These guys are great!
These two have a great chemistry as they talk about the goings on in the comic industry. Definitely worth a listen!

Top-flight comics podcast!
I could spend hours listening to Paul and Al go on about comics, and have. Interesting insights, invaluable knowledge, and mostly-polite criticisms—they’re not afraid to scrape their knuckles—can be found in each entertaining episode. What they say always comes from a place of knowing. Respect. My only gripe is the wait for more.

I love these guys!
Been listening for about 5 years and am currently working my way through a second listen. Informative, witty, and honest—this is one of my favorite podcasts of any genre. I only wish they did more of them! Grab a drink and a thesaurus and enjoy.

The grandfather of comics podcasts
I have enjoyed listening to House to Astonish for many years. I started listening when I knew nothing about comics and I would enjoy the jokes and otherwise let the accents of the "Scottish pterodactyls" [Ur-Quon Masters reference] wash over me. As I've become more knowledgable it's become even funnier as well as conveying more and more meaning to me. So many of my favorite podcasts were directly or indirectly inspired by this one!

My Favorite Podcast
I once said this was among my favorite podcasts, and as time has passed it is now simply my favorite. It is awesome! The guys are hilarious, insightful, and I just wish more shows happened more often! If you love comics listen to this podcast, you'll be pleased!

High Quality Laughs and Comics
I'm not a regular superhero reader anymore, but I like to know what's going on in the world of superhero comics. This podcast keeps me very up to date with a lot of laughs. The humor is always very witty and funny and doesn't take in-depth superhero knowledge to follow. The Marvel Handbook section is my favorite as the guys really pull out some obscure characters and have a good laugh. Highest possible recommendation.

Best comics podcast. Period.
Thoughtful and often hilarious discussion of comics (both mainstream and indie). These guys talk about comics at a higher level than anyone else I've found on a podcast. I'll listen to their reviews of comics I've never heard of or (thought I) cared about, because the criticism is that good. And I've gotten some great recommendations in the process. Also, this is very new reader friendly. Well done, sirs.

Ring Them Citadels
One of my favorite comics podcasts.
House to Astonish is a fun, classy and THOROUGH comics podcast. Al and Paul do a their podcast in three parts, and each part is great. There news coverage is extensive and filled with opinions and insights which I always feel good for having heard. There comics reviews really get me interested in trying out the comics they like, which is pretty rare for me and reviews. They really manage to talk a lot about what the comics are like and usually make the sorts of comparisons that really allow me to find my way into why I might want to read a comic. Then they end each session with a fun little nonsense feature called The Official Handbook of the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe. Its pretty fun, some of them are a little weak, but most of them are total hoots, When I first discovered this cast, I think i listened to their entire backlog over the course of a week and a half, I couldnt stop. I do wish the cast came out a bit more regularly, but whenever an ep comes out its an absolute treat

My only complaint ...
... is that it doesn't come out more often. I listen to HTA immediately whenever it appears in my feed. Al and Paul have a good chemistry, and I enjoy their takes on current comics news. And of course, The Official Handbook to the Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe is a highlight. An essential comics podcast.

Excellent Coverage of a Variety of Comics
If you're not listening to this podcast, you're missing some insightful commentary, solid reviews, and hilarious interplay between two hosts who really know their comics. Al and Paul don't restrict themselves to a single character, title, or even genre, and their "Official Handbook to the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe" never fails to make me laugh.

One of my faves
This is my favorite general comics podcast. I wish it would update on a more regular schedule, but I understand that real life can get in the way.

Favorite podcast
I spent an uncomfortable amount of time listening over the entire back catalog. Well worth it.

You Had Me at the Cardigan of Destiny
Listening to these guys is like chatting to my friends when I’m at a convention. You get the real lowdown of what’s going on, and from folks who know their stuff. And they aren’t afraid of the lunacy around all of it. Keep it up guys, and hope to have a beer with you in the future.

Best Comics Podcast
Easily my favorite comic book podcast. Al and Paul are funny, insightful, and I find I share their tastes in comics. While not as regular as it used to be (life happens, we understand), it's still a great feeling every time I find a new episode in my podcast app. If you like reading comics, you should be subscribing to this pod.

Informed and Humorous
My favorite comics podcast. I hope they review the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl every episode, because listening to Paul pronounce “squirrel” with his Scottish accent is maybe the greatest thing in the world. Subscribe yo!

Always enjoyable
This podcast is always enjoyable and fun. They recently took a hiatus, but it looks like they're back. One of my favorite comics podcasts for the last several years.

The best comic podcast on iTunes. Period. Would love for it to go weekly.

Absolutely great podcast
I listen every fortnight and even went back to listen to all the old episodes. Come for the funny accents, stay for the incisive comics commentary, learn a little bit about the forlorn and forgotten characters of Marvel's past.

