Ugh….
I wanted to enjoy following along for refreshers on certain series in preparation or new releases, but cannot get past the annoying screaming, the “Hazas”, and incessant cackling. This could be such a great podcast if they toned it down.

Come for the books stay for the inside jokes
Love this podcast and all the book coverage. I have learned so much and analyze while reading now. The banter between sisters is my favorite as well!

Love it but…..
Oh man I’ve loved this podcast for so long but the Loudest screaming and what sounds like fake cackling and laughing is incredibly jarring and so loud.

Moved on!
I used to LOVE listening to FFG on my Monday mornings but in the last few months I have found myself unable to get through even PART of an episode (why are they three hours!!?). There are. So. Many. Ads. Not only for outside sponsorships but their own personal promo too for various patreons, discord, etc. I’m not trying to be sold anything or buy into something - I just want to listen to someone talk about my favorite books! It’s incredible they’ve been able to turn this into a living for themselves but holy moly. It’s like they sold out and it feels so transactional now. Also, the screaming/obnoxious cackling has been the deciding factor in switching to another podcast. It’s SO overwhelming, I turn it off the first moment that happens.

Best podcast ever!
If you love fantasy books - these girls are IT!!! A must listen, you won’t regret the thousands of hours of deep dives you listen to

SO. Many.Ads
I really enjoy this podcast and the deep dives. I appreciate the time and detail that goes into each episode! My only issues stem from the INSANE amount of ads. When I first started listening, you had to skip through 7+ minutes of ads at the beginning of each episode. Now it’s even worse! Not only are there 7 mins in the beginning, but the constant interruption of 5 min ads, plus them constantly plugging all their appearances and patron levels/welcomes..it’s almost too much. At least put it all together at the end and make it all at one consistent volume level. It’s all so jarring and completely takes you out of the listening experience

It used to be fun
I miss the days when I liked this podcast. The episodes have become more scripted, less focused on discussing the book and more so on reiterating world building, and there are now a ludicrous amount of ads. I love book podcasts that discuss things like pacing, character development, writing style, etc. and I appreciate it when hosts aren’t afraid to say what didn’t work for them or what didn’t make sense. This podcast doesn’t really do any of that. They go through the plot basically beat by beat and go over the world building in agonizing detail. I don’t really see the point of that since I read the book. They aren’t bringing any new information or insight. It’s like re-reading the book but worse. Personally I always struggle with podcasts that feel scripted, but the way they present topics is so obviously scripted and pumped up with what feels like fake energy. Theres no room for anything organic, there’s no room to breathe. When episodes clock in at around three hours that really starts to grate on the nerves. Also, I do think some books led themselves to a “deep dive” better than others. The Fourth Wing books are kind of built for wild speculation. Other books they’ve covered, not so much. Finally, the ads. There are so many and there’s no transition so you don’t know when they’re coming so you it’s harder to skip ahead. I’m guessing that’s on purpose to force people to listen to the ads (I think one of the hosts has a marketing background so maybe that’s a trick of the trade?) All of this together makes the podcast, which I once really enjoyed, a frustrating listen.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
One of the best deep dive podcasts out there! Lexi and Nicole are not only hilarious but also truly insightful deep divers.

Used to love 🥲
I’ve listened to all FFG episodes minus the Penn Cole series. I now find myself forgetting an episode is even coming out these days. I could hardly get through brimstone coverage for the screaming and arguing setting off my nervous system. I DNF most episodes. Now, I think I speak for the majority of us when I say 1. I don’t need a TOG fan guide because I’ve already read it 2. No one needs a TOG fan guide because you don’t need to know anything to read it…. Just pick an order and read the books. If fan guides are the direction the podcast is going my friends and I have no interest.

You girls are joy-bringers!
I started listening to ACOTAR and the podcast when I was drowning in the struggles of chronic illness and baby motherhood and you girls and your coverage of these magical stories have provided so much of a healthy escape and connection when I need it. Thank you for your silliness and passion! It can be so hard to find joy, and you girls help me find it.

