A Favorite Listen Year-Round
One of my favorite podcasts to listen to year-round. Would love to see a 2x a month episode devoted to analysis of player stats during the season or maybe feature episodes on players/coaching staff during the off-season.

Good stuff
Hey just wanted to say I love when you all three are involved. You have differing insight, the delay kind of sucks but top notch. Excited for summer of the cheap weiners. 👍

Enjoyable
But so much potential. I’m pretty disappointed by the hot takes of the guests. I thought they had some analytical bona fides (baseball prospectus and Sabr). I get the data doesn’t always make for a fun, mainstream podcast. But too often they have opinions that leave me asking “why do they think that?” Too often they just “feel” a certain way. Humor and analysis can work together. Call me a grandpa and wistful for firejoemorgan of yesteryear I guess.

Please Find New Hosts!
Now that this Phillies season is essentially over, I want to respectfully request the producers find two new hosts for this podcast. John and Liz bring nothing interesting to the discussion of the Phillies. I feel I like I’m listening to two lawyers on a blind date at CBP, fighting to sound smart and interesting while talking about baseball as they’re each on their phones, trying to line up dates with other people for later in the week. Can you please find two hosts who really know baseball and will help educate the podcast listeners on the subject. Philly doesn’t need another podcast or another radio show hosted by silly fans who are long on stupid, knee-jerk opinions and short on anything of substance. I have tried, over and over again, to listen to these two on your podcast. I’ve given it a chance. And I can’t get through more than ten minutes of these two pretenders talking about baseball. It’s like listening to a ChatGPT AI voice try to do a Phillies baseball podcast. Both John and Liz are just the wrong people for this job. Sorry.

Prob my fave Phillies podcast. Great mix of information and entertainment, and the pod is blowhard free which is key for me.

Best Phillies Podcast!
I’ve listened to this podcast since the very first episode , Day 1-that was the week I got my first iPhone. This is hands down the BEST Phillies podcast out there. If you are a diehard Phillies fan you must make this podcast a part of your life, do it!

Thanks everyone!
Thank you, John, Liz, and Justin, for all of the shows you do. I’ve been listening to you all for many years; glad the last few seasons have been successful for the Phils. Unsure what’s going on with your YouTube channel and the few views but hoping your video live shows can pick up steam. I would love to have a live show/ live chat going into the playoffs.

More Solo Episodes Please
How many negative comments about Justin and Liz before John politely asks them to leave the podcast? Justin can’t speak for 30 seconds without a failed joke that he finds to be absolutely hilarious. Liz’s voice/laugh make me want to cut my ears off.

I hate to be that guy
I enjoy the solo shows, but cannot stand when the woman Liz is on. She’s trying too hard. It’s a podcast, there’s no need to react, audibly to everything, laugh loudly and talk so much. It’s distracting and annoying. Worse than her is the guy Justin. Here are all the ways he’s terrible. 1. He’s often much louder than his cohosts in mic volume, then raises his voice, on top of being louder. 2. His newsy, newsman, radio inflections are awful and annoying. 3. He’s incredibly snarky, and comments on professional baseball players with such contempt as if he’s had some sort of remarkable career. 4. He interrupts everyone, ALL THE TIME! 5. It’s okay to let others make their point. It’s childish to follow up everyone’s point with “I was gonna say that” The more I listen, the more I realize, I just don’t like the snark and schtick. The host and guests are all very knowledgeable, and the content as actually good. If they just played straight, instead of trying to be personalities, this would be five stars and great.

More Solo Stolnis!
After six months of avoiding the high school mean kids lunch table (Liz and Justin), I figured I’d give a shot to a pod with just one. 20 minutes of snarky cynicism about a minor move for a guy who had a good year last year and costs you nothing more than Middleton’s lunch money. Yikes. Stopped in the middle of a workout to delete this one 15 minutes in. Life is too short for this nonsense. Not a Homer. Stolnis by himself is the best baseball pod in this market. Put the Howard Eskin wannabes behind the paywall.

The Casty
Hittin’ Season fans: Imagine what it would take for John to suspend Justin or Liz, that is how bad whatever Nick said. Who is surprised that Casty is a jerk?

Solo John please
John is good and I enjoy his commentary. Liz is painful and may have me deleting this podcast soon. She isn’t very informed and she goes on and on complaining about things.

New people stink
I listen to John for my Phillies info. This is the 3rd season in a row I have resubscribed to hear John talk about the Phillies since it’s impossible to watch every game. However, I don’t know if I can continue. The two new people just aren’t very good behind the mic and they irritate me. The Justin is trying too hard to put on his radio voice, and Liz just seems like she doesn’t know anything or at the very least doesn’t perparw for the show at all. They’re both annoying and cringey and I won’t be listening anymore as long as they’re on the show. Sorry, good luck.

