My favorite podcast ever!
I love this podcast! I work in tech and have always been fascinated by darker side of the internet. The stories told and guests featured here are varied in subject matter as well as which side of the proverbial fence the guest might find themselves standing on - which I love. Getting a window into the mind of a hacker or a pen-tester is not an opportunity one has often, and it’s FASCINATING! The pacing of the show is great, the music is awesome and the production value is TOP NOTCH. And Jack just has a way of seeming at once like an expert in the field but also like a bystander who’s just as floored as I am by what he’s being told. Knowledgeable, but grounded. I also love that he lets the story be told, but will sometimes cut in, often to echo the same things I’m thinking while listening - like “THIS IS CRAZY!” or “They did WHAT?!” It feels like I’m listening to a crazy story with a friend, even though I’m alone in my car. Haha. Jack can explain complicated technical concepts in a way that anyone can understand, which is truly a gift in itself. I’ve been a fan since the very first episode (when my tech career was just getting started) and I STILL get excited when I see a new episode has been published. I’ve learned a lot from this podcast over the years! I’m always recommending it and don’t expect to stop anytime soon. If you’re interested in technology, security, hacking or even just internet lore - this podcast does NOT disappoint.

Love this show!
I love podcasts, but don’t think I’ve written a review before. This pod is so good though. The stories are so compelling, fascinating, and well paced. Jack, gotta say the ones with your dad are among my favorites. He is so fun! The KFC “tv” story? Priceless. Im not a tech expert, just a basic enthusiast and you make the show accessible for everyone. I cannot recommend this podcast enough!

epic quality and content
wholly nonplussed to know there’s only one guy, jack rhysider, producing, cradle to grave, the every episode. researching, interviewing, recording, editing, etc. one exception, someone dope spins the music. i’ve heard eight episodes so far. towering, mind blowing stories. all meet or exceed the content and production value of podcasts like radiolab, selected shorts, this american life, criminal, etc. those shows have small production armies. i’ve been listening to podcasts for a decade and have never considered subscribing or donating. darknet will be the first. fr.

Exceptional
Top tier production, content, and delivery. Personally would like to see more stories narrated by Jack about events. Obviously don’t reduce quality, but would love to see content more frequently.

Security and Cyber Crime stories
Jack generally puts together an interesting story with back story and interviews generally around one topic. As a CIO, I’m always interested in cyber security. This podcast is more about the human element than the dry tech details and Jack Rhysider does a great job!

Just lying guests
This is full of guests who just lie. When a guest constantly smacks and says “um;” they’re lying. Plenty of ads as well. What a disappointment.

Why do programmers wear glasses? Because they can’t C#
Every episode is a new story, from phone phreaking to bank heists to criminals, this show never ceases to teach me something new about the dark side of the internet. Some of my favorite episodes are the ones on pen testing, Anom, and the world of fake degrees.

one of the best podcasts on the internet!
I LOVE Darknet Diaries! Even as someone who isn’t particularly well up on hacking and cybersecurity this podcast is so enjoyable and entertaining! I also really appreciate how Jack promotes privacy and security while staying completely non political.

The hacker mind
This podcast covers every kind of hacking imaginable: identity theft, teenage hackers breaching game studio networks to steal unreleased games just so they could play them, counterfeiting, social engineering, scamming the Puerto Rican lottery, and so much more. Listen to a few episodes, and you will begin to understand how the hacker’s mind works.

Love it
It’s a great podcast and i love the stories. I’ve been looking for a podcast about hacking and tech and most are hard to follow but he explains everything amazingly and even if I didn’t know that much about hacking and tech I would be able to understand everything. Great podcast

Igor (The Spy episode) and now Mobman 2. Genius stuff.

Who is this podcast for?
The description of this podcast makes it seems like it will be about the dark materials of the dark web and such but nope, it is really just about hacking. So this podcast is about hacking jobs and crimes. But they are not aimed at general listeners. They go too in depth at the logistics of said hacking so the normal everyday person will not fully understand. But the host talks in a “scary” tone so he is not aiming at the hackers and specialists. So why should anyone listen to this podcast?

Bangladesh
Hi Jack, love your show, huge fan, all the way from Bangladesh. I just wanted to let you know, remember the now apparent hack on the Bangladesh central bank that North Korea did? Apparently it was entirely a sham, apparently bad actors from within the government stole money from itself. You can get in touch with the man who investigated the entire incident, his name is Tanvir hasan Joha! Also the there was a mass uprising in Bangladesh recently during which we had an total internet blackout for 4 days straight. Which was also a sham sold to us in the name of a terrorist attack which cut our inbound internet cables. Anyways, thank you again for all the stories, interviews and opinions.

Crypto, free speech & privacy absolutism
I followed this podcast for a while. It was somewhat entertaining (if cumbersome to listen to) when it covered crime as crime, but it quickly stopped being so when the host started taking the side of money launderers. This is not an “ambiguous” question as he claims, the question is clear. You cannot claim you run a laundering service and say “ah, it’s not for criminals”. It is all the more ironic that he uses countrues like Russia as a proof that we need crypto tumblers. My friend, by far the biggest users of your crypto tumblers at massive scale *are the governments*. And they do it to finance violence, bypass sanction, mainrain own power, further oppress its own people and wage wars. If you used that laundering service yourself for neutral purposes, that is a drop in the ocean, but your misplaced crusade undermines the only way to stop it peacefully (sanctions). Yes, if you are a fan of crypto, your transactions are public. That is the point of public ledger. If you don’t like that, then don’t use crypto. His free speech absolutism is just cherry on the top. In a civilized society, free speech is never truly unconditional. For a more balanced take on crime on the Internet (just sans interviews with actual criminals), try Risky Biz.

Dubsnatch was my first experience with this podcast. Fascinating story told in a wonderful way with great narrative/commentary.
Robbobak
Re: Dubsnatch
Dubstep often includes high-pitched, modulated sounds that might remind you of dolphin noises because of the heavy use of digital sound manipulation techniques, particularly through synthesizers and effects like pitch shifting and frequency modulation. Producers in the genre frequently experiment with unusual, high-frequency sounds to create the energetic and unique soundscapes that dubstep is known for. These effects can sometimes result in sounds that resemble dolphin calls, adding to the genre’s distinctive, often otherworldly, auditory experience.
