Still great but music is very annoying
The background music makes it hard to focus. Please stop!

Wait what?
“The piece we are listening to.” “The piece that is currently playing” without killing my ear drums (more than they are) I heard zero Beethoven music in the episode about him. Maybe it’s my hearing, but the speech was audible without turning up the volume and with background noise. Also, the mispronunciations over the years.. ugh. I usually laugh or correct the host like they can hear me 😂😂. And keep to noble blood episodes on the feed. I don’t want to hear another podcast on any feed that I’m not subscribed to.

I subscribed to Noble Blood
And yet we keep getting episodes from the host’s other show. If I thought Very Important Episodes was worth listening to, I’d subscribe. No thank you.

I want to love it…
… but sadly the halting reading, over-enunciation, and frequent mispronunciations are distracting from the interesting histories 😭

So many mispronunciations!
If you’re going to discuss non-English history, then learn how to pronounce things correctly! In one episode alone (The Execution of the Roman Virgin), the host mispronounces Beatrice (the main character), papacy, papal, Angelo, and Holofernes. The last one had two different mispronunciations. Show some respect for the people and places whose stories you are sharing!

Enjoy the show but as of May 2025 it’s unavailable????? What gives
This is an interesting podcast done in a way that’s easy to listen to. Far from dull and dry history, the people come alive while we hear about their lives. (And deaths at times)

Dana ily please!
I love Noble blood and I love its host, Dana. I thought I would love this podcast. I would if it was just her. The guys who are on there with her are obnoxious. I turned it off in five minutes. She should just tell the story like she does and be done with it. Why they added these guys is beyond me. Her storytelling is always so pleasant to listen to. She makes it come alive. Not with them. It’s turned into just another loud obnoxious podcast

A great way to keep learning History
Love this podcast. As adults, we tend to not have time to continue education (at least free education) after we graduate. It’s nice to have a way to gain knowledge during adulthoods’ day-to-day.

Insufferable man hating
I enjoy learning about history, but clearly somebody really hurt this host at some point. She injects so much anti-man sentiment it is insufferable to listen to.

A consistent favorite!
I frequently turn to Noble Blood when I want something engaging but calm— I always learn something new from Dana Schwartz, and I truly appreciate the variety of stories she explores.

Noble Blood: Where History’s Power Plays Come to Life
As a history geek and true crime aficionado, Noble Blood hits the perfect balance between gripping storytelling and well-researched historical intrigue. It doesn’t just recount the lives of royals—it dissects the power struggles, betrayals, and dark secrets that shaped history. Every episode is like stepping into a courtroom where history itself is on trial, exposing how ambition, vengeance, and political maneuvering have always been part of the human experience. What sets Noble Blood apart is its ability to make these centuries-old figures feel alive. The storytelling is sharp, the research is meticulous, and the pacing keeps you hooked from start to finish. Whether it’s an ill-fated queen, a scheming noble, or a royal scandal that rocked an empire, the podcast expertly weaves together historical fact and narrative flair. For anyone who loves history with a side of intrigue—especially those drawn to the darker, more dramatic corners of the past—Noble Blood is an essential listen. It’s history at its most compelling, reminding us that power and crime have always gone hand in hand.

Episode suggestion
Dana! Hi! I was doing my historical research, and I came across an interesting figure in history that merits an episode (in my opinion). Her name is Margaretha von Waldeck, and she was a German countess. people now call her the “real life Snow White" her story is so interesting!!! i would love for an episode to be about her. Thanks!!

Favorite show!
Consistently my number one favorite podcast. Absolutely look forward to her episodes every week. Engaging, informative, and I love her style of storytelling. The only show I’ll listen to episodes twice!

Amazing!!! Captivating
This podcast and Dana are amazing, is a mesmerizing dive into the lives of history’s most powerful and tragic figures. Each episode masterfully unravels tales of royalty, betrayal, and intrigue, offering a fresh perspective on the flawed humanity behind the crowns. Noble Blood transforms historical anecdotes into gripping, timeless stories that linger long after listening. Perfect for history buffs and casual listeners, this podcast is a must-hear. They should turn this into a tv series. Bravo Dana and production amazing job 👏👏👏

Adore this show
This show is so enjoyable to listen to; calming yet interesting. I’ve learned so much. I love that Dana doesn’t do the girl-bossification of people she covers. I also thoroughly appreciate how she explores history through an objective lens.

