This is a fantastic science show. I’ve been listening for years. I will say I prefer the more science focused content over bio/psycho stuff. I realize that sounds stupid, but I’m saying that I constantly deal with people, so would rather learn about pangolins and how they didn’t do anything wrong. Love, love Best, Jim

Adam Grant brought me back here!
I used to listen regularly. Then I took a break. I am back, based on a recommendation by Adam Grant. In my experience, when Adam says he's listening to a podcast, it's a gift worth receiving!

Always Good!
Wide variety of topics. Always an informative show. Would love an episode on hysteria. What exactly is hysteria? Is there something going on today that qualifies as hysteria?

Too political. No longer about the science.

Love this Pod
1st time reviewing any pod. Love youre content, your hosts, your entire production. There is no “bad” episode. But i do miss some lighter content. Speaking as someone that has lately been feeling too heavy from news and politics, is there anyway to sprinkle back in some lighter -yet still illuminating- episodes. I miss learning about stuff like “are infrared light devices worth the hype” something thats interesting, informative, but also an emotional break. Again. Love you guys. Thank you for what you do

Would love to love this
The content and experts interviewed are interesting but why are the analogies the worst!! Genuinely unhelpful and so painful to listen to that sometimes I just have to turn the episode off

Emboldened abusers
Regarding the episode, “Is your relationship…ok?” Abusers manipulate people into thinking they don’t understand what they are doing. I can’t get it out of my head that you and your guest echoed the narrative that they often don’t realize they are hurting their partners. I normally take comfort in facts and reality on this show, but you really missed the mark on this one. Abusers are making a choice to hurt. They don’t deserve the megaphone you just gave. They are hurting their children because they know it’s the best way to hurt their partners. People don’t understand it and don’t want to believe it. And victims of coercive controllers are isolated because nobody believes them. And instead of taking this opportunity to expose the child abuse and partner abuse that is happening and systemic due to patriarchy, you decided to echo the narrative that they don’t understand and just trying to love. This is not science, it’s false. It’s dangerous to embolden and empower abusers in this way.

This is not a political podcast
I am an independent, and enjoyed listening to your podcast for many years, until recently. Way too much political opinion by the hosts.

Best Science Show since Radiolab
You guys do a really great job explaining science and how everything works. I’m a fan of your show and I try to be consistent when it comes to listening. You guys are all about fact checking and you never fail to be entertaining.

The most interesting mind boggling stories and subjects about the most practical and impractical things. A way to make any subject interesting! MUST LISTEN!

Still a great podcast
I love this podcast. I think it has strayed from peer reviewed studies a bit too often. The greatest quality of the show used to be that the host would research the nuances and context behind those studies while making a conclusion on a subject. They did this with cute, but relatable quirkiness. I’ve seen less of that lately. That coupled with the far overused word “like” in every sentence and overuse of colloquialisms makes it difficult to listen to. Purposeful research keeps me listening. I know yall can do it!!

Informative useful trustworthy
This podcast always dives deep into interesting topics relevant to real life with an often comedic tone that makes it easier to consume all of the information. But most importantly they are strongly based in science and fact making all of the revelations trust worthy. 10/10 recommend one of my favorite podcasts of all time!

Go back to your roots!
I really used to love this podcast because it covered a huge variety of topics, helping me learn about things I didn’t even know would interest me. Over the last couple seasons, however I feel like the reporting has become pretty biased and too heavy on politics. I consider myself to be truly moderate on the political spectrum and form my own opinions based on the specific issue rather than following any particular party. Meryl and Rose are just so clearly liberal, adding in their own editorial remarks here and there and it’s hard to listen to. We get it-you hate Trump and the Republican Party. There is so much going on in the world with politics, so much conflict on both sides. I liked to listen to learn about new topics using actual scientific methods. In your old episodes, there was very little opinion from the hosts. If I wanted to listen to political views, I’d go find those podcasts. Go back to your roots and stick with just the science!

Science-based trends?
I love the incredible enthusiasm with which the team looks into the science behind trendy ideas and myths, whether it’s the latest diet fad or advice about sex or personal psychology. And the citations are bonus!

