My favorite!
Other podcasts try to imitate, but they’ll never be Dark Downeast!

Murder of Joan Wertkin
So sad that someone was driven to end a life like this.

I’m sorry, what? You want anyone with details about the murder of Lucia Kai Roberts to call the people that murdered her?

Too much competing music
I like this podcast; please stop playing music while you and your guests are speaking so I can continue listening, for me the music is really distracting and detracts from what you’re saying.

Overall entertaining.
I love the length of the podcasts and the podcaster’s delivery and subject matter. It does sound at like times like she’s pushing an agenda but overall entertaining listen.

Who cranked up the SPEED of her voice???
I don’t think this is the natural speed of Kylie Low’s voice. The playback is so fast that it is hard to listen to, and the story gets lost. It is an unnatural speed. Not everyone needs to speak at hyper speed.

love the east coat theme
new to the show, love the idea of listening to crime from a local area of East Coast. Being from New Jersey, I would love to hear more stories from the lower of the 13 colonies😅

Meh
As an avid podcast listener, I started listening to this one after it was advertised on crime junkie. It’s fine when I’ve listened to everything else in my feed. However, the occasional political commentary annoys me as well as the demonization of the suspects or defendants in the angelic way that the victims are portrayed.

While I love DDE, AOM scandal and lawsuit highlight shady and deceptive dealings by audiochuck.
I will no longer support anything audiochuck. Unsubscribing to all of their podcasts.

Very informative and respectful podcast. The storytelling is very intriguing. Definitely one of my favorites out there.

Overly Dramatic Delivery
The delivery got better, more confident for a bit, but now, I get the feeling she’s trying to audition asKeith Morrison’s more melodramatic replacement on Dateline. Every victim lights up a room, is a perfect parent, devoted child, besotted spouse, they helped everyone, etc. When she’s talking about the crime the dramatic tone of voice is just a little too much.

Audiochuck
This show was better before Audiochuck got involved. I’m unfollowing all of their shows after what happened to AOM

Dark Downeast is a respectful podcast regarding true crime stories.
This podcaster does a phenomenal job of respecting the victims and their families as she tells their stories with integrity and kindness. I just listened to a podcast about Lizzie whose life was taken by a greedy, self-serving man and his girlfriend. It broke my heart, but. It’s a story that needs to be hurt. I’m listening from Washington State and I am certain that Chuck would approve. 🐾
Dog Hollow
Slow down please..
Wish she could please talk a bit slower & the high beat music in the back is distracting from the story to me? Could lower the music and take some pauses or talk at a rate where you’re giving info you want someone to fully envision…

Boring
I almost fell asleep while listening. Host has too calming of a voice

Respectful and Researched
I absolutely adore this podcast. The host does an incredible job at telling her stories, and I love the amount of care and thought put into each episode. Getting the family’s consent is so important, and I love the way it follows up on cases when new information is laid out!

Unsubscribing from all Audiochuck podcasts because of their business practices
Audiochuck has a ton of podcasts and the absolute best of them is Anatomy of Murder. But Audiochuck has screwed the hosts of that show out of their rightful share so I’ll be following Annasigga and Scott and unfollowing all Audiochuck podcasts. No great loss as they are nowhere near as good as Anatomy of Murder.

Broken Calcaneus
Too Much Fluff & filler sometimes. Good podcast, though.
You can tell she really has grown in her profession in the years she’s had her podcast. More to the point and she speaks more confidently.
Sometimes I’m trying to hear a story and then it spins off to the point I’m not sure if I’m listening to the same thing or it moved onto another irrelevant topic. Another thing is how much the exact same introduction is repeated all through the episode. I keep thinking I restarted the episode. I get saying returning to the story of “relevant info” it’ll be the same intro
I think she’s good, but too much extra stuff.

True Crime at it’s Best
As a MA resident, I love that this podcast is centered around New England. It’s evident that Kylie cares about these cases as she’s always so well prepared and her research is very thorough.

Good stories but needs editing
I enjoy most of the stories told, but find there is a lot of fluff in each episode. The excessive flowery language building up the story can be frustrating and doesn’t add to the story for me personally. Also the volume on this show is always off for me and I have to turn it way up to hear the host but then other parts are loud in that case - I think this is a production issue.

Almost 5/5
I love hearing the victims’ families voices in true crime podcasts. However, I feel like it’s awkward and forced here. Either go full investigative journalist or don’t interview at all and stick to narrator telling the story, which I also enjoy.

Rating for all podcasts, not just DDE
I like this show but good GOD! The amount of ads for a 30-35 minute (or any show) is just insane! Every 5 minutes there is a 1.5-2 minute commercial break! It’s extremely annoying!

I love this podcast. I love true crime, and the way the host tells the story wraps you in like a hug. She is so respectful of the victim, family, law enforcement, judicial system (even when there are questionable outcomes), and I appreciate not every other word is “like” and random banter.

One of my Favorites!
This podcast is my go-to when I’m working around the house. Kylie does a fantastic job of telling the stories of the victims. I appreciate the way she honors the victims and how she doesn’t want them forgotten. 10/10

Great show, very respectful
I’m a new listener from MN and I wanted to say that I love how respectful and truly caring Kylie is for the victims. She humanizes and defends them and I love that so much.

