Was good...no too many ads
20% of the entire show is an ad. The content has now gotten rote. Pity, the content is not good enough to pull the trigger on the ad free version.

More Malcolm please
Have been a long time fan of Malcolm and this podcast gives me life. I am not ready to give up hearing from Malcolm though!

Really Enjoy This Podcast
Overall, a very interesting and informative podcast. At times, his opinion is expressed instead of a straightforward unbiased analysis of both sides. But I’m not sure that they claim to not have an opinion so that’s OK. Really enjoy the style of his delivery his sense of humor and his voice tone is very engaging.

Great Content, Too Many Ads
Current episode I’m listening to (about RFK, Jr.) is over 25% ads.

Disappointed, always enjoyed Malcolm but recent episodes are lacking balance
Malcolm appears to be pushing a narrative more these days rather than his old format of diving into obscure but interesting topics and letting the evidence speak for itself.

Outstanding
The majority of episodes are eye-opening and thought provoking. Better than his books (which are also outstanding IMHO) because they get to the point in 30 minutes or less. Malcom’s style of narration is warm, hip, humorous, and intelligent. I look forward to listening to one or more episodes every day.

Genius:Gladwell
Some years ago, I had the occasion to be at a book conference and Malcolm Gladwell on the speakers. He spoke fluently and off the cuff. He had no notes. He was covering the range of writing, and he was revealing his soul at the same time. I fell in love with that man then as someone who appreciates the beauty of words and language. The most recent episode about the song “Hallelujah” is good for my soul. Thank you, again, Malcolm.

Malcolm and Ben
Excellent podcast and I love both the style and the content of both hosts!

Malcolm, please come back.
My family and I have been listening to this podcast every summer on our annual road trip since the very first season. The amazing storytelling and narration of the early seasons made the drive much more enjoyable. But in the most recent seasons, the iconic voice of Malcolm Gladwell has taken a peripheral role, while the monotone voices of new hosts who are not as gifted in the art of storytelling dominate almost every episode. The podcast was much more engaging when its original host and creator guided us through things overlooked and misunderstood. Malcolm, please come back.

Both interesting and biased
Malcolm Gladwell is good at picking topics worth thinking about. He has talent when it comes to leading discussions. However he has clear biases. You will hear him describe instances of white police brutality on black people but will never discuss issues where the victim/victimizers are switched. He seems afraid to cover topics which might challenge his political leanings.

Fabulist
Shills for big biz, punishment bureaucracy, and all things status quo. Interesting only when critical thinking is shut off.

An incredible amount of commercials
The episode content is very hit or miss and Malcolm Gladwell often comes off as pretentious but overall this is a good podcast. The real hitter is the incredible amount of 30 second+ commercials in 30-40 minute episodes. It especially is hard to take some comments as sincere when they are buttressed by ads on both sides. It ultimately makes me think money is the all important outcome, not bringing interesting ideas to the table. I am not upset that there are ads, just how many repeated in short episodes.

Spin-doctoring
I was truly hoping for a cerebral podcast that helps a listener consider both sides of the proverbial political coin regarding debated topics but yet again, just another podcast spreading more propaganda to insight further divide in our country.

I would listen 24/7 if it were available!
I love the insightful deep-dives on interesting topics.

Also see Star Trek TNC for more on face blindness
I have been a long time listener of this show and enjoy how it makes me think, even at times I do not 100% agree.
Revisionist recently did an ep on Face Blindness which immediately made me think of another podcast. Star Trek: the next conversation (5/5⭐️) is the best podcast about start trek. Also about nothing and everything else at the same time. One of the hosts also believes they have face blindness. So if you want literally hundreds (if not thousands) of hours of excellent content to listen to, including frequent mention of face blindness for a case study… ST: TNC is for you!

Another phrase to retire
Listening to Malcolm and John ending on phrases that must be purged I’ve always been keenly aware when someone uses the phrase “Just so you know…” you might as well say “I’m going to start speaking now…” superfluous embodied!!

As Good as the Books
Gladwell always impresses me, in everything he creates, with a clarity, flow and incisiveness that makes one first despair of trying to write, and then go inspired to imitate his example. Bravo

I love the thoughtful, reasonable analysis of some difficult topics. I love the respect given to guests without pandering. I LOVE the unapologetic hair.

