All Brains, no Heart
I listened to the Unraveling the Telepathy Tapes episode and wanted to learn more about facilitated communication from another perspective.
That led me to a documentary called Spellers that follows non-speaking autistic individuals who use spelling to communicate. You can actually see real footage of people using letter boards.
I’m guessing the guys on this podcast will dismiss this documentary because it doesn’t prove that it works with the correct scientific tests, and also because it is associated with JB Handley, but this documentary does not mention vaccines once and there are plenty of examples of non-speakers spelling so you can judge for yourself whether you think a scientific study is necessary to prove this is real or not.
You can watch it for free on YouTube - Spellers the Movie…
Don’t believe everything you hear on this podcast. Sure, they’ll protect you from spiritual snake oil, but don’t expect warmth, humility, or soul. The Cult of Cold Reason doesn’t do mystery. Boring!

They have done their homework
This podcast has well researched information with a strong viewpoint that helps see through the vails that are being used so readily all around us. It is very helpful. They explain why they have come to
Their opinions and they hope we will use our powers of discernment as well.

Come on, guys
A show on the topic of conspirituality is much needed in this world now but the tone these guys often take is often snarky and sneering. Worse, when they offer some critiques, like “Is Erica Chenoweth a willing lapdog to status quo liberalism and capitalist power?” they seem to be engaging in cheap click bait as she herself has complicated the issue and clarified her claims. Come on, guys, don’t make the world worse right now. Can you see the number of interested and reasonable people saying the same as me???????

Braindead
A very unthoughtful podcast that asks the question: “how can we ignore the mystery in life and get people all believing in consensus reality which has served us so well?” The both-sides take on the genocide in Gaza was just icing on the cake.

I only hate listen
Word salads to sound smart. Critiques anything right leaning or male oriented. Offers no solution. Its just right and straight male hate group of gays. They excuse anything bad coming from any other group no matter how absurd.

Really?
Globalize the intifada literally just means rise up against oppression worldwide, liberals like y’all are not going to shame us into pretending you can redefine Arabic words WITH DEFINITIONS ALREADY because it will offend some zionists. The analysis on this show is already shallow but I listened because it’s sometimes interesting, however I can no longer listen to this islamophobic racist drivel.
Almost had it !!!!
Disappointing spin over substance
I wanted to like Conspirituality for its promise to unpack conspiracies with intellectual clarity, but it falls short. The hosts lean on flashy, sophisticated vocabulary to project authority, which feels more like a tactic to sound superior than to inform. They often fall into a ‘straw man fallacy’ approach that distorts the original point to make their “debunking” seem clever, but it often sacrifices accuracy. Despite marketing itself as unbiased and analytical, the podcast often pushes opinionated narratives, undermining its credibility. If you’re looking for precise, fair critique, you might find this more performative than enlightening.

Bummed about Telepathy Tapes episode
This podcast is normally good, but they were shortsighted with the telepathy tapes episode and it makes me feel more critical of their other episodes. I am not saying TT was perfect and correct, but firmly saying that these people are all duped without (a) consulting autistic people or (b) consulting a speech language pathologist is not great. There are autistic people who have learned to communicate using FC; to erase them is unconscionable. Yes, there are people who have taken advantage of autistics and influenced what they have to say, and yes, there are some (flawed) studies showing it doesn’t work. But it’s negligible to not mention that many people who now use AAC started with FC, and it’s negligible to not mention the study that shows eye movement tracking with FC, showing autonomy with communication. Conspirituality also, while being critical of episode 10 and what they dismiss as not the voices of these young adults, makes no mention of the very genuine voice of Mia, a teenager in the first episode. They don’t address that many of the autistic people in the show are not facilitated by their parent. In attempting to (at times quite condescendingly) “protect” non speaking people, they silence them further by dismissing their voices. Yes, some people scam with FC, but it doesn’t mean that anyone who uses typing to communicate is not actually communicating.

I listen to hear another point of view
I would count myself as the crunchy hippie since college that believes in organic food and naturopathic medicine. And that is now considered the conspiracy theorist side. These 3 are stuck in the victimhood lifestyle that further divided our country. I keep waiting for them to convince me how MAHA is wrong, but they haven’t. Same reasonings, still not convincing.

