Great show! Teacher, really?
Highside/Lowside is my favorite motorcycling podcast! The content is consistently top notch, and presented passionately by Spurge, Zack, Producer Chase and a variety of well-chosen guests. My only nit to pick is Spurgeon Dunbar’s command of the English language - he regularly mangles the use of I and me in particular. Normally this wouldn’t be so off putting but the man claims to be a historian and a former teacher to boot! Pity the children of America! Seriously this is a favorite podcast of mine. Thank you Highside/Lowside Team (Spurgeon Dunbar included!), Revzilla and the sponsors for the wealth of great content.

You WERE listening to only a half a V4 Ducati engine…
I loved hearing that Zack is on the mend and in good spirits this week. I found it very therapeutic to hear all about The Accident and I’m grateful for how open and generous Zack was to share so much detail. As a long time listener, Zack has grown even more in my esteem if that is even possible. But that’s not why I finally wrote you a review after all these years. As a Panigale V4S owner, I just wanted to point out that it always fires up with two cylinders - and the tone changes totally when you clutch-in and kick into first gear. So I think Zach wins a moral victory with his first guess. Wishing Zack a swift and complete recovery. Medium T shirt please :-)

Long Overdue
Firstly, I want to express gratitude for the time and effort that the Revzilla team puts into Highside/Lowside, my favorite podcast. I recently returned to riding following a 25+ year break after selling my first bike, a 1993 BMW K75S when I left the USMC in 1999. My uncle is responsible for getting me on a motorcycle initially and with this recent return. I’m very fortunate to have purchased my dream bike in the summer of 2024, a 2023 Triumph Speed Triple 1200RR, and I’m well aware of my limitations every time I throw a leg over such a powerful machine. My uncle continues to influence my riding, as he recently introduced me to dirt and gave me his WR250R to work on my off-road skills. I look forward to listening to Zach and Spurge every couple weeks, and I enjoy the variety of guests and contributors. I’m happy to hear Zach is healing and I wish him all the best as he eventually returns to riding. A quick note of constructive criticism if I may….I think the podcast would be better served by Spurge using the phrase “the audience” MUCH less. I enjoy the banter Spurge and Zach have, and it feels like I am privy to an informed discussion on motorcycles amongst friends. I appreciate Spurge’s frequent attempts to slow things down and explain details on terminology or situations that may be unfamiliar to newer riders, but constantly referring to “the audience” starts to make the podcast feel less like a discussion and more like a production. Perhaps mixing it up with “listeners”, or “fellow riders” etc might help, but I think you can slow things down without having to explain that it’s for the benefit of those listening (because it’s implied) and it might make for a more efficient experience. Again thank you for all that you guys do.

Found “lost episodes “!
I started listening to the Hs Ls podcast a while ago. I just realized I must have started after Zack joined. I found season 1 and lo and behold no Zack or Engine Sound Listening Game! I was super excited to find episodes I hadn’t listened to but sorely disappointed when there was no Engine Sound game ! Also ,it was so short! It’s fun to see how it started and what it’s become . I am so glad I found a podcast that gets me!

Laughing out loud
I’m an old new rider which means I rode along time ago, took a break in life and started again. I bought the quintessential HD that I dreamed of as a kid then I bought and Indian and I thought I was done. Then listening to you yahoos, I am now looking at speed triple, monster, etc. your show has really opened my eyes to different styles of riding and I am excited to get into it. With that in mind, I’m approaching 60, 6’2”, 225 lbs and I want to learn how to do wheelies and endos with out completely killing myself. What should I get? Thanks again for doing such a great job on the show. Just finished seasoned 8 episode 3 new bikes made to look vintage the only thing that would be better is if I was learning to do wheelies with a high side/low side t-shirt on. If you find yourselves in VA, stop in for a ride and keep doing a fantastic show.

Informative and always puts a smile on my face!
I have listened to just about every episode going back to season 3. I love listening and can’t get enough motorcycle content. I’ve learned so much from your gear episodes and learned more about bikes new and old than I ever thought I would. I love this podcast and no matter producer Chase says it never runs too long, go off on all the tangents possible, they are always my favorite part! Also Spurg’s motul ads have absolutely sold me on motul, I don’t buy anything else.