A beloved podcast

Disregard the poor reviews - This podcast is AMAZING
I’ve read through the poor reviews and it seems everyone’s biggest complaint is Dana’s mispronunciation of names and places. Really? Dana is continuously apologizing for her mispronunciations. She KNOWS it’s her weakness. The important thing is that she’s getting people interested in historical events (not always an easy thing to do) and holding their attention while simultaneously educating them. This podcast is AMAZING and the research is really well done. 👏👏👏

Come for the history, stay for the storytelling
I’ve listened for years, but as a serial lurker I’ve never left a review. The excellent inclusion of horse puns in the most recent episode finally corralled me into leaving a review. I’ve always enjoyed history, Dana’s storytelling makes it a pure joy to listen.

Disappointed
I’ve listened to this podcast since its inception several years ago and always really enjoyed it. I’ve also bought, read, and recommended Dana’s books. She does an incredible job of examining sources, presenting multiple perspectives of historical stories, and narrating them as entertaining anecdotes- no easy task, for sure. However, this most recent episode regarding Elagabalus is just ludicrous. Acknowledging the issue with the sources surrounding Elagabalus’ “gender identity” and then still choosing to refer to him with feminine pronouns is just wild. Shall we call Caligula a deity then? And Incitatus a consul? Since that is how identified themselves, according to Suetonius. Also, the mispronunciation of Macrinus (mack-REE-nuhs) is so distracting and exposes a surface level depth of research into the topic. Dana’s done such a lovely job with medieval and Renaissance histories, and many other time periods and places, but please consult a Classicist before another venture into antiquity.

Who are these guys?
I’ve loved the podcast—and Dana as a host—for years, but this most recent episode about the Three Kitchis ending with dull bro banter followed by corny guitar jams on the credits sure was an unpleasant surprise. I hope this Very Special Episode crossover or whatever it was isn’t going to be a regular thing.

My favorite part of the week
I’ve been listening to this podcast for the last three years and I can honestly say the only thing I don’t like about about this podcast is the lack of episodes. I wish there were more. I even make my husband listen with me sometimes. Every episode I listen to when it’s just Diana. Makes me feel like I’m in a historical gossip session

Wow!
Really impressed with this podcast! I’ve never been a history person, but I had a teacher recommend it to me, and I binged the first 50 episodes in a month and a half! Please don’t let the negativity stop you from continuing Noble Blood! I love it!

Issues that make me question the host’s knowledge
Dana is a writer, not a historian, and a lot of the text is in Wikipedia, word for word. The production quality is lacking for a Grim and Mild production. In one episode, she mispronounces Moilere, calling him “Moly-air-E”. Two episodes later, she uses the word “malingering” to mean loitering. Malingering means faking sick to get out of work. How did no one involved in this show not know these things? Interesting stories, but I take the information provided with a lot of skepticism.

Hatred of conservatives
I was a listener of this show from the beginning. Sadly, I can no longer listen to the blatant discrimination of conservatives. Dana has injected her opinion many times throughout this show, but over the last year it’s gotten to the extreme. Megan Markel is referenced as a victim many times throughout several episodes and it’s quite frustrating to see. That woman is not a victim. Her and Harry are money hungry cry babies. They have never been victimized unless you count from themselves. Also why do you hate men all of a sudden? I just don’t understand because this podcast used to be so amazing. I’m disappointed that I have to write this review.

Love this pod!
But the recent guest host for the Gloria Vanderbilt episode had an awful voice. I had to turn it off and google the story. Sounded like a valley girl. Otherwise zero notes on this cast!

Very Eurocentric
Well researched. My big complaint, is she spends way more time on the English than literally any other country. I understand Schwartz may not be comfortable with other countries or she may feel others are more qualified, but she could pull in specialists to discuss other countries she’s not comfortable with.

Excellent research, excellent writing, excellent presentation
This show is so consistently well written and fascinating, just remarkable. Kudos to Dana Schwartz; I always enjoy hearing her present these interesting and often forgotten stories of historical figures full of human detail and a historian’s eye for well-sourced research.

Little things
For the most part, I enjoy listening. Little (and not so little) things have added up, though. I just listened to the barbarian kings episode, and Dana pronounced Ravenna at least three different ways. Pointing out mispronunciations might seem like nitpicking, but repeated errors (especially easily avoided ones) take me out of the story. Add that to some glaring factual inaccuracies (ahem, Spanish king, ahem) and I’ve almost vowed to stop listening. History is important and Dana and her team pick great stories. It’d just be nice to feel like they took a bit more care with accuracy and clarity (Google how to pronounce “papacy,” for example).
