I feel like this podcast used to be fascinating and include intellectual conversations but now it’s taken over by two guys that act and sound like a couple of bro’s with bro fart humor. I’m not sure who they think their core demographic is but it’s not 13-17 year old boys. Sad, this used to be one of my favorite podcasts.

This podcast is well past it expiration date. Time to move along to something else.

I’m a longtime plus subscriber and fan of MU. By far my favorite podcast of all time. Unfortunately, not anymore. Can’t listen to these guys. Inescapable is OK, but really sad that we lost the best podcast out there.

I’m not new to the show by any means. I’ve been a listener since around season 3 or 4. What originally made me stick around was the wit and the deep dive into paranormal, supernatural, and strange topics that were not just the same recycled mainstream cases. Aaron and Ben had great chemistry and brought an intelligent, well rounded, and largely unbiased perspective drawn from books and lesser known sources. It was refreshing and honestly it is what set them apart from 99 percent of the fluff in this genre. Now that they have left and been replaced by Brandon and Joe, the show has unfortunately shifted in a very different direction. It has become what I would call pop paranormal, a much safer and more cookie cutter version of what it used to be. The topics often feel recycled and the discussions come across more like summaries of other people’s takes rather than original or thoughtful analysis. The tone has also taken a hit. The excessive cussing and lack of polish make the show feel unprofessional and stripped of the charm it once had. More importantly, there seems to be a noticeable gap in depth and understanding. At times it feels like key points are missed entirely, as if the material is not being fully grasped or explored. Of course no one can know everything about these topics, but the issue is that even foundational aspects are often overlooked, leaving much of the material going right over their heads. It ends up feeling like they have only just started researching these topics, if they have at all. From what they have said themselves, it also gives the impression that the show is being put together with minimal effort, more like something assembled last minute rather than carefully researched and crafted. It almost comes across as if, now that this is their full time job, there is less urgency to prepare and more time spent coasting through the week. The result is content that often feels uninspired and surface level. For example, a recent episode spent roughly 45 minutes on unicorns and it came across more like a basic YouTube facts video than a deep or engaging discussion. It is a clear example of how far the show has drifted from what it once was. Aaron and Ben used to choose topics that challenged the listener, things that made you think, question, and sometimes even feel a sense of wonder or unease. That depth is largely missing now. I genuinely hope Brandon and Joe take feedback like this into consideration. No one expects them to be Aaron and Ben, but there is an expectation to carry forward the spirit of what made the show stand out, going beyond surface level content, putting in the research, and bringing something meaningful to the table. For these reasons I can no longer recommend the current version of the show. However, I do highly recommend the older episodes with Aaron and Ben. If you can afford it, they are available on the MU website. For those looking for lesser known paranormal and supernatural cases, especially if you do not mind lower production value, I would recommend Beyond Creepy on YouTube.

A dozen shows in and it still hasn’t gotten better. This version of MU is nothing at all like the original and the new hosts somehow seem to be getting dumber and more annoying with each episode. I am reminded of high school kids attempting their first podcast in a/v class. Not a single episode has made me want to subscribe to the plus section, no substance. I gave it a shot but, I have to say,MU for me is dead.

Since the Aussies left it’s just a couple of guys that sound like they just learned about cuss words.

The show was going downhill the past couple years, but became irredeemably terrible when the new hosts arrived. I think I’d rather have Chat read me stories about Bigfoot.

I like how positive and supportive you are of each other. There are regular earnest compliments and good natured observations. Keep it up!

My husband and I were huge MU fans and plus listeners for well over a decade. I completely understand Ben & Aaron’s decision to leave the show, but I cannot get on board with the new hosts. I did give them a chance, but the constant swearing (yes, it really is that bad and just sounds ignorant at this level), immaturity, and lack of depth and knowledge on their stories is sorely disappointing. Maybe someday they’ll improve, but that day is not today.

Been listening to Da Boyz from down under for 15+ years. These new guys I hope will mature… just not sure I’ll have the patience to wait for it to happen. They need to acknowledge the target demographic and drop the Pot, Butt humor, adolescent language or more listeners will jump ship! I love the stories but could do without the college radio station vibe. Good luck to them as they have HUGE shoes to fill! Mahalo

These guys suck. I used to subscribe to plus. I’ll listen to the guys new show when it comes out. I think Benjamin and Aaron underestimated how big a part of the show their personalities were. I care way less about the content than I do about an just enjoyable episode.

Actual translation of demon in scripture is that which pounces on and devours. I think your theory of say children who are molested “checking out” or those on drugs is a good example. The body is available. Ben and Aaron kept language clean over 16 years I’ve listened and it will level you up. You seem to have good Christian teaching and someday you will circle back to your roots in a brave new POV, because God’s mystery is way out of the box. But He sends us love. Thanks for supporting the mysterious!

The new show is good, I like the guys, they have good chemistry, and I’m sure they’ll get even better as they as they continue. Big shoes to fill and they’re doing a good job and their topics are fun and on point. Some are complaining about their comments about Christianity. Confusing - If you believe your religion is “the one true religion” it seems like you’d be fine with someone who doubts or questions it. Facts easily stand up to questioning, right?

I tried to give the new hosts some time, but excessive vulgar language just makes them sound unintelligent. Grundy said they were open to honest feedback back and there it is.

The sharp anti Christian turn is astounding. The new guys are arrogant, pretentious, but their talent is seriously lacking. I am unsubscribing. Good bye

I was so sad to hear of Ben and Aaron moving on from MU. I absolutely loved their vibe together, and change can be hard when something feels familiar and comforting. I have to admit, though, I’m really enjoying the new host. I was nervous at first, but their connection, perspective, and thoughtful approach have completely won me over. It feels fresh while still honoring what made this podcast special in the first place. I’m genuinely excited to keep listening. I look forward to this new era 🩷

Give it a try. These young men are good at what they do. It’s nice for me in the states to hear their perspective on these topics!