Day one listener
I have been listening since the podcast started and it has helped me find new books to read and I LOVE the deep dives they have done. One thing that’s been tough lately is how bad the commercials are spliced in. It’s been mid sentence and it doesn’t come back at the same spot. Maybe some music to show it’s going to commercials (many podcasts go that route). Either way, one of my favorites. 💜

So many ads
First, is this the first podcast I listen to each week? Yes. I’ve been listening since the beginning. I am so happy for the life changes this podcast has brought to the 2 hosts that dive deeper than any other fantasy podcast I listen to. But. The ads. It takes 7ish minutes to get to content in the beginning with pre-roll ads and personal promo. Then every couple of minutes there are super long ad breaks. If anyone on the team reads these, please, please, stop making soooooo much advertising in each episode.

Amazing how in depth they go!
Love how they really and truly swap dirt into the books and make connections (or theories) on aspects I’ve never thought of!

My most favorite podcast EVER! ❤️
This review is looong overdue! I found FFG when I was in a deep ACOTAR hangover… and I was hooked! That was over a year and a half ago and I’m still an avid weekly listener! Not only that, but they introduced me to other amazing books and I’ve now read and/or listened to every book they’ve covered + the podcast episodes ❤️ Nicole and Lexi do such an amazing job - they are fun, engaging, creative and insightful! I love their banter and I relate to Lexi’s love of Cassian and her thoughts & theories the most! I’ve never been THIS dedicated to a podcast ever! lol I look forward to it every week!

The amount of ads is insane
I listen regularly and the increase in the amount of ads is very noticeable. I’m sure there are other listeners like me that don’t quite want the extras of the community. I also understand that there needs to be revenue, but compared to other similar podcasts the amount of ads is probably double. Obviously there is the ability to skip through them, but I tend to listen while cooking, cleaning up or doing other things and end up suffering through the solid 2 min of ads 3 times throughout the podcast. The flip flop on brands too Liquid IV is all I use, LMNT is the best….

Literally like sitting with my girls
I love this pod as it kind of just feels like sitting around a table chatting with my girls about our favorite things. I also appreciate the hours they put into each deep dive. One of my favorite pods to turn on when I just want to be back in the romantasy universe and feel all those feelings again.

Overall fun
Really love the deep dives and work that goes into these episodes and the level of info. The mispronunciation of words kills me a bit since this is podcast about books.

Deep dive besties!
I feel like I can’t read books without these ladies! As I’m reading new books I know they’ll deep dive, I’m already wondering what they’ll theorize. Love these brilliant women!!
Lynda1234
Mixed Feelings
I appreciate the deep dives and they can be entertaining, but the adolescent vibes are overkill for 30 year olds, plus the constant yelling and cackling is like nails on a chalkboard. I love listening to their analysis and breakdowns, but the other pieces make it hard to listen to. Also, for the love of God, please stop saying “I love it so much.”

I love this podcast
I’m so sad I didn’t find the Fantasy Fangirls sooner!! Re-reading the Empyrean series with their deep dives has been so much fun. I am obsessed and if you like romantasy books you will be too.

Love at first listen!
I got back into reading with the ACOTAR series and wanted more. Not sure how I stumbled on FFG but so glad that I did. I absolutely love the show. It makes me think, even if some theories are far fetched, which is what deep dives are really about! I drive a lot for work and school and also love the length of the podcasts, they keep me entertained for the entire drive! Keep ‘em coming ladies. 😊

❤️
Love these ladies. They’re so passionate and do a terrific job with their breakdowns. They find all the Easter eggs so i don’t have to 🫶🏽

Good conversations; adult tone needed
I love the huge amount of content, knowledge and passion that goes into this podcast but I really really wish that the conversations were just conversations that sounded more adult like. The storytelling feels like how I used to read to my first graders class; it sounds very childlike sadly and I really disliked feeling like I was sitting on the floor listening to my over-animated teacher again. Many of the books discussed are adult books read by adults that we prescribe adult voices to. Such a good, helpful podcast for book readers. I would just consider talking and reading toward the age of your audience.