The best podcast - and thanks for taking my dating game request!
I’m Noah’s dad Randy. Thanks for taking our motorcycle dating game submission. I went with the Yamaha TTR50 since it has electric start (Honda CRF still kick start only). And as Spurge suspected, 7 year old Noah learned how to shift using the semi auto transmission in no time at all. He’s ripping around the 50cc like a boss. In hindsight, I’m happy I went with the gas powered bike instead of an electric bike. Keep up the good work on your podcast. I listen to every episode and have been for years. Wishing Zack a speedy recovery. Good work holding up the fort Spurge!

Forever Grateful
This podcast I have been listening to for years (still working on catching up on all older episodes too). The information I have learned from this podcast has helped me figure out what to look for in my first motorcycle. I am happy to say that after 17 years of complaining to my wife, she FINALLY is okay with my getting a motorcycle this coming Spring. I owe this podcast for helping me - as I have used various bits of information to progress in persuading her, learn about the MSF (and taken it and passed), and know what to look for in a bike. Thank you so much Spurg and Zack; you have helped change my life in a way that only others in this hobby will ever understand. Spring can’t come soon enough!

Even if you don’t ride….
This is easily one of the best podcasts out there. Spurgeon and Zack have great chemistry and it’s always fun hearing their enthusiasm on the topic at hand. My biggest complaint is that it’s not a more regular thing but I’ll forgive them, given the quality of the content. Love the show, guys! I always look forward to the next episode.

Always a good listen
Heyo - Have listened since season 1 and love having the banter on in the back of shop while working on the bike, now I’ve found a new use as a new dad! You keep the baby asleep and the dad awake, keep it rolling, thanks guys.

It’s because of Revzilla I now own a Versys 650
After four years of working from home, I was in the market for a good commuter motorcycle. My main criteria were a bike that I wouldn't be heartbroken over if it sat in the rain, got tipped over, or was stolen. I found a used Versys 650 for a good price. Having known the praises team Zila has said about the Versys, I decided to give it a try. After riding it for a few months I am now a convert of this bike. It really is as good as these knuckle heads say. If they were right about the Versys 650, maybe they know a thing or two about making a good podcast.

Great podcast
If your looking for a very informative podcast about everything motorcycles while still being entertained and enjoying a few good laughs look no further than high side low side. This podcast covers everything about motorcycles and is super informative regardless of skill level or experience. Further more the banter between spurg and Zach is great! Highly recommend!

I'm sad, five stars.
I'm positively distraught, after listening to you guys for many a 10 hour shift, I've finally caught up and listened to all the episodes. You guys made it feel like I was sitting around with my buddies talking about motorcycles all day while I slogged my day through work. Excellent podcast, I'm probably going to start at the beginning again, thank you for keeping me company.

Great inspiring pod
This is one of the most consistently listenable pods in my list of dozens and dozens. These guys wear their excitement on their sleeves for motorcycles. They are true gearheads with tons of knowledge to share without ever getting snobby (or weird) like most motorcycle pods these days do. It's all about the love for engineering and passing on their years of experience, while staying open-minded but honest about emerging technology and what works and doesn't. I learn something every time I listen. Revzilla in general is the most trusted name in bikes for a reason and they take that seriously. I had a lowside incident that gave me an appreciation for the pod name, luckily just a broken finger. But they make me want to hop back on a bike again asap, that's how fun this pod is.

Inspired a rider and a (un?)healthy obsession
You guys helped me make the jump to purchase a motorcycle 2 years ago now, a little yamaha sr400. Only two months later I purchased a 1977 XS750D that I know endlessly tinker with. The SR400 is gone and I daily ride a DR650 that I’ve spent probably too much money on modding, but I love it. My brothers and I have dreamed about taking a motorcycle road trip together since we were younger and someday we’ll make it happen. I appreciate the feeling of community you guys create!

Refreshing
Guys, thanks for the show. After needing a break from comedians talking about psychedelics and politics, it’s refreshing to hang out with you two talking about the real issues facing us….Adventure bikes vs sport touring vs Nakeds. AITA topics and your takes on them crack me up because I think we all relate somehow when we were in our 20s. Love the goldwing ep, always thought of one for retirement if we are not all restoring Dr650’s in a post apocalypse lol. Thanks!