Disappointed
Few times in history is a show like this more necessary - listeners turn to this pod for hope - and yet has little on the LA and No Kings Day protests.

Best podcast, must listen
I have been listening to this podcast every day since December, starting at the beginning of the show in 2020 right as Covid was in full swing. It has been fascinating hearing their accuracy in predictive insights regarding our current situation socially and politically. As a cult survivor myself, I have deeply appreciated these voices of reason and thoughtful, well-researched pieces regarding a plethora of topics that are sorely misunderstood and conflated in certain circles.
Thank you Derek, Julian, and Matthew! It has brought me comfort knowing you are doing this work to dive deep and dispel the nonsense that often goes unchecked in the new age world.

Vegetarianism
I also unsuccessfully lived as a vegetarian, and gave it up, but after 8 years vegan, I now know it was my incapacity to eat a balanced diet that was the issue. Meat necessity is magical thinking and contrary to scientific evidence, which indicates numerous benefits of a plant based lifestyle, not just to our own health, but that if the wider ecosystem (most soy is fed to cattle fyi). Otherwise, a great show.

Cancer complexity & playing with grand scams.
Really important discussion of the cons and that antidote exceptions does not mean one approach best for all cancers.
I have higher risk for melanoma than most others. Last one found followed few rules to explain. It was a Stage IV, M1a. I didn’t incorporated any specific wellness or medical treatments. 10 years later I am still cancer free. Could say rare from survival table data.
Should I get my own radio program of living non-wellness approach to cancer cure? It has been good for me and cheaper and less demanding of other cure options. Avoided standard medical or wellness advice as my “cure”.
Didn’t need help of either camp. People can fall on extremes of spread of any cancer response. I was very lucky. Neither extreme of spectrum wants to hear this.
For me, it was right decision because list of existing chronic problems. Otherwise, rich, healthy, young person, with children might want to consider other approaches. Need good info to make good decisions like you are attempting to do.

Hello
I do support-as in pay! For this as, being a rarer listener who DOES believe in things that can’t be measured weighed or easily explained. Yet I have seen the abuse conspiracies & insanity grow over the years- & tough “ pit bulls” are needed here. Still, you do test me at times- going after “ the Courage to Heal” for example & I’ve not listened yet but, with all going in are you really going after the “ Sound of Music??” It’s like attacking a kitten! Still I hang in there with you as some of your pieces have been brilliant & I believe you’re needed.

Abundance
I appreciated you covering as your client’s book. But I just got done reading Jason Hickel’s book on degrowth and I don’t think your analysis of it is accurate. He advocated for consumption to actually increase in the global south and decrease in the global north. There was no argument that across the board. All humans needed to decrease consumption. It was all about quality of life increases and a decrease in inequality. The idea that technology will save us from climate change and is the only option, because we will never stop consuming is a very simplistic and frankly, dangerous mentality. I wish you would read the book.

Adolescents episode review
Really appreciate your take on Adolescents — very unique and insightful. Thanks for sharing. Quick constructive criticism — at 44:03 one of you uses “female” as a noun instead of using the word “woman.” A seemingly innocuous mistake but is a bit dehumanizing, and is also noteworthy because there is not consistent usage of the word “male” in a similar way. Just wanted to put that on your radar. :)

Makes you consider your biases
I don’t always agree what what they’re saying, but I do really value their thoughtful take on a lot of topics. I do love that they are very aware of the dangers of group think and for lack of a better word propaganda/marketing. The most recent episode about this Netflix show called adolescence. Which I have not watched yet except for the first episode. It was very insightful. And that he found that the producers or writers the show don’t remember which one really didn’t look into what’s happening to kids and was really anti-public school. Blatantly sharing this narrow understanding in the show. This truly is the biggest problem of our time right now and probably of all time. People thinking and wanting comfort in easy answers that align with their experiences. It’s uncomfortable being in that difficult gray and to know there are NO easy answers. But if we are aware in which others are being black and white in their thinking. A

Present-day holocausts and those who commit them
Now’s the time to cover one of the most insidious, powerful and dangerous ideologies of the modern era - Zionism - from a cult and conspirituality perspective. Seems like one of the most pressing topics you could cover right now. If you’re hesitant to do so, please take some time to interrogate why.

