Really Kissing Up to Trump
This pods discussion of Trump’s takeover of DC was nauseating. Pretending Trump “hinted” at his racism by DC takeover (it’s SCREAMING, not hinting) and like he’s “playing 4D chess” trying to provoke a reaction (totalitarian takeover SHOULD provoke some reaction). Read Project 2025 people. The militarization of US cities is totally from their playbook. 1st LA and now DC. There will be others. Your discussion without mention of a Military takeover that will go to other cities and can be used to intimidate voters shows your lack of courage. This is a totalitarian takeover— it’s not “shades” and all of you refusing to admit that just shows your capitulation to the autocracy. It is not legal to have a standing Militia to use against domestic unrest (as defined by Trump). He is extorting universities and law firms illegally. You are truly appalling cowards. Not sure why I’m still supporting this weak and complicit “journalism.”

Gen Z work
So many reporters sound sophomoric. The reporter from this episode said “kind of” so many times. Why not edit them out?

Ditch the vocal fry
Can we make it a rule that no one with vocal fry is ever interviewed or hosts a podcast? Ever. Go strengthen your diaphragm, then come back and try again…

There is no scandal
There is no Sydney Jean scandal. No. One. Cares. But sure go make something up so MAGA folk have something to gloat about. Thanks for reminding me why I cancelled my Wapo subscription years ago.
lafayettemom
Very unreliable
They’ve done some good stories but as related to this President cannot be trusted, which is why I cancelled my subscription to the WaPo. I’m listening to the Aug 1 show on Epstein of course and tariffs- They are very busy normalizing the fascist narcissist fake news president and the level of analysis here is piss-poor. The host sounds like an undergrad who’s super-happy to be employed. These supposed deals aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on- the EU promised nothing real and any tariffs are only going to hurt us on the consumer end- I think it’s called populism or something? Not to mention all the chaos the stable genius creates. But the Post is only going to give you the shallowest of interpretations. Democracy dies because evil jerks are sure of themselves and smart people are filled with doubts and thoughts of fairness.

This era of reporting needs to go away.
I have no don’t you all pat yourselves on the back for how you report, but you are all quite dishonest and seemingly incompetent.

Excellent explanations
Ladies, please stop giggling. I’m a 50+ yo attorney and I don’t like the giggling. This is serious business, even when it appears as ridiculous behavior by serious men we have elected, let’s not laugh it off. Let’s be outraged, not entertained.

Good coverage; Good topics
I listen to most podcasts. Sometimes they are a little out of date, but things are so fast-moving that it’s hard to keep up. I was fascinated by “Comrade Bishop” because I followed it while it was happening in the alternative press. Worth a listen.

Episode on Epstein
…was incomplete; didn’t address his sweetheart arrangement when he was convicted earlier in Florida. Allowed to leave cell and travel during the day, etc.

Sad-faced
Long decline
I used to listen to every episode, but this podcast has become a cesspool of mostly opinion-based stories… Not "reporting", what emotionally based personal politically charged opinion pieces. Politically, I am very neutral. I don't identify with Ideology. I am an American, not a political party patron. As I'm driving, listening to stories… (not reporting, but stories), I can literally feel my eyes rolling behind my head. Stories often reflect emotional feelings, and don't actually address the root of an issue, they don't even present an argument. It's just stupid feelings ironed into an emotional story. It drives me completely crazy. You can have an opinion, you can even form a story around your opinion. But for Christ sake, leave feelings, and emotion, and your personal perspective of what is fair and what is not fair what is moral and what is immoral, out of it. It's not that it doesn't, "matter". But using an emotional argument to back up a personal opinion is just boring. It doesn't offer insight, it doesn't change perspective, and it doesn't provide news. It is just boring. I don't want to listen to a boring, heavy, heavy, heavy left-leaning opinion piece that is emotionally presented. Stories that reflect the war between Israel and Hamas, never, never, never talk about October 7 and the hostages, nor do they ever discuss Hamas for example. It's just "Israel's war in Gaza". As if Israel woke up on October 8 and just started bombing Gaza for no reason. The war is horrible. But it's not being reported properly... Do better. Stories that are critical of deportations, never refer to illegal immigrants as undocumented or illegal immigrants. Stories that are rightfully critical of Trump often swim in emotions of unfairness rather than focus on the legality of his actions, or how it is he is successfully pushing his agenda forward. It's sloppy journalism, sloppy reporting, and is often just boring.

Afghans at risk
It seems mind blowing that’s a hard copy documents that were destroyed in Afghanistan to protect the Afghanis escaping, we’re not backed up to a cloud in the US. This nightmare should never occur again, but I don’t see anyone trusting us again.

Not the daily
I like variety. I like daily news podcasts. I respect legacy news media. And WP is a behemoth. But no. The production value is not there. The commentary is not as valuable as other outlets. Its problematic relationship to its owner not withstanding, its just an inferior news program. The politics roundtables are fluffy and vibes filled. They get scooped by their competitors. Their culture stories are not refined, surprising, heartfelt, or interesting.

Great show w 2 excellent reporters
I loved the preview of the NBA finals. The Post has excellent reporters.

“Conversation” with Aisha Bowe (May 31) so obviously a recording of her (poorly) reading from script
It was apparent via numerous characteristics that her responses were prepared in advance from pre-submitted questions, read (poorly and unnaturally) from a script, and recorded in isolation—this is not a live “interview.” It was so frustrating to listen to that I had to stop, despite having an abiding interest in the topic. Do better, WaPo, especially if you wish to compete with NYT podcasts. Also voice quality of hosts MATTERS—no one wants to listen to gravely vocal fry. This used to be one of my favorite podcasts:(

Not surprised
I was excited to listen to the episode on books to read for the summer. I quickly googled each author and found zero Black women authors were discussed. So of course decided not to listen.

