The San Francisco Giants take the series against the Washington Nationals and finish the road trip 4-5, sitting at 9-13 overall — but the bigger question is what it actually means. The Giants continue to feel like a team stuck in the middle: winning some series, dropping others, and hovering around that .500 ceiling without fully breaking through. Robbie Ray was solid enough, but the offense once again couldn’t do quite enough in key spots.
We zoom out and look at the bigger picture through 22 games (over 13% of the season): what trends are real, what’s noise, and where this team is actually headed. Plus, a look at early fan-driven trade ideas involving Casey Schmitt, the ongoing questions around Rafael Devers, and whether this roster has the pieces to go on one of those extended “runs” every contender needs. The Giants have shown flashes — now it’s about whether they can sustain it.