Gratitude
Around the same time this episode went live, while riding the beautiful Black Hills at Get On ADV Fest, I found myself lying prone on a remote trail with my left ankle trapped underneath the left pannier rack of my Africa Twin DCT. I was unaware my riding partner had fallen over about 150 yards behind me and was taking a break to calm his nerves. I lay there about 10 minutes until another rider came upon me and tried to help. He did his best to at least lift the bike off my ankle, but unfortunately the way the bike and I were positioned, this was to no avail. After about 25 minutes, a group of riders including my buddy came along and extracted me. Initially, I thought I was just going to be sore (really sore) and after waiting out the adrenaline dump, we got on our way. As bad luck would have it, I got sideways in some slick mud and went down again, only this time I wasn’t hurt, but the rear brake pedal, essential for slow speed maneuvering on a DCT, was bent back 180 degrees against the foot peg. There’s much more to the story of the next 5 hours, but let’s just say I was done riding. I used my Garmin to message my wife to come get me. While my buddy and I were waiting, The World’s Most Awesome Dudes came upon my buddy and me. Around the same time, my wife arrived on foot because she’d blown a tire about a half-mile back up the gnarly two-track. World’s Most Awesome Dudes gave me a ride up the very rutted and rocky hill on a small dual-sport to the disabled truck, changed the tire, then rode my bike for about five miles, with no rear brake, to the nearest gravel road, locked the forks, pinned the location on GPS and gave the key to my riding buddy. My lovely wife walked back up the hill to meet me. Meanwhile, World’s Most Awesome Dudes made a couple of trips to bring all gear to me. My lovely wife was a bit perturbed, because only during this period did she learn I was actually injured. We made it out and went to the nearest diner, The Sugar Shack, and met up with my riding buddy. After a very late lunch, we made it to Urgent Care in Rapid City where we learned I’d fractured my distal fibula. All this is to say, I am extremely grateful to The World’s Most Awesome Dudes and my riding buddy, and of course of lovely wife, for going WAY above and beyond to help me out of a jam. All of them represent everything I love about the ADV community and I just wanted to publicly thank them for all they did. I don’t need a t-shirt, but I would humbly ask for a quick shout out the World’s Most Awesome Dudes on a future episode.

Podcast hosts or best friends?
Listening to Spurg and Zack for several seasons now, they feel like best friends of mine. And even better than that, they feel like my favorite riding buddies-and those are hard to come by! Always enjoy the content and look forward to each new episode. Smiles, laughs, and sometimes even spirited and aggressive retorts-these are all of my normal reactions to just about every episode. My only complaints are-not enough episodes, and you don't ride with me.

Braaaaap!
Hi Spurgeon and Zach! I have been listing to the podcast for almost a year now and have been systematically going backwards in the timeline. Love listening to you guys, keep up the good work! So here’s my question, I currently have a GSXS 750 and recently did a day with California super bike school. Riding on track is my new obsession, should I sell the GSXS and pick up an SV 650 which is probably a better track tool if equipped with suspension mods. Thanks guys!

An Inspiration to Ride
Love the podcast. I’ve been watching random episodes for years, but in the past few weeks, I’ve just been binging it from the beginning. I’ll probably finish within a week or two since I have a 4 hour daily commute. Having people so passionate about motorcycles inspires me to get out for a few hours every weekend and enjoy my bike more. I’ve loved motorcycles since I started riding in 2018, but life can get in the way sometimes. This podcast reminds me that making time for my passions is so important. My last review was deleted, so I figured I’d leave another since this podcast has been so great for me :)

Our dad’s favorite podcast
We are the four kids of a helicopter pilot who’s absolutely obsessed with motorcycles. Every time he talks about them, including what he hears on this podcast, he gets stars in his eyes lol. He listens to you guys during his commute to his other love, flying the helicopter for an air medical transport company, and got the entire way through your backlog of episodes. He has a Suzuki V-Strom 1000 he rides to work, and we just got an old Honda cb125s that we are fixing up all together but it’s mostly our dad’s pet project. The goal for the cb125s is to teach us to ride!! Because it’s a much more manageable size and we are over the moon! It’s his contribution to passing the love of motorcycles to the next generation. He’s the biggest nerd ever so thank you for giving our old man something to listen to on the way to work, even though it’s a little annoying when he references a complicated joke that he can’t quite explain from off the podcast. On behalf of an old(ish) fan, his kids

Love the content
I’ve been following Zack and Ari for years and watching Revzilla’s videos since my first bike purchase (2015 1190 Adventure R). Since buying my second bike, 2024 r1250 gsa, I have enjoyed getting back to watching and listening to Zack and Spurgeon on the podcast as well catching up on new products through Revzilla. Keep up the great work.

