If you’re involved in any part of the home design industry—whether it’s design, furniture, sales, or HomeGoods—this podcast is a must-listen. I’ve gone through nearly every episode and have learned so much. I often find myself taking notes because the insights are invaluable. It’s amazing to hear from so many industry insiders, and even when an episode doesn’t directly apply to my business, I can always take something from it to piece together new ideas. I’m so glad this podcast exists—it’s been an incredible resource!

Just a huge crock. I own a few. She is flighty and so are the rugs. Lousy interview probably to spread the word on her rugs. But. Not accurate on quality.

Fascinating even for a non-interior designer. Excellent balance of news the forces that move a very specific part of economy and culture and fascinating interviews with designers and architects. Rizzoli should give this podcast an sponsorship. I’ve purchased several of their books to learn more about the topics discussed on the Business of Home.

A must listen every week, especially the Thursday show. Playful but educated analysis of industry trends and fantastic interviews with insiders.

I’m a total BOH podcast devotee. Highly recommend for anyone in the home decor industry, and beyond. It’s such a fantastic balance of “business” and “home,” and the interviews are always interesting and worthwhile.

They basically just read the website articles. It feels like outsiders talking about the business. The interviews consist of them fawning over very wealthy people who offer advice like “live beautifully!“ seems like it’s more about them looking for future personal business opportunities

I’m new to this podcast after finishing a one-year subscription to the BOH magazine, and I have never been more excited about a podcast related to my field in textiles! Dennis Scully and the team on the BOH podcast offer insightful and informative interviews as well as interesting takes on news around the design industry. I was in the architecture industry over 20 years ago and am now back in it and this is the best podcast centered around topics that really interest me. Thanks for all the work that goes into this special podcast every few weeks!

Dennis Scully is an amazing host and I love listening every week. There is a wonderful variety of industry leaders, creatives and designers all who are influential in the home industry. The show is very well done and I find it very informative. Dennis and the crew do a great job. My favorite show is the Thursday show and my favorite episodes are the two with Alex Shuford.

I’ve never had the chance to meet him but listening to him every week for years I feel as though I know him. I just can’t think of anyone else who can dive into these business conversations like the one he did with Room & Board and then the next week have a charming conversation with Beata. Heuman.He must have a financial background as his deep dives into RH’s earnings and share price movements are the smartest analysis I’ve heard. It’s just a great show and seems to be getting better all the time. The industry owes Dennis a debt. I hope he is well paid!

Great guests, pretentious faux-British host. Dennis needs to shorten his questions significantly and stop talking down to his guests with these “let’s tell the listeners” pre-ambles. The fake laughter and accent are also a distraction. It’s one thing to speak eloquently, but this comes across as phony.

The designers are great. But it’s unbelievable how woke the hosts are, and when they try to talk about the economy, and politics and global warming, they sound unbelievably gilded and foolish. And lately they can’t stop

I love the diversity of guests… from retailers to manufacturers…. Interior designers to trade-representatives. BOH and the BOH Podcast reveal a much larger industry and how connected we all are. Fantastic podcast! I just finished listening to Grant Trick’s episode and the conversation was educational and inspirational. I help to manage a custom furniture manufacturing factory, therefore I deeply relate to Mr. Trick’s supply chain issues and vendor challenges. Dennis is a fantastic interviewer, leading the conversation along with natural journalistic abilities. I can’t wait to stream all of the episodes as I drive to and from Claremont North Carolina.

During this pandemic, I have become an avid listener because the content is spot on and Dennis is an excellent host! I know they are interviews but at times it can get like I am eavesdropping on a really fun conversation with folks who know just what they are talking about. Rare but welcomed. Insightful podcast on the broader design industry. Dennis is an excellent host and interviewer. He’s up there with Terri Gross of NPR (high praise in my book!), in terms of his research, thoughtful questions and ability to get his guests talking. I particularly enjoy the variety of guests, which represent multiple facets of the industry - from executives of vendors and retailers to storied designers. As the name of the publication / podcast imply, listeners not only receive a personal / professional background of the guests but also an in-depth view on their business, its history, current challenges, business strategy and new ventures. As a former finance professional turned interior designer (McGovern Project), it helps me to get a broader perspective on the overall industry - changing business models, industry headwinds/tailwinds, and operational challenges. It’s also helpful to hear guest’s view on the broader market segmentation of key players. (Dennis I’m sure would admit he might be slightly obsessed with RH or at least his guests view on their disruption to the industry and rightfully so as it often leads to insightful commentary on the balance of good design / quality / price. First time listener? My favorite interviews to date include: Vendors: Sunbrella, Schumacher Designers: Gauchot Studios, Dan Rak (another career switcher!), Novogratz Industry: Kaitlin Peterson (Editor in Chief, BoH)

I am a design student and I just looove this podcast. Dennis Scully is such a great host. He always sounds so charming, genuinely curious and interested in his guests. I find the insights into the working world of design fascinating and love all the unusual stories and tidbits he gets. Huge fan and only wish I had more time to listen to more!

Dennis is a true professional. He comfortably leads guests through the interview process and keeps the audience hooked and wondering what the next question will be. Has this parallel already been drawn a hundred times? I really do mix their voices up in my head sometimes when I read anything they write… Really because - While the episodes keep you informed about the industry and the evolving design landscape, they are thought provoking stories about actual human beings. Also is there anything better than an enthusiastic, charming, well informed host? If you don’t listen for the literary journalism - do it for the knowledge. You’ll stop having to fake nod to your boss and Google later as much. Inspiring. Reminds me why I love design. Dennis Scully possesses the curiosity & enthusiasm that the world is in far too short supply of. Love!
