Missed the boat again
DEI episode missed the mark. Again. Good intentions don’t translate into results, nor fairness. So frustrating.

Overly academic
The AI episode represents the fatal flaw of this podcast: it is overly optimistic and academic for the stock market, not the people on the company. We will not get shorter workweeks out of ai -those who don’t adopt will be fired as a headcount reduction and you will be working the same number f hours. This was an arrogant take by a condescending guest.

Impactful
I’m the manager of highly functional sales team. Sales is an emotional practice. How my employees feel goes a long way to motivate people to do what they wanna do. So I really appreciate the episode to be able to manage those emotions effectively. This one really spoke to me and has paid off for my team.

Very safe, staid content and interviews
The podcast - from hosts, to guests and topics - feels staid and academic. As a leadership consultant, I scan the topics but find I rarely consume or recommend the pod. Maybe all this is by design to align w/Harvard brand?

Don’t get propagandists
The bad leaders episode sullies the good name of HBR. It’s a hit job that an unwitting Curt Nickish didn’t catch on. Take it down.

This is a political podcast disguised as a business podcast
HBR is captured by a “woke” ideology. It’s no longer focused on business success.

Not good anymore
I listened to this podcast for well over a year and have listened to every one. If your looking to be influenced to the left in politics, You have found your podcast. This podcast used to do a good job at staying neutral and keeping to facts, not anymore.

Too much wokeness
Used to really enjoy HBR, but now it’s mostly for the social justice crowd.

Let the Golden Rule help
Re: you podcast on rude customer behavior It does seem we live in an angrier society and I appreciate hearing Ms. Porath’s well studied insights. After listening I took a moment to ponder your conversation and was reminded of the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. Reminders of this simple but always effective behavior have faded in our society. Perhaps recreating widespread awareness of the Golden Rule is another strategy to remind our over stressed society to be civil at all times. Thanks for a thought provoking podcast. Curt Vapor

Just ok
I’ve listened to a few episodes and it’s what I would call a rehash of accepted wisdom. It was interesting listening to the Union episode which to shows the disconnect between an academic and the real world. The academic was very obviously pro union and sadly the interviewer did not take the opportunity to challenge him at all. He also has never actually dealt with a union in real life and how it works in practice. I had to lol when he said unions increase productivity and he was actually serious about it.

Go woke, Go Broke
The podcast might get a better listenership if you kept politics and RHINO and all political figures off of the podcast.

Programming
I enjoy the podcast sometimes. I appreciate the business insights that are presented but I find too many episodes that contribute to our collective victim-mentality. Ethical business practices should be a consistent undercurrent, but it’s not the principal reason for listening.

Megan gerhardt horrible interview
Horrible interview. Waste of time. Just makes excuses

Used to be interesting…
While typically liberal in perspective this podcast has descended into pure leftist dribble. I’m out.

Too shallow
It is almost ironic that some of the most popular podcasts are very long. But a podcast about successful business is so short. I really do wish that the episodes were much longer and more in depth. Everyone seems to be cut off short. There seems like there is a lot more to talk about on each topic.

Gaslighting episode
I appreciate the gaslighting episode but believe there needs to be significant more conversation about it. The reality is when someone stands up to a gaslighter they then become a new target. So the solution of someone else questioning or pushing back against the gaslighter isn’t that viable. The solution most often is that the victim must leave sacrificing career progression and capital to survive. It’s an insidious problem that needs more visibility and should be an integral part of any DEI initiative as those with the least power are the most frequent targets. For anyone who has been on the receiving end - it’s a devastating and destructive experience that challenges your mental health and self worth.

...
Had this on in the background, but then unfortunately had to stop listening after about 16mins (in #810) when I heard the speaker start gushing on about how Kanye West is a great genius in the history of music ...
;!;!;!;
Curt Nickisch rocks!
Carlos Ghosn 4 part series was outstanding - in-depth, intelligent and entertaining. Curt’s voice is made for podcasting!

Great Insight, Digestible Format
Tons of actionable takeaways packed into each episode

Good overall.
I’ve been listening to it a few months now. Overall this show is interesting to listen to and gives really good insights into the business world. My only complaint is during the recent podcast #788 Career Rules at around the 19 min mark the host came off as ignorant by saying “Large, small, US, Asian, Indian, South American.” India isn’t a continent and is considered Asian, there was no need to distinguish/ single it out.

Big Management Ideas
This is best podcast for exploring new business concepts. It helps frame old concepts in new ways. I don't subscribe to the academic journal, but this gives me a little insight into what the journal is covering.

Hard to listen to
The host Alison uses severe vocal fry. Turn down the treble to avoid having the crackling be so disturbing.

Our Ideals

Like the content but post-interview production needs improvement
Recently discovered this podcast. Really like the content. I would give it a five star rating if the post interview production could edit out all the annoying fillers such as “You know”, “And”, etc. on both interviewers and interviewees. Even experienced speakers could have many fillers in their conversations. It would be much more enjoyable to listen to edited smooth production. Thanks.

Host uses too many filler words
For an HBR backed program, the host uses too many filler words like “sort of” “kind of” and “you know”. This weakens the power of the topics chosen and makes the host seem unsure. I like the topics but the show itself falls short of compelling its audience.
San Diego Sunshine
Opinionated banter
Not much hard analysis, data, or insight is offered. More emotionally charged, opinion banter. Disappointed after listening to 15+ episodes. Unsubscribing now.
