I love this show! Every story is well-researched and delicately presented to inspire listeners to live less ordinarily. The writers and presenters creatively ask questions to move the story forward and keep us engaged authentically. I’m a big fan. Big thank you to the production team for the weekly inspiration!

REALLY disliked how the interviewer wouldn’t accept the guest’s answers for simply what they were and, insisted on feeding him his own generalizations & opinions of him and this event. “Would you say” “is it safe to say” this was extremely annoying, like please shut up. I couldn’t bare to listen to the full episode. Did not like the interviewer at all.

I’m so glad I found this podcast. The episodes are very well done. The stories are inspirational and fascinating.

The thing I love about this podcast is how the stories go from someone robbing banks weekly to another person being on a hijacked boat. It really does encompass a lot of different and even historical moments. There are times where the stories or the folks being interviewed are dull but great podcast overall.

As sad as I was to see the Outlook podcast go, I was happy to have this as a weekly replacement. I tune in every week and got a few book recs from the episodes! Stories are where it’s at

This podcast is always interesting, but the story about Reggie who asked strangers how they became rich is particularly heartwarming. It is a welcome break from the war and disaster that usually dominates the news.

I’m so glad I can across this podcast! I’m completely hooked! Everyone’s stories are so interesting and shed light on how you never really know what someone has gone through. Recommend it to everyone!

I love this show so much. I don’t know where they find these extraordinary people with such harrowing, unique or gripping life stories. Even those whose titles I find a bit tepid are still great! This show always exceeds my expectations. Keep going. I look forward to hearing from you every week.

My favorite podcast by far

I go thru phases of podcasts, but always come back to this one. The stories and the way they are told is beyond compare. They are happy, dark, funny, and full of life. Always coming back to being human and inspiring in the end. You won’t be disappointed.

The stories of human lives, both challenged and challenging, and how they go through seemingly insurmountable changes to stages of transformation and redemption that are found in this series are just astounding. I listen to them with awe, gratitude and hope. They help me with perspective regarding my own life. I highly highly recommend this podcast.

I’ve been a listener to your podcast and have always found it engaging. It was nice to hear your recent conversation with Costello. In my mind, she and her parents paid a very heavy price for bringing democracy to Nigeria. I remember listening to her speak after the assassination of her mother and the death in mysterious circumstances of her father. However, I’m simply incredulous as to why she chose to support Yahya Bello in my home state of Kogi. The fact that she’s still defending that choice on BBC shows that Costello has become seriously alienated from the reality in Nigeria. Bello has been a disaster as governor and the youth and women empowerment of which Costello spoke, is a complete fantasy

Every story starts slowly and grows to powerful moments.

Compelling, engrossing, and completely human.

I guess this is listenable for people. I can’t imagine having the luxury of seeking out traumatic stories on the regular. I find it very stress-inducing. Just my personal experience. Would prefer something more balanced.

Moving, thought provoking, wonderful podcast

Truly griping and thought provoking stories. Allows us to take a look into perspective and lives we normally wouldn’t be able to experience. Would recommend to anyone. Great podcast!

BBC does it again! Incredible quality and fascinating stories. I can’t wait for more.

I have enjoyed all episodes except this one…..sensationalizing this criminal both in the teaser ad and in the episode itself was just ridiculous. He’s just a drug- taking criminal with mental health issues ….. not something to be celebrated in society .. and the interviewer seemed so “ taken” with the idiot too. Very disappointing .

But their first episode with Tom Justice I couldn’t get through

I absolutely love this show. I listen to a lot of podcasts, and usually have the radio on at home in the background (often tuned to BBC.) Outlook is a wonderful show for so many reasons: it is intimate, and worldly; it deals with heavy issues, such as death, heartbreak, sexuality, parenting, while often mainaining a sense of humor and optimism. The interviewers, two women, are superb. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Stopping a busy Saturday morning to leave a huge appreciation for this story- it is one of the dearest and most relatable stories I’ve ever heard. Thank you BBC, and God bless lucky Kevin’s adopted parents. This is the way the world should work. Love is love!!!

One of my all-time favorite podcasts!!

It seems that producers are obsessed with stories about black peoples only, so listening got a bit redundant.

I don’t care for touchy-feely “pour your heart out” story shows like The Moth, Snap Judgment, etc. But this? This rules. Every episode is an interesting, unpretentious personal story. It’s classy and efficiently told, with the the interviewer stepping in to provide extra context only when needed. Sometimes there’s music and ambient sound effects or relevant archival audio. A great many of the stories have a historical, scientific, social, or political aspect that makes them even more interesting. A truly must-listen podcast.

Listening to other people’s struggles through life gives me hope about my own life. It makes me look at what I might be going through weak compared to what others have gone through.

I’m starting to see a little light in that word called “Hope “ . It’s hard to express how this podcast has affected my metal “ Outlook “! Please pardon the pun! Thanks

The story of the man behind the Make A Wish Foundation is AMAZING. And the podcast is full of other extraordinary stories, some inspirational, some disturbing but all very interesting.

Great podcast.

I recently discovered this program because my local community radio broadcasts it. I’ve become a regular listener during my commute to work. It’s such a nice ride now because of the great stories covered. Listen to the news is important but listening to most of these stories is life changing and invigorating. Keep up the great work and thanks!

Wherever I wander in the podcast universe, I find that I come back to Outlook, again and again. The voices of the interviewees shine through - the interviewers are skilled at stepping back and guiding the interviewees to tell their stories without imposing their own preconceptions. A gem.

Outlook is hands down the best podcast. Why? 1. The listener is exposed to different perspectives and situations that are incredible, heart wrenching and oftentimes just lovely; 2. The hosts (Jo and Matthew) are expert at getting the subjects to share their stories in engaging ways, which makes their stories that more listenable and relatable - it’s a real skill; 3. The show highlights how extraordinary everyday people and experiences can be. I listen faithfully EVERY day. Please listen!

A wonderful program with a wide-ranging and seemingly infinite topic variety!

These stories are varied and very interesting. The interviews are very well done and the length is perfect.

I listen to a lot of news and current event podcasts, which I dearly love, but sometimes it can get a little disheartening. Outlook never fails to bring my spirits up with their great stories from all around the world. Thank you outlook!

I loved the older format. I could be entertained, uplifted and educated with this program. I would listen while traveling or if I wanted something novel. However this newer format just gives small samples. I still enjoy the stories but the longer episodes were brilliant with a variety of topics discussed in one podcast, I did not want to turn it off. My older son also loved this podcast. Please BBC bring back the full episodes.

This used to be my favorite podcast when the podcast was the whole BBC Outlook Episode that was played on the radio. I recommended it to all of my friends. I have been an avid listener for 3 years, recently they have changed the podcast to "The Best of Outlook" and the full length radio segments are no longer available as a podcast. I am sad to have lost this. It is not the same listening experience without the whole show. If the old format is brought back I would change my rating to 5 stars!

This is a stellar interview program. And Matthew Bannister is quite simply the best there is at what he does. As a cynical old newsman myself, I can say that Mr. Bannister informs his listeners as well as entertaining them and treating them with the same dignity he affords his guests. What a man! What a professional! Thank you, sir.

Much of the stories are moving and inspirational. Great job by the outlook team!