Should be called Opinion Vs…
I used to listen way back in the pre-COVID times, and this was such a fun and informative podcast. I witnessed its demise into partisan hackery in real time as they went from telling the truth about the uncertainty of COVID and studies that showed cloth masks do absolutely nothing to stop this type of virus aaaaaaaaaall the way to having Fauci as a guest spouting his now-disproven BS about the virus and telling its listeners to fall in line. Then there was the episode about transgender women in women’s sports, and their “science” was one study with SIX participants, including the person running the study, who was a trans woman… who magically found that in her bike-riding study, gender didn’t matter at all. Now - this is completely debunked. So I stopped listening. It was way too partisan and politically motivated. And today I come back and listened to the vaccine schedule show, hoping that the years have rolled-back their misguided ways. NOPE! From the first word, the mere tone of the hosts’ voices let me know that this entire episode was going to be biased towards their opinion… which is, of course, the exact opposite of the current Trump administration’s new guidance. And what a shocker, every single thing they said was all backing up their opinion. Was there any actual SCIENCE about vaccine injuries, or efficacy or side effects or anything? Nope! All opinion… given in smug tones and half-chuckles at the simple-minded opposition. It’s kind of funny that your expert who was bashing the new recommendations for the RSV virus included a story about how bad a recent RSV season has been… with kids who were vaccinated…. So… is the vaccine even effective?! Maybe a second look and some studies would actually produce a better vaccine that would be back in the must-have list. Medicaid is extremely robust these days - any child who needs a vaccine or medical care has access to it, yet they make our country sound like the old west when nobody had access to healthcare, so taking out the less-common disease vaccines is gonna be detrimental to all these kids with no access to healthcare. How do you think they get the vaccines in the first place…. They have healthcare!! It’s completely ridiculous. Has the opposition to vaccine reform forgotten who even started this fight? Hint - it was LIBERAL DEMOCRATS!! But since Kennedy was appointed by Trump, now he is the enemy and everything he’s been doing for decades for the liberal side of the spectrum is considered quackery. It’s very disappointing that a once lovely and entertaining podcast has turned into a mindless propaganda machine. I’ll never make the mistake of giving them one more try.

Love this podcast!
Fun and informative! As a scientist, it’s so wonderful to hear science covered well! Thank you also for braving criticisms of “political bias” to bring the tough and important stories! It gives me hope!

Much needed science!
We live in a country where so many people are exposed to false non- scientific information. We need to get back to using science FACTS to make wise decisions for our lives and the country we live in. This show does a great job of presenting facts and evidence in an entertaining format. Well done you! Hope more and more people start listening to programs like yours!

Science?
So, I guess mixing up science in the muddy, highly subjective waters of politics qualifies as science now? This podcast has done what appears to be some truly worthy content, but when you play in the profoundly distorted world of politics, it calls all your “science” episodes into question.

Not what it used to be
I used to love the podcast and recommended it to many. Last few seasons the topics aren’t as interesting. Show just isn’t very interesting anymore.

Half truths are not science
When a “science” podcast says things you know are objectively false then it is reasonable to assume the topics you don’t know are also false. This is political commentary masquerading as a science show. A science show would equally present both sides of a topic but they don’t do it. Don’t waste your time
GregLBS
Sometimes brilliant sometimes propaganda
Some episodes explain and reveal, those where good questions are asked of erudite people. But often there is political bias or misunderstanding the basics. Good science requires understanding the underlying principles and usually you’re clearly journalists looking in a window without knowing what goes on inside.

Lots of sources, trustworthy scrutiny, fun/silly energy
I miss Wendy hosting. Probably going to tune in for her episodes still though, of course. I do love the show’s purpose in general, and their process makes me feel good about what I am listening to. They pretty much always have over 80 sources and discuss the credibility of the studies they use. They cater to everyone’s perspective. The energy is so fun, I find myself listening to episodes over and over lol. Great storytelling and very interesting topics. I love how deep they go too - they don’t leave me with a ton of questions about the validity of the takeaways. I feel like I can actually trust them. Thanks, Science VS.

I’ve been enjoying and passing on this wonderful podcast for years now. But given that you’ve allow Home Depot to advertise and accept money from that company that supports ICE, my support for the show will stop not to mention all that I have passed on the show too. Pick your advertising better. Don’t help the natzi regime. You’re better than that. I’ll listen to one more show to see if this podcast is part of the problem or the solution?

Um…
So, Why are we freaking the clack out because they need moneys for their show, if you were making a show you’d take money where you could get it. Also, the people who say “oH tHiS iSnT sCiEnCe” probably don’t actually know what science means and are like MAGA supporters. And don’t be ableist. Just don’t.

Unbiased??
This is literally how the most recent AI based episode began..."We're going to take a scientific look at whether AI is making us stupid or whether if actually helps people". They intro with the usual, that they are going to examine the topic from an unbiased, fact-based perspective. This is immediately followed by a disclaimer that "some AI companies do provide financial support to the Science Vs podcast". That is then followed by an ad from an AI company. Can you now trust that any information which follows is from an unbiased perspective?

Ads for AI with the AI topics
I used to really like this show. But I’ve lost my trust in their lack of bias because of their recent AI content. They have ads from AI companies alongside episodes minimizing the harms of AI. Really sad to no longer enjoy or trust this show. Science communication is such an important role.

Non-scientific science show?
I appreciate the effort but non-scientists talking to a couple of random “experts” about a subject doesn’t make your content legitimate.

