for because it’s here whether we like it or not! There were some parts that were genuinely disturbing and shocking, but in an informative way.

This show inspires a deep sense of morbid curiosity. At times it almost feels like a dark comedy, pushing the boundaries as to what can and should be done. A personal journey along with an examination of our collective psyches in the coming AI age, I Couldn’t recommend this enough.

I have been following AI advances from a remove, but this podcast drives home how fast this is all moving and how astonishingly disruptive it is going to be. This podcast is a must listen! He has done an amazing job showing wha AI voice agents can do now and they are just going to keep getting better.

I’m listening to it a 2nd time. Evan is such a great storyteller, that if he did a show about cardboard I would listen to it.