What’s going on?
The narrator’s voice is Brezzi and soft and the cadence seems artificially slow. Seems like a combination of reading a bedtime story to a young child combined with a robotic voice.
Don’t know if she writes the scripts or if there’s a different person for that, but I find their them to be difficult to follow. There is an abundance of information and storytelling that is not necessary to the presentation of the mystery/crime north of the solving of it. It doesn’t seem to be for prose purposes, and it doesn’t seem to be just tangent from the host. They’re just irrelevant stories.

The BEST!
Absolutely the best True Crime Podcast. I used to be a diehard Crime Junkie fan But Ashley and Britt are now biased and push their political agenda along with bashing men. I listen to podcasts to get away from all the political unrest in this world today and Kylie Low is just that! She keeps to the story and does excellent journalism. I look forward to new episodes every week while building houses 🔨

I grew up with this family. I hope they get answers soon and someone comes forward with the truth. 20 plus years is too long for a mother to go without knowing what happened to her child, adopted or not Michelle loved each one of those kids!!

Just found it!!
I just came across this podcast like 2 days ago and already like 8 podcasts in!! She tells detailed stories, in my opinion, not too much, but enough that you get a clear picture in your head of the case, and absolutely shows love, respect, and an advocate for the victims and their families . All in all, I’m loving it, and love her story telling!
t4titans
why does she speak that way?
this is a serious question and not meant to be mean, but i dunno why she speaks like that … it’s so nasally, contrived, and distracting from what is an otherwise great podcast. i find myself being distracted 15 minutes in on most of her episodes. i think im hate following now and should stop.

Chuck approves
This podcast lets us hear about cases in the downeast region. I didn’t know New England was called that and I am curiously intrigued about what else is different about the area. It’s so interesting that the area has less people and law enforcement than I would have expected. Hearing about the uncleared cases and victim’s families waiting for justice is hard to reconcile with. Hopefully IGG can solve the cases. Anywho keep on keeping on. BTW I like hearing the recommendations from a fellow parent. The guy who doesn’t like it can skip the ads. Smh

Great podcast
No clue what folks are talking about, the audio quality is perfectly normal?
Overall great podcast, especially love to listen in fall.

No one cares about your kid
I’d have given more stars but I constantly am forced to listen to obnoxious anecdotes about the host’s annoying child, not only during the show, but during the ads too. How many times do we have to hear, “as a mom”, “since I became a mom”…?
I wish people with podcasts would get the hint that no one wants to hear about their spunk muppets. No one cares.

Title the 2 part episodes please
I love everything about your podcast the area, your voice and style but I can’t stand getting to the end of an episode only then to find out i have to wait till next week for a part two. I don’t mind waiting and I enjoy longer stories but please let us know in the title, a simple Part 1 will do, for the ones who want to wait till part 2 is out then listen to both. This is the second time it’s happened and it pains me to unfollow. I’ll maybe be back in a few months and I hope you’ll sort this deception out but until then best of luck.

Voice isn’t made for podcasting
Maybe she’s good at reporting the news, but not narrating an entire victim story. Her voice is just too monotone and sounds like it’s about to break. I don’t like small talk, but prefer a voice like someone is sitting right across from me telling the story (like Ashley, Brit, or Delia). I wish I could get on board, tried many times. Big audiochuck fan usually. *** stop using audio 911 calls that aren’t good quality. I can’t stand listening to 5 min of static and garble- have some awareness about this and how listeners feel having it value out their speakers.

Why
Why post 911 audio of it’s as bad as it was on the Leslie Buck episode …
my_name_is_LC
Specific 8/28/25 feedback
I CANNOT understand the audio for the Leslie Buck episode. PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE INAUDIBLE AND EXTREMELY NOISY AUDIO. Please just READ THE TRANSCRIPT INSTEAD OF MAKING THIS AUDIO EXPERIENCE UNBEARABLE.
Otherwise I like the podcast, but please make better choices of including old audio.
Mermanda!
From recent times to decades gone by…
Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire…Downeast, in other words. The stories of murdered and missing that you’ve not heard elsewhere. Cold cases that need attention are told in a compelling fashion with input by family and law enforcement. Her voice is very pleasant too. Try this podcast out- lots of backlog to binge on. I am still working through it and loving it.

Best true crime
Kylie tells stories with much respect and empathy to those taken too soon or still missing. This is my favorite podcast.

Presque Isle Episode
Compared to the rest of Aroostook County, PI is a city, calling it a small town is strange. It is definitely not a Portland, but it is called “The City of Presque Isle”. Makes me question your research calling it small town since a quick google search would tell you otherwise. Even back in 1998 they had a booming economy with the air base, UMPI, the mall and a generally larger population. Yes, everyone knows everyone’s business, but it is not Mapleton nor Easton. Please do your research!

Skip the politics
I enjoy the stories but I feel there is too much of a politically liberal POV. It’s a turn off and I’ve skipped several episodes because it became too much.

Your voice is so soothing. Thank you for bringing attention to these cases!! I just finished Shawn O’Brein. My heart breaks for these families. 🦞

These awful true stories are told with such care and heart. Most bring me to tears. I started at the very beginning and just finished Kathy Frost Larson. Thank you for the gentle way in which you make sure the victims and their families are not forgotten ❤️

Love This Podcast!!!
I heard about Dark Downeast from Crime Junkie, and I am so happy that I decided to give it a chance. The way these stories are told makes me have a visual of who they are and how they acted. It makes them so much more than what their ending was. That is what I enjoy the most about this podcast.