A biased erudite reporting
A lot of effort is put into the stories so that their sources give credibility to their biases. They rarely cover the alternate view. This is an example why trust in journalism is so low.

Old vs New
I miss the old Malcom who fairly gave both sides and let the listener/reader decide. Now there’s an agenda…just like the masses.

Who said Joe Rogan is a Journalist
Just listened to your podcast critical of Joe Rogan - I was really surprised, you said you listened occasionally to his podcast. I started listening a few months ago and don’t always listen all the way through if the subject isn’t interesting to me. I listen because I want to know what his guests think and occasionally that is what I hear. But you were surprised and disappointed because you expected him to interview like a journalist? He would be the last person to claim to be anything that he isn’t, he’s a comedian and an actor…. he interviews people he likes or wants to learn more about. Who are you anymore Malcolm? As someone who used claim RH was my favorite podcast…. I’ve listened to every episode. You used to be good but now you seem to have left your critical analysis skills behind - I hope you can regain your inquisitive mind again.

Well crafted, interesting podcast
Joe Rogan intervention is podcasting at its best, taking the time to delineate how and where things gone wrong. Kudos to the journalist craft and taking the time and courage to do this!

Liberal biases so bad that you do not trust the points he is trying to make
I really like his books, but can’t stand this podcast because of the political biases. He makes some real stretches that always judge the political right without ever judging the political left.

Paul Offit belongs in the gulag
It seems, Malcolm, that a return to Nuremberg is in order - if not to face judgment, then at least to be reminded of what it means to be complicit. History will not look kindly on you. You have aligned yourself with the architects of cruelty, and your name will sit alongside the enablers of monsters like Mengele. This will be your legacy.

Used to be Great.
The decline of this show needs to be studied.
Malcom’s podcast used to be great because he dove deep into the nuance on both sides of complex and controversial issues in a way that made everyone uncomfortable. He didn’t jump to conclusions and operate on bias or do the easy and lazy take on a complex situation.
Unfortunately, that genuine curiosity has faded. Seasons 1-3 are still some of my favorite podcasts ever. Beyond that, save your time.

Must listen!
This is my absolute favorite podcast, and has been for YEARS. I will regularly go back and listen to old episodes I’ve already listened to, especially when Malcolm is between seasons.

Average disappointment
True follower of your remarkable casts. Fixed income widow that can’t afford “Bonus”. Also can’t afford helping my granddaughters to attend the “ Big Three “ So ironic on your part. Maybe you could provide us a contest, please not tennis or rowing as I am 75. Miss my listening privilege. Hopefully you may see this. Mums, my grandma name.

Keep it up, this is a great listen

Hits and misses
I only listened to the first season, and I apologize if the mistakes I flag here have already been learned from. My wife just had a baby, and I will likely not get to listen any further for a long time, but I’ll try to update my review if and when I do.
Some episodes are very, very good, with forceful attempts to speak truth to power, and I think I learned something profound from many of them. The one on the stuck accelerators was one of the best examples of this, the highlight for me being the criticism of the Consumer Reports video — something like, “no, don’t tell them to keep their foot on the accelerator! That’s the worst advice possible!” I thought that episode was on point and I learned a lot from it.
But then there are the misses. There were two big ones in the first season, which leaves the podcast with an 80% landing rate for its episodes’ arguments in that season.
The first miss is in the first episode. Episode 1 presented an interesting story and psychological theory that could plausibly explain the behavior of a group of men. But, it then extrapolates that theory to a whole societal level without what seemed like proper justification. This extrapolation seemed hard to believe given what I’ve seen in the world — the way I see it, women in general are on a continual rise to power in many ways, with their odds of winning elections going up more or less every year, and women may one day surpass men in politics like they did in higher Ed. And no other possible explanations for what happened in Australia were entertained, other than pure sexism.
One problem with using sexism to explain electoral outcomes is that while sexism surely exists, many female politicians have genuine flaws that shouldn’t be simply swept under the rug — Hillary Clinton and Dilma, Brazil’s first female present, being good examples. I don’t know much about the Australian lady, but from the recording of her speech, she struck me as unafraid of becoming the bully when given the chance.
And similarly, the episode about comedians who made fun of politicians had a logical fallacy in what appeared to be its main argument. Sure, comedians with underlying partisan motives exist. But I wholly disagree with that that means all political comedians should have partisan motives — or that those motives should align with the left. No. I watch political comedy because it’s funny. I hope the people who do political comedy do it first and foremost to make people laugh, and also to speak truth to power, no matter where that power lies or in what political party. If you claim to be speaking truth to power, with broad appeal, but then reveal yourself to have an apparent partisan agenda, then my prediction is that half your viewership will stop feeling like they can readily trust or take seriously what you say, and they’ll leave you behind, screaming into the partisan echo chamber that you yourself created.

