Pretty great
I really enjoy listening to smart, funny people roast corrupt, evil humans.I learn a lot of history listening to this podcast as well.

Exhausting
I really wanted to like this, and appreciate the thorough research the host provides, but my God they are terrible at storytelling. I don’t have ADHD, but I am guessing this is what it’s like. A wall of tangents and non-sequiturs. Exploration of pointless minutia that lends nothing to the story. Take some of that ad money and hire an editor.

Wittiest Guests
Exceptional, informative podcast. I don’t know how scripted it is, but the guests have such quick wit and their observations are always on point and so hilarious. The way Robert jives with every guest is awesome. Andrew Ti, Bridgett Todd, Miles Gray, and Ed Helms are my favorite guests. Sophie comes in with the funniest quips, too.

When will you do Lyndon LaRouche?
I am enjoying the podcast. But scrolling through the back catalog, I don’t see Lyndon LaRouche. He was a scary b**t*rd of the late 20th century. He’s long overdue for consideration. Please do him!

Caution
Informative and detailed but the hosts get off topic and rant way too much. They also don’t hide their political ideologies at all. Far left extremism and they like to bash anyone with opposing beliefs. Not a great podcast overall.

Gave it a chance
Episode on Robert Maxwell interesting but after listening to few other episodes, now am questioning accuracy as this pcast is definitely defending anti-Amer values and ethics, even they defend pharma corruptions.

World history taught by ANTIFA
There’s one episode in this podcast where the host is advocating his defense of ANTIFA and ANTIFA’s violence. Seriously not even lying

Entertaining
But keep in mind that Robert Evans has worked for the Feds before and he is an American Anarchist, so take everything he says with so many grains of salt. Dude uncritically referenced the black book of communism in one of his episodes.

it s good 5 stars

hhthegreat!
Nope
Hosts are far too annoying to glean anything useful from this. I barely lasted 5 minutes.

I love ruining my day to this podcast
Nothing better than a little Robert and Sophie and guest ruining my day or week by listening to some episodes. Anderson is the only happy part. 10/10 recommend.

Love everyone on the network…..except Sophie
She ruins lots of Robert’s jokes and is genuinely hard to listen to. Please get her to stop. She is the absolute worst and most unfunny person ever

…right?
Great podcast with interesting subject matter, well-researched episodes, and an engaging tone, right? The only problem is that I noticed how often Robert Evans ends his statements with “right?”, right? And now that I have, I can’t unnotice it, right? I recently counted RE ending his sentence with “right?” 787 times (approximately) in one hour, right? The other hosts do it, too, right? Anyway, I have a handful of diagnoses that explain how I’ve latched onto this phenomenon, right? Cool podcast, but jesus…right?

Just finished listening to the episodes about David Berg. I am one of the many children who were born and raised in the Children of God cult The damage done to us kids is beyond unfathomable! Unfortunately those of us who survived will have to live with the fact that none of the adults and leaders who propagated and allowed this abuse will ever be brought to justice. (And Zerby is still alive somewhere)

Something Robert and I have in common:
A deep, unyielding love of posse comitatus. 🤠

History made fun and terrible
Overall I love this podcast, the discussions are thoughtful and I appreciate the journalistic integrity of Judge Evans. Thank you Robert and Sophie for doing the lords work. NC sends its love. -BL

Needs an editor
Solid idea and they are offering good info about the folks shaping the world out there. I listened to the four part episode about Oprah. If listening to endless banter is your thing, you will enjoy this, but for those who enjoy the results of media that is filtered through an excellent and ruthless editor, you might find yourself like me constantly hitting the fast forward button past the chitchat to get to their next point already. Some good info and yes funny at times but I find myself a little impatient with the endless banter in between the facts.

Who knew history could be so hilarious and cringe. Also, Robert, marry me?

Terrific
My favorite podcast, haven’t missed an episode in three years and I can’t wait for more! Love you guys, thanks for doing what you do. Also Robert can you stop sending me and my children instructions on how to build a pipe bomb please :/

I keep trying to listen
And always end up unfollowing. Definitely some good information but delivered in a way to render it inaudible. Is this what the younger revolutionaries sound like? Y’all think snarky remarks and complaints are going to do it? These people don’t realize they are essentially arguing for better slavery conditions. Real people are fighting to be set free from slavery. Not for better slave masters. Anarchy doesn’t mean no rules, it means no leaders aka slave masters.

Robert, Sophie and the gang
I won’t stand for Sophie slander. She’s great and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to dive deeper into the catalog. She makes the show.

Right?
I have never heard someone say the word “right” so much, right?

Wanted to like it
This is not relaxing. ADHD non stop loud chatter and nervous laughing. Stressed me out tbh, lasted 25 minutes.

Like the History Channel, but…
Robert ditches the America slant, in favor of a world perspective based in his travels and deep-dive fair-weighted research. If you wanna understand why most people are struggling, this podcast delivers with wild dark yet considerate and reflective humor.

More Sophie!!
Favorite cast. Listened to every episode. Love the whole gang

Very a podcast
If you like a friends chatting type of podcast this is for you, if you want informed analysis not so much. This is one of those shows where one person reads a script about a topic they researched and the other person reacts to it. Sometimes that reaction is a thoughtful response sometimes it’s just jokes, a lot of the time it’s two people who don’t know what they’re talking about and they don’t take the time to look it up or edit out the incorrect things they said.

Outstanding
Exceptional research.

