I love your podcast! It is the right amount of interaction, humor, and the best part is all the science. Several times you have noted combining biology and geology, and that reminds me of my favorite undergrad course: Pleistocene Biogeology taught by a geology professor and a botany professor in the early 1970s. It really spoke to me of the interconnectedness of earth and sparked my career as a naturalist for Ohio State Parks. I look forward to every episode…

One of you acts like a petulant little child when you wanna talk by cutting the other person off, then have the audacity to then condescend them at the same time. Truly remarkable. The best geology podcast that I know of, but I have stopped listening several times after the constant talking over each other.

Really happy to see geology podcasts are out there. We honestly need more of them! So kudos for this existing. I came into this pod via the interview with Shawn Wilsey, who is an extraordinary educator and one of my favorite sources of no-nonsense geology information. From there I started to explore other episodes from Planet Geo, but honestly I cannot handle the delivery of these two guys. The delivery is like two bros discussing football rather than two academics discussing geology. The storytelling is lacking and the interplay between them is off putting. Sorry fellas, this one just isn’t for me.

Now it just feels like weird pro fossil fuel and mining industry propaganda. I know that's kind of where the money making geoscience careers are at, so I get the angle but it kind of blows. I'll check back in again later.

Love the show. Listened to perhaps 3 episodes. Have an MS in oceanography. Did a paleomag thesis on the Columbus River basalt. But that was many years ago. Nice work, gentlemen!

The podcast is very well researched and presented. I could do without the banter, but it's tolerable. For some the information is given too fast, but the beauty of podcasts is that you can parse out episodes bit by bit and take your time while learning the subject matter. Great job!

It gets a bit technical but is still great. I like the banter between the hosts (and their history). When I put a podcast in my library, they have to have good rapport. I know a little of geology but I’m a biologist by career ( I am retired now).

Accessible to everyone yet worthwhile for geology PHDs. Love hearing the pros talk about their work and glad to hear the latest In geoscience

I listened to this podcast in the spring of 2023. I am currently in my 2nd semester of school, with a duel major of environmental geoscience and environmental planning with a minor in hydrology. I give all credit to you guys, your podcast made me fall in love with learning about earth. You all make it so exciting and fun and I learn so much from it. Keep it up! This podcast is great and breaks down geology in an interesting way so that it is easily understandable. Chris and Jesse balance the conversation and explain why the geo science is important while providing the technicalities. Would like a little more girl power, but they do this with many of their guests.

The right amount of geology with a dash of backstory and a pinch of sidebars and tangents. They love what they do and they do what they love. I wish there was a new episode every other day.

This is the only podcast I listen to where I do nothing but listen. There is so much information shared about our geology. Chris and Jesse’s enthusiasm is contagious. Do yourself a favor and check out campGEO. Amazing.

For someone who has little to no appreciation for geology/rock science, I can’t get enough of this podcast. It’s incredible—the young aspiring academic Jesse dropping rock knowledge while the elder rocksman Chris is always there to keep things in perspective. I can’t contain my excitement every time a new episode pings across!

I love this podcast as a geology’s because I relearn some of the basics I’ve forgotten about— and I’ve shared it with friends and family who aren’t trained geologists, which has helped them learn more and we have interesting discussions together from it!

I’ve enjoyed this podcast and refer to it so often in my high school AP environmental science class that I decided to assign one of the podcasts for my students to listen to and discuss. It was awesome! A chance for them to learn and hear from experts in the field who are incredible at explaining geoscience ideas to any level. I highly recommend listening and for any science teachers out there, sharing with your students.

I didn’t end up studying geology in college, but I loved my high school geology class taught by Mr. Bolhuis. These podcasts are a perfect way for me to keep learning and understanding the beauty of our world as I adventure through it. Thanks for sharing your knowledge in a way that anyone can understand!

Chris was pretty instrumental (in a very good way) in shaping my career path/college path out of high school. I still talk about Summer Science Institute to this day! Jesse and I went on the trip summer of 2004. WHOA! Over 16 years ago! Loving the podcast so far. They are obviously good friends with shared experiences that enhance the discussion, but they also come at this topic from two different careers which adds much to the presentation. For a non-geologist, I think this new podcast has broad appeal for everyone, from scientists in other fields to non-scientists alike.
