I play at .8 speed to slow down the AI voice. Sounds more relaxing. Some episodes are distressing with people having hardships or suffering. Hard to sleep to that. I do like the history and harmless but interesting factoids.

Really soothing and just interesting enough to keep my brain from wondering to thoughts that keep me awake. But then just as I fall asleep, BANG!!! EXTREMELY LOUD COMMERCIAL!!! Happens repeatedly throughout the whole recording.

This podcast’s episodes are very interesting and informative, if you’re a history buff like me. But the caster’s mellow voice does eventually lull me to sleep- thank you for your podcast! PS: during an especially stressful day, I purposely turned this on in the car to help lower my blood pressure and keep me calm. Bonus bonus bonus!

For an app that is supposed to help you go to sleep, it is incredibly jarring to have a commercial come on in the middle at double the volume. Why do this for a sleep app? You can’t simply ensure the volume remains consistent?

The loud obnoxious commercials are sooo annoying!! How am I supposed to sleep while getting blasted with ads?!

I love love love this podcast but there have been a lot of randomly placed pauses that throw everything off. It actually pulls my attention back when it’s not even cause for a pause. Please fix this.

I used to listen to this regularly. I really like the content and found the voice relaxing. After noticing the AI-generated “artwork” and some strange pauses, tonation and cadence from the narrator, I looked up where the voice came from and learned it’s AI too. Such a shame…I’m sure there’s a real human out there who could use the work and could read with a voice that’s just even lovelier and more relaxing.

I had the bad luck of falling asleep while listening to the podcast one night only to be woken up suddenly from a loud obnoxious commercial. I could not get back to sleep! Unfortunately, I cannot listen to this podcast again.

I listen to this podcast at .7 speed and I find the voice and the content incredibly relaxing. Whether or not it is AI doesn’t really matter to me as I’m not exactly looking for a perfect history lesson but a good night’s sleep. This ticks those boxes and I often find it fascinating as well. I’m also a fan of calm history, but they don’t have consistent content releases. An unbelievable amount of content. I’ve really enjoyed this podcast and will continue listening to it. While waiting for a calm history to release more content.

Was sleeping well through Ancient Japan episode until ONE TWO ONE TWO THREE FOUR! GIMMIE A BREAK, GIMMIE A BREAK, BREAK ME OFF A PIECE OF THAT THAT .... WAAAKKKEEE UUUPPP AND LISTEN TO THIS LOUD COMMERCIAL SONG SBOUT CANDY!!!!!! This was my 3 am turning point for this podcast that I used to like. Idiots... keep the commercials subtle enough to sleep through. Subliminal commercials are effective too.

No actual empirical evidence is actually investigated by research or ascertained from history books, this is purely capitalists using stolen labor in the form of machine generated content.

This is just AI slop, it all seems very interesting but it may not be actually history. There are other good podcasts don’t learn fake history, if you want made up stories there are also great podcasts for that just not this one!!

His voice is so lovely! But how is one to sleep when I want to keep listening? I would love to hear about holocaust or a mod century migrants journey through americas.

I wanted to like this but it's all fake and generated by an algorithm. The stories have an outline - sort of -that breaks the subject into different 2 minute sound bites that intertwine and swirl around with the same "facts" and "insights" repeated many times over the course of the whole thing. It's like a history dream flowing around and around and wasting your time. It probably digested a few textbooks or long histories or wikipedia entries and then conjures it into a structure and spits it out in a monotone. I didn't hear anything that sticks out. Thye volume in regulated as is the pace and it just swirls around you. It's plausible enough to listen as if you are learning something but its really just slop

The podcast is great but the commercials wake me up at 3 am and then if you don’t want them you got to pay but the quality is good so yea that’s all from me🌚🌝

This podcast is amazing. Calm, good for focus, and my first resort on what to listen to while drawing. The Chernobyl episode… 11/10!!! Good information, and background development. Although there was a tendency in which some themes were repeated more than needed. BUT, I understand that repeating important information, human flaw actions, and the cost of it all, is very important! But all in all. A Really good podcast! Thank you.

Apart from it being AI, this podcast will wake you up with loud ads mid podcast. Not great for sleep

There are so many podcasts that are better for history. Try History Hit channel for a start.

Cadence of the narration is weird which tipped me off. Definitely not going to listen any longer as I thought I was at least listening to facts, turns out they don’t fact check it either. Lights Out Library is good and bona fide human.

Sudden, very loud commercials interrupt relaxation and will wake you from a deep sleep. I will be looking for another similar podcast if they continue.

I was so bummed to find out it’s AI, but it makes total sense given the length of the episodes and frequency they’re posted. Listen to the French Whisperer instead or Boring Books for Bedtime if you want to fall asleep to a human being.

I’m not sure if this is a good podcast. I listen nearly every night and can’t recall finishing an episode. If I ever hear the ending I will let you know.

Even if the research isn’t 100% reliable I think it’s a good tool to sleep, focus, or I even just listen to it as I’m drawing and showering. I don’t support the use of AI for art, but In this sense I’ll give it a chance : )

Passing this garbage off as history is just wrong. It’s scary how many people in the reviews don’t seem to realize.

the way it became sooo formulaic, i get angry when i listen to this podcast now. every cheap metaphor makes me want to hurl my phone at the wall. five, six hour episodes released every day? yeah, they are abject garbage. Glad you found a way to cash out guy, but you turned what was once sincerely helpful and enjoyable into hot sludgy slop that smells post-taco bell. I am so mad at you for selling out. Making the world a more soulless place one sellout at a time. F this podcast.

I was enjoying this pod and drifting off to sleep until the loud mid roll ads jarred me awake.

Really love this podcast and it helps me fall asleep perfectly. More recently, it seems like there’s been a change in the commercials where they are significantly louder and more jarring, and frequently jolt me out of sleep. The content, timing, and especially volume of the commercials significantly harming the value of the podcast. I’d be more than happy to pay a small amount to get rid of them.

I really like the voice. I think the information is interesting however, putting commercials with loud ringing bells right in the middle of a podcast meant to put people to sleep is a wild choice.

I generally find the subjects are actually fairly interesting but not enough to keep me awake ! A bit repetitive… perfect for the subject matter … and i so appreciate no ads or I fall asleep Great voice - and pace of podcast I listen from all over Asia when I travel Smart homeless ( home burnt down) nomad who leaves cold USA for cheap warmer places … return and camp while figuring out situation- so I am stressed and sleepless everywhere !