Intelligent yet irreverent
The trouble with podcasts about comicbooks is that they usually trend toward fanboys who still think Batman vs. Spider-Man qualifies as good, lively comicbook conversation fodder. If that's what you want to hear there's nothing wrong with that, but I just prefer more talk about the industry as a business model and the work the artists are doing which the hosts here cover with perceptive insight and humor. They treat comicbooks with just the right amounts of respect and irreverence being a medium capable of great artistic achievement but not really trying that hard most of the time. In their reviews there is always a nice mix of new, independent titles and one or two superhero books from the two big houses. Not being able to read as many comics as I would like later in my life, it's nice to hear every other week about some new book, writer or artist and get caught up on industry news. This is definitely one of my must have podcasts right up there with This American Life.

What I want in my Comic Book Podcast
Honest reviews and witty banter. No obnoxious morning radio hitch. These guys have the knowledge of the comic culture that helps me sort through the junk and find comics that would normally be off my radar. Brilliant!!

My very favorite podcast
It is always a great joy to see a new episode of House to Astonish come along. I come and go from other podcasts but have been with HtA since episode one and have absolutely loved every minute of it. Brilliant hilarious work from an incredible duo.

Hilarious and informative
I just started listening to this podcast and I love it. It has the perfect blend of entertainment and information. My favorite part is at the end of the podcast when they discuss a ridiculous character from the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe.
Spider-dork
One of my favorites
I've tried out a number of comics podcasts and honestly can't stand a lot of them; too often the views and personalities are all too close to the stereotype of what you'd expect from guys taking the time out of their lives to record a show about comics. House to Astonish is one of the three keepers I've found (along with Awesomed By Comics and War Rocket Ajax). Thoughtful reviews, intelligent roundups of the news and two smart guys with worthwhile thoughts--as well as senses of humor--on the art and the industry.

My favorite comics podcast
House to Astonish is a great show. Al and Paul are funny, knowledgeable, and quite congenial. And the accents! The show had a tight structure, so the pacing never flags. Wish it was weekly!

The reason I listen to podcasts
I've followed Paul from his various blogs for years, and have listened to every episode of House to Astonish. It is the best comics podcast on the internet. He and Al are very, very knowledgable about comics, and frankly, their recommendations and reviews are why I got back in to actually reading physical comics. Their reviews are FANTASTIC and incredibly in depth. If you like comics, do yourself a favor and give this a listen.

Great Podcast
This is a very entertaining podcast. Paul has been giving intelligent internet commentary on comics since the mid 90's and Al is right there in the same style. They keep me informed of comics news when I can't bother to keep myself informed, and give great suggestions. They never complain about comics just to show you how cool they are. They don't give in to digressions about thier personal life and inside jokes. It's witty, clever commentary from two guys who really enjoy comics. My favorite podcast, no question.

One of the worlds greatest podcasts
The only flaw is that it does not come out often enough. But I suppose you can't complain to much about that. They are funny and insightful, a deadly combination.

Great fun for comics fans
This podcast is a great way to catch up on the comics news of the last few weeks, for those of us who don't scour every website out there on a daily basis. They cut through the BS and PR doublespeak and give you an honest account of recent goings-on. Their reviews are a nice mix of mainstream and indie and have exposed me to many great comics that I would never have paid attention to otherwise. Al and Paul are hilarious but down to earth regular guys with funny accents. If you're a comics fan, you should definitely check them out.

The only comics podcast you need!
Knowledgable, funny, insightful...pretty much everything you could want in a comics podcast, from two Scottish guys who clearly love comics and know what they're talking about. The only things I dislike about the show are that it's only biweekly, and Paul and Al's Scottish accents don't sound hilariously over-the-top, like they were written by Chris Claremont.
Jeremy Hates You
Quick, informative, entertaining
Al and Paul present a quick, insightful, and incredibly snarky bi-weekly review of the state of the comic book industry. They never ramble, covering recent comics news and reviews, and in each episode they unearth some long-forgotten ridiculous character to put their own amusing spin on. They're often a bit negative, but always entertaining. I never miss them.

Comic Podcasting at its Best
Al and Paul knock it out every week with this funny, but informative comic podcast. Unlike most comic podcast, these guys know all the right points and jokes to take and make. This is comic podcasting at its best right now people!!
ZombieHighX23
One of the very best comics podcasts!
Informative, entertaining and never boring! Highly recommended!
Canonisation
One of my favourite podcasts.
Always entertaining, informative and occasionally very silly, HtA is always straight on to my iPod as soon as it's up. I've gotten some great recommendations on comics to read (and ones to stay away from) with their enjoyable reviews, and the Official Handbook section that ends each episode never fails to make me laugh. Well worth a listen.
ApathyMonger
Awesome show!
If only Al and Paul would do a weekly show and stop with the vacation. The official handbook to the official handbook more than makes up for this!