Love the solo episodes more than anything, John, but you gotta settle down a bit. It’s mid April and you’re drawing these brash, sweeping conclusions. The offense will start to click as the weather warms up, it always does. More solo episodes please 🙏

Love this show
I love this show, it’s always informative and the hosts have a great rapport together. Just please change the intro, I cannot handle T-Mac screaming any longer.

Best Phillies Podcast
I don’t think I’ve missed an episode since the Phillies signed Harper. John is an excellent conductor and consummate professional. Justin’s sense of humor, deeply steeped in the Simpsons, reminds me of my own friend group. I like Liz’s point of view on the Union and player’s rights. But what happened Friday’s episode? Was Liz drunk? I wouldn’t have been able to finish the episode were it not for Justin taking up the slack. I hope she’s ok. Keep up the good work gang!

Informative, funny, on target, and no screaming! 👍🏼
This is one of the best Phillies podcasts for staying up to date on the goins-on. John, Liz and Justin are all great and offer different things to the whole discussion. There’s focus on the Phillies, with some actual rational debate and nuance rather than the rantings of live sports radio. Even the tangents are enjoyable.

Love this podcast
I appreciate how objective John seeks to be while also giving a Phillies fan flavor. Great podcast.

John should be a solo host every show
Liz and Justin are truly un-listenable. John knows his stuff and is a true pro’s pro when it comes to the baseball analysis and show production/hosting. I hate having to skip any episodes with Justin or Liz on them because I know I’m missing out on some good stuff from John but I just can’t bear either of them. Not worth the time.
Average Listener DO
LOVE this show!
John's brainiac analysis, Justin's sick disgusting sense of humor, and Liz's no-nonsense approach make WHYY's Hittin' Season the premier Philadelphia Phillies podcast on the planet. Listen as these three hosts compliment each other in a roundabout way, giving you the thoughts you need on this lovable, yet maddening team. Need some variety besides all three at once? Listen to John Stolnis's savant-grade stats and analysis on his solo shows, or listen to Justin and Liz duke it out on the weekly. Don't have time to watch all of the games or read every The Athletic article? No worries. You'll get caught up on all the scores, happenings, and narratives these three host provide each and every week. So if you need crazy stats, humor, or a feisty approach to the Phils, look no further than the Hittin' Season!

Objective Review
John, Justin and Liz team up to make a formidable group discussing all things Phillies related. John does a great job as host, leading the group discussion and moving from topic to topic. He’s knowledgeable, albeit sometimes overly optimistic, in his view of the team and does a good job driving and promoting discussion. Justin, in my opinion, is the most enjoyable member to listen to among the group. His quick witted, dry sense of humor plays well with John and Liz’ more toned down approach. He seems to be the most knowledgeable in the group as well. Respectfully, Liz is the only reason this Pod deserves 4/5 stars. She offers little in the way of actual analysis and tends to interject her political views into discussions with not-so-subtle comments. She oftentimes highlights race, outside the context of its (I guess?) somewhat normal discussion in sports, which oftentimes comes across as forced and leaves an awkward taste in the mouth. As someone who has listened for nearly two years, she’s also had more than a few awkward exchanges with John and Justin. She also tends to yell into her mic to the point it is jarring for the listener. Overall, I’d still very much recommend this podcast with the caveat that Liz is anywhere from “not great” to “what is she talking about” bad. The stream of content is very good and if you’re a Phillies fan, there aren’t many Phillies related podcasts better.

Liz has to go
How she has a job is beyond me. She can’t speak without that awkward laugh. It’s like nails on a chalkboard.

My favorite Phillies podcast
Honestly my favorite of the many Phillies podcasts. John, Justin, and Liz are smart and funny, approaching the team as fans—but ones that know what they’re talking about.

Quality Phillies Podcast
John, Justin, and Liz do a great job giving their perspectives about the team. Sometimes can wear thick rose colored glasses of optimism about the secondary/tertiary Phillies players or team state but mostly their analysis is spot on. Been a listener for years, would recommend Phillies fans subscribe!

Best sports podcast
I listen to many podcasts about Philadelphia sports I can. This is the best one I’ve listened to. Others are good, but this is the best. John is excellent alone, but when all three are together is when the show is brilliant.

More Politics
I found this podcast a few months ago & was enjoying it until they led off with political views. I can get that plenty of other places. Was hoping this would be about the Phillies.

It’s over
Loved the podcast until a shout out for Pride month. Stick to baseball

It was good
Second episode I’ve listened to recently that brought up politics. Head over to the ‘High Hopes’ podcast. Straight baseball talk. Update 5/7/23: Still garbage, John is an A+ podcaster. Liz and Justin are atrocious. Shame for John, he deserves better.