A podcast my wife won’t listen to.
I have been looking for a podcast to call my own. No more true crime or celebrities droning on about how tough it is to be rich and famous. Just motorcycles. Spurg and Zach do a great job keeping my attention, regardless of whether I am running on two wheels or four. S10E5 was particularly interesting as I’ve always dreamed of riding through Europe and now I have a path forward for renting and touring. My wife tunes out when I turn Highside/Lowside on.

Bike Rentals and MotoQuest
I appreciate your podcast and effort in preparing for each episode. You do a great job of making the content accessible to listeners across the spectrum of experience. I didn’t start riding until I was 48. Three or four years after I began riding my wife gave me the Kenai Pennisula trip with MotoQuest as a Christmas gift. I’ve got so many wonderful memories from that week. MotoQuest provides a phenomenal experience. And, yes, I’ve got the best wife ever.

Awesome show!
This is a great podcast to listen to if you ride or are interested in getting into riding. I didn’t learn to ride until I was 26, but that was 26 years ago. I really enjoy hearing the different perspectives of riders from various generations and disciplines.

20%
I’m part of the so called 20% of airtime. I ride an older Harley Davidson Dyna but love the podcast because I get to learn about genres of motorcycles I don’t have any experience in and it’s my plan to at least get an ADV/Dual Sport to go beyond the pavement and get dirty. Keep doing what you’re doing obviously it’s worked for 10 seasons so far.

Very informative and a fun listen
It’s a great show that informs and entertains! One of the podcasts mentioned mantras and ways of getting in the mindset to ride, so I came up with the below as my not-as-short-as-intended mantra to read/say when I go for a ride: As I prepare to ride, I quiet my mind, My mind stops thinking and starts riding before I've even begun to ride physically, Like the Budha, I let the river go by without thought, My thoughts fade into movement and sight, Sight is my being, to see around me and to see the path in front of me Seeing not only what is and what will be, but also seeing speed, angle, and positioning, As I become one with the machine. Thanks High Side Low Side!

Xr650 vs Klr650
Boys boys!!! Season 10 ep 3 talking about the xr650 vs klr 650. I have owned both and there is no comparison. The xr is way lighter, more powerful and is literally capable of doing the Baja 1000 out of the box. Also I have a klx300s and it doesn’t compare to the xr in any way. They’re not even on the same planet in my opinion. I like the klx300 a lot though, I also have a husqvarna 701 enduro and it makes all the other dual sports look slow and heavy it’s way over 10k though. Love the show, keep up the good work!

Makes me laugh
I usually listen to HS/LS while using the stair stepper at the gym. I will be 15 minutes into an intense workout when Zach or Spurg will say something that makes me burst out laughing. I have gotten a lot of strange looks as no one else is laughing on that device. Thanks guys for being so entertaining, informative and distracting. I love the show and appreciate your hardwork and dedication.

Listening to Highside/Lowside on the way to picking up an Iconic Bonneville!
Zack and Spurgeon, you guys hit it out of the stadium on your show with May Oxley! My wife and I got a fantastic understanding of the Isle of Man TT and what makes it so special, and I hope we make it there some day. She and I love listening to HS/LS in the “cage” when we have a longish drive. You guys, like Martin Sheen or Connie Britton, are national treasures! Don’t you go changing!
B-Dog of the McCalla Dogs
Love the show
Zach & Spurgeon are very knowledgeable in the world of motorcycles and each episode is filled with great dialogue thanks to Producer Chase. Been looking for a good moto podcast and seem to have landed on this one. My only complaint is they tend to talk about sport and adventure while cruisers maybe only get 20% air time. I understand that’s where their hearts lie and maybe I’ll get into those categories someday but right now I’m a road cruiser so that’s what I’d like to hear more about.

You are family
Ive followed Zac/Ari since their early motorcyclist magazine days immediately jump on anything they have a hand in. I recently watched the latest CTXP episode honoring Aris father and wow..there are no words. I found myself sitting next to my two sons tearing up as the credits rolled. Amazing productions like this are why I joyfully consume everything your team puts out from daily rider, to common tread to this podcast. I gladly buy all of my motorcycle gear and items from excluding revzilla and support you any way I can because I feel like I’ve come to know you , even though we may never meet. You’re not just wonderful writers and journalists and mechanics and racers and podcasters but also wonderful people. Youre faithful fathers and loving sons. You’re tribute episode honoring Aris dad was beautiful and to me you’ll always feel like family…my motorcycle family. Thank you thank you thank you.-Alex K

Been watching/listening to Gear Reviews, Podcasts, and The Shop Manual for years. It’s been so cool watching the team grow and evolve through life. Always loved Ari Henning and the expertise he provides! Truly unbelievable how vulnerable and personal he got with the last CTXP Episode. Always something to learn and cannot thank the entire team enough for educating and sharing this two wheeled (sometimes 3) passion.

