Thrilling
I thoroughly enjoy these!!! You know, you (I’m addressing Tony directly) mention people complaining about various things about your reading. I don’t get it. Don’t listen to them! You’re great!

Do yourself a favor and just listen…these eerie tales will stick with you; I have listened to many of them multiple times. Perfect narration!

This Podcast is 5 Stars Plus
Mr Walker sources the stories and they are 5 Star stories. He plans and creates the production by himself and they are 5 Star productions. Finally he narrates and performs the production as a Podcast. So this podcast is 5 stars.

My favorite podcast!
Easily the best podcast show for classic horror stories! I love the storytelling, and appreciate the commentary at the end - both entertaining and educational. This is the only podcast I’m willing to pay for, and for me it’s worth it to support this kind of quality.

Another classic tale perfectly told!
I am always listening to these stories and the commentary after because,I find that the stories are great, and Tony’s comments are interesting. I have a pup named Jasper, and the travails of Tony’s puppy saddened me, but I am glad that he is getting around on 3 legs! Thanks for everything!
RCraig
These are interesting stories and beautifully read.
I also enjoy the commentary.

Bedtime treat
Great old stories told with the quintessential British style. Ad placement at the end of the episode will jolt you awake though.

Classic stories, finely told
This series is very well done: high quality stories, spooky intro music, excellent reading, followed by enjoyable commentary and musings at the end

Consistently great reading
I enjoy this podcast more and more with each additional story. Production quality is high and the attention to detail is obvious. Just signed up for the very modest monthly fee.

He quit
Dude just quit doing any stories for free at all. He only does pay stories now. On principle alone I will not listen anymore. Why did you quit?

ideal eerie story narration!
an incredibly good podcast; the host has possibly the best voice for ghost stories I'ce ever heard. The mood is quiet and creepy, but in a lovely sedate way and the editing and sound design are very well done. Best of all, no preamble it just jumps right into the story! Great evening wind-down spooky story cast. The stories are almost all classic literature of some sort, and the discussions at the end are often very interesting, though rambling. I fear the musings, literary analysis, and author info have continued to point me towards new favorite books squeezing into my shelves, including a couple of the host's own short story collections.

Tony’s gift
This is a gorgeous storytelling podcast of chilling tales and an equally intriguing host, Tony Walker! We are treated to Tony’s works, highly imaginative tales, also! I was drawn in by Tony’s voice but was hooked by this artfully curated selection of stories that would have been told around the fire during a Victorian Christmas, mostly! Thank you, Tony for this absolute treasure.

Stunk too much description of the forest, the trees the flowers etc.

I absolutely love this podcast!
I am a photographer whose busiest season is September/October, right during spooky season. I love all things spooky, but am so busy this time of year I don’t really get to do any fun Halloween related activities, so being able to put on this podcast and listen to well written and well performed stories is a gift while I’m editing mountains of photos.

A pleasure
Tony has a lovely voice and he's a great reader. Not too fussy or overacted. But PLEASE, don't do the American accent. You're terrible at it.

Absolutely great
I love the monologues about the stories and authors. There’s a tone that preserves thehistorical sublime.

A great listen for anyone
Just about anyone would enjoy this podcast. The stories are brilliant and fun and interesting, and the nattering chat at the end always makes me feel as though I am sat in a warm quaint parlor somewhere, having a conversation with Tony over tea and cookies. Lastly, as a North American, I would like to personally attest to the authenticity and integrity of his American accent. That is not all, but these reviews can’t be too long. Just do yourself and your loved ones a favor and subscribe.

Fantastic Listen
I consume a lot of fiction podcasts, mostly science fiction and horror, and was absolutely chuffed when I stumbled on this labor of love. Tony us a fantastic narrator, provides post-story insights and personal “incoherent waffle” stream of consciousness that is a real pleasure to listen to. I cannot recommend this podcast more highly - it is truly a fantastic listen. This podcast is clearly a labor of love. Tony saved my sanity during covid lockdown and continues to deliver these great tales told with passion. Sapere aude.

Again! Again!
Great narration and fantastic stories from the last few centuries. I personally love Tony’s original stories—keep it up, Mr. Walker! If you are a collector of so spooky tales, there are some really interesting and obscure stories in addition to the classic Victorian tales. His readings of “Again” by Ramsey Campbell, “The Hospice” by Robert Aickman, and “Street of Crocodiles” by Bruno Schulz are my favorites. “Again! Again!” OH DEAR SWEET GOD SAVE ME FROM THAT TERRIFYING STORY. Anyway, I am a happy subscriber.

Amazing stories and narration
One of the best podcasts for listening to older often overlooked Ghost stories. And I love listening to the Mr. Walker’s thoughts after each story. He provides additional insight into the authors as well as their work. Thank you ☺️

Stories are well selected and excellently read. His 'rambes' are thought provoking. He's a dog lover, what more can be said.

So cool.

Scary rate
The narrator he’s like super good he or she, but by the boys, I think it’s a boy he is awesome every time I hear his stories, the story of themselves as scary, but they still shivers down my spine and here’s the voice. It is so dark. It sounds like he’s in the story. It’s just a scary like I have nightmare from it because it’s so scary but so thrilling at the same time and every single one of them is scarier than the last. Like about the stories like most scary stories are like oh the ghost in the closet was your best friend but now he’s like the ghost in your closet had blood coming out of his thighs and said I want you like that kind of scary I think this is awesome because life isn’t just cupcakes and rainbows. It’s dark and scary sometimes and this guy shows us that life isn’t always happy. That’s why I love his stories They make me so terrified. I break out on gold sweat and they make me feel like I am like being watched. It’s super cold cool sorry 🥶😰😨😱😱😓🫥🫠🫣

Wow! Just wow!
I started listening to this podcast after wondering if my attention span could handle a long ghost story. I’m glad I took the plunge. Wonderful performances of long lost ghost stories that needed resurrection. The somewhat scatterbrained commentary at the end of each episode thankfully doesn’t make me spew my coffee because I listen at bedtime, but it does crack me up. I have a feeling Tony Walker may know how to do the Time Warp.