I think the second guy is too full of mocking everything way too political. Joe sounds good.

Loved mysterious before the host transitioned. One of the hosts is like a pessimistic Ryan Seacrest and the other is super chill. I can’t stand listening to pessimistic Ryan “try” to be cool and pontificate. Prior hosts were matter of fact and sometimes interjected with their views and opinions. P Ryan just goes on and on about his religious views and how God is a meany man who makes no sense. You can tell P Ryan’s dad wasn’t there for him as a child. Anyways I’m still subscribed so I can see if the new podcast is worth it and because the other guy keeps it level. Word of advice to p Ryan stop being “bothered” so much and just spit the story facts. You know? What was said. Or maybe find other tangents :).

Missing Ben and Aaron! After more than 10 years as a Plus subscriber, I’ve tried to give Joe and Brandon a chance taking over the show, but I’ve met my limits. Too cynical, too many “expert” statements only highlight their ignorance. Looking forward to Ben and Aaron’s new show, but I’m tapping out of MU after more than 10 enjoyable and entertaining years. Good for Ben and Aaron on their new chapter but sucks for the rest of us. New hosts are definitely a downgrade (not their fault). I’m sure they’ll be great after 20+ years.

Used to be one of my favorite shows, had to cancel my plus subscription, tried to give the new guys a chance, but they are so immature, and dull, with constant vulgarity. They act like teenagers, and sound like they are reading verbatim from a script, not telling a story the way Ben and Aaron could. So sad to see one of my favorites die

I was concerned about getting new hosts for a podcast that I loved, but these guys have great banter and tell interesting stories in a humorous way. Bravo! I am living the change so far.

The old guys were sort of racist and Aaron wasn’t very smart, but at least they were never boring.

I really enjoy this podcast. Well researched and put together. Always a good listen on long rides. Which I take a lot of. Edit to add: the new hosts (at least one of them) curses too much taking away a lot from the stories. It isn’t necessary.

MU was one of my favorite podcasts but Ben seems to have dropped the ball in vetting the new hosts. Brother-dude Brandon is a major annoyance, defaulting to spouting rapid-fire new age “manifesting” nonsense in between all the shout-outs to his buddies. The other guy, Joe, is less annoying, but not also very good. Both seem under-educated and fairly ignorant, and not particularly interested in the facts and details of the material they’re covering. MU needs to start over and find two new hosts worthy of its audience.

Two random immature American guys off the street doing amateur hour recording like its 2am in their basement. Wow, way to go Ben+ Aaron. Its so so so bad. Cancelled my subscription. I would cancel 5x more if I could.

They have nice enough voices, but not really interested in hearing about drugs or that I should just do what I want. I don’t remember that being part of the first. 20 years could be wrong. Also, I think Ben and Aaron used the F word only for flavor not for punctuation.

New hosts can’t do it, why on earth would you guys quit. Bummer man.

Go listen to Where Did the Road Go or Brothers of the Serpent instead. I used to be a huge fan, even subscribed for a while. MU isn’t about high strangeness anymore. It’s about laughing at crazies and going on ultra conservative rants (using spirituality when it suits them). I’ll give it one more shot with the new hosts, but I’m not hopeful. I’m just a woman though so what do I know. Maybe one day I’ll learn to shut up and listen to the men speak. Dirtbags

In case you’re wondering. When your show is leaning on third party references to conversations between Alex Jones & Tucker. Carlson, you’re well out of the realm of entertainment or suspension of disbelief and you probably need to reassess a few things. I’ll be eager to hear the new team. Aaron & Ben are well over tbe garden wall.

This is an old review I am adding to, replace “Dominion” with “Stewardship”, we are to care for the earth and elements, “Dominion”was misinterpretation or “male”interpretation — enough with the histrionics, you get what you give, you know this. At the time the scientists wondered how they could get people to offer up samples of their colon. Consequently there was a big media push for colonoscopies just after this revelation, but they never came right out and said that’s what was going on.

I’ve been listening to this podcast since 2005. Hilarious, Spooky, everything. I love this podcast.

Some episodes are interesting, some are boring, some have insane (you need help) takes. It seems their goal is to get you to pay for their premium subscription. I have listened to some podcasts where they have left off the conclusion of the story saying you gotta pay to know the ending. Good luck getting people to pay with tactics like that. I used to love them but the 2020 event broke their brains and they went alt-right/paranoid, pushing crazy conspiracy theories that they seem to actually believed. Something happens to all paranormal podcasters, they seem to lose it after a while. And yes, it’s basically auditory junk food, I know it’s not good for me but I still want it.

I’ve only checked out two episodes so far, but they’ve been quite good. No blaring or thumping music, over-the-top exclamations, or endless ads for garbage products. Looking forward to more entertaining and engaging content!

Going on nearly 15 years listening. Ignore the haters/trolls. My guess they’re trying to bring down the rating or algorithm.

I don’t know when it happened, probably Covid, but at some point they became super xenophobic and bought into all the conspiracy theories they used to make fun of. A real bummer for a show I used to love.

I was a long time follower of the show until they became too political in their comments and political tangents. This Alex Jones? anti-VAX, pro Trump pro right wing pro America bent, has no place in Fortean studies, IMO.

I have followed the show for years, even through the COVID and mask bashing comments. But I can’t accept commentary from liar and instigator Alex jones. Normally I would just sign off and move on, but Alex Jones is especially despicable and I am so disappointed.