Solid podcast and yet...
4/16/23 UPDATE: I've said it before and I'll say it yet again: what good is a podcast if I can't hear it? This is my go-to Phillies podcast. Host John Stolnis' analysis and (nearly) relentless optimism about the team is always appreciated. I can't say the same of Justin Klugh or Liz Roscher NOR CAN I HEAR WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY. I understand this is a podcast without a big budget but seriously, I'm deleting the latest episode (#653) because the sound quality is absolute garbage. I don't want to have to ratchet up my earbuds/speaker, etc. just to hear casual conversation, then have to rush to turn it down when Justin's laughter blows my eardrums out. 8/22/22 UPDATE: Hearing all three hosts is still an issue. Sometimes sounds like John steps into an other room or distances himself from his mic. Sometimes the volume of the hosts' voices rising up and down is frustrating enough to make me quit listening to an episode. 7/27/22 UPDATE: Now I hear Justin and Liz better than I hear John and, man, I wish they'd get their sound issues figured out. I enjoy their main podcast, "Hittin' Season," which John Stolnis hosts -- often solo but sometimes with Liz Roscher and Justin Klugh. I like John's insight and take on the Phillies' games and their organization as a whole, and he obviously loves the team (which I also find engaging). Their other two podcasts though, "Continued Success" and "The Dirty Inning," I almost always skip them. I'm more interested in Continued Success because they talk current MLB and Phillies news. The Dirty Inning...I'm just not that into ancient Phillies history and don't much care what the team was doing 50 or 60 years ago, etc. But my biggest complaint: Justin, it doesn't matter what you have to say IF I CAN'T HEAR YOU. I don't know if it's his mic, recording equipment or what... But the main reason I bail on the podcasts with just Liz and Justin is because I have to crank up the volume in order to hear anything that Justin is saying, and then my eardrums get blown out when Liz starts talking.

SOLO JOHN STOLNIS!
I ONLY listen to the pod when I see it's just John Stolnis and an external guest on the show - 4-5 stars! I stopped listening and won’t tune in as long as the other two regular guests are on the show - 0-1 stars. Seems from reading other reviews that nothing has changed and I’m making the right decision.

Terrible. Don't waste your time.
Below average baseball talk at best. Also, stay out of politics boys and girls Most listeners don't come to a sports podcast to listen to your poor sense of political humor. Also Liz is so bad it’s actually funny.

Next steps
Guys, sorry to hear about the situation with SB Nation. I’ll follow you wherever the next steps take you. Please share the details when they are available so I can subscribe and continue to enjoy your content.

Just can’t listen to this show anymore
John needs to go somewhere better, he does a great job but the rest of them are just unbearable. Phillies podcasting very clearly has an untapped market that desperately needs better shows. John should branch out and go find someone else to work with, because this crew is not it. I think John and maybe Jack Fritz together could be great.

Came for Baseball - Heard 1st grade political views
So disappointed because I wanted to listen to baseball, and they just wanted to espouse their 1st grade level political viewpoints. Could not dislike the hosts more.

Is this a Phillies podcast….
Tried listening to the November 18th episode. Ends up I waste ten minutes listening to people berate Elon Musk!? Can’t use this podcast as an escape from the real world and into sports I guess… talk about what you advertise. No one cares about your other opinions….

For the Phans!
I found y’all midway through the 2022 season, and I must say that I really enjoyed listening. Breakdowns are compact and insightful, stats are on point. Definitely worth a subscribe for the Phillies fan! I look forward to y’all’s offseason coverage and previewing the 2023 season.

Dirty Inning
When will you actually talk about the game of baseball? And enough with all the giggling, annoying.
everyone gets a pod
Terrible audio
Content might be good. Don’t know. I stopped listening because the audio quality was so bad. One host is screaming. The other sounds like he is in a cement basement talking through a blanket. Expected more from a “professional” SB Nation podcast.
stop with the silly voices
Petty people being sanctimonious with satire
I started listening to this podcast to enjoy some discussion about the Phillies. Instead I was subjected to a class-warfare rant by some arrogant and ill-informed people with an axe to grind. Turned it off after 15 minutes.

Typical media
Stolnis said he’s not here to carry anyone’s water. Proceeds to carry his fellow media buddy’s water.

No original reporting and foul mouthed
You admit you don’t watch all the games or even the reporting on the games. A total waste.

Good show minus Liz
I repeat: Good show that could be great if Liz never came back. She’s inarticulate, has average overall baseball knowledge, and embarrassed herself by inserting “like” before and after every third word. After the last episode one wonders where they received their medical degreee and if they might work for big pharma. Freedom drives these lunatics crazy, and into fits of rage. Pathetic. Always wrong on predictions too, and their Covid takes are particularly bad, not only in the moment but especially in hindsight. Best opening music to any podcast, however, so a star has been added. Probably Stolnis’ decision, because he’s the only relatively normal one of the crew.