Thank you so much for your review of The Telepathy Tapes! As someone who is known many nonverbal autistics over the years, your podcast outlined every concern I had about that series and did it with care and eloquence.

Absolute Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing
Where do I even begin? The ideology offered by this group is incredibly biased at best and maliciously manipulative at worst. The show appears to be run by arrogant hipster types who are desperately trying to stay relevant by publicly shaming anyone and everyone within the natural health community. Their lies by omission become abundantly clear as modern medicine is painted as the heroic savior of humanity, regardless of any corruption or ineffectiveness; and ANY alternative medicine is seen as a shameful scam regardless of its existing evidence base and propensity to help others thrive where conventional medicine has failed. These unsavory individuals prey on far-leftists who are seeking to appear intellectually and morally upright by convincing them that LITERAL DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS are the worst thing to ever happen to humanity, while turning a blind eye to the serious corruption and endless criminal behavior that exists within the pharmaceutical industry. Just for the record, a search for ‘supplementation’ via the sciencedirect database will yield one million results to date, an undeniable sign that supplementation is not “anti-science.” The folks running this podcast ironically spread harmful misinformation by convincing their audience that western medicine is the only proper way to maintain one’s health. An additional irony exists when one considers that this mindset reflects the ideology of scientism, which is also QUITE cult-like. The hypocrisy is endless.
As a PhD candidate in research myself, all I can say is DO NOT SUBSCRIBE to this distorted and incredibly biased smear campaign against holistic medicine. As I’ve witnessed firsthand, these healing modalities can indeed be lifesaving.

Usually love -- but have to disagree with Telepathy Tape episode
I listened to the entire telepathy tapes series and I also listen to Conspirituality on a bi-weekly s. This was the first time I felt like the guys totally missed the point and didn't actually listen to the entire series and episodes. It's less about the spelling and more about the telepathy. Even if the facilitator is doing the typing -- how would they all be able to answer unanswerable questions?

Thank you . I feel validated.
Love your show. I am listening to the latest one. I tried to listen to the Telepathy tapes after a few friends found it “ inspiring” and every time I tried got so creeped out. I wondered why? I still don’t know why I feel creeped out as a reaction.
I was in a few cults myself back in the day. Not anymore. (An Indian Guru, a Peruvian guru and too many Kundalini classes at one point.)
Maybe I wont ever know why it creeps me out these days and then some people love to think in the magical ways still. I just feel “ icky “ these days listening to Telepathy tapes and things like that. Thanks for your show.

The Podcast That Hooked Me On Podcasts
What to add that hasn't already been said? During shutdown I checked out this pod based on a recommendation in the NY Times and it's been a source of solace and knowledge since. Every week these 3 gentlemen engage in a conversation based in reason, objectivity, kindness, mutual respect and thorough research on some of the most urgent topics we face in this challenging time.
Though all 3 met thru the yoga world, each brings with them a unique perspective and voice. I can't really pick favorites, though I have been particularly enjoying Derek Beres' briefs of late.
Still one of the great podcasts in my opinion!

Excellent
These hosts are very introspective. I love that. Not afraid to really analyze an issue from all sides. This is what philosophy (epistemology - specifically) demands to find the ultimate truth. Fantastic podcast.

What America Needs
We need more scrutiny with all the grifters and conspiracy theories so damaging to our country. People just go so far on inciting fear in anger that gets them likes and sales it’s very problematic and I appreciate listening to some common sense.

thank you for “relief project” episodes
Long time listener and enjoyer of the podcast. I really want to thank the guys for recently creating the relief project episodes. I hope this miniseries continues because it’s just as impactful, if not more, as discussing the problems of our times. It has been a reminder to me of our own agency and ability to create solutions and community, and to not give up hope. It has been very helpful when I could otherwise spiral into despair. Thank you! :)

Incredibly important knowledge to arm yourself with in this age of New Age social panics
The hosts break down lots of different events and actors in the New Age market segment (eg. Yogis, self improvement influencers, supplement pushers) and put them in a context of the historical actions, the social circles, and the (lack of) proof for the wild claims many of these actors make. The hosts include former cult members and New Age participants who now see that science is the most reliable way to verify truth, not listening to charismatic sales people while they hawk their wares.

