One of my favorites
Consistently interesting and entertaining. Loved the Content Mines as well. One suggestion based on the recent ads - as someone who listens to both pods, would love if he had the Conspirituality hosts on for a show (or if Ryan went on their show).

So good
The host is charming. The internet brain-rot being investigated in a real way is helpful and entertaining.

Keep it coming!
Entertaining, informative, and very interesting. The pacing is really good. Keeps moving, stays light, and every second is packed with New-to-me references that pique my curiosity. This is one of the most intelligent yet accessible podcasts I’ve listened to. The episodes take all this messy, niche information and create surprising insights about US culture that hit spot on. I am really glad I found this podcast. It is like having a friend to watch the end of the world with.

Must listen
Great, informative but also hilarious work! I feel a little less crazy, a bit more aware and better able to understand people around me with each episode. Didn’t expect quite so many gooning references and I’ll never be the same! Thank you, I think!

Shallow, irritating
Began listening after host appeared on Chapo in a solid ep of that pod - his own just doesn’t land for me. Snarky and annoying and ultimately uninformative guests and decidedly shallow and one sided treatments of interesting topics

Uninformed
The latest episode about AI exhibits a fundamental misunderstanding of the technology behind the modern AI boom. Any writer who would even espouse the idea that chatGPT functions similarly to a search engine can be immediately discredited as not understanding the underlying technology behind LLMs and other generative models. Transformers are glorified autocomplete. There is no semblance of a path towards a “singularity” or “AGI” in the literature and to suggest otherwise is at best foolish and at worst deception. I question any podcast that would post such a poorly researched episode.

Hits the Spot
I’m a millennial who missed the era of the fun internet and wikiholes so this pod just hits the spot in terms of great research, niche guests and pop culture. Viva La Panic World.

Topical, well researched, and funny
Show has been amazing so far. Good depth, solid research, and very important and topical topics. It can be funny, insightful, and thought provoking. The guest are quality and have interesting backgrounds and points of view. Last episode, they like most of the world talked about the generations and left out Gen X. Considering how fundamentally Gen X has changed work culture, shaped modern technology and big tech, and the country economically it's a massive oversight which I thought you'd all do better. Let me know when you plan to rectify this with a Gen X themed episode. With Gen X currently having the largest pot of disposable income, who knows could help your Patreon.

Deranged art
Ryan would always close out by describing the show’s art as incredibly deranged. And yeah, I guess you could think that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Digging it so far!
I’ve been really enjoying the show. I wish Ryan would let the guests do a little more talking, otherwise it’s quite excellent.

More and More Essential
This one is going to attract some haters in the way reasoned and informed conversations seem to do lately. This has been a recent find and I’m grateful it happened when it did. Learn something every time and there’s just enough levity even on the darkest subjects to keep despair from setting in.

Just discovered the show as a result of it being an episode, of Search Engine, thank you PJ Vogt, and really enjoy the content and the give-and-take.

Interesting topics, so-so execution
Interesting topics, but there’s something about the tone of the show that feels so incurious - especially in contrast to other shows like Reply All. I’ve given several episodes a try, including the most recent with Alex Goldman. I don’t understand why the host would choose to have on such an interesting guest and then talk at them the whole time, where Alex’s role is basically to agree with whatever the host says. It ends up feeling like you’re stuck having in a conversation at a party with someone who isn’t interested in learning anything about you.

The TikTok ep
A lot of hand waving and dismissive attitude. Unlike the other deep dives I do not feel like they gave due consideration to the risks. The stance seems to be “since every platform is harvesting our data it then it’s ok.”

Move along
Good premise, poor execution. The reporting on this show is trivial at best and the hosts think they are the smartest people in the room. Kind of embarrassing listening to them with how wrong they are with their information. Gave it a few episodes but I’m out. Not worth my time.

Skip the fender episode.
These beta boys and this probably so called “feminist” girl are BAFFLED that boys are drawn to things boys have liked since the beginning of time and girls are drawn to things they’ve loved since the beginning of time. It’s almost as though that means there’s a difference between girls and boys that outlasts far leftist social pressure!? The far left is the only group of people who struggle to understand why men aren’t more feminine and women aren’t more masculine. Thank God. Because gender plays an important role in a successful society. Stick to discussing something that isn’t a waste of your time. 3 stars for the effort but unless you’re far left, skip it.

I love how much of the internet I don’t know about, that has informed the current tone of our cultural and political discourse. Well researched and presented, thanks and keep up the great work.

Great Premise, Fatuous/Banal Execution
If you like can’t finish a sentence without like saying the word like in like every other sentence, maybe you have like zero ability to speak like extemporaneously and should stay over on the written-word side of promoting your like interesting-sounding-like projects because until you get some actual like practice speaking sentences then you are doing your projects (and like the people you employ?) like an actual disservice.

Great New Podcast You Can’t Miss
I love the content of this podcast! The hosts are laid back and see the humor in the world of the internet. It feels nostalgic and relatable. A great mix of news and gossip. The podcast feels like a timeline of early iternet culture to present day. Adore

Yayyyyy!
I have missed hearing Ryan since Internet Explorer was cancelled. So glad his first episode featured Katie. This show is perfect.

read the book
weird choice to do an episode discussing an author’s pov without having read any of their books. haidt gets a lot wrong but I didn’t expect such a lazy breakdown of his work.

Katie and Ryan are BACK yall!!!
I’ve been parasocially attached to these guys since I was a little middle-schooler, being educated in the ways of Joanne the Scammer, Avril Levine and her clone, Leviticus the Safety Frog, and all things weird on the internet. So glad they’re back, and ready to chow down on some sleepytime chicken whilst listening to their melodic voices!

everyone in the world should subscribe to garbage day - not least because we have to find a way to make ryan busier so he can't keep creating yet more increasingly high-effort versions of it

Big fan of the newsletter, but when work gets busy I can fall behind. Having the audio option makes it easier to ensure I never miss an edition,

Thanks for Reading these Ryan!
I really like garbage day, but have had less time for articles since my job picked up a few months ago. When I saw the latest edition had an audio reading, I instantly went to subscribe to the feed. I know Apple ratings matter too much, so thanks for doing this!