Hate the guests
Listening to the episode of Beau Brummell and the guest Princess Weekes repeatedly makes the most ignorant comments and adds nothing to the conversation. Why are these guests even there?
Neophytenot
a good casual listening show
i really enjoy the show but wish that Sophie would stay off mic. I’m sure she’s a great person but she really detracts and distracts from the show. I don’t want to pile on the sophie hate but i’m just giving my opinion for the sake off the show.

Love the Concept
Love the concept of this; The execution isn’t great. Listening to this podcast is like sitting by the overly enthusiastic group of philosophy majors at a community college cafeteria.

Lots of weird nitpicky reviews
I don’t often review podcasts but as a longtime btb fan I was surprised by some of the negativity in the reviews. BTB is not an overly academic history podcast, it is a twice weekly entertaining show giving quick overviews of complex often overlooked topics from history and it never claims to be more than that. They do good work, if you find a topic they don’t cover as thoroughly as you would have liked go learn more about it, that’s the point. Also to the bootlickers on here, hate to break it to you but reality and critical thinking has a left slant, got out of your echo chamber and trust your own eyes and ears.

Great Show
Informative, entertaining, and just plain good.

Offensive though informative
The hosts perpetuate the awful they purport to expose through their hateful vitriol and quick judgments. It’s obvious they consider themselves above the rest and perfect. They perpetuate a hateful and awful place degrading the world of podcasting.

Poorly researched, terminally skewed analysis
On the same spectrum of msnbc/corporate propagandists. Not the most recent iteration or creative example of the propagandists that seek to divide and deceive, who are themselves divided and deceived. If you are looking for an example of quality work, non politicized research, for example, check out In the Shadows of Utopia by Lachlan Peters.

Love this podcast
I found this a few weeks ago and started from the beginning, listening on my commute. Well researched, humorous when needed, and now I’m eating all the Spicy Nacho Doritos.

Poor Sophie
You guys are doing great work! It’s amazing how little is widely known about historical figures and how few resources there are for people to actually learn. It’s functionally illegal to teach kids this stuff in most schools. I don’t agree with Robert’s takes on everything but I’m also an adult who can form my own opinions (looking at you right-wing one-star review trolls). Evans is a better journalist/researcher than most not because he’s unbiased, but because he has the crucial combination of being upfront about his opinions and backing them up with comprehensive research. These reviews are so mean to Sophie. She’s an excellent producer! Sophie: Ignore the haters and pet your dog if you feel bad. Dogs will get us through it all.

Been listening to it all day at work for like 4 weeks.
Well researched, Robert sounds like a gadfly though and he gets grating. I do listen to it at 1.3x speed, so it could be my fault I find him so annoying, I will never admit fault though. Love Sophie on and off the mic. Seems like the reviewers that don’t like her are greasy piggy little men. Typical. Do an episode on Dov Charney.

Leftist propaganda.
That’s all. Just a bunch of leftist shills
M7sharp
Liberal babies
The amount of whining and crying about illegal immigrants in the very first episode I listened to was crazy. They get partial credit for at least consistently criticizing both parties, but just a wild take that we are somehow mistreating migrants because we don’t take everyone in with open arms.

Sophie Great Producer
But she is horrendous on the mike. First, take an improv class, nothing but blocks and denials. Second, Nevermind, just stay off mike.

Mike Duncan interview!
So awesome to hear Duncan on this platform opening up about his view of our current administration.

Absolutely love this podcast
I’m binging these podcasts all day while I work, workout, walk my dogs, etc… I love hearing insights into parts of history & historical figures that you normally don’t hear about & I find the hosts & guests extremely entertaining & often insightful. My only complaint & I tried to resist even saying something but sometimes the (producer?) Sophie will interject and sometimes she’ll have something relevant to add but quite often it feels like when your teenage cousin jumps into an adult conversation with all enthusiasm and little to no substance & doesn’t really have much of value to say but wants to be involved… I don’t always mind it but she can be quite aggressive about interrupting & talking over both host & guests at times, and at that point it can get a bit disruptive & distracting

Good, but overly sensational
The topics are interesting and Robert has a hilarious sardonic humor; however, he often adheres to sensationalism in a way that ignores reality or alternative perspectives. I would greatly prefer the show if Sophie would stop speaking. She is neither intellectual nor clever and contributes nothing except a grade school level of sarcasm.

Great show, but…..
I always laugh when Robert refers to himself as an “anarchist”. Robert - you have a truck and a house. You have a podcast that has Ryan Seacrest advertising for Chumba Casino. This is not “anarchy”. Also - you talk about knives & machetes a LOT!!!! A LOT!

Almost universal praise
It’s a great show, a ton of news stories that aren’t as covered as they should be, but I have a personal issue, I’m fairly sure it might just be me. I find Mia Wong insufferable, the shift between hushed NPR voice and shrill nervous cackle jars me.

Can’t Recommend Enough
It’s hard to overstate how thorough and informative this show is, and how engaging Robert and his wide cast of guests are. #saveSophie

Too much pointless swearing
I tried listening to this but after hearing the f-word used completely pointlessly and seemingly random about 10x in the first 30 minutes I gave up. I like using the f-word as much as the next person but it has to make sense. I feel that the hosts are using it not to make a point but simply for the sake of it. Great show otherwise but there’s really no need for swearing this much.

Annoying
The host himself is kind of annoying, but the woman who interjects from time to time is just infuriating. She adds basically no insight.