Great show More people should listen
My 30 year old son, a college ballroom dancer went to a chiropractor for his 5th adjustment. It resulted in BBB a brain stem hemorrhage. He lived but ten years later still has body asymmetrical issues and his dancing and singing days are done. The adjustment WAS performed correctly according to industry standards. These complications are vastly underreported according to the hospital staff.

Used to be my Favorite :(
This pod used to be my absolute favorite, and I listen to a LOT of podcasts. The quality of the science has really gone downhill (not to mentions we’re lucky to get Wendy at all anymore - the absolute heart and soul of the show). A podcast based on science should do just that - explain the science we have now on a certain subject. There’s no room for hand holding, or pulling punches. Even using the most recent episode on Chiropractors for example, the show seems to wish wash over the fact that there is NO scientific mechanism based proof that would show how chiropractors reduce pain (other than the obvious, placebo effect). Which they state. But then they seem to feel they need to placate people to not make them mad…at the SCIENCE? By saying “but it’s ok if you go”, almost suggesting you should? While in the same sentence mentioning there’s no evidence for a mechanism behind why this would work? It’s not even a science podcast at this point, I can’t recommend it to people, much less bring myself to listen. Please I’m begging y’all to go back to your roots. I’m BEGGING.

Delight
It’s charming, delightful, and still fact based. The hostesses are perfect. I’m always cheered up even if the topic is depressing. If America still believed in PBS, this would be in the Sesame Street, Mister Rogers, Bill Nye category of content.

Fact-based and Reliable!
Science Vs is such a great show—I really appreciate the detailed sourcing in each episode, the way the hosts ask questions that challenge their own prior beliefs on a topic, and the range of experts they consult. The show also does follow ups when new studies come out that nuance or challenge previous episodes, which really helps cement its credibility.

No pushback on Samin Nosrat talking about menus as appropriation
So sad that this pod is supposed to be about challenging what we think we know and superstar Persian chef Samin Nosrat was allowed to come on and talk about tasting menus as oppression and appropriation without and pushback or reality checking. Hard unsubscribe.

Is AI ruining the planet?
Pretty disappointed in the lack of depth in the questioning. You talked about water usage, but didn’t ask about water contamination or what some of these data centers are claimed to be putting into the air. If you’re going to debunk or support claims regarding the scale of damage these facilities may or may not cause, please wait until you do a more thorough investigation before airing. Minimizing this in people’s minds just reinforces continued use and potential damage.

Annoying voices
Recent episode with Michelle Dang for “Daylight Savings Time” was difficult to get through. Instead of just letting the guest explain, Michelle kept “oohing” and “aahing” with way too many “noooo waaaaayyyy” or “REALLY”. Honestly, STOP and just let the guest talk through what their findings were. It’s unbearable to hear Michelle interject constantly like I’m listening to two girls gossiping with each other. This show needs to evaluate how they present information.

Not science
A lot of these shows are really disappointing. Not a lot of science and a lot more jumping to conclusions, presumably based on the podcasters’ opinions and biases. For example, the recent one on fertility rates decreasing. They framed the fact that birth rates are decreasing as a real problem, even though globally our population is still on the rise. Then went on to talk about ways we can convince people to have more babies. That’s not science. And they only glossed over environmental concerns associated with population rise and basically shut it down as “not that important” for climate. Are you kidding me?! We are already at an overpopulated size that is not sustainable for the earth to house long-term. Why would increasing our population ad infinitum be the answer?! Never did they mention actual stats on land usage changes with population rise, increasing pressure on native ecosystems, increasing demands for goods and resources, etc.

Getting worse
This show has become borderline intolerable. For a while, I thought I was listening to interesting fact-based science, but now it sounds more like subtly snarky gossip girls gaslighting listeners with their own cherry-picked biases. They literally referred to one opposing mainstream opinion and its supporters as “really, really stupid”. That’s not science.

Good series when Merry and Rose are talking because they present the information on the topic very well. When they do episodes I feel I learn more and they make me think more about the topic.

Like An Educational Hug
I’ve been listening for years, and I’ve always loved this show, but lately I’ve been going through some of the worst times I’ve ever faced, and I find myself listening to it whenever I just can’t cope anymore. I get to learn something cool, and in a fun way, and, whoever said to me in acting school that Australian is British with a smile, guess they were right, because doesn’t Wendy always sound like she’s smiling? I just find this show really welcoming, and even when darker things are discussed they’re discussed compassionately and with moments of levity and hope interspersed to give you a break. With everything so sad and scary on every level for me right now, it has been so so nice to have this show to listen to. It’s a fantastic comfort show, if you’re looking for one, and you’ll truly learn well researched stuff that will be useful in your life. (I do not need to be worrying about whether there is a plastic spoon in my brain with everything else going on, and now that I’ve listened to that episode, I feel way less anxious about that) I love this show, and recommend it to anybody who wants to feel that “omg science is so cool!!” feeling from when you were a kid watching animal planet or going to the science center again.
