Used to religiously listen twice a week, now never again. To Bill’s point, yes the average Saudi Arabian citizens who went to your show are just like you and me. The people who paid Bill and for the festival are a different story. They are trying to white wash the atrocities they financed and committed by paying people like Bill perform in sanitized settings and come back to rave about the regime.

The usual you either die a comedic legend or live long enough to be whatever this guy turned into.

I have loved and listened to Bill for close to 20 years. There have always been things I disagreed with him about, but he was brilliantly funny and principled so it didn’t matter. I would have even forgiven the hypocrisy of taking the Saudi money, but the way he has handled it afterword is what finally led me to say goodbye. He yelled at all of his fans and our honest criticism, calling it fake outrage instead of taking even a moment to look inward. Many of his fans would have stuck around if he could have taken any accountability. Instead, this is the Saudi hill he has decided to die on, and it may be a long time before his career recovers. Sadly, I am unsubscribing.

I like Bill’s standup and think the podcast is fairly entertaining especially for some background during work. He can rant a bit but I think his willingness to hear out other people and listeners makes the show interesting. It’s also fun to listen to the Thursday episodes in full because they’re almost a little time capsule of past events and can be a reminder of how much has or hasn’t changed in the last ten years. I wish he would ignore the hate for the shows in the Middle East, it would be interesting to hear a first hand account of if there was censorship and to what degree. People review bombing this show saying he’s a shill are a little goofy since they’re blindly following Shane Gillis’s opinion and spouting it as their own, are shilling for free. Love the F1, sports talk, and dad stuff!