Wish I could love it
I want to love this but most times I walk away more annoyed than anything after listening. The ads are crazy! 7-8 minutes before they even get to start of the episode?? Then another 5-6 minute ad section in the middle. The theories get to the point they are utterly ridiculous. I appreciate their energy and enthusiasm. But the cackling laughter is a grate on my soul!! So annoying. Everything is not funny! And because the episodes are so long I have to listen to it sped up which does nothing for the cackling. I’m still searching for the right romantasy breakdown pod.

Amazing
My book journey began about 15 years ago and came to stop because I just didn’t know what I liked then again about 10 years ago and I again I didn’t find anything that drew me in. Then last year I came across fantasy fan girls on TikTok which inspired me to think about reading. I told my husband about the ACOTAR series and he insisted I buy every book. I was hesitant and only bought one at a time being afraid to commit. Fast forward to now and I’ve read about 50 books and have listened to each episode of fantasy fan girls. It’s so amazing to feel connected to a group of people who enjoy the same books as me and even got my husband into listening to some audio books he’s finished the fourth wing series and loved it and just finished the first book in ACOTAR and it’s been so amazing to be able to talk to him about these books and give us another thing to bond over. So thank you so much for giving me a place to feel welcome and deep dive my favorite books and bring my husband and another reason to connect. He works 60 - 80 hrs a week to save up for a house in the country hopefully with a cozy library so we don’t have a lot of time to connect lately. He listens to the audiobooks on breaks and on his drive home and even in the shower. So thank you so so much for creating this beautiful community.

Make it stop
If obnoxious is your thing, you’ll love this.

Not terrible
I enjoy it for the most part but sometimes the deep dive theories are just ridiculous. The most annoying thing is the sheer amount of ads is crazy. The episode doesn’t start until like 7-8 months in between the ads and then shilling their Patrion and then there are more ads throughout the podcast. I’d say probably 20+ minutes of ads

The podcast that gives you MORE!!
These girls got me more into podcasting and more into fantasy books. Like many, I obsessed over ACOTAR and wanted MORE!! This podcast gave me more and continues to do so as I nerd out over Romantasy novels. They help connect dots that are hard to do on a first read but that make your brain think on everything deeper. It has helped trained my reader’s brain while working through books! I’ve been listening for a couple years now and just want to say thank you to these ladies for their authenticity, brilliance, and fun. 😘

Loving Quicksilver Coverage
I am loving listening to the podcast in preparation for Brimstone. It’s been great for a reread - especially since I did not remember a lot since the first time I read it. However, it’s fun to theorize again and pick up on little foreshadowing right before getting the next book.

I want to live them
I used to love them but they have lost me recently. I have to skip like the first 20 minutes. They go too long on very little things. I tried it again after stopping with Spark but I have to stop again. The episodes are way too long. I also miss the old recaps.

Late to the Game
I only started reading Fourth Wing about a month ago and I am completely obsessed. I literally couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I looked for podcasts that are just as obsessed as I am. Thanks for creating a trove of content for me to dig through as I agonizing over how long it will be before book four. (truly don’t know how you guys have waited so long between each book since the beginning😅)

Too much
Too cutesy, too high pitched. I want to like this podcast, but this pair is too scripted and high energy. I’m exhausted listening to them. The cackling is way over the top and seems like ads are half the show.

Ads are insane
I’m a relatively new listener, but I cannot believe I basically I had to skip like the first 24 minutes of the episode today because of ads and repetitive information. The cackling laughing is also annoying.