Research means fully investigating both sides. RFK Jr knows both the root of our chronic illness epidemic and the solutions. He’s been successful at effectively addressing it for 40 years. These guys don’t seem to have medical backgrounds or parenting experience. Or maybe they do, and their kids will pay the price of their perspective.

It all the fault of the right…
This podcast says some good things, however illustrates the problems with polarized thinking. Truth is there is a lot of stupidity in the world, but saying it is all the fault of the people to the right of center is not accurate. Truth is, there are a lot of misguided people in the world; misguided people on place along the political spectrum. In my opinion, the worst ideas are from those on BOTH extremes of the political spectrum. I find it interesting that they assert “new age wellness guru’s” to be right wingers. My experience indicates these people are more often on the left wing than anywhere else. The hosts seem to have an “I am educated” arrogance common to many in the Ivory Tower that THINK they have the world figured out but don’t.

Conspirituality
Can’t even get beyond the intro. So full of themselves and their “save the world from conspiracies “ complex. If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. How about real depth of understanding and nuanced opinion. Yes, there are malignant narcissists leading cults…and some fool you guys too. You insult critical thinking and anyone willing to check whatever your particular bias is. And now, mostly a political shill for the Democrats.

Artful and articulate
These guys are a masters of rhetorical articulation... but with third grade abstract thinking abilities.
It’s laughable when they take on health and science topics as though they know anything about physiology and biochemistry. It’s kinda laughable that they get so snarky about non-experts being pundits when that’s exactly what they’re doing. Ummm… where are your scientific references?
Derek is so full of hate and arrogance. Hatred and arrogance is what’s wrong with the world. Ironically, a podcast with this topic should be safeguarding us from this very thing we are being exposed to. The podcast is polarized and divisive and breeds contempt and more polarization. They've shown me exactly why people believe the things they believe. It's not love, compassion, or logic. It's narcissistic supremacy.
Give me the assumptive license they take with their targets’ intentions and I’ll conjecture that Derek is jealous of those successful gurus who actually have a following. When he failed in gaining a yoga cult for himself he decided to lash back and create an anti-cult show as a platform to showcase his keen intelligence. It’s got all things ingredients of a super villain origin story.
But the contradiction in their messaging is what blows my mind. The main assumption and premise of the podcast is the conviction that "conspiring" isn't something humans actually do. Conspiracy (and by extension, conspiracy theories) is a fabrication made up by paranoid, uneducated imbeciles who are usually power hungry.
But then, when you listen to their arguments against evil anti-establishment "gurus," suddenly the idiotic, power-hungry gurus are credited with all sorts of intricate, methodical, and consciously-initiated conspiratorial methods to mislead the public for personal gain and aggrandizement.
So, actually, they do believe people conspire. At least the cult leaders, non-mainstream medical theories, and non-mainstream politicians do.
And yet, all the while the implication is that somehow the current left wing mainstream narrative and powers that be are beyond reproach and incapable of deception—let alone conspiracy. Greed and conspiracies by big corporations and power structures are shrugged off as either miniscule or out of the ordinary, while those not in power but reaching for it are absolutely off their rockers. And I guess this is ostensibly because of—you know—"science." (Which, by the way, as a scientist myself I'd be embarrassed for their lack of understanding of biology and statistics except for the fact that their word mastery is so impressive. So they sound like they know what they're talking about. They don't.)
I like it when they invite guests to the show who challenge their polarized hate speech. Because when it's just them talking, it's a circle jerk of arrogant, over-confident haters. Hard to endure, let alone enjoy.
All in all, the podcast contains broadly researched—but not deeply researched—drivel spouting off status quo messaging that's more of a masturbatory show than anything truly useful.

At times the moderators make sense but there is a clear agenda and bias after listening to a few episodes. They are very closed minded and have little evidence for some of their positions so this is basically editorial and opinion.

Fallen off
Having melted into antisemitism and full of anti Israel conspiracies these guys are now arguing with each other over who is more self righteous about Gaza. It’s weird and sad.
And they can’t discuss anything without devolving into lunacy, rambling incoherently about genocide over and over and over. I counted them say GENOCIDE 12 times in about 3 minutes.
Well past expiration date, show’s fetid.