I love love love this podcast so much… As a new writer who started riding in his 50s I did hours and hours of practice with high side, low side playing in the helmet and you guys feel like family! I love the camaraderie, the silly jokes mixed in with spectacular technical information in a easy to listen format for those of us that fell in love with motorcycles as little kids and that love stayed thru the decades…. All the members of your team along with the host help nourish that need inside that all of us that love bikes have to have intelligent, thoughtful, engaging, and funny conversations with a small group of like-minded Friends!!! on a sidenote just watched the CTXP episode where are you guys rebuild Ari’s dad’s bike… It was so riveting and emotionally engaging and is a spectacular piece of filmmaking and is definitely award consideration worthy… Keep up the great work!!!

First off I titled this review in hopes it would catch Zach and Spurg’s attention, but in all seriousness thank you for putting out such great content that’s not only informative, but both inspiring and entertaining! I’m not just talking about Highside/Lowside, but all of the content you guys put out at Revzilla! I recently watched CTXP episode “1300 Miles of Mayhem” truly one of the best motorcycle films to come out in a long time!! Getting to watch Ari and Zach rebuild Ari’s father’s bike with Spurg at the helm of the bus was just so cool to watch and reminded me of why I love riding motorcycles so much! Nothing better than hanging out with your buddies, family and just getting to burn some fuel on two wheels. Your content at Revzilla absolutely without doubt helps make these New England winters better! You guys rock!! Thanks again and ride safe!!!

Ryan from F9 did not write this
“You either die a squid or live long enough to see yourself become a villain.” - Someones uncle in a hi-viz jacket. I turn the key and count my blessings. Seat belt check, phone check, wallet check, work badge check. I adjust the rear view mirror and briefly make eye contact with the cager in the mirror.. The transmission shifts into drive willingly. The cry of the serpentine belt accompanies me as I set off into the sunrise. My life flashes before my eyes as my doors get blown off by a blurry silhouette of a clapped out R6 trying to outrun his written attendance warning, a six thousand pound overland 4Runner with a rooftop tent in tow. I’m left blinded by a Ram 2500 high beams full blast 2 feet behind - 4 feet taller than me - 3 lanes to the right going 75 down the interstate. I exit the freeway and make my way over the hill ~ 10 miles into my commute I’m greeted by a monumental amount of brake lights, like swinging the doors open to a Jurassic cathedral. It’s one of earths most special moments. As I disconnectedly stare into the rear lights of a Nissan Altima for the next fifteen minutes. Familiar words and terminology enlighten me back to reality. Harley Pan-America? KTM, Motul? Apex’s, spring rates, sag? Confused and misunderstood and happy.. I hesitantly press pause and turn the car off. Anyways two weeks and a dozen podcast episodes later just after a ten hour shift I walked into a dealer and rode out on a new to me 1200gs. Thanks for the inspiration fellas. Also, please get Jamie aka Motogeo on the cast 🤟

Only Podcast I Can Listen To With My Wife
I love motorcycles! My wife will ride on my motorcycle with me, but has no interest in riding her own. She will however listen to Highside/Lowside with me! We both enjoy the friendly banter and she loves to repeat something she heard on the show at wildly inappropriate times, like asking how my “chicken lips are doing” after listening to the motorcycle terminology episode. Even though she doesn’t ride herself, it is really great to be able to share a little bit of the motorcycle culture with her thanks to Highside/Lowside.

Spreading the 2 wheeled love
Having returned to motorcycling after a 10 year hiatus, it’s great to hear fresh perspectives. Some of the rhetoric is the same, but it’s nice to see what the next generation has evolved into. Love Zach and spurge. And always look forward to the next episode. Keep up the good work.

What a Relief
When Spurg said at the end of Season 9 that they’re already making accommodations for Season 10, I slept well for the first time in months. Also, the SPURGEON DUNBAR compilation at the end of Season 9 is worth the price of admission, especially as I spat my Motul cocktail all over my keyboard. Thanks for all you do, guys and gals!