Connection and happiness
Thank you FFG for providing a community that has lifted me up and helped me appreciate books even more than I already did. These deep dives are perfection

They sold out
The episodes are 2-3 hours long because of all the ADS!!! I like listening to them talk about my favorite books but this most recent episode took 8 minutes to get to the actual start of the show!! Then there’s an ad every 20 minutes. I used to like their high energy and obsession but now the ads are making me angry with their attitudes 😭 I listen on 2x speed to get through it. Ughhh

I love this podcast!!
I love diving deep with these sisters! It’s my favorite kind of “book club”

Love but struggling with long episodes
I love this podcast. The deep dives into my favorite books help me relive and stay in these fantasy worlds. It’s a great mix of being lighthearted and deep. I’m majorly struggling with the length of the episodes. I can’t keep committing close to 3 hours each week (sometimes more) to the episodes. I have other audiobooks I want to have more time with. I’m skipping their newest deep dive for a break to catch up on some other listening.

Can’t bring myself to keep listening
I loved the coverage of all three fourth wing books and, after re-reading the ACOTAR series, thought it’d be fun to give those podcast episodes a listen to as well. From the jump the vibes were incredibly different. The focus was far less on the story, plot, world building, cheering on the characters, guessing about author motives, and just overall enjoying the story for what it was. Instead, from the beginning, which got increasingly obvious by the end of the first book, the ACOTAR coverage really focused on evaluating the actions of the characters from a moral and ethical standpoint. An inordinate amount of time was spent deciding who was right or wrong in a situation and why. And unfortunately, much of felt like it was coming from a place of moral high-ground. By ACOSF this became unbearable. The conversations barely discussed the plot and instead spent the full two hours dissecting bits of dialogue and shaming the characters. The toxicity of the fandom has fully bled into the coverage and it hit a point where I was dreading having to start a new episode. Unfortunately, the need to please and/or not piss off varying subsets of the fandom became the third person in the room. In sum, this went from fun, book club vibes, to airing out personal grievances against fictional characters. And worse, the discussions became incredibly inequitable, giving certain characters the benefit of the doubt or overlooking sects of unfavorable dialogue, but holding other characters to higher standards or ignoring (or not caring about) important context. Listening became incredibly miserable and truthfully just uncomfortable- like I was listening to fictional characters be scolded like children. I’m sad but there are plenty of competing podcasts who are more fair and don’t act with an air of moral superiority.

One of the best!
Honestly, listening to these two sisters talk about the books I love is the best part of my day. They draw you in with their fantasy lore, character analysis, and insights into foreshadowing, but they keep me coming back and listening because of their banter. You can tell they love what they do and I am so happy that they have made it their livelihood because it means my drives to and from work are that much better! Thanks Lexie and Nicole!

Lexi & Nicole could be my best friends
Episode 3 of the Heat of the Everflame Deep Dive is so far my absolute favorite. The fact that Nicole would DIE ON THE LUTHER HILL ON PURPOSE soothes my hurt heart, and I refuse Lexi’s logic irrationally and forever.

The BEST fantasy podcast!
I come from a world of news outlets and reality tv podcasts. I picked up FFG during Onyx Storm because I finished the book before my friends and ended up going onto binge listen to EVERY EPISODE. Finish an entire series before you listen, or at least what’s published, because while there are spoilers, FFG comes up with the BEST theories and the funniest bets on them. I’ve tried other fantasy podcasts and they’re fine, but the energy of FFG is unmatched and sometimes I find myself bored with some lower energy podcasts. I swear I packed, moved, and unpacked my entire home while catching up on FFG and YOU SHOULD TO! When I knew Kindred’s Curse was the next deep dive, I immediately picked up those books so I could keep up with this podcast, and they NEVER disappoint with selections or deep dives. I’ll take more 3 hour episodes, please and thanks! Oh, and more book recommendation podcasts please!

Lexi and Nicole are my favs
Love this podcast so much. If you have a book hangout you NEED to listen to their podcast. The deep dives are so fun and great to listen to before a re-read. It also makes the characters that much more real. Can’t say enough about it. Truly the greatest🫶