Unfollowed (sorry!)
I just can't with the new host's voice. It was forgivable when they were only on every few episode. But not every. single. episode. 🫠 It's like a precocious eight-yr old is recounting the day's headlines (in an annoying way, not an adorable way). I guess I'll go see if The Daily has replaced Michael yet...

Vocal Fry
I love the content, but there is a correspondent (Marianne LeVine) whose reporting I cannot listen to. Her vocal fry is so strong! For audio news reporting, maybe choose another correspondent. I turn to another show everytime she is featured.

Excellent reporting
WP might be owned by a greedy, obedient, self-protecting, free-speech-suppressing imbecile, but the reporters still have integrity.

Vocal fry
I really wanted to listen to the segment on Trump using the war powers act to deport Venezuelans to El Salvador but the guests vocal fry was distracting and made the segment difficult to listen to.
A pool of calm within
Alien Enemies Act episode
I wanted to listen to the full episode, but I couldn’t get past the croaky vocal affectations adopted by the journalist, Ms. Levine. Please consider vocal coaching before stepping onto such a large stage as this. Her *real* voice deserves to be heard.

Drinking game
Count the number of times hosts and contributors repeat filler words as they opine on the week’s news: “like” “you know” “this moment” “Like, this feels like a real moment” “I mean…” “So…” “..kind of” “Basically he said, like,….” “Given the kind of…” “I wonder if there is just, like, a sense that….” It will drive you to drink. I know these WaPo writers know how to use the English language. But when speaking, they often come across as sophomoric. It’s painful.

“Democracy Dies in Darkness” to Trump Sycophant
Jeff Bezos grip on the newsroom comes out even in the WaPo podcasts. The language of the hosts seems tortured at times, as if they’re grasping for words, because they can’t say the truth. I’ve been listening for a long time, and this past month there’s been a notable change. I’ve changed from 4 to 1 stars, unfollowed and canceled my subscription.

No more Bezos
I’ve enjoyed this podcast in recent years, but I’m canceling because of Jeff Bezos’ move to MAGA. He’s ruining what was once a high quality news organization.

Additional Stories
Longtime listener. I liked when they added a section at the end where they covered a few headlines in addition to the main episode story. Seems like they’ve stopped doing that in recent episodes - would love if they brought it back. It provided a fuller picture of the news of the day (I’ve tried listening to The 7 and I don’t like the host). I also feel the topics lately have steered away from the major Trump headlines which is disappointing. I enjoyed the Narcan episode but wonder if that’s really the most pressing issue to dedicate an entire episode to as Trump dismantles the government.

Francke episode completely unbalanced
This reporter only parroted the perspective of the prof who acknowledges an anti-Israel view, and the facts have been slanted. I or others should not trust such an unbalanced reporter, so will take this off my podcast subscriptions.

You lost your integrity
Shame on you for bowing down to Trump’s agenda and not investigating the real news. You’ve sold-out yourself and the American people. How do you sleep at night?

Vocal fry
I want to like this podcast I really do but like many others the vocal fry drives me BSC. I don’t think I can continue to listen to it. I recommend voice coaching lessons.

No offense to Prince Harry
I was disappointed to find that on the day protections for underserved communities were rolled back on a massive scale Post Reports chose to focus attention on the comings and goings of wealthy privileged individuals. I just don’t see how this could be considered relevant news.
J.Starburger
The “Bow Down to Bezos’ Whims” version of the Post continues
This commentary from Dan Balz regarding the inauguration sets an even lower bar for sanewashing Trump. Yep, totally normal for an American president in 2025 to talk openly about renaming the Gulf of Mexico and seizing the Panama Canal. Thank you for making a formerly great newspaper’s descent into corporate stenography so clear. Now I can unsubscribe without any hesitation.

Vocal fry and guest hosts
When picking your guest hosts, please, for the love of whatever deity (or not) you believe in, screen out those with vocal fry. It's so annoying to listen to. Or there are ways to improve vocal delivery and get rid of vocal fry, and I strongly suggest you send Rachel to a coach to get rid of it if you plan to have her continue as a guest host because I for one don't plan to continue listening if vocal fry is on the menu. Nothing against Rachael personally or anyone else with vocal fry, it's just like nails on a chalkboard to listen to. And there are other places I could get my news.

Deep Reads Readers
Generally, I love y’all. I have some similar qualms as other reviewers, but I been with you since the beginning, listening to every episode and intend to continue. But one thing consistently tears me up: those great Deep Reads stories and most of the time they’re voiced by these readers from Noah. If they’re not AI, they sure sound like it. If they are, it shows. Takes me a good 10 minutes to sink past the voice and into the story. It is always, always, always better when the writer reads their own story.

Appreciative but…
Post teoría is great. Keep up the good work. I’m specifically writing to comment on the narrated stories. I really appreciate these stories. The only problem- the narration makes the stories feel less authentic, less connecting. I world much rather have the story read by the authors- their intros never have me desiring that someone else read their story. Their voice feels right. They understand their material. The narration of the story about the driver for prisoners feels to be the wrong tone for the subject matter. I appreciate the effort being made to create an experience with the narration, but i would prefer to hear the authors’ voices. That really connects me to them and their story.
