I hate the narrators .

People say to many ads and it not being scary enough but you can skip the ads and it perfectly scary but it’s still not for young kids but I love it

I for one support inclusivity and adequate representation (like most every podcast crew lately), so excluding any gender ON PURPOSE from an entire episode (215) doesn’t work for me. I’m not listening to the Halloween episode, won’t mark it as played, and I hope ratings for this episode reflect common sense. Also: Somberreads voice puts me to sleep.

I do enjoy the stories, I really do, however…the reason I gave a lower rating is because I’m tired of investing time into, what starts out as a terrific story, just what I want, some spooky,eerie, some just okay, but many do not have any ending to the story! I want a solid conclusion to the tale!! Not just creepy music getting louder. My opinion. Not sure if I’ll keep listening. Stories can be very good, that’s the bummer of it.

I’ve listened to every episode and they are consistently scary, with great writing and production.

First off this was a very good horror podcast. However it seems that they’ve sacrificed quality actors for amateur at best “voice actors” it kinda bumps me out of a possibly good horror story. This guy Somber Reads with the pauses after every sentence is really annoying. Please go back to what you’ve done in the past. Btw the getting to know the guest voice actors segment needs improvement as well sounds disjointed and unnatural.

These people deserve more listeners

Loved the idea of supporting the podcast and also enjoying add free. However after 2 years and the sight not working properly, sending emails to the email address for chilling tales, having replaced the card that is still being billed. They keep billing me for a service that I can’t even use and won’t cancel it. So beware.. I don’t write this lightly. The stories and acting are great. But to promote the add free content and ignore issues once you have a way to bill every month.. check your email chilling takes..

I really like the podcast and its stories but I feel like some of narrating could be better. For example, Paul Jay Mcsorely (hopefully I spelled it right), I can’t get into the story when he’s the narrator, I feel like when he reads, it’s not captivating, it sounds like he’s telling the evening news. Other than that the podcast is great.

So are the authors of your stories cool with not being recognized in any way in the descriptions? I myself as a misogynist, believe women tend to write creepier stories than do men and consequently look for female writers first to which to listen.

Lots of ads. Lots of great stories. Obviously when you produce as many stories as they do, not all will be amazing but they do a great job nonetheless. You can usually skip the first 4-6 minutes. They do interrupt stories with ads but what can you do, they got to pay the bills.

I usually only visit this podcast when folding laundry or when in between audiobooks, but too many stories are just.. silly It's hard to be caught in the grip of terror when a narrator goes for the overdramatic sinister voice or mispronounces common words.

This is an excellent podcast for hearing a variety of horror, not just one genre. The authors are amazing with such great imaginations. Also, the voice talent is excellent! They really make the stories come alive. Give this channel a try and I bet you won’t regret it!😁

So, this podcast is pretty interesting to be honest. But I don’t really like when a male narrator tries to voice a girl, or a female narrator tries to voice a man. It just ends up being hilarious instead of horror lol, I still want to give this a good rating because the special effects, voice actors (unless trying to mimic opposite gender), music, story, and all other stuff, is AMAZING! I love that one story where Lottie couldn’t see Emma, I wish I could’ve known, but does Lottie have something wrong in her brain so that she couldn’t see her? I don’t think we will ever know. But overall, it’s great!

This episode is not horror; It doesn’t belong on this podcast. It’s more of a serious topic portrayed in a serious dramatic way without considering the possible consequences to some readers. It is simply just, mean! However I listened to the entire episode, hoping in the end the main character wouldn’t be presented as cruel joke. I simply believe it’s not horror. If the main character was humiliated using a racial setting this authors work wouldn’t be chosen. Humiliating people over weight is acceptable and welcomed in society. Total irony! -Suggestion for Chilling Tales: Give a disclaimer the storyline can be intense and use of body shaming.

The stories are filled with predictable/unrealistic stories, and half of them end up as straight up porn stories. This show has gone downhill, and I’m done listening to it. Enjoy your filth.

I would give it 5 stars if Paul JMS would just use his real voice and knock off the horribly bad performance accents! It’s terrible and oddly his real voice is pretty good!

i used to adore this podcast as a kid, it was my favorite podcast just because the voice actors were so talented. i haven’t listened in a while but i just wanted to leave a nice comment as i’ve seen a bunch of negative ones. i remember back when this podcast had the puppets and the vampire guy i think? it’s been a few years (6 to be exact ;^^) so im not sure if they still have them but they were my favorite! keep up the good work please!

Weird to heavily rely on stories where women are hated by the men in the story or abused… like ok Stephan king there’s more to horror than that

Several minutes of each episode are devoted to ads. The same ads are repeated during a single episode as well, which is very annoying. Whatever tension might have been generated by a story is undermined by the interruptions.

This last one skipped like 5x.

The host is super annoying and makes your mind hurts the way he talks is like so ANNOYING prounounces it so hard it’s so annoying please to not read waste of time 😒.

Ick. Such a disappointment. Hope you get listeners to shore up the numbers lost. We won’t be one of them. While we understand what you were going for. The messaging was too heavy handed and over the top. Any joy of Evil Idol’s return immediately crushed w/ that awful delivery. Evil Idol was better off dead w/o that cringe fest idiocy you broadcasted. Plagued w/ shoddy production and lack of strong leadership w/ little or no control over ads for a couple of years now. Looked past that since we started listening as far back as the Simply Scary days. No more. Your “Queen” may as well be a Court Jester w/ the way you gave that announcement. And considering we’ve heard better tripe voiced by a host claiming to be a living puppet that’s saying something. Such a shame we might have given it a chance if the schlock and awe approach hadn’t been such a turn off. Camp has it’s place in horror. But, there’s a limit. We might comeback but, it won’t be anytime soon. Goodbye. It’s been a slice.

I really like the podcast. The stories are pretty good and the narrator is one of the best out there, in my opinion. Not such a fan of the promos featuring Jason Hill, since he’s long gone and truly missed. Kind of a gut punch every time.

I once look forward to seeing the notification that there was a new show ready to download. lately they have become snore fest in some cases u can’t even hear the prison talking the musics up over them.hope they do better in the future

The stories are very hit or miss and it’s hard to tell until you get partway through an episode. I’ve heard ones with tension and great sound design and others that are just cringe creepy pastas.
