I wish Democrats would think carefully about the cycle of constant criticism. When both Republicans and Democrats attack Democrats, it drives down public approval. Then, those low polling numbers are used as proof that Democrats are failing. It’s a self-reinforcing loop. It’s so frustrating because actual policy record tells a different story. Under Democrats, the USA expanded healthcare, reduced deficits, pursued fairer taxes, avoided damaging tariffs, and proposed investment in building 1 million affordable homes. These are policies that advanced nations implement to strengthen the middle class. Yet voters are persuaded by the media environment, filled with distortion and outrage, to support policies that undermine their own security. We’re living through the consequences of decades of Republican trickle-down economics. Constructive criticism is healthy, but not now! We are not weak, the GOP is weak, and they show it every day! The constant public self-denigration of Democrats, who rely on economists, scientists, and policy experts to govern responsibly is counterproductive. Even The Economist described the US economy under Biden in 2024 as the strongest in the world. That deserves acknowledgment, daily. We must stop confusing people. Criticism requires perspective. Republicans are pushing expensive war, weakening healthcare, cutting public service jobs, taxing unfairly, and tariffing people already struggling. Which party is a danger to the American people! The stakes are too high to allow people to be confused that both parties are problematic. It’s just not true.

Brian consistently asks meaningful questions of guests who know what they’re talking about, and their conversations are informative and substantive.

Are you going to run for a government position BTC? You would be such an asset to whichever position you chose to run for. Just thought I’d ask. 💙

This guy is absolutely great at getting right to the point in any interview I have seen him in. Not only does he speak his mind, but he also makes the most of what we would want to scream at some of the people he has to sit with and tolerate their insane takes on this administration. He gets his point across so well that it looks like a switch has been flipped in their heads, and they actually think, “This guy might be right.” BTC, keep your voice loud and this fine quality of production. Definitely my favorite political podcast!

I would like to tell Jessica that one of the things the right doesn’t do is constantly criticize themselves. They’re always telling us how wonderful and great they are. We as Democrats might do well to think about adopting the GOP‘s formula. It’s also discouraging to hear you bashing the older Democrats.

I've been listening to your podcast since before you blew up. I'm happy for you and do still listen. I've noticed a stark absence of women and especially women of color. I hope you don't turn into the bro caste podcast that we see poisoning good journalism.

This was my favorite political commentator, until I noticed how Brian, who claims to “cover all breaking political stories” as an “independent journalist,” never says a word about the most explosive, morally urgent political story of our time: the U.S. backed genocide in Gaza 🤔

BTC’s crew doesn’t do the work to bring this to us. Too bad though because we need more than outrage and word salad to nourish our hopes and faith. I dare them to investigate what we should have vice what we are stuck with.

He picks certain topics to talk about and once something happens to make Trump look good in that area he just doesn’t talk about it anymore, example, the stock market. When Trump put the tariffs in place and the stock market went down,it was all he talked about, but now that the stock market is up he ignores it.

Overall good content, but the audio levels being so far off between the host and the guest drive me absolutely insane. The show needs some leveling done to the audio and some compression added to level it out so it’s easier to understand in here while driving.