So good!
This has become one of my favorite podcasts. The host has a perfect voice for ghost stories, and provides insightful discussion afterwards. Top rate all around.

Highest recommendation
Some of the most iconic ghost stories in English literature read by a narrator with the voice of a highly professional actor except when he does a faux American accent. Great for relaxing before bedtime.

Love the bios at the end!
*Update* Tony, I know you're a real person and I love ALL your accents! 🤗 the ghost stories and detective stories narrated by you are so enjoyable. Keep up the good work! *** I have recently discovered this podcast and of course love Tony’s voice and exceptional readings, but I really love the little bios he does about the authors after the stories 🤗 This podcast is so lovely! Keep up the good work!

I used to love this...
So Soothing, Yet So Spooky
I love the narrator’s voice & I really enjoy the commentary/literary review at the end of each episode. Some of the comments are a bit nonsensical and make me chuckle (at one point our beloved narrator contemplates if one author would beat another in a physical fight). However, most of the end comments show a great deal of knowledge and greatly contribute to my enjoyment of the story/genre. I almost wish it was not so soothing, as I love listening to this before bed. This has caused some bad dreams, but I cannot seem to make myself stop…

Love the narrator’s voice and accent. Nice to have a bit of commentary at the end of the stories, too.

A Remarkable Reader
I am a huge fan of the ghost story genre. I was so pleased, then, to find this podcast. Not only are there many unique ghost stories in this collection, clearly chosen with great care, but also Mr Walker is a truly wonderful and careful reader. I have fallen into these stories because of the atmosphere he creates. Cannot recommend enough.

Wonderful readings and your voice is so easy on the ears.

Love Tony and his podcast
The stories Tony picks are always fantastic and his readings are wonderful. He has a great voice and adds flair with a variety of accents. I frequently listen to them multiple times - usually fall asleep listening to one then listen again the next day to hear the whole story. Usually the second half of each episode is Tony talking about the author, the context and meaning of the story - I love these parts as well. Tony is insightful and intelligent - love his closing rants.

So good
I’ve been listening for about a year now. Love the stories and love the way you read. I’ve never been one to listen to commentaries on anything but I’ve found your after read talks just as good as the stories. The stories you write are equally as awesome as the classic writers you showcase. I could go on and on in detail about the podcast. Just to say anyone who isn't listening is missing out. Oh yea I am finally subscribing

Top notch readings of great stories; Tony’s voice

Family of a Vourdalak
Love the way you read this, but must point out that your bio notes were about the wrong A. Tolstoy. You said he was the Bolshevik who died in 1945. The Tolstoy who wrote Vourdalak was the A.K. Tolstoy who was born in 1817 and died in 1875. There’s an out of print book of his creepy stories called Vampires. (Sorry to be pedantic!)

Tony Walker’s podcast is aces
I just found this podcast and I have been listening to it nonstop since. Simple and excellently done. It is just the think for haunting season.

I’ve always loved old/victorian ghost stories and hearing these stories read and then information shared about the authors has been so entertaining! Thank you!

The Classic Ghost Stories
Tony Walker is an ideal narrator of these stories, and a gifted writer himself. The podcast has become such an important part of my evenings that I hope it long continues. I’ve just listened to an old favorite, “Yhe Stalls of Barchester Cathedral,” but he has introduced me to many unfamiliar ones. They’re all the better for being read aloud.

Great production. Great delivery. Great stories.
I have 303 awesome episodes left. At the rate I’m going, I’m never gonna get finished listening to the **best**ghost**story**podcast** on iTunes. Great production. Great delivery. Great story choices. By the time I get done I will be five years behind in all my other podcasts.

So glad i found this
I found this podcast through YouTube and I’m so glad i did. I love being read to while I’m busy cleaning the house, or going for a walk, or falling asleep. Tony’s voice is perfect - inflection, tone, emotion, accents, expression. I appreciate the notes at the end of each story, too. This podcast was exactly what i was looking for. FWIW, I like the longer stories, and hope you read some of your own tales on the show.

Who doesn’t love a good story?
Admittedly I gravitate towards short stories of The New Yorker ~ but this podcast does a fabulous job inserting us into an old English drawing room, facing the hearth’s roaring fire while slowly being entranced by Tony’s reading of a classic story.

So happy
So happy to have found this show. Enjoying the fireside chats after the story almost as much as the readings themselves. His voice is calming, relaxing and his accent (dialect?) work is superb. To quote an old Split Enz song: “why don’t you give it a whirl‽”

I love your rambles
I’m a die hard fan of classic horror. I mean, I literally spend all day every day, working and listening to classic horror stories on podcasts or audible. I follow several other podcasts of the same topic, but what truly stands out to me about your readings is the conversation after …well, I suppose it’s only a “conversation” because I am responding to your statements in my head . 😹 Anyway, I truly appreciate this very much. I love it, actually. It may be because my degree is in fine art and I can spend all day appreciating craftsmanship and creation of all kinds. I feel like these days we don’t do that enough, so I find myself drawn to other nerds who have the capacity to appreciate literature to the degree that I can. Here you have satisfied me with your “rambles” at the end! Bless you ! PS. You have great production even with no sound effects . Audio is clear and your voice is great for this. It’s nice and rounded off…if that makes sense . Thanks for taking time to put this into the world. And I appreciate the stories you yourself have written as well . I’ve signed up to your subscription to get them all . Cheers ! ♥️