Wow your bias is showing
Where was your reporting of the abuse of good officers. This system is in place because of politicians etc. I had to shut it off. What were you trying to to do?

Thank you
Brave reporting with the latest episode. Brave research too. Thank you for the hard and excellent work.

Appropriate title considering….
Malcolm is trying to revise history. Derek Chauvin did not murder George Floyd. George Floyd had a pre-existing heart condition and enough fentanyl in his body to kill a horse. Both of which were covered up by the prosecution. Chauvin was a human sacrifice to appease the BLM mob. Gladwell has proven to be a spineless coward just as his backtracking and groveling apologies for his early take on Broken Window’s policing proves. He’s lost all credibility.

25 cents in 1976.
If it’s a bad review, they will mention politics. If it’s a good review they will mention everything except politics.
History is unique in that way. We hear exactly what we wanted to hear or our worst fears. So while the world debates if the coin was heads up or tails down, it’s good to hear someone say, it was made in 1976 and it’s worth 25 cents. Then, proceed to discuss why any of that matters. 1976 years from what? Who designed it? Why golf is the real antichrist and what that means in regard to inflation and that quarter.
Enjoy yourself.

The tragically hit
New host can’t fill Gladwell’s shoes
I have enjoyed this podcast for many seasons - until the middle of the Hitler’s Olympics series in season 11, when a new voice took over as host. Ben does not have the experience, diction, or charisma to make what he relays engaging and believable. Please bring Gladwell back as primary speaker or find a replacement who can mirror his presence.

Gladwell is brilliant as always
I really enjoy listening to Gladwell’s podcast. The topics are always so intriguing and thought provoking. Only thing holding back from 5 stars are
the ads. Buckle up because there are a lot of them. And when Gladwell narrates the ads, sometimes it is hard to tell the difference from the podcast.

SLOUCHING TOWARDS GOMORRAH
I put RH into my History podcast rotation last fall. I started at Season 1 and am now in Season 8. I usually wait until I’m caught up to the current season to write a review, but too many things about Malcolm and this podcast trouble me so I couldn’t wait.
1. The foul language is unnecessary and offensive. I understand that Malcolm can’t control what his guests say - so why not bleep out their offensive words? Malcolm also resorts to gutter talk himself by regularly using the F-word without bleeping it out. Why?
2. Malcolm repeatedly likes to lionize his home country, Canada, and he regularly criticizes America while rarely praising it. Malcolm, if Canada is so perfect and America is so imperfect, why live here?
3. Finally, and most importantly, Malcolm’s worldview is so leftist that it frames his podcast prism for nearly every single issue that he discusses. A recent example for me was in Season 8 Episode 6, where Malcolm said that Douglas Murray is against the Islamization of the UK and then concludes that this is because Murray “is one of those English people, white English people who objects to the number of non-white people who have moved to England in the last 50 years.” NO MALCOLM, MURRAY IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE NON-ASSIMILATION OF MUSLIM IMMIGRANTS TO THE UK AND EUROPE AND ITS RAMIFICATIONS COUPLED WITH RISING ISLAMIC TERRORISM IN THE UK AND EUROPE. Malcolm’s leftist worldview compelled him to castigate Murray as a racist. Malcolm, do you have the capacity to even explore and / or explain an opinion that is contrary to your own?
I’m not sure whether I’ll make it to the current season. Malcolm, if you read this, please circumspectly consider what I’ve said and I sincerely wish you the best.

Just started listening and I’m already hooked. A great thought provoking look into a number of issues and ideas. Great concept to dive into some stories that we would not normally give a thought to. Wonderfully insightful!

Clear-Eyed
Malcolm Gladwell is certainly one of the most clear-eyed thinkers and writers living today. RH is nuanced and highly informative. No stretch to say he's a hero.
